Okay…gonna have to resolve that now, because it’s important.

Basic Reflex; mounted:
Citizen Glower; heroism: 1d20 + 16 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 16 - 2 + 1 = 26
Red: 1d20 + 17 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 17 - 2 = 17
Blue: 1d20 + 17 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 17 - 2 = 30 Success --> Crit Success (evasion)
Yellow: 1d20 + 17 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 17 - 2 = 23

But, more importantly…

Horses basic Reflex:
Red: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Blue: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Yellow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
White: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Shohreh flat-out kills half of the horses, causing their riders to start to get caught up in the horses’ forward momentum! Gonna make a ruling about this based on this set of rules.

DC 20 Reflex to avoid getting “bucked” off the dying horses:
Citizen Glower; heroism: 1d20 + 16 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 16 + 1 = 28
Blue: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34

Blue and Citizen Glower see the incoming magic and instinctively dismount immediately beforehand. Blue actually kicks his horse further forward to take the brunt of the attack! Blue took no damage because he has Evasion.

Glower basic Reflex; heroism: 1d20 + 16 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 16 + 1 = 35

Emilio sees Citizen Glower and immediately bolts back to the barn to hide in one of the haybales.

Red and Yellow spur their horses into action! ◆◆ Gallop; the horses Stride twice with a +10-foot circumstance bonus to their Speed (which comes out to 50 feet per Stride). Remember, the horse and its rider share an action pool

Red then charges forward and slices at Shohreh! Gang Up: the bounty hunters’ positioning doesn’t matter for flanking; as long as one of their allies is threatening the same creature as them, the bounty hunter is considered to be flanking that creature.

| Strange Aeons | Hell's Rebels | ◆◇↻

Kolgradd attacks Red first hit, second missed then Shoves. Okay…I’ll be honest. I don’t know what exactly it requires to unseat someone from their mount. My first instinct says that it would actually be a Trip instead of a Shove. I know it wasn’t your intention, but I’m going to resolve the Shove against the horse so it’s less of a headache for me to try to make a ruling.

Shohreh engulfs herself in fire before patching up her wounds.

Boodiddly talks quickly at the bounty hunters.

Citizen Glower squints and points her shortsword at Boodiddly. ”Aiding and abetting a traitor! That is sufficient enough a case! The senator is condemned to Madame Margaery! You do not get the pleasure!” ◆ Harsh Judgement. It’s basically a variant Hunt Prey. She gets a +2 to Seek and Demoralize Boodiddly, but a -1 to Seek and Demoralize anyone else.

The Gray Gardener then ◆◆ Casts a Spell.

GM Screen:

The senator continues hiding in the hay.

Shohreh Fort vs poison; inspire defense: 1d20 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 15 + 1 = 36 Shohreh’s no longer poisoned. Go figure.

Let’s resolve the easy one first: Blue, even though he can experience no powerful emotions, is still aware that his mission is to recover the senator. Blue enters the barn and searches for the senator. When he finds him, Blue tries to usher the senator to come with him, which the senator obviously resists.

Yellow urges his horse to Stride so he is now flanking Shohreh. He then says ”I’m gonna gut you like a fish!” ◆ Demoralize Shohreh.

Yellow Intimidation vs Shohreh Will DC w/inspire defense: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21

He then stabs the cleric!

Gonna resolve the damage from Invoke the Elements at the same time as Red, because both Yellow and Red will be ending their turns adjacent to Shohreh.

Red points his shortsword at Boodiddly and says ”We got a Gardener! That good enough for ya?!” ◆ retorting to remove the Bon Mot. Red then emphasizes his words by stabbing at Shohreh!

EXCUSE ME?!?!

Red laughs as he slices deep into Shohreh and knocks her to the ground. ”One’s down! Now get the rest!” ↻ Brutal Rally.

Basic Reflex vs Invoke the Elements:
Fire Damage: 1d12 ⇒ 6
Red; mounted: 1d20 + 17 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 17 - 2 = 21
Red Horse: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Yellow; mounted: 1d20 + 17 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 17 - 2 = 25
Yellow Horse: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

I’m bending the rules…a lot with this, but I’m going to put Shohreh right before the senator in initiative for my own convenience in the initiative block.

Also, reminder that Shohreh is concealed to anyone not adjacent to her; that includes her allies

The hitchhikers continue to hide behind the barn.

Yellow smirks at the terrified Boodiddly. ”This is the power of the Gardeners, little man!” ◆ retort to remove Bon Mot.

Yellow then directs his horse to Stride so that he’s flanking Boodiddly, then attacks the gnome!

