Venturing deeper into the cave, the Pathfinders find the stench from north of the entryway diminishes somewhat, but the overall effect is still stunningly unpleasant. The cave splits, opening to the south and west, but both corridors lead to the same place – the ogre’s horrifying dining room!
A massive pile of refuse lies in the middle of this room. Animal parts and partially eaten fruit and vegetables make up most of the pile, and flies lazily buzz around the perimeter. An enormous ogre sits partially atop the refuse pile, with his back against it, as if sitting on a disgusting, makeshift throne. He is focused on tearing at and gnawing on a mutilated boar carcass, but as the Pathfinders enter, the ogre grunts loudly, then raises a massive boar haunch high, as if to throw it!
In addition to the ogre, the party catches occasional glimpses of a number of large, fat rodents ducking in and out of the refuse file.

Packet’s stabs are quick and sneaky, but so is the fat rodent, and both strikes miss! Hampton has better luck, and his arrows hit the ogre, though they look like tiny pins sticking out of the creature’s massive bulk! The ogre looks down at the little stabby things protruding from his flesh and grunts in anger and confusion. He gets ponderously to his feet and angrily hurls the boar haunch at Hampton! He then reaches down to the floor and picks up a very, very large axe…

Pregenerated PF2S Character |

Seeing the massive axe headed straight for him, Valeros raises his shield, interposing the wood and metal between him and the giant blade! There's a deafening smash, splinters are sent flying everywhere, and Valeros is left standing there holding the handle of a completely destroyed shield, with a small scratch on his arm. Unfortunately, he's too dazed to dodge the backswing, which catches him across the chest and leaves a nearly-mortal gash in his chest.
So I believe with Shield Block, Valeros can reduce the first hit to 1 damage (destroying his shield in the process). The second takes him down to 1hp.

Packet is clearly done with the shrew-like creature that keeps biting him, as he cuts it twice and kills it! Hampton sends a volley of arrows at the ogre, but only one of them strikes true. Fortunately for the intrepid Pathfinders, that lone arrow is enough! The ogre reaches up to pull the annoying stingy-stick from his shoulder, too slow-witted to realize he’s already dead! As his hand moves up, the rest of his massive body moves down, crashing to the cave floor like a mighty, diseased oak!

I believe the answer to that is always yes - the spell doesn’t really say you have to have an object handy, that it must be a certain size or material, etc. in short, yes, you can cast it.

Rax's downward strike kills a giant shrew, and his upward swing finishes off the last one! Though the room still smells something awful, it is now quiet except for Valeros' wet, labored breathing.
Valeros is at Dying 2, needs a stabilization check to not go to dying 3. I believe Packet has fought off the poison and no one else is subject to it, so that should be it for conditions.

DM Khel |

Biago is able to slowly pour the healing elixir down Valeros' throat. After a cough or two, Valeros regains consciousness.

Valeros is at 2 HP and has the Wounded 1 condition.
Meh, that's double what Hampton has! LOL
Cautiously, Hampton pokes about the cave. The orcs only mentioned the ogre, but the giant shrews were an unpleasant surprise, so he wants to make sure nothing else is lurking.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Looks like all the potions are used, yeah. No one appears trained in Medicine, nor does it appear we have a healer kit, so I think we are what we are.

DM Khel |

It’s a bit of a disgusting process, but searching through the refuse heap, the Pathfinders find the bodies of the slain orcs of Grakcha's clan. The metal in their gear has started to rust and the leather to rot. Two other bodies also lie in the pile. They are half-eaten, but most likely human. One of the bodies still wears a pair of gold earrings set with gems, the other a set of silver bracelets.
Though badly wounded, the party searches the rest of the cave complex. The horrible smell to the north of the entrance turns out to have come from the ogre using the area as a latrine, and the Pathfinders’ visit to is is blessedly brief. The only other room of note is a makeshift bedroom, where beds have been pulled from elsewhere in the cave and pushed together to form one large misshapen sleeping place. The beds have collapsed and now lean haphazardly against each other. The blankets and pillows are filthy, and flies buzz about. A quick search of the bedding reveals a pile of copper and silver coins of Chelaxian, Isgeri, Druman, and Molthuni denominations.
With the ogre defeated, the Pathfinders return to the orc camp, where the orcs are very happy that they can return to their home. They offer a lot of heavy congratulatory pats on the back, and invite the party to spend the night and join them for a feast. As the feast winds on, it seems the orcs have managed to scrounge up several bottles of strong alcohol, and the group sings rowdy songs deep into the night. Though a bit bleary the following morning, Grakcha promises she and her band will leave any caravan coming through their territory in peace.
Feeling a good deal better after a rest – though more than a little hung over – the party continues their journey into Molthue, and the rest of the trip to Canorate is uneventful. A few days after arriving in Canorate, as they are preparing to set off for the various places they call home, our heroes run into the young Chelaxian nobles, who have just arrived via the longer route to Canorate. The nobles are extremely grateful for the help the Pathfinders gave them, and they have realized that without that help, they might have died on the mountain. As a token of gratitude, they give the party a magical staff.
This is an animal staff, which will be on the chronicle.
Glad to be traveling by a proper road, the Pathfinders set off south, headed to warmer lands and whatever adventures await them on their next mission.
That’s it, folks! I’ll get chronicles soon. Great playing with you all!

![]() |

Huzzah! Thanks for running, DM Khel, and thanks all for a fun table!

DM Khel |

As one would expect, it takes the Chelaxian bureaucracy quite a bit of time to go through the best possible proposed routes, and to send teams of their own to travel and validate the routes. In the end, however, the Pathfinders’ route is deemed the quickest and safest!
