Hey, all! Thanks to another snow day, I finally had time to write “A Day at the Beach,” which makes this profile complete! If you open the spoiler in my profile, what you’ll read is not exactly an origin story, but it is the very day Nissa gains her superpower. (Deleted scene: she’s asleep, sunbathing, when that happens.)

EDIT - after reading Verve’s backstory, it occurs to me we’re on an alternate Earth. So Boston Theoretical must be in my home state. In that case, the beach will be a Massachusetts beach. Nauset Beach in East Orleans, Cape Cod, with its glorious sharp rocks and yellow horseflies!

EDIT again - since the unwritten part of the backstory is intended as a divine blessing from Sarenrae, I changed my Lv.1 feat to Divine Blessing. I’m using fire weapons, and I’ll have fire melee attacks later, so it does benefit me. But mostly I just want my abilities to fit the character.

Pretty sure Charles here is ready to go.

I thought based on the original post, it's earth in the future, so I made a couple of non-gamebreaking assumptions when writing my backstory (including the fact that Peace Corps becomes an actual corporation).

Please don't take it to assume that I am completely right in my assumptions; I could be very wrong.

I really thought I had answered that. Sorry.

Tarren, I've had a couple questions that have gone unanswered:

- What are we doing for equipment? Starfinder purchase for the level or something else?

Purchase equipment up to Starfinder purchase level (4000 credits). You are already an established superhero and your gear could be part of that. Alternatively, it could be new gear that Boston Theoretical helped devise for you in preparation for this engagement.

- Any further thoughts or guidance on how her power should work? I've made suggestions, but I have NO clue as to what power level you're going for. I'd be more than happy if you'd pick something based on what we've discussed and let me know the exact mechanic.

The power level I'm going for is Starfinder Level 3 except for some very focused exceptional way that makes the character unique and super.

Uncanny Valerie can be very useful if through these surges she's connecting to the Akashic record, and we treat the Akashic record as a transdimensional data library. As for how that would work, what about this: by spending 1 resolve point, Uncanny Valerie can spend 1 Resolve Point to Take 20 on a skill Check to Recall Knowledge. She can does not need "a means of researching, such as access to an information network" (because she has the Akashic record). She can Take 20 with only a 2 minute skill check, however, she is gains the helpless condition for those two minutes. Does this make sense? Am I missing any Starfinder ability that does this already? It's not a huge superpower, but for 2 minutes at a time, Uncanny Valerie lights up and connects to the divine consciousness and comes back with information. It could be really useful when you're lost in the Shuffle.

Also please let me know if you see anything amiss with the build. It may need a little further tweaking (in addition to finalizing the equipment).
- What area of Life Science is she...

Thank you! I'll finish her purchases and review everything and post when I'm done.

Specialty is xenobiology -- I think I noted this by skills but forgot to update the theme description. Will fix that.

Uncanny Valerie mentioned Massachusetts in her profile, too. All good to me! I can, with impunity, make references to Massachusetts legends like Johnny Appleseed, Mary Sawyer (known for her little lamb whose fleece was white as the snow I'm now shoveling), Dr. Suess, R.A. Salvatore, and John Flansburg of They Might Be Giants.

I assume it's an alternate Earth, where Golarian deities can be in play.

The adventure takes place on an alternate Earth, which I'm going to call World Zero. Our out of character Earth is Earth 21.

World Zero is very much like our Earth, except it has a handful of lower-level superheroes and is about to discover transdimensional travel.

I live in Quebec but have visited New England a lot. I may bet some of the details wrong, but, hey, it's an alternate universe.

In World Z, I'm quite happy with the Peace Corps becoming an actual corporation. A lot of the adventuring will involve dimension-hopping, at least at the beginning.

I've opened the gameplay thread. No one will need to make a saving throw for a little bit, so there's still time to nail things down on character stats.

I've asked you to describe what you look like. I've made the assumption that you wear a costume. If you are the type of super hero who doesn't wear a costume, don't feel you have to change that.