Yellow also makes a ↻ Brutal Rally

Even with the Unexpected Shift that I forgot about, that’s still enough to drop Boodiddly. Side note, though, I double-checked the rules on Sustaining a Spell, and the calm emotions doesn’t end because Boodiddly’s initiative moved. Basically, as long as Boodiddly keeps Sustaining, then it’s still going. Also, because Boodiddly’s initiative moved, the dazzled from Unexpected Shift becomes irrelevant, so I’m just going to not include it in the initiative card.

The hitchhikers continue hiding behind the barn.

I feel a bit guilty about leaving Boodiddly and Shohreh with Glower, but she's free to ignore Kolgradd anyway and it seems most prudent to try to reduce the number of enemies. If she executes Boodiddly on her turn then I made a huge mistake :)

One can always hope for a natural 1 on the saving throw...

◆ Sustain spell: flaming sphere
Fire damage, glower: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2) = 5

The invisible wizard then manifests dark tendrils that reach out toward glower.

◆◆ Cast (somatic, verbal) grim tendrils, line through glower
Negative damage, Glower: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5
1 persistent bleed damage to Glower

DC28 Fortitude Save, Glower:
Critical Success The creature is unaffected.

Boodiddly trusts that Shohreh will be able to tend to her own wounds as he looks out at the fallen senator. With a flourish of arpeggiated chords, he once again pushes soothing feelings into the air.

Casting inspire defense [A] and lvl 5 calm emotions affecting Blue (Will DC 28) [AA].

| Strange Aeons | Hell's Rebels | ◆◇↻

Jevar sends the sphere at Glower, then sends tendrils of negative energy at her.

Glower “basic” Reflex; heroism: 1d20 + 16 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 16 + 1 = 30

Glower Fort; heroism, drained 1: 1d20 + 19 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 19 + 1 - 1 = 34

Botting Shohreh: Shohreh Strides away from Glower then Sustains spiritual weapon.

Shohreh vs Glower; inspire courage: 1d20 + 18 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 18 + 1 = 38
Force Damage; inspire courage: 2d8 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (7, 7) + 5 + 1 = 20

Boodiddly sings and casts another calm emotions.

Blue Will: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

Okay, I’m just gonna start botting people because this combat is obviously in its tail end.

Kolgradd: Sudden Charge at Glower.

Kolgradd vs Glower: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (19) + 21 = 40
Damage (doubled from crit): 2d12 + 8 ⇒ (12, 11) + 8 = 31

Knocks out Glower. And at that point, I’m going to call it and handwave the rest of this combat.

Loot:
On Citizen Glower’s person is the following: a +1 resilient breastplat, a +2 striking shortsword, and a lesser sturdy shield.

Once Senator Daldamane is brought back to consciousness, he says ”Thank you…let’s get out of here before they come to.”

Normally, I would resolve the downtime days before moving on to the next thing, but this next event is more narrative, so I’ll resolve it first then resolve the downtime.

Moonday 12 Kuthona, 4716 (Day 62, Mile 810)

*

Having traveled a decent ways through the Verduran Forest, the Sellen Starling finally crosses the border into Taldor. On the evening of the 62nd day since the ship left Thrushmoor, those on the ship spot several globes of light shining high in the forest.

Senator Daldamane grows particularly excited. ”This is a sign! The Stardust Augurs said that that is a signal that they are nearby! Captain! Please bring us ashore!”

Skywin complies, and Daldamane and his companions all disembark here, with the former-amnesiacs following close behind. Once the group gets into the forest proper, they are met by seven humans, some of whom are sustaining a casting of dancing lights (the globes of light). The humans bear obvious regalia marking them as faithful of Desna.

One of the humans—a Taldan woman with smooth features and short dark hair—steps forward. ”Emilio Daldamane. We have been expecting you. We are the Stardust Augurs.”

Daldamane smiles and turns back to the former-amnesiacs. ”This is where we must part ways, unfortunately. Thank you so much for the help that you have provided me!”

The Taldan woman looks at the former-amnesiacs. ”Travelers of the Dreamlands, we know of you. The Song of the Spheres has graced us with dreams of your journeys.”

“Well, not just that…” One of the other six interrupts and steps forward. It is at this point that the former-amnesiacs get a good look at this particular person and realize that they recognize him: this is Nestor Bindlay. ”I also told them about you four saving my life from those fey in the Enchanted Wood. I truly cannot express my gratitude.”

Nestor approaches Boodiddly and places a disk-shaped stone in his hand and says ”You are never lost following butterflies, my friends.” Nestor has given you a dreamstone Inventory Updated

The Taldan woman turns back to Daldamane. ”Emilio, we must be going.”

