Ok...it sounds like we'll have the two characters who have been involved from the beginning at 3rd level after this adventure and other folks will be able to bring in 3rd level or higher characters.
With that and as We Be Goblins Too is a second level and so Kal and Castinus couldn't get credit for it we'll skip We Be Goblins Too and go straight to Storming the Diamond Gate after this one.
I'll keep We Be Goblins Too in my back pocket for the next time we need a quick adventure before a Gameday or somesuch.

This is Quensha’s fifth scenario so she will still be two.
I don’t mind playing up for one scenario (is that allowed?) and working on some GM credit to bring her in line with everyone else.
If it’s a 3-5 I can play a pre-gen for one game and get that GM credit at the same time.

It's a 3-7 (as are several more) so you could play a pre-gen, apply a GM credit you get while we're playing that one to Quensha then drop back in with the group for the next 3-7. You do have to be at least the minimum level to play a scenario so Quensha wouldn't be able to participate.
Alternatively, if we want to keep this particular band together a bit longer, we could play a non-Tapestry related 1-5 scenario.

It's cool. I'll play Crowe: he's fun to RP.
Any suggestions for a scenario to run?
So far, I have run Wounded Wisp, the first part of Gallows of Madness and I am half-way through running Broken Chains right now.
| EbonFist |
I've actually ONLY run the games in this string of scenarios, so I don't have a lot of advice.
Although...this thread suggests that there's plenty of interest for a We Be Goblins, Too game (and I wouldn't mind playing, myself.)
As a general rule, the later the season the more I like the scenarios. The chronicle sheets get better and I think the writing improves.

The main thing, whether it be playing this party, or goblins, or something else, is the effort of the DM and the players, and the momentum to move the games forward. Count me in to whatever is decided. I'm enjoying playing with you guys.
Kal'ryon

Yep. I would gladly keep playing with this group - tapestry, non tapestry, GM replay- wouldn't matter to me. It may not always be Kal, but when I find a good group of players I tend to want to run with them as long as they keeo going.

Happy Thanksgiving ! to all you colonial rebels. But what's this about turkeys - I thought you all dressed as skeletons and ate groundhogs? Or have I got your winter festivals mixed up?

To be fair, you all missed out on one of the best holidays already, Guy Fawkes Night, so it only seems fair that you get to have something of your own instead.
Given Guy Fawkes was a catholic terrorist intent on violently ending protestant rule in England, he was probably the sort of fellow the original US colonists were desperate to escape !

I don’t know about that: weren’t they religious zealots frustrated by how laid back the Church of England had become? I reckon that gives them some common ground with Fawkes.

I think it was a pretty heterogeneous lot that came over. Even during the Revolution, the fraction of people who actually wanted to secede was only about 1/3, with another 1/3 preferring to remain with the British Empire and 1/3 who were neutral.
| EbonFist |
Oh, yeah...the Pilgrims would absolutely have been opposed to Guy Fawkes and the Church of England...and anyone else who wasn't a Pilgrim.
They didn't come to America for religious freedom, they came to America because they couldn't make everyone else follow their religion (and I'm pretty sure they were asked to leave.)
I've never understood Guy Fawkes day, btw. Even with Castinus' explanation, it seems like you guys are celebrating a guy who tried to destroy your government. Are you celebrating his capture? His failure? Something he stood for but tried to enact in a misguided way?
Castinus Fulvio
|
It was a turbulent time. Queen Elizabeth I, a protestant, had died and passed the throne onto James VI of Scotland (becoming James I of England). Many Catholics had hoped that with her death England would rejoin the Catholic faith, and were disappointed that this did not happen. Meanwhile for geo-policical reasons, Catholic France and Spain were happy to encourage dissent in England however they could, including by sending Jesuit trained priests to preach and forment trouble. Guy (or Guido) Fawkes was one of these. Things didn't end so well for him; he was captured in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament the day before the King was to attend Parliament (the same one you see today) in a cellar full of gunpowder.
Guy Fawkes Night is not a celebration of him as such - rather, originally a celebration that the plot was foiled and the King and Parliament saved. Part of which was to burn a 'Guy' on the top of the fire.
These days events tend to gloss over the religious terrorism backdrop to this. Although it seems some people's ideologies are still stuck in the 17th century - as I see from news from London Bridge just today...
Quensha Elberion

I always wonder if burning the Guy is like symbolic justice: he tried to burn down the government; he burns down every year.
It’s the fireworks that make it odd (historically): celebrating stop explosions by causing explosions...

Also, it’s late autumn, winds picking up and still leaves on some trees.
Cutting back growth before the winter.
Anywhere rural has a lot of deadfall and useless wood this time of year, and the nights are drawing in. Bonfires!

