Zellgato |

Fun detail I realized. In our previous game. Zellgato was the NonLethal one.
but he's firing lethal this time (didn't have the money for fusions and cool rifle (But wanted it over the smarter rifle choice for coolness). I think he's the only lethal one here.
but it also fits considering the last few months for him.

Hunting transdimensional invaders in the mountains can take all the non-lethal energy out of a person.
University just started and I've spent two days fixing technical glitches with videos and such. What a strange semester this is going to be.

Nissa, the Subatomic Bombshell |

Nissa was “accidentally” lethal a couple days ago, so she’s trying real hard not to drown her foe right now. Which is an easy way to think with the Starfish hull not breached (as far as Nissa can tell).
I get my ass kicked so often, as a player, by readied actions. I think this is the first time one worked in my favor.
~~~~~
On lethality, the Flash (which I watch with my daughters) frustrates the hell out of my wife and I. The whole “I’m too good to kill” just seems stupid when 50+ people die because you convinced Elongated Man not to kill the bad guy (who has already killed by the dozen)… and then you basically obliterate his soul in the season finale, so BS the Flash doesn’t kill.
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Yeah, actually, I guess you would all recognize the bear as he's not going to change that much with age.
This is a younger version of the unnamed 'bear guy' you met previously.
I'm just imagining him barrelling (bear-alling?) at full speed in my direction and thinking of the surprise I might feel. It might take me a second to say, "Oh, I know that bear. He's a good fellow."
Nissa, the Subatomic Bombshell |
"Oh. I know that bear" is hilarious phrasing
A black bear casually strolled by my property line a couple months ago, between my stone wall and the neighbor’s. If I see him (or her?) again, I’m using that line!
I've got a fox living around my house this summer. With the campus shut down for the summer, he felt more and more comfortable. My dog never sees him, but I spot him slinking out of the bushes in the morning and heading off to do his thing.
I've also seen more eagles flying overhead than ever before. Never say young eagles fighting before, locking talons and spinning towards the earth. That was a sight.
No bears yet though.
Zwordsman |
I miss that. Uni of Alaska Fairbanks I used to live on the dorms it had a fox who would actually come out for certain folks. was adorable. Also mooses. less adorable.
I miss animal life. bears, wolves, deer, reindeer, lots of birds, etc. I should really move to Alaska again haha.
Down where I am now, we just have small tiny things full of death.
Nissa, the Subatomic Bombshell |
I saw three foxes when I spent a week in Hokkaido last year. One was at the Blue Pond (touristy nature-hike place) parking lot, and it got within five feet of our rental SUV. I’m sure tourists keep the creature healthy, though I adhere strictly to do-not-feed-the-animals.
My wife snapped pictures, and it clearly wasn’t starving. Beautiful creature.
I think my favorite creature discovered in my swimming pool (alive) was a star-nosed mole. It turns out those little guys are excellent swimmers, and not afraid to approach three curious little girls (my daughters, 3-8 at the time). We also have deer—a mom and fawn came into our yard shortly after the bear left! And wild turkeys are hilarious when a couple dozen get startled and immediately fly into a treetop. We’re talking about a tree well over 50’ tall, but still… it was my first and only experience seeing turkeys fly.
Oh, one more—when I lived in Hong Kong, I saw a monkey snatch a bag of fruit from a woman. Monkeys are asshoIes.
Nissa, the Subatomic Bombshell |
We landed in Chitose, went inland to Furano, Sapporo, and a place that smelled like oni farts, then headed back along the coast and enjoyed sushi and Shiraoi beef! (EDIT: Farm-fresh food in Biei was also exceptional… though I can’t remember if that was before or after or during our stay in Furano.)
The locals were excessively polite! Especially the farmers and an old lady at a supermarket who wanted a photo op with me, my wife and our daughters!
I spent 8 years in South Korea. Lived 1 year right next to the DMZ, but spent most of the time in Taejeon's science valley.
I had a few trips that took me through Japan, but didn't travel much outside of Korea while I was there.
After I returned to Canada I worked closely supporting Japanese high school teachers for half a year, 3 years in a row.
Nissa, the Subatomic Bombshell |
