How do Spheres of Power characters identify magic items?


It appears to be a ritual of the Divination Sphere.

Seems like it will be kind of hard if nobody can identify magic items without dropping Talents in the Divination sphere. Unless I'm misunderstanding something.


No, that's correct, but it isn't like there aren't items that can do that, or other people that are capable. You'll just have to hold off on identifying things, or use them as-is without knowing precisely what they do.

This does illustrate one of the differences I was curious about with the system switch when I pitched the idea in recruitment, though.

There's always the lantern that shows auras per detect magic. It's only like 2k gold.


Anywho, does anyone else have objections, other suggestions, etc.?

My general philosophy for dungeon crawls is "We're going everywhere eventually anyway" so I generally just roll a dX for however many doors there are and go off that in the absence of other info.

Hmm.. that is a good question... Can you sense blood?


I have no idea. There's nothing in the Blood sphere about senses.

Hm, so far, it looks like it's limited to the Divine sphere for certainty, though nothing says you can not attempt to establish a link with what you have. Either way costs a standard action. I'll have to investigate this more.

For Dymitri's essence is that something I have to spend an action to drink or that is automatically applied?


It’s unclear. It’s a consumable, so I’m guessing it takes an action.

Thanks for catching that, I was thinking drinking would be a move action. As for the lucerne, I would have a severely reduced chance to hit, even with the better damage type as I can only apply my dex to hit with the Butcher's Axe because I've designated it as my Killer's Impliment. (Stalker Art)

In this case I'll revise my post so that I take a 5ft step back and drink the Elixir.

Yes it's a little cheesy, but that's the point of Killer's Impliments, it allows you to use WF and DA on specific weapons that you designate.


I don't really consider it cheesy (I've always liked the Brutal Slayer as DSP's big middle finger to the "Dex to damage is OP" argument), just wasn't the first thing that popped in my head. =)
