Dymitri’s mask protected him from the worst of the stench. Besides, as a doctor he’d smelled worse.

MAPS

A sound comes from the far end of the , like small bones rippling over stone, and flowing closer to the entryway. A flicker of bone can be seen in the firelight of the skeleton at the corner of the sarcophagus before it strikes out, attacking Dimtri. Along with the bite, a gout of nauseating fluid spews from the thing, coating his legs.

Relevant questions: what is it? Does it have blood? Special abilities? Resistances?

I'll take my actions afterward if I have any.

MAPS

Blood? No. Bones: Yes. It is a type of Construct.

Interesting. Arcana works for Constructs (I accidentally left off my bonus, that should have been a 23 total for the check), so my questions in order (I assume I bypassed the DC by at least 10, so 3 questions on top of the basic name and description): special abilities, resistances, and weaknesses.

Swift Action: Leaping Dragon

Leaping Dragon:

Discipline: Thrashing Dragon (Boost); Level: 1
Initiation Action: 1 swift action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: Instant
DESCRIPTION

As a dragon takes wing, his powerful legs thrust him skyward as his wings spread out to clutch the air. The disciple of the Thrashing Dragon uses this technique to suddenly launch himself into the air as if he were attempting flight. The initiator may make an Acrobatics check to jump as a swift action, and he gains a +10 competence bonus to his Acrobatics check and is treated as if he had a running start.

Dymitri auto-bot: Dymitri, barely able to see the bone creature beyond the flurry of activity that followed the sound of its arrival and attack, held back and watched for other threats. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Morcrug's vault over the creature to its other side is preceded by Atsuko's attack by but a moment, the blade connecting, but not doing as much damage as she might have liked, the bone creature having no flesh to cut away. Dimitri's skeleton moves forward to deliver an attack that scores minor damage despite its placement.

Like its namesake, the Skeleton lashes out with its fangs, striking at Atsuko and making contact, spraying a nauseating slurry of what may have been decomposed tissue and other rotting parts even as it connected its strike.

Knowledge(Arcana) 23:
The words of Master Perce come to your mind, as they had been in a mood at the time of instruction. A Scholar that traveled through and stayed a while, this particular lecture was on variant types of constructs and certain characteristics, accompanied by assistance from those with some skill in illusion to give images. "...any Constructor worth their craft would work in metals as supply allows." Impeccably groomed, even in the rougher conditions that was the Rampart's norm, their black pencil mustache and goatee was the second most notable thing about them. Half-Elven, their hair was a trimmed short enough to style easily, but long enough to indicate that they had moved beyond the work of laborers.

His manner was superior, lecturing downwards; but then again, to be able to boast not only knowledge of, but active instruction in the Rampart, they were not a simple Scholar."Take the Iron Cobra. A variant exists in several materials– do use a bunt weapon if you're to damage it effectively, however. A construct, expect the usual host of traits indicative of the type. A reservoir of some type is part of the construction, as a snake without venom is a weaker threat. Do not expect magic to damage it and others like it so easily, either. It is capable of finding someone within a limited range, so if one is after you, someone– or something— has sent it."

The remainder of the lecture covered a fair bit about constructs, tying methods and materials to inclinations and regions, school tendencies and the esteem of craft, regardless of use.

MAPS

Morcrug's axe falls, shattering the bone construct with the force of its impact, and destabilizing whatever matrix allowed it to be animated. Severed in three pieces, a small puddle of whatever comprises the source of that nauseating odor spreads under it. The decomposing liquid adhesive that covered a fair portion of Atsuko and Dimitri becomes fragile and brittle after a minute, allowing them to extract themselves and clean it off with little difficulty.

This room contains a row of four marble busts with a strong family resemblance. Each bust rests atop a narrow stone pillar. The bust farthest to the north—of a proud man with a wide mustache—wears an elegant wig of actual hair. An archway opens into another room to the north, while a set of stairs descends to the west.

First up the stairs, Atsuko is not sure what it is that gives it away, a stray sound, or brush of wind out of place, but this room is not empty.

Morcrug presses himself into the shadows of the stairs and the skeleton makes its way to the top, Atsuko makes out the forms of the creatures hiding behind the short pillars in the room. These squat humanoids seem to be nearly all head— an unfortunate circumstance, considering how ugly their puffy blue faces are.

(Atsuko-bot) "There! behind the pillars!" Several quick steps place Atsuko near the door of the room, her hand on the hilt of her sword, unable to strike through the short stone pillars, body low and ready for an opportunity to strike. The slow and steady exhale of her breath is threatening in the flickering light from the sKeleton.

The skeleton is the vanguard in this, striding between the pillars and felling one of the blue creatures in a single strike. Atsuko the next to follow, having glanced around the door to make sure that nothing was immediately nearby. There is the flash of the arc of her blade in the light of the skeleton, and an ugly blue head rolls.

The other creature, that had been hiding behind the pillar gives a high gurgle of surprise, turning to run from the unexpected onslaught, not noticing Morcrug at all.

MAPS

Morcrug(bot) was not expecting to see the creature come from the opposite side of the pillar they were at— after all, what creature would pin themselves between an opponent and a wall? So much so that the first strike missed, but the following attack was corrected for, splitting the tiny creature practically in lopsided two.

The only other curiosity was the bust with what looked to be a very well-preserved wig and mustache on it. A cursory search of the room turns up a double handful of coins stamped with an unfamiliar image from the creatures, and an odd set of thieves tools.
