The hotel's going to be NUTS for the next two weeks, specifically the WEEKENDS TO REMEMBER!!!
It's a retreat set up by a bunch of churches across the country to send couples for a weekend of marriage-counseling and stuff at our hotel. Apparently they liked us so much LAST year that this year they're doing it TWICE!

GM Coyote |

Hey folks, bit of a life situation update. I’ve been travelling in Europe for the past few months, and though I’m scheduled to go home to the States at the end of March, the new travel ban has thrown a wrench into some plans and made things complicated. I likely won’t be able to get a post up for a day or two, but I’ll keep you all posted.

Sprig Snaggletooth |

Be safe, Coyote!
Sprig's on the spot plan is pretty simple, he's trying to get them away from the bandit camp, even if that includes him getting hurt (hopefully not dying). Once they're out of earshot, we jump them. Five on two sounds like a winnable fight.
Even if they beat up and search Sprig, Ralrae's the one with the disk.

GM Coyote |

Update on the travel situation which is looking much better than it did this morning; I (barely) managed to find a flight home for the day after tomorrow. I’ll have basically two days of solid travel, after which I should be able to get back into things.

GM Coyote |

Alright, I'm currently at Heathrow waiting for my flight. In roughly 12 hours I'll be back in the States!

Sprig Snaggletooth |

Yeah, I'm sorry. I don't want to hog the scene to myself. Hopefully we'll either lure some suckers out and get them, or be allowed to sneak off.
Actually, You have high perception! Take a look around, try and get an idea how many bandits there are, what they're armed with, ect. We're casing the joint before our raid ;)

Brindle Ghostfur |

Ok, this might be a bit long, but it is something I have been thinking about.
And to be clear: I am absolutely ok with Sprig doing whatever Sprig thinks is a a helluva good idea.
PbP necessarily removes some of the surrounding layers of our game - the usual discussions of FTF play are curtailed or absent due to the ease with which they can’t happen.
Here for example, I have no idea exactly how many bandits we can see, how they are arrayed around the Iron Tree or how homogenous they look.
Is Sprig talking to the leader of a bunch of bandits standing near us, or a loose confederation of crews?
Are we actually surrounded by looming scarfaced bandits at the moment?
Should Sprig’s player be telling us what Sprig is thinking, or is that metagsming or is it only metagaming if our characters act on that information?
When the half-orc threatened Sprig, and the Gnoll said something to Brindle, I was 50/50 going to have Brindle jump the gnoll/or half-orc to allay their own possible surprise attack. Also because Brindle is Brindle, and uncoached beforehand by Sprig has little idea or assurance that anything that is currently happening is “part” of any “plan”. As a player, I decided to keep the “social” encounter social.
I’m actually happier without metagame discussions, though my interpretation of such is pretty harsh and deep, but I’m absolutely fine with and capable of not acting on them.
Here, it is entirely Sprig’s “fault” for winging it without telling his pardners. I’m not sure I’d have it any other way, but his pardners might!

Sprig Snaggletooth |

I'll admit, we decided to disguise ourselves and then it seemed to fall to me to do the talking, Sprig is just flying by the seat of his pants.
From what I understand, we're in a side camp with just these two. There's more of them nearby, but not directly in front of us.
Being rather cowardly, Sprig is almost always going to try talk. But as a player, I'm perfectly happy to jump into combat. If Brindle wants to step in to help Sprig, that's fine by me, same goes for everyone.
I have been feeling a little uncomfortable with the amount "Screentime" Sprig has had compared to everyone else. I want to make sure everyone has their time in the spotlight.

Brindle Ghostfur |

Spotlight be damned! You’re the star Sprig! I can’t speak for the others, and having made a “primitive” with few social connections I’m a special case (though maybe Bas is similar) I imagine if anyone had a problem they’d pipe up.
It also comes down to how prolific a poster you are. Some people don’t have as much time to oost and social encounters tend to require more attention/time.
Keep wheelin’, wheedlin’ and dealin’!

Bas Reigger |

I have some charectors that are complete social butterfies, hell personally im usually that center of attention guy at a party... Bas. . . Not so much. AS we get in that might change some but for now sprig talk it up Bas wont mind :)

Ralrae Arkmir |

Rarlrae has no problem letting someone else do the talking, especially when that someone is keeping the attention and focus on them! No worries there. Perception is a good idea though.

