About Diazepane Ketal

Background Summary

Diazepane Ketal was a beekeeper whose colony unknowingly carried poison. When his friends and family started dying, he turned to alchemy to try to save them.

Personality:
Diazepane is a bit of a know-it-all and arrogant, but fiercely defends good causes in social situations and in battle.

Casting: Alan Rickman (Severnus Snape from the Harry Potter series)

Theme Song: Wynter Gordon, "World on Fire"

Background Narrative:
Death was an unfortunate, but unsurprising, reality in the wilds of Varisia. Farmers that had hired Diazepane's bee colonies started dying, but nobody even suspected a pattern at first. When the pollenation season was complete, Diazepane would pack up his bee colonies, say some quick words of consolation to the families of the farmers, and unwittingly bring a cloud of death to the next field.

It wasn't until the harvest season that Diazepane suspected he was the cause. Opening the hives to harvest the honey, he saw the black specks of disease that had infected the hives. That winter, Diazepane sought out as many books on alchemy as he could find, looking for a cure.

There was only one solution.

As snow swirled around the hibernating hive, Diazepane prepared two vials - one with a small amount of mead, and one with a small amount of drake's blood. As he marched out to the hives, the guard bees could smell his determination. Some of the guards struck at him, but Diazepane had long built tolerance to the bees' venom. He could hear the alert ripple through the colonies as swarms of soldiers were awakened as he mixed the mead and drake's blood. Concentrating, he saw the glow of magic, and he hurled the vial at the hives.

Boons:

Accumulating an Army (Elven Uprooters): This boon is cumulative with any other Accumulating an Army boons you possess, expands your additional options when preparing for the expedition, and grants you additional benefits when directly commanding the Uprooters.

Advocate for Hao Jin: You can check a box next to this boon as a standard action to gain a +2 bonus on Sense Motive checks and Diplomacy checks for the rest of the adventure. [ ][ ][ ]

Accumulating an Army (Mammoth Riders): This boon is cumulative with any other Accumulating an Army boons you possess, expands your additional options when preparing for the expedition, and grants you additional benefits when directly commanding mammoth riders.

[ ] [ ] [ ] Champion of the Farheavens: You can check a box next to this boon as a standard action to conjure a small, feathered bear to aid you (use the statistics for a dire badger as though casting summon monster II with a caster level equal to your character level).

Concern for Liberty: You learned of the political climate in Andoran, and the news has inspired you and Major Colson Maldris to hunt down elements of corruption in the fledgling democracy. Whenever you would receive more than one Will save to overcome an enchantment (compulsion) effect, you gain a +2 bonus on the extra Will saves against that effect. Once per scenario as an immediate action, you may extend this benefit to an adjacent ally for 1 round.

[ ] Cornered Fury: Whenever you are reduced to half or fewer of your total hit points, and have no conscious ally within 30 feet, you gain a +2 morale bonus on melee attack rolls and to Armor Class.

[ ] Curious Pipefox: Yrishi the pipefox wants to keep adventuring with you. A spellcaster of at least 7th level can take Yrishi as a familiar with the Improved Familiar feat. Instead of taking Yrishi as a familiar, you can ask her to perform research for you. Cross the boon off your Chronicle before attempting a Knowledge (history or religion) check to treat your result as if it were 25. Alternatively, you may gain +5 on the check.

Dogged Adventurer: If your next Chronicle sheet for this character is from #3-22: Rats of Round Mountain, Part II (Pagoda of the Rat), you may receive a special reward at the scenario's conclusion. You may purchase up to one suit of armor and one shield of the types and sizes permitted for a Huge dragon, as presented on CRB 154. Underworld dragons hides are immune to fire.

Earth Affinity: Your connection to elemental earth has grown stronger over the course of your recent adventures. This boon has no mechanical effect on its own, but it may interact with other boons or play a role in future adventures—especially those set on the elemental planes.

Executioner of 322: This boon may have benefits and effects for the Pathfinder Second Edition organized play campaign.

Explore, Report, Cooperate: As a free or immediate action, you may consider whether a particular action you name would help realize the goals of the Pathfinder Society. The GM then informs you whether the action's impact would be positive, negative, or negligible.

[ ] [ ] Firebreaker: When you would fail a skill or ability check related to putting out a fire, or a saving throw against an effect that deals fire damage, you can check a box that precedes this boon to reroll the check. This reroll represents the goblin rushing to your aid.

Friend of Janira Gavix: She helps you perform research, granting you a +1 bonus on Knowledge checks attempted while you are in the Grand Lodge.

Friend of the Family: You are granted a permanent +1 bonus on Diplomacy and Knowledge (nobility) checks made within Absalom.

Greenheart's Blessing: A small fraction of the luck and fortune in business that imbues the market stays with you as a result, and brings you success for the rest of your life. You receive a +2 bonus on all Day Job checks.

