Makes perfect sense, it's just that for me the background contributes to/rationalizes the mechanics/crunch... and the game mechanics are usually based on the setting and intended type of game.
Wouldn't want to bring a knife to a gun fight, as it were.
He's a nice guy, takes pride in his work... A healthy level of detail, but not a perfectionist. Things change, he adapts. The right tool for the job. Sometimes the tool is you. Brings some art to crafting, creativity to complement the mechanical operations.
He's helpful, open and gregarious.

One more week until Recruitment closes.
I intend to make a decision before the week of the 7th ends, likely the weekend, and then we will move into Discussion and creation.
--- • (Gabriel XIII) I can see the concept you're aiming at, I think?
Anderlorn • In progress?
JohnTheSavage • In progress?
Ashe •Atsuko is potentially done, have you considered how/where the L5R concepts might translate into Golarion? What region do they hail from?

So been wanting to try Spheres of Power for a bit, and was suckered in by the Temporal Travel tradition for the Hedgewitch, it was an interesting fluff concept and figuring out how that might fit in Golarion was interesting. Let me know if you've got any questions.
Name: Carwyn
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Hedgewitch. Traditions: Academia & Temporal Travel
Personality: Carwyn inherited both determination and intelligence from her parents. Unlike her parents she has found that she is rather sociable, enjoying more company and conversation than she had the opportunity to experience in her parents independent and isolated house. Though the combined impact of limited contact with childhood peers and her displacement in time means that even with the best of intentions she does not always find success in social activities.
Backstory: Carwyn's parents were deeply in love, and it grieved both of them no end that their lifespans would force a separation long before either of them were ready. To prevent they delved into arcane research eventually finding a way to master time and age in sync with each other.
Sometime after this they had Carwyn expanding their family. She grew up happy and loved within the peaceful home they had built. But it was not to last. Their home was attacked and as her parents turned their use of time magic to combat, Carwyn was told to flee. And so she ran, doing her best to dodge the magical attacks wrecking destruction around her.
Once outside of her home Carwyn made for the nearest village, hoping to find someone to help. But it was drastically changed from when she had last come there. And when she returned to the place her home was supposed to be it there was nothing.
Concluding that she had been transported through time during the battle Carwyn made a decision. She would pursue mastery of time magic herself and return home to her parents and ensure their safety from whatever attacked them.
Trade: With the unfamiliar surroundings and need to survive Carwyn took to working with merchant caravans as needed to travel anyways, to seek out the resources to learn advanced time magic. She was fortunate to be taken in by Taryl another half-elf who lead a caravan. While initially Carwyn worked whatever odd jobs were available her intelligence soon led to her training in keeping records and accounts for the caravan. It was during this training that she realised that the only way the caravan could be making such good time on their travels was through the use of time magic. When she told Taryl of her discovery the half-elf agreed to teach her what she knew of magic in addition to the logistics of managing a caravan. Once Taryl had taught Carwyn what she could she turned the caravan towards the school and left Carwyn there to further her magical education.
OOC Notes: I haven’t come to a decision about the enemies that attacked Carwyn’s home or whether she traveled forward or backward in time. I think that both those things have a greater effect on the campaign and world than Carwyn’s backstory so wanted to develop those along with you if selected.

Sorry was out of office a couple days.
Yes she would be from Tian Xia. The family that found her could have moved to the west around Sandport. They could be cousins or closer family to the Kaijitsu family. Ameiko owns the Rusty Dragon bar there. If this takes place before the Jade Regent AP. Maybe we do the Jade Regent AP and this is a tie in :)
Class: was planning on playing a Bushi Warlord (Path of War)

Sorry for the last minute submission, past few weeks have been pretty busy for me. Ended up tweaking my character's backstory from ex-street tough to ex-bandit but the core idea is still the same.
Name: Gharol Half-Tusk
Class: Warlord
Race: Half-Orc
Backstory: Not wishing to explain her son's greenish skin and tusks to her human husband, Gharol's human mother had her bastard tossed out onto the street with the day's garbage while she spun her spouse a tragic tale of a sickly baby born dead. Picked out of the garbage and taken care of by orphans, criminals and street kids, Gharol's first memories are of desperate survival in the back-alleys of the big city. Thievery, begging, fighting, running errands and delivering messages for criminal syndicates. Whatever it took to stay alive.
As Gharol grew up however, survival stopped being his only priority. He wanted more from life. Power. To be feared and respected. To not have to bow and grovel and obey any of his so-called betters. And that just wasn't going to happen in civilization. So Gharol gathered up weapons and the toughest toughs he could find before setting out into the wilderness. Bandits bowed to no one and that suited Gharol just fine.
The bandit life was good for a time but eventually Gharol and his gang bit off more than they could chew. It seemed easy enough, waylaying an old, lone traveller. He looked noble, or at least rich, so it was strange that he travelled without guards or an entourage but there was still just one of him, right?. Although old and past his prime, Barteo "the Bold" was still more than a match for any gang of bandits. He had fought countless men and monsters and was considered by many to be one of the finest swordsmen of his generation. Gharol's marauders knew they had made a mistake when they blinked and two of their number lay dead upon the forest floor.
Gharol rallied his routing gang and called upon everything he knew about fighting to stand against this veteran swordmaster. With equal parts desperation and natural talent, Gharol briefly held his own against Barteo, even leaving the old man with a small but visible scar on his cheek. Barteo, impressed by this common bandit's skill, instincts and tenacity, slaughtered the whole gang anyway. Save for Gharol. What a waste that would be.
Seeing the boy's potential, Barteo offered him a choice. Death or apprenticeship.
Gharol would accompany Barteo to his destination: a castle owned by an old noble friend of his. There, Barteo planned to spend his twilight years in peace, serving as the noble's captain of the guard and personal sword tutor to his children. With Barteo vouching for his good character, Gharol entered service as one of the soldiers under Barteo's command. By day, he was drilled and trained as a member the guard. By night, Barteo trained him personally in far more advanced fighting arts. But Barteo knew that there's only so much a student can learn from a single teacher. And he did still have that old coin sitting around somewhere...
Description: Gharol is arrogant, hot-headed and ambitious. He's always looking for chances to get ahead and prove his superiority over his peers and he makes no apologies for this. It's not enough for him to the best, everyone else has to know he's the best. His endless pride is simultaneously one of his biggest weaknesses and his greatest source of strength.
Wilful and headstrong, Gharol dislikes taking orders from anybody and has no qualms about speaking his mind, even in circumstances where he probably shouldn't. While these tendencies can get him into trouble, it does come hand-in-hand with honesty. You'll never have to guess what Gharol thinks about something because he'll just tell you, straight-up. Probably loudly.

Table 1: Atsuko, Dimitri, Zachariah (Discussion Page)
Table 2: Gharol, Carwyn, Lelache, Tanar (Discussion Page)
Two tables are feasible, plus there were interesting character interaction opportunities I didn't want to see disappear without the chance to see them explored.