The senator nods. He and his entourage follow the Stardust Augurs as they make their way deeper into the forest. Daldamane shouts back to the former-amnesiacs with one final set of words ”I will repay your kindness! I promise!”

With that, the former-amnesiacs make their way back to the Sellen Starling. The final stretch of their journey is largely uneventful—only the occasional fey or pirate that the former-amnesiacs dispatch with ease.

And with that, y’all level up to level 10! Please post in Discussion regarding what you receive at level 10.

Additionally, y’all need to resolve the remaining downtime for the river journey. Meaning, y’all have 29 days of downtime to resolve. These last 29 days are resolved after y’all already hit level 10.

The dreamstone seems cool, especially if anyone has a dream spell they can cast for free

I'm interested in the +2 potency rune! I'd suggest having Jevar transfer it to Kolgradd's maul, but I'm hoping to get a Long Hammer in Cassomir so it might make sense to wait until then

That's worth spending downtime days on. I'd gladly get him that potency rune. Jevar could certainly make good use of the dreamstone too, but I'd also certainly share it with our other casters. But yes, Jevar continues to explore the theme with his latest Lore skill.

Boodiddly has no sleep spells, so he's fine to let someone else use the dreamstone.

Boodiddly changes things up and practices his jaw harp, trying to evoke that same feeling of joy and hopefulness he now remembers from the first time he picked up the instrument.

Moonday 9 Abadius, 4717

*

A city towers at the edges of Blackwood Swamp. A mouth of rickety buildings grins like rotten teeth around a calm harbor crammed with vessels. A great castle overlooks this bay, proudly flying the flag of Taldor. Yet just beyond the dike that surrounds the city, the swampland gropes outward, hungrily drawing buildings into its belly. This is Cassomir.

The Sellen Starling arrives in Cassomir’s shipyards, the boat docking alongside dozens of partially built ships, their curved beams resembling skeletal behemoths sunning themselves on the banks. The city spreads out around this center of industry, and Cassomir’s citizens swarm about on their daily tasks, filling the air with laughter and shouts amid the workyards’ din.

Skywin and her crew begin the procedure of being processed by the harbormaster—inventory of cargo, paperwork, running a tally of tariffs, etc. However, about half an hour into this process, it is interrupted.

”Hail! I must speak to Captain Skywin Freeling and Harbormaster Farrowoak on behalf of the Temple of Abadar!”

Skywin and the harbormaster are more than a little confused, but know better than to turn away an Abadaran sounding this urgent. The gentleman of the cloth comes aboard and hands the harbormaster and captain several pieces of parchment. ”The Temple of Abadar has received a missive with a sum of money from a gentleman named Emilio Daldamane. This trust fund is to be used under specific circumstances, and one such circumstance is to pay for Captain Freeling’s docking fees here in the city of Cassomir.”

Skywin’s jaw drops so far it looks ready to detach from her body. ”T-this much?! This could cover the next five years, give or take!”

“Indeed. Harbormaster Farrowoak, please finish your necessary inspection and send the receipt to the temple. And please keep these among your records for future reference. I do not wish to keep you from your duties, but I do have one last order of business. Captain Freeling, I am to understand that you have four particular passengers aboard, yes? Mr. Daldamane’s sum to the temple specified these four specifically. Let’s see…” The priest pulls out another piece of paper. ”Jevar Shadowmantle, Shohreh Kassar, Kolgradd Thunderiron, and Boodiddly no-last-name-given.”

“Oh yeah. They’re over there.” Skywin points to the former-amnesiacs.

The Abadaran bows. ”Much obliged, Captain Freeling. As you were.” The Abadaran quickly approaches the former-amnesiacs and hands each of them a single sheet of parchment. ”Mr. Daldamane specified that a portion of his trust fund was to be given to each of you. He has allocated 500 gold pieces for each of you four, and specified that you four should be allowed to use the temple’s vault for any transactions you need while in Cassomir. Please, come to the Temple of Abadar at your leisure to collect your sum.”

*

When y’all arrive in the temple, the party is awarded 2,000 gp (500 per PC). Inventory Updated Thanks to Daldamane’s good word, y’all can buy and sell items up to level 12. Everyone please go through the inventory sheet and mark off items you want to keep, then post in Discussion once you’ve gone through the inventory sheet.

How many days would Jevar drop off his earn income to get that +2 rune moved for Kolgradd?

So... Jevar muses wryly. It could be any Boodiddly in the world who'd set foot on this ship! You can never be sure...

However, like the good captain, he is unable to hide his own surprise at the amount granted.
