Yeah, makes stuff like cobbler's tools actually kind of cool (craft hidden compartments, negate exhaustion from long walks by repairing shoes, advantage on investigation checks involving footprints, etc). Also more normal stuff is there like crafting arrows with woodcarvers tools or repairing armor with smith's.

One more Q, if you don't mind:
I was just struck with the image of a reskinned version of Shillelagh except it has to be cast on a tankard instead of a stick, and would allow me to go knocking folks upside the head with my Holy Tankard.
The listed cantrip for Beer is Message...which is fine, but I figured I'd ask if you'd houserule "Tankardllelagh" (either in place of Message, or just as an option to choose for my list) just because it sounds too fun.

Jereru |

It seems some of you come from the Northern lands, and so does my character as well (who's going to be called Dee, the Mongrel). My idea was that he came to Zobeck in a trading ship from the North. Is ok if I mention any of you in my background?
Also: since we're not using tyhose books, I guess we're banned from picking spells from Sword Coast Adventures and Elemental Evil, even though they appear on pages like dndbeyond and dnd-spells.com, am I right?

Jereru |

Sorry about the double posting, but I had some time and wrote down some backstory for Dee. It might change a bit if I decide to mention some other folks, or if something new comes to mind. I hope you like what you read even if it's a bit basic - I usually like to give the final touches through the game itself.
Here you are, Dee, the Mongrel
What he can give to the party: He's a Wizard, so well, some utility spells and PURE LIGHTNING S%~% SLAPPIN' YO MOMMA, MADAFACKAS :P Then he's good with knowledge skills, and well, he'll manage to at least stay silent when other ones are talking :P Thanks to his years in the wilderness, he's got food guaranteed for himself and some others, which might become handy in the explorations parts. And, finally, I hope he can bring lots of laughs thanks to his funny reactions to social conventions and his dress :P

Vrog Skyreaver |

I assume the 3d8 on the Shillelagh cantrip on the KPOGL site is a typo, and that Dragonkin get the regular 1d8 damage as in core?
Cantrips scale with your character, not class, level, so it might be that. Let me take a look.
EDIT: after looking, it's only 1d8 and doesn't scale. It does, however, let you use your wisdom for melee on attack and damage rolls tho!

River of Sticks |

Jorgund is a dragonkin, a native of the city. He's been attached to the city guard for some time now, having started as a raw recruit offered the choice of starving on the street or joining the guard. It did not take long for him to get bored of walking in circles for a living, however. He began noting who had privilege and who did not, and reasoned that power - and magic - were the differentiating factors. Through a combination of luck, stubbornness, and the general greed of the denizens of the underworld, he made a pact with a fiend to gain power. He stayed with the guard, playing off his newfound abilities as if he were a sorcerer; but now he is the magical artillery that gets to go out and mess things up, and Jorgund is much happier with his life for that change.
Mechanically, Edjet Dragonkin with 1 level of fighter and then Warlock (Fiend and Blade) the rest. He fights with a staff and shield, or with fireballs. Not much room in between...
@GM, what about the spells from MHH? Are they gated by domain/circle/etc, or open to anyone with the spell on their list?
EDIT:
Wealth: 1d10 ⇒ 2
Another question on HP; does "whichever is better" mean that we roll, and take the higher of the average or the roll?
One last question: It's from Wayfinders, but would you allow the Ruby of the War Mage? Common, requires attunement, allows a single weapon to be used as a focus and takes 10 minutes to work.

Is there a place where we can see which languages are in use in Midgard?
The Midgard World Book (MWB) has a list of 28 languages starting on page 44. In MHH, you sort of have to parse through the race entries to see who can get what. For the traditional races (elves, dwarves, etc) see PHB.
Common is sometimes referred to as 'Trade Tongue', and everyone gets it except centaurs, gnolls, ravenfolk, and trollkin.

GM Infinity |

scorpion stiletto
The Kobold Press website has it much higher...800gp. I will say that the gp will start rolling in fairly soon and you could make acquiring the weapon part of your in game goals.

GM Infinity |

Yeah its extreme, fluff reasons I assume. The Mharoti Imperial Court of the Southlands is supposed to be super rich and full of intrigue, sort of like Menzoberranzan. The scorpion stiletto is from a cult there, and the stiletto is like a ceremonial blade...incredibly ornate and pricey even if it didn't have the reputation and overtones of being an assassin's weapon.
It could also just be the price with a vial of emerald scorpion poison included in it (the poison price alone by itself is likely listed in an old PF splat I don't have). If you want to have a stiletto with just the concealed blade and release venom features (poison not included), lets say 50 gp to represent tracking down and persuading/killing an assassin, smith or merchant.

GM Infinity |

what about the spells from MHH?
Its open to whatever is on your spell list, not gated.
does "whichever is better" mean that we roll, and take the higher of the average or the roll?
Yes, just one public roll per level.
Ruby of the War Mage
Not allowing magic items except the potions and scrolls to start with, but they will start dropping in the adventure pretty quick. One of which might be the Ruby.