Ok guys...at the risk of grinding the play to a halt, I'll tell you that this scenario is all over but the wrap up (unless someone decides to attack a Jadwiga for no real reason.)
Please provide me the following information and I'll work up the chronicle sheets ASAP. I'll also get Storming the Diamond Gate set up and post the link in here soonish.

Let me know what you guys think of this scenario. I've now run it and played it and liked it both ways but I can't quite tell if the search for the sky key was a red herring and the real story was about Uliyara or if Uliyara was a red herring and the real story was the search for the Sky Key.

I liked the scenario, and assuming there were a lot of different ways this could have played out (fighting the Ulfen, fighting the wolf, etc), I think it's a well written scenario where people can murderhobo if they want and have 0.5 total rounds of combat if they want.
I don't mind the red herring scenarios. It's way more fun than dungeon crawls.

I agree with you, Tim; this was an atmospheric and varied scenario. GM, when you played it before, how did those games differ from ours?
My favourite so far of the scenarios you have run is Severing Ties. Roll on Storming the Diamond Gate !

Levelling up to 3rd, I have been suffering my usual level of indecision over what feat to take. Kal I toyed with the idea of asking you if you wanted to both go Precise Strike; I loved the idea of Frightening Ambush (halfway useful with a high Init and Inspiration/Intimidate). I feel I wussed out by opting for the practical Weapon Versatility with my reliance on a rapier.
And triple-classing into Magus was a fleeting temptation, too...
Fiata Oe
|
If you are smart enough for Magus, then Occultist should also be an option.
Dropping Lead Blades & the BANE weapon property on your rapier will do some damage. Just temptin' sayin'!
Kal'ryon
|
Once Kal hits level 4, he has 3 module GM credits that will auto-apply to him- jumping him immediately to 7. That means he really only has 3 adventures left with this group before leveling out. Of course, I have other characters in this tier that I could sub in.
His development plan is 5 levels of Blood Rager into 7 levels of Dragon Disciple (white dragon, hence the cold comments) to finish out his pathfinder career.

Regarding Storming the Diamond Gate:
Even last week, I was kind of holding out hope that there would be more live PFS1 play. I had intended to play StDG online with a 4th level pregen and assign the credit to Bocke.
As people have released schedules for January (and December games didn't fill), it's becoming less likely that my 5th level alchemist will see any play until a convention in February. If it's not disruptive, I'd like to play Diazepane Ketal instead of the pregen.
Diazepane has Precise Bombs and Splash Weapon Mastery, which is something I always point out at the tables because people get irked at taking errant splash damage.
Also, I'll be out of tier assuming we're playing 3-4.
I'll play the pregen if even a single person objects (you can PM me), I'd rather play the pregen with everyone happy than have someone get mad if/when one of my bombs goes awry.
Kal'ryon

Kal could care less about being damaged by bombs. Manic laughter
| EbonFist |
Kal, I'm sorry to hear that you won't be making the run with us with this character. I'm really liking him. It's always nice to see the Agent of Chaos played without being a total maniac. But I look forward to seeing who else you bring.
Bocke, I don't think anyone will mind you playing out of tier. 5 is the level in the 3-7 range that isn't in either tier so you'd be out of tier either way.
Also, can you make your day job roll so I can put the GP on your sheet?
| EbonFist |
Oh, and I just created a Magus (mindblade) whose going to multiclass into Occultist (battlehost) next level specifically for the Baning...well, and the Masterwork Platemail.

I've got your day job roll, Bocke and I'll add it on your sheet.
As far as a conversation started yesterday -
When I played this one, I think we fought the guards at the river and the winter wolf (no one thought to intimidate it away.) I wanted to fight Kiryena at the end, too but got outvoted.
Bocke Reed
|
Up until the very end, I thought we would have to join with the witches to fight the Ulfen or join with the Ulfen to fight the witches.
I figured someone was going to follow us to the cave and ambush us on the way out. I was secretly hoping it would be both groups and we'd have a nice little free for all (Paizo doesn't seem to like massive, chaotic battles).

I suppose I could always reassign those chronicles to another character too, if this group is staying together. I will admit, the path to level 6 (the first DD level) seems like a long journey to get to the more fun part of his character build.
Either way, I have at least 3 more scenarios before I have to worry about it!.
I'll get him leveled up and off we go!

Technically, you won't be leveled out for most adventures since the next range of tiers is 3-7. You'd just be playing out of tier...by a lot. So, less gold and probably not much of a challenge. Although, with the right combination of other character levels, we could actually play in the high tier and then the 4's would be out of tier and get extra gold, but have to worry about things being too challenging.

You're chronicle sheet is over here, Ichio (and is the only one I got completely right, even though I had to go back and fix the gold.)
The next bunch of adventures are levels 3-9 so you'll be right at home in them with a 5th level character.
Feel free to drop by over here to join us in Storming the Diamond Gate. We'd enjoy for you to join us.