[ ] [ ] History of the Sunsu Godae: You can check a box that precedes this boon before rolling Knowledge (history) and Knowledge (local) checks related to Tian Xia to get a +5 bonus on the check.

Horn of Aroden: You recovered the Horn of Aroden, a relic once used to bolster the forces of good and defeat Deskari's minions. This instrument is powerless now, but the Pathfinder Society is certain that it may be useful in the upcoming expedition to Jormurdun and in Mendev's fight against the Worldwound.

[ ] Impressive Find: Once you earn 12 or more Fame, your superiors award you 1 additional Prestige Point (but not Fame) in recognition of your excellence. You cannot have more Prestige Points than Fame.

Impressive Influence: You impressed one or more of the guests in attendance: Nigel Aldain, Alexander Bedard, Hamaria Blakros, Tancred Desimire, Jeon Raeng-Woo, Rubaani Shafar.

Impressive Influence: During the course of the feast at Fiddlemourn Manor, you impressed one or more of the guests in attendance. Lady Dyrianna of House Avenstar, Lord Rothos of House Vastille, Scion Lord Kerkis of House Damaq, Lady Darchana of House Madinani, Grand Ambassador Dremdhet Salhar.

[ ] Jiraku's Respect: By checking the box preceding this boon, you may use one of the spell-like abilities. Use your character level as the caster level (DC 17)[/b]: dispel magic, invisibility, longstrider, mirage arcana, stone shape, or wind wall.

Kami Reunited: You gain a +2 bonus on Charisma-based skills to influence kami and oni, and on saving throws to resist their spells and other abilities. Once per adventure as a swift action, you may activate one of the following abilities:

• Jiraku's Eternal Path: Until the beginning of your next turn, you may move through 10 feet of difficult terrain as if it were normal terrain. During this time, you also gain a +3 bonus on saving throws against any effect that would impede your movement. When this effect ends, you gain 1d8+5 hit points.

• Tanbaru's Insight: For the next 10 minutes, you gain a +2 insight bonus on Perception checks and the ability to cast detect magic at will as a spell-slike ability. When this effect ends, you receive the answer to a single question as if you had cast augury (CL 6), or divination, or commune.

[ ] The Kirin's Debt Repaid: If you have the Debt of the Kirin boon from a previous adventure, Iko Tsuneo offers to purchase back the ancient letter of credit in return for one of his organization's treasures. Choose one item worth up to 3,000 gp. When you next purchase the chosen item, you do so at a 25% discount.

[ ] Light of Hope: You may grant yourself darkvision, or double the range of your existing darkvision, for 10 minutes.

Master Archivist: Whenever you spend at least 1 hour studying in a library (not including libraries that no longer contain books, scrolls, or other research material) during a scenario, choose one Knowledge skill. You gain a +2 competence bonus on trained checks with that skill, and you gain a +1 competence bonus on all other trained Knowledge checks. These benefits last for the rest of the day.

Meditations of the Sacred Flower: You can cross this boon off this Chronicle sheet to use one of the following spells as a spell-like ability with a caster level equal to your character level: commune, mark of justice, or raise dead. The casting time for the spell-like ability is 10 minutes. To use raise dead, you must first infuse the flower with diamond dust worth 5,000 gp.

[ ] [ ] Paranoid Observer: Your dealings with the soulslivers have left you somewhat on edge, constantly watching and listening for inconsistencies and other signs that the people around you may not be who they claim. You can check a box next to this boon to gain a +2 competence bonus on all Perception and Sense Motive checks you make for the duration of a scenario.

[ ] [ ] [ ] Piercing the Veil: At the start of any adventure, you may check a box next to this boon to gain a +1 bonus on all Perception and Sense Motive checks, as well as all Will saving throws made to resist or disbelieve illusions, for the duration of the adventure.

[ ] Purification by Sword: As a free action, you can grant your weapon or a weapon you can touch the flaming property rune for 1 minute. If the weapon already has the flaming property, it instead gains the flaming burst property. This fire damage ignores the fire resistance and fire immunity of any outsider with the evil subtype.

[ ] Return the Favor: You may use this boon to have your body and possessions recovered by a Pathfinder rescue team at no cost.

[ ] Righteous Redemption: You can check the box that precedes this boon to requisition one of the following: a satchel containing six flasks of holy water and an oil of bless weapon; two scrolls of lesser restoration; a combat-trained warhorse (heavy or light) with a military saddle, bit bridle, and week of feed; a masterwork longsword; or a masterwork lance.

Runewarden's Teachings: All of your Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild characters have access to the Runeguard prestige class from Pathfinder Player Companion: Paths of the Righteous.