Alright, I used Hero Labs to create my sheet...and found that their ability to output all but a tiny % of the sheet in BBCode is broken. Happily, there was a custom HTML output option that's pretty slick.
GM Infinity, I hope this is OK for a sheet format. If not, please let me know. I can tweak the HTML if needed.
I've also created an official alias: Kjeta Strongmalt of Kubourg, Cleric of Ninkash
Notes:
* Her name has changed since I first proposed her. The 'j' is pronounced like a 'y', and her name rhymes with Greta.
* I've added some traits / ideals / flaws, but expect to expand on them somewhat to give her a fully background
* Still need to finish equipment
* If you use the Paizo Campaign Tools Chrome extension, you can replace the default Paizo image for her with this one: https://jfry.github.io/gyrfalcon/kjeta-square.jpg
Comments and questions welcome!
Oh! And rolls...
Wealth: 1d10 ⇒ 7
HP: 6d8 ⇒ (4, 6, 7, 6, 6, 4) = 33

Jereru |

Thank you. I think I can say that [/b]Dee, the Mongrel[/b] is ready to go - though there is still money to be invested, it doesn't seem a very important thing, just one potion here, a scroll there.
I've taken the liberty of renaming some spells to sound more "windy", I hope you don't mind. The links take you to the proper standard spells anyway.

Deimus |

Dreaming Warforged here, working on my application. In the meantime, here's a quick background. Feel free to comment, suggest, and ask questions.
Deimus was born in the slums of Zobeck to a poor Kobold clutch. His father did everything he could to have his son climb above his station, above his lot. He pushed Deimus hard, until the young Kobold managed to secure a proper tinker trade, instead of working with his father in Dwarven mines.
As soon as he felt stable in his station, Deimus turned his power towards activism, using his trade, his talent for words, and the knowledge of books and tales to inspire Zobeck's Kobolds and fight for their rights. Soon, a small community rallied around him. That's when trouble started. It quickly escalated and a red dawn found the body of Deimus lying face down in the gutter.
Yet, someone picked his dead husk and promptly brought it to the High temple of Rava, where Deimus's transformation was secretly arranged and paid for.
Still uncomfortable in his new form, and unclear as to who killed him and who raised him, and for what motive, Deimus walks again the streets of Zobeck, with nothing but a renewed sense of purpose and a lot of questions.

gyrfalcon |

Thinking a bit more about Kjeta's background. As a folk hero, I imagine she emboldened some of the brewers and hops farmers around Kubourg to rise up against a local threat. I was just reading some in the Midgard World Book, to get to know the lore. I see that the Selang (dark satyrs) live in the Wastes to the west of the Ironcrags. I could see a group of selang and other twisted fey terrorizing the hops farmers on the outskirts of Kubourg, and Kjeta emboldening the dwarven villagers to fight back and not let the harvest be destroyed.
I'm happy to go with that...but let me know if there's anything you'd suggest instead that ties better to the campaign.
Otherwise, I don't know how useful a donkey and a wagon-full of kegs of the finest dwarven ales will be...but I couldn't resist. I suspect in the opening scene (if selected) Kjeta's enjoying the show but also running a booth where she shares the Good News and Good Brews of Ninkash, the Mother of Ales.
One practical question: what do you want in terms of pre-game crafting? It seems like the most mechanically relevant thing would be having made one's own armor or some healing potions at 1/2 price. Any limits you want to set there?

GM Infinity |

Black Dow, sorry to hear it. Don't feel too pressured by other's submissions, I'm no elitist...just after a good time more than amazing writing. Though I enjoy writing too.
Deimus, sounds awesome, I'd like to hear a description of the gearforged body (not required, just saying).
gyrfalcon, only limits on pre-game crafting is the gold, what tool proficiencies you have, and access to the tools...and the item must be mundane. Pretty much the XGE crafting rules. For magic items, potions of healing can be made with herbalism kit, and scrolls up to and including 2nd can be scribed by spellcasters.

GM Infinity |

Hrungnir, yes, if you want to say Hrungnir crafted that splint, it would be 100gp (and 4 weeks of your pre-game life). You would also of course need a forge but that can be easily explained with your backstory. If you want we can even say you've been running a forge in Zobeck for a few months if willing to pay the monthly costs (again, this sort of thing probably better to get into post-selection).

Hrungnir |

Starting gold: 750 (rolled a 10!)
Spent all on plate armor (his masterpiece! Much of the money to make it came from liquidating his business, Such was his obsession with fulfilling the instructions of his fey love that he did not plan to return)
Starting Equipment: Chain sold for 25 gold (profits from his Forge)
Crossbow sold for 12 gold
Hammer and shield kept
10 gold from Background
Total 42 gold for travel expenses left

I guess a shadow monk might not fit
What I got from the reading was that Zobeck is the cosmopolitan all-gathering city where all kinds of cultures can be found, so I guess it's just a matter of finding a good excuse for you to be here.
-"Why are you here from such a faraway land?"
+"There's no comic store in my home town."
-"Ah, right..."

