That makes a great deal of sense in my book. 5e does something analogous with domain spell lists.

I have only had the wolf take one action this turn. There's at least three actions not been taken by the party. I don't mean to be a broken record, there's not much we can do about bad luck but if people don't remember the three actions to make an attack or try some other effect it has an impact. You might not have a great chance to hit with a ranged weapon but it's still a chance. I can see ye struggling with the fights and being mindful of this would hopefully help.

We have single digit bonuses, and the wolf has double digit bonuses. Our ACs are on average much lower than the wolf's AC of 19. The wolves definitely have much better damage dice than we do. It's not just luck. For level 2, this is a challenging fight.

For what it's worth, the author purposely created this adventure to be very, very difficult. So yeah, it's tough -- for better or worse. Haha.

I think I am taking three actions. If I'm wrong, please point that out.

I think it is good... IF people stick it out. Then, they will feel a bigger sense of accomplishment at triumphing. My personal inclination, at least so far, is less triumph and more wanting to crawl back to pathfinder 1.0 however. I think the combination of the new ruleset and the difficulty level, plus side RL things being challenging as well, just make me want to slink away into escapism rather than seeing it as a fun challenge. But don't worry, I am trying to suppress the urge and give it a chance. :)

... I do think that it has sort of leaked into my character being more snarky than I intended her to be initially though. :)

Conversely, my constantly being distracted and shortened free time has made it so that my character is less snarky than I intended him to be!

It's currently even more straightforward for me to roleplay Throkk. ;)

Despite Throkk getting hammered, I'm okay with a fight being tough. I would ask that everyone tries to bear the three actions in mind though.

Thats likely part of it and likely partly its tough for them to gauge it. The first adventure or two for a new game I find are often very much shall we say not correctly callibrated.

Still I'm relieved you guys have won all gotten out the other side.

How far away was the druid from this location, if someone had a notion to go and retrieve her?

She's checking the nearby area, she'll be showing up soon.

Hey, anyone know how familiars or animal companions work in 2e? Just wondering if that is a possibility with this cat. If so, might be better for a different class than mine, but if no one else wants to try, I would definitely put a level into another class like ranger to get a cool fire leopard companion. (Would probably have nice archery benefits anyway.)

You actually wouldn't have to go into another class. There's an archetype called animal Trainer. It was added in the extinction curse adventure path which is circus themed. To get the archetype you'd be giving up class feats.

https://2e.aonprd.com/Archetypes.aspx?ID=38

It's not just you getting an animal companion you'd also end up with speak with animals permanently cast on you.

On the subject of multiclassing it's not like taking a level dip anymore they're basically done like archetypes.

I am happy to say the writer did put in stats and mechanics for the fire leopard as an animal companion if the PCs do certain things (which ye have done a few off).

Hey Morsun,

Your character mentioned not knowing what his role is, and it sounded like a player concern to me, rather than a character concern... so in case that is true, I wanted to address it.

Sorry if I am stepping on your toes (or anyone's). I am used to these PbP games getting bogged down, so I often push forward with whatever I can figure out (in this case some lucky climbing rolls), but if you need more time/space to carve your place, or if anyone is feeling railroaded (by me rather than by the GM), I can stop doing that.

Thanks very much, Sazen. I can see how you thought it was a player concern, but it is a character concern. I role play Morsun as being grouchy, and he sees himself as a scout type, so he was surprised that he was one of the last ones to head out. Especially after the (somewhat confusing) conversation the party had about how and when to approach the fort, where Sazen agreed with Morsun at first to wait until dark.

All that came from my role play of him, not my personal feelings. I'm always 100% behind moving a PbP game forward.

Just as a fun aside, if this place has an extensive library of esoteric texts, it's not impossible that a book that Sool wrote might be on her bookshelf. In his long career as a cloistered academic he's written two lengthy tomes, one on arcane theory called 'Pyschomagical Fluxions of Multiversal Manastreams' and one on the Dark Tapestry called 'The Empire of Night: Beyond Laws and Beyond Morals'. Like all highly specialized academic texts, they are densely researched and turgidly written, filled with a great deal of shorthand jargon and allusions to prominent ideas within a rarified superstratum of academia. But that might be her cup of tea. I think there should be some percentage chance that she has at least one of his books taking up space on her bookshelves since they were written in this part of the world within the last century.

If she does, it might impact how he feels about her. Sool is certainly not immune to vanity.

Traveling days I won't be able to post (driving cross-country), and I am not sure whether I will have time while visiting with family, so please feel free to either bot my character or put her on ice in the meantime.

Apologies for the extended absence. I'll be on mostly normally till Wednesday, so if you have questions/requests before I go, let me know.

Ok starting to get back on track... I've updated the games I am GMing now to get to the ones I am playing in! Sorry for the delay.

Throkk's going to be gone for a while yet I suspect. I'm going to balance things out by having you guys level up now but wont be botting him, he'll be in the background fighting goons or something. And by doing it now our spellcasters will have access to some of those nice level two spells.

Welcome to level three.

I tend to find some of the Paizo adventures a little tough for my tastes. I don't want things to be a cake walk but I don't want people to be constantly worried people are going to die. In my game over voice chat Throkk's rogue has been my first character death for PF2e but now he has a super deadly fighter!

**also note that I corrected some numbers because I wasn't including level in my proficiency bonuses in all cases... only the actual +2 or +4, and realized from my other 2e game that I was wrong, because "proficiency bonus equals your level plus 2, 4, 6, or 8, respectively" ... it isn't just that trained or expert part. Sorry... still learning.

My point is that I haven't kept track of what skills are Trained, Expert, etc. I need to re-build Morsun, not to change him, but to know how he got the points he did. Plus, I need to redesign his character sheet in a way that makes sense to me. So this will have to wait, sorry.

Were we able to heal up overnight? I'm assuming that we were able to have natural healing from resting (Con modifier in hit points healed), but if Sazen was able to do her treat wounds thing or cast cure spells in the morning, that would be great.

This module is almost over, right? I think we either need to keep it moving so we can finish it off, or we need to just call it here. Throkk isn't coming back and Emri seems to have given up as well. A combat round every two weeks is just too slow.

I've asked Kevin what's up in another campaign I'm in with him. If I get a response, I'll let you know.