Shortcut to the Center of the World: Whenever you are adventuring in Varisia, you may take advantage of any boon or vanity that relies on you being in the city of Absalom as if you were in the city.

Sky Key Component (Hao Jin Tapestry): You have recovered one of the five lost components of the strange relic known as the Sky Key. This piece once belonged to Naldak, who founded the settlement of Naldak’s Point in the Land of the Linnorm Kings, in a region that is now part of Irrisen.

Spider's Captor: You gain an official writ of appreciation from the People's Council granting you a +5 bonus on any Diplomacy check made to influence a government official within the nation of Andoran.

Tanbaru’s Respect: You have helped the spirit oni Tanbaru get revenge on the duergar. A Lawful spellcaster of at least 7th level may take Tanbaru as a familiar with the Improved Familiar feat. Tanbaru functions as a standard spirit oni in all ways, except that the influence of a lawful good spellcaster changes his alignment to lawful neutral. If you make this bond with Tanbaru, you must provide a copy of the Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 3 as if the improved familiar were available as an Additional Resource. If you do not take Tanbaru as a familiar, he gifts you with a tiny portion of the power he retains from his days as a dosojin kami. You may use one of the following as a spell-like ability once, using your character level as your caster level. After you use one of these spell-like abilities, cross this boon off your Chronicle Sheet. If you use this spell-like ability, you cannot later select Tanbaru as an improved familiar.
Subtier 5–6: You may cast dispel magic, fog cloud, or invisibility.
[ ] Subtier 8–9: You may cast dispel magic, fog cloud, invisibility, mirage arcana, or stone shape.

Tapestry Fast Travel: Select one location on Golarion other than Absalom. You may travel freely from this location to the City at the Center of the World and vice versa. When adventuring in either Absalom or the chosen location, you are treated as being in both locations for the purposes of boons and vanities that are location-dependent.

[X] [ ] Tattoo of the Open Road: As an immediate action when you are struck by a critical hit or dealt at least 15 points of damage from a spell or supernatural ability, you can check the box that precedes this boon and expend the tattoo's magic to gain 10 temporary hit points that last for 1 minute. During this minute, you also treat your Constitution score as if it were 10 higher for the purpose of determining when hit point damage would kill you.

[ ] [ ] [ ] Thassalonian Archivist: Before you attempt a Knowledge check, you can check a box before this boon to add 1d4 to the result. If the Knowledge check is related to Thassilon, sin magic, fleshwarping, or similar topics (at the GM's discretion), add 1d8 instead.

A Torch in the Dark: Keep this Chronicle sheet, as this boon will have certain benefits in the new organized play campaign for the Pathfinder RPG's second edition.

[ ] Treachery in the Weave: You have discovered an Aspis Consortium presence within the Hao Jin Tapestry and the location of their base of operations. If your next Chronicle sheet after this one is from Pathfinder Society Scenario #3–14: Wonders in the Weave, Part II: Snakes in the Fold, you will be eligible for a special boon granted on that Chronicle sheet to PCs completing the two-part series in order in consecutive sessions.

[ ] True Ally of the Lantern Lodge: Whenever you spend 1 Prestige Point to gain a +4 bonus on any one skill check while in Tian Xia, the bonus increases to +5. If you are in Goka, the bonus instead increases to +6.

Wayang’s Favor: You have earned the recognition of a community of wayangs in the Hao Jin Tapestry, granting you a +2 bonus on Charisma-based checks made to influence wayangs. In addition, this boon may be used in conjunction with other boons to grant one or more of your characters access to wayang related options.

World Renowned: To commemorate your victory, you decorated your skin with a tattoo of the Ruby Phoenix’s iconic sigil. When you display the tattoo, you gain a +2 bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, and Intimidate checks against the people of Tian Xia and other Pathfinders. You may select one of the three following boons. After making your selection,
cross all unearned bonuses off your Chronicle sheet. The three additional boons are:
• Merchant Boon: +2 morale bonus on all Day Job checks.
• Signature Move: +2 morale bonus to any one Combat Maneuver of your choice (once you have selected a Combat Maneuver you can not change your selection).
• Signature Spell: choose one spell you can cast at the time of receiving this boon; you cast this spell as if you were a caster 2 levels higher when determining duration and level-based variables.

[ ] [ ] [ ] Worthy Foe: As a swift action, you can heck a box that precedes this boon to gain one of two benefits against dragons and humanoids with the reptilian subtype. First, you can choose to gain a +2 bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls against such creatures, as well as a +2 dodge bonus to AC against such creatures' attacks. Alternatively, you can gain a +2 bonus on caster level checks to overcome those creatures' spell resistance, increase the save DC of your spells and abilities against those creatures by 1, and gain a +2 bonus on saving throws against those creatures' spells and abilities. Either benefit lasts until the beginning of your next turn.