Constantin's Background
*Constantin was the third son (And first Dhampir) of a minor Vampire Lord in Morgau. The rest of his "family" were full blooded Vampires, and his mother was a serving wench in their employee.
*Both to protect him from the constant abuse of his brothers and sisters, and for help in gathering information, he was sent to the Southlands at a young age, to serve a trusted ally there.
*He made journeys home every few years to report what he had discovered, and visit.
* In the Southlands he learned a type of combat more common in these warm lands using two swords, light armor and a quick dancing style.
* When his Mentor in the Southlands was killed, he escaped clandestinely in the night back to the continent.
* He ended up reporting back the incident to the sire of the clan, and now for the past year had been reassigned to work for the clan in Zobeck.
* He had learned to love the cosmopolitan flavor of the city, and it's many differing people, and had in fact fallen in with a group of people that he considered the first "self-chosen" friends in his life.
* Constantin now considers Zobeck home. He is accepted here more than anywhere he's ever lived including Morgau, and he is just "useful" enough to have contacts with both the clans in Zobeck, and his home.

Fey-Touched
Raseri was found near Zobeck a few years ago with no more than vague memories of her past. She remembers being lost and that she struck a terrible deal with a silver-eyed fey, but not the terms nor why she went through with it given how poorly she feels it went for her. She remembers another fey showing her kindness and compassion just as she was about to do something drastic. She knows that the kindly fey also helped her in getting back to Midgard, but as with most of her memories from before she was found, most are vague with a few strong emotions or memories clear as crystal. She was found with most of her gear and has been making a living ever since as another sword arm and healer.
Still, she keeps looking over her shoulder and wondering when the day will come that the fay will collect on her debt.
Personality Traits
- Express Myself in Music and Song - I love to express myself with music and song.
- Mistrustful of Strangers - I’m mistrustful of strangers, doubly so if they’re trying to give me anything.
Ideal
- Compassion - I was shown mercy when I needed it most, and I will spread that boon across the world. (Good)
Bond
- Dire Destiny - The fey who marked me hinted at a dire destiny.
Flaw
- Bad Deal Waiting for Collection - I made a deal once. It was the worst bargain I’ve ever made, and I know one day the silver-eyed creature will return to collect what I owe.

Like many a good story, Lexi's begins with fire raining from the sky.
Alexiyana's father, Boris Restov, was the headman of a village of lumberjacks, woodworkers, and assorted forestry types. Their village, so small it didn't even have a name, was located in what was once the Grand Duchy of Illyria.
When the Dragon Empire came, Lexi was less than a 10 year old girl, having just barely learned her letters and numbers. she watched as men in scale armor broke into the schoolhouse where most of her friends were hiding, while her mother drug her away by the hand; she still hears their screams in her nightmares.
Like the survivors of other villages, Alexiyana and her mother joined a refugee train headed away from the invading forces. though they stayed together for a time, eventually most people went on their way and it wasn't long before Alexiyana and her mother were captured by bandits; not wanting the girl to watch what came next, the put a bag over her head and then availed themselves of her mother. While she could not see, she heard enough, including the drawing of a blade and her mother's last breath.
For her part, Alexiyana was kept untouched to be sold into slavery, as they knew men would would pay a good price for such a privilege. It was as she was being led through the gates of the city that she saw her chance to escape: one of the bandits was careless. In trying to keep her bound hands hidden to avoid suspiciion, he allowed them to stray too close to the dagger on her belt.
It was on that day that something changed inside of her.
sliding the knife out of it's sheath, she hamstrung the bandit then fled into the city. The city of Zobeck.
Lexi spent the next 3 years living on the street, stealing and killing wantonly, until she picked the wrong pocket; the pocket of a hired killer named Zokhan. When he snatched her hand off his coinpurse, she drew her knife, and he drew his.
Drawing her into an alley, he explained that she had two choices: she could either become his apprentice, or she could die. There was something in his voice, or perhaps his specific choice of words, that terrified Lexi. She accepted, and after taking away her knife, he examined it then replaced it with one if his own, a odd silvered dagger she came to learn was called a Scorpion Stilleto. Thus began her three year apprenticeship into the arts of the assassin. She learned how stalk through the dark, completely unseen, how to pick pockets and track men; even how to use some minor magic.
Less than six months ago, Lexi (she had shortened her name when she became Zokhan's apprentice) awoke in the small apartment they were sharing and Zokhan was gone, having left a note in his terse handwriting that she read You are ready now. Do not fear, or hesitate. -Z
Lexi went out and found work in a variety of jobs, most of them criminal; sometimes, however, she would take bodyguard jobs, both because the pay was good, and because she could learn how best to get around or deal with people in that line of work.
Thus it was that she accepted a job for an evening guarding the 17th daughter of a rich nobleman, who feared for his daughter's safety at a theater that very evening. She explained that his daughter would be kept safe, and she would be practically invisible, as long as his daughter had a private box. the nobleman agreed, and lexi shadowed the girl's carriage to the theater, then slid into her private box and made herself invisible.
The girl noticed nothing when she entered and took her seat.