Any chance a maneuver using the arms for a trick could be something like trick DC for Nissa (15+level) and Keep Pace DC for Legion (10+level)? That still makes it a coin toss for Legion, but a ~50% chance is less scary than ~25%.
Not asking you exact DC... I mean, are you taking into consideration whether arms do a bulk of the work vs. legs? If so, I’m more confident in arms-heavy jobs that rely on a bigger number for Nissa. (IC version: Nissa is more confident in herself than Legion, no offense, so she’s more apt to try maneuvers that give her the more difficult task.)
Tarren the Dungeon Master |
I was thinking of something like DC 15 for each, but it only creates more danger if there is a double fail. One fail, is just a lack of success. Double success = success.
That would make it only a 25% chance of things getting worse and a 25% chance of things getting better, right? Something close to that?
The Olympian |
Nissa, Theo will try to go underwater with you.
Nissa, the Subatomic Bombshell |
Cool. I chanced another Pilot check to improve the situation and had Nissa open a comm link so you can hear her.
We’ll need a GM confirmation of exactly what needs to be done, but if I successfully got Big Red where I want it, then Theo can rescue the dudebro from possibly drowning.
Charles Wilde |
Question, is the entrance to the armory at a t-junction, at a dead end, in the middle of the hallway, some other option?
Vermilion Vixen |
@GM,
Could you please remove Vermilion Vixen from the game? She is Nissa’s friend from the backstory, but her being in the campaign is due to me accidentally posting as her.
(From Nissa’s player… but I suppose the mention of Nissa might have made that apparent.)
Charles Wilde |
I have a feeling this armory is getting rather cramped with two large creatures in it... which will matter mostly because firing ranged weapons in melee still provokes attacks of opportunity.
Charles Wilde |
I hadn't noticed until now that Gristlethorn is an Envoy. :D
Nissa, the Subatomic Bombshell |
I think I’m experiencing confirmation bias. I expected the Dudebros to be Double Dragon Neon-inspired. There really is no reason, other than there were two of them.
Then came the martial arts skills…
The red and blue color scheme…
They high five each other…
Um, they get battle-suits when they leave Earth?
And they’re probably both into the same girl.
Still seems a stretch, unlike the earthy-crunchy evil Wonder Twins. But still, thought I’d point it out, just ’cause.
Nissa, the Subatomic Bombshell |
^Nice!
Also, I am reading and will eventually post. Work is insanely busy now since I go into my school, even though my lessons are still virtual. We have this new system called Canvas which is not a bad system, but it does raise the question, “Why the hell aren’t we using Google Classroom, which all of our returning students and teachers, and >90% of the new ones, know how to use?!”
So if anyone notices my posts are slower, it’s work.
Oof. I have a hate-tolerate affair with Canvas. I really liked the "direct 2 learn" that my grad school used before, and quite loved Blackboard my undergrad used.
Canvas I feel like hides waay too much of the discussion boards, and other things nesting in on itself and making it hard to keep check of "just yours"
"Honestly, "prepare to fight" is probably the correct policy if you meet another you."
Ha! Hate-tolerance is where I’m at.
My classes are going well in spite of this system, not because of. Every time I get through an 80-minute session without embarrassing myself and my profession, the feeling is like: “Well met, worthy opponent. The day is mine!” (Mercifully thrusts sword into Canvas.)
Tarren the Dungeon Master |
My classes are going fairly well this semester. It's so weird that, for three years, I've been preparing online asynchronous courses at a university that discourages online courses and, then, right at the semester I was already on the schedule to start teaching these courses online, EVERYONE goes online. I had a three year head start on course prep for this semester and I think my students are happy.
Are you doing synchronous teaching then? I only have 90 minutes a week synchronous. We use TEAMS.
Nissa, the Subatomic Bombshell |
Yes. I feel like I’m part entertainer with everything onscreen. Especially with my autistic student that I teach 1:1. That’s fun… great kid! The language barrier and autism make it hard for her to produce, which makes it hard to gauge her comprehension, but I’m fortunate to have the 1:1 sessions.
I teach ESL, grades 6-11 (5 groups of students), and I’m trying to make my lessons as similar as possible—like different books/vocabulary, but same assignment more or less, adjusted for grade level and English proficiency. That’s how I’ll spend the next hour…!and hopefully not the whole friggin’ weekend.