Ralrae Arkmir |

I keep forgetting muskets are x4... Every other character I have currently playing, and just about every one I've ever made, ends up with an x2 weapon with higher threat range. This is different kind of campaign for me. :P

GM Coyote |

Howdy folks, I'll be on a short road trip for a few days starting Thursday. I'll do my best to keep up with posting, but reception in the desert is unpredictable at best. I'll be spending my first night camping in a ghost town however, and I'm certain it'll give me some inspiration for the game.

Sprig Snaggletooth |

Hey everyone! I know things are strange in these times. How're y'all doing?
I'm doing ok, but man, the days are starting to blur together. It's getting harder to stay organized without a schedule.

Saraon Duskdragon |

My schedule's actually stayed the same. I'm considered an "essential infrastructure service worker." By answering the phone. At a luxury hotel. That's almost completely empty. Attached to the Mall of America. Which is closed.

Ralrae Arkmir |

Like Saraon, I'm considered an essential worker. My days a bit more active though... We support the laundry/healthcare industries and have been running business as usual, maybe even a bit more than before. We have made adjustments though... there's basically a short medical exam to get into the building with one of our employees who is also an EMT.

GM Coyote |

Meant to include it with the loot, but y'all are now level 4!

Brindle Ghostfur |

Whats the leveling rules? :)
Yes, have forgotten. Also, I’m only level 3 now... ;)

GM Coyote |

Not sure what you mean by that. Level up normally? There’s auto bonus progression so there’s that.
Brindle, I was doing a bit of looking at gnoll stuff and realized they’re also a PC race, and not a tremendously strong one at that. Did you use the monster stats or the racial stats when you built Brindle? If it was the racial stats, then I see no reason not to bump you to level 4 with the rest of the party.

Brindle Ghostfur |

Racial stats. Yep, I had the same issue with a drider in another PbP here that had no SR and no class at level 1. I still feel like I’m pretty underpowered - beyond having an awesome Climb skill I’m a level lower than my other party members. Will go to level 4....
So I get a feat for level 3, a stat bump for level 4.
Do we do half+1 hp per hit dice?
And ABP equipment as level 4? ABP always confuses me - does my weapon have an enhancement bonus or just a +1 to hit? That’s what happened in another PbP...

GM Coyote |

Weapon is treated as being +1 in every respect. HP is indeed half+1.

Posting this to all games I am in and directed to the GMs:
I want to thank you for all of your diligence, dedication and most of all, passion for running this game for us. It takes a lot of effort to make the game and an inordinate amount of work to keep it going - to engage us, keep us corraled, on point, focused, dont forget you’re here on the map’d, that’s ok thanks for letting me know’d and all around inspired and fulfilled.
You are a true devotee, unpaid unless it be in shared enjoyment, unsung unless we speak up and undeterred unless I ask to play a half-froghemoth dhampir-scion mechagolem suit commander gestalted with a dire sorcerard. Thank you, thank you and thank you again. And no, it wasn’t me who sent you that weird PM. It was that other guy. Gal. Thing.
Anyway, thanks. Keep ‘em coming.

Ralrae Arkmir |

Side note here from me - my wife and I are trying to put an offer on a house. Read 3 hours of purchasing contract last night. I might be a bit slow responding over the next week if everything goes as hoped.

Brindle Ghostfur |

Seems I’m about in the loop as a player as Brindle is as a character.
Who is Gruog? And who are they to us?
Why is Sprig telling us to prepare for fire, as a particular element?

Sprig Snaggletooth |

Gruog is a big mutant guy the half-orc (Rendulvar) told us was at a bunker north of Iron Tree. He's the main guard for whatever mastermind is causing trouble in the area. We don't know who his master is, but we do know that Gruog's the biggest baddie in the bunker.
We're going to Kildain to get some kind of sphere (I think) for the lady with the metal arm. Apparently some pyromaniacs called the Daughters of Xokar have it. She said she'd give us co-ordinates to a cache of energy weapons if we retrieved them.
