The phrasing it uses is "against the triggering damage," which to me says the attack that provoked the reaction and nothing else. I'd have to go check again but I think it's also how Bulmahn has run it in Oblivion Oath. Man, champions get really cool abilities.

Experience 890/1000 | Level 2 | #097: In Hell's Bright Shadow | Part 2: Rebuilding the Ravens | Day 4 (Sunday, 6 Rova 4715)

My reading is Hemdar takes 1 damage after a reread. Lemme know if Bulmahn does it different so I can blow up his twitter feed. :p

Male Elf Wizard 2 | HP: 18/18 | AC: 17 | F: +4, R: +7, W: +8 | Perc: +6 | Speed 30ft | Hero Points: 1/1 | 2/4 1st lv. spells | 0/1 focus point | Spell DC: 18| Conditions: None

As it triggers on damage, and it's phrased resistance against triggering damage, it would make sense it gets reduced by 3, but he doesn't get Dr for next round. Just for that specific attack. I mean I'm not the GM or being affected right now, but that's my two cents

Either way works, so I'm good with it.

Alright, sounds good to me.

(Emarel is a better MtG judge than me, I trust him on these matters)

Experience 890/1000 | Level 2 | #097: In Hell's Bright Shadow | Part 2: Rebuilding the Ravens | Day 4 (Sunday, 6 Rova 4715)

While we are in exploration mode actions that can be completed in a normal round of combat (casting a spell, using a focus power, etc.) are negligible time-wise. There are many actions that specifically take 10 minutes, such as first aid, searching, and refocusing that are the relevant task to the "turns" taken here.

Alright, thanks for the heads up! Should I start botting Enara with the next round of combat? Also have fun!

Alright, so I've been trying to take a better note of people's reactions to keep things on track. So, whenever either of you see this:

@Lucius: Is there an order that your reactions would go in? Would Lucius just use whichever applies first, or are you generally only wanting to use reactions for your retributive strike?

@Enara: Would you just want me to consider the first attack each round against you as the attack triggering your nimble dodge? I used it this round because I figured that made the most sense.

Yes, especially since that reaction is the only thing standing between me and being critted by a damn giant rat. lol

Generally his reaction will be used for Retributive Strike, but if you're comfortable apply damage reduction retroactively, you can just leave those rolls to me. In some instances, I'll have to choose a target depending on what is going on around him.

Hey. I have surgery in the morning. Pretty minor, but it IS surgery. Outpatient, with a normal "don't work" period of 2 days, and a "no exertion" period of like 6 weeks.

I should be giving all my games another pass this evening, but I make no promises for the next day or two.

What is it? An umbilical hernia repair. Surgeon says I have multiple hernias right there together. All I know for sure is the general practitioner who referred em to the surgeon had it right when he said it looks like I'm going to give birth to a Titleist.

Good luck! Hernias are no fun.

Best of luck and I hope you have a swift recovery!

Sorry for falling behind yesterday from me. It's a birthday tradition of mine to go to bed super early because I never sleep well.

Didn't even miss an action form me that round! Never needed it. COOL.

Was at the hospital from about 0730 till about 1615. Home. reasonably awake, and medicated. The entire area over the hernia and belly button is under s bandage I'm not supposed to touch until Saturday, so all I know is I have some ugly looking injuries from where the laparoscopic entry points were on my left side. Not as limited in my movements this morning as I thought I would be, which is good. Abdominal muscles are a little tight, though. Don't think I can blame them. I figured they would be a LOT more mad than they seem to be.

Glad to hear things went well! Gotta get them battle scars.

Experience 890/1000 | Level 2 | #097: In Hell's Bright Shadow | Part 2: Rebuilding the Ravens | Day 4 (Sunday, 6 Rova 4715)

Because a fair amount of new content has come out recently, I figure I should throw some updates on things that would be appropriate for our pre-PF2 game on character options!

Archetypes:
-All multiclass
-Bellflower Tiller
-Hellknight*
-Hellknight Armiger*
-Hellknight Signifier*
(*Order of the Torrent only. If anyone expresses interest I will homebrew some order stuff)

Feats:
-All common ancestry, class, general and skill feats
-If uncommon or rare, please express interest to me and we'll see about working in access

You may also want to steer clear of some spoilers from the new Lost Omens books, though I think everyone has a general idea of how this campaign is intended to end regarding the status of Kintargo.

Is there any chance to take the Order of the Godclaw? That is what was written into Lucius' background story.

Experience 890/1000 | Level 2 | #097: In Hell's Bright Shadow | Part 2: Rebuilding the Ravens | Day 4 (Sunday, 6 Rova 4715)

I would be alright with the Order of the Godclaw, yeah. I'll go ahead and waive the "member of a Hellknight order" requirement (y'all are a little busy for that right now) on the Armiger dedication for now since Lucius at least knows the idealogy, though when you're ready to take the plunge into the larger Hellknight dedication you'll definitely have to kill a devil mano-a-mano.

As an additional note, I will be making updates like this whenever new content comes out in a 2e.aonprd.com update. There will be large swaths of time that you guys can retrain during the campaign. If something new comes out that is very fitting for your character but is at an earlier level, I will let you retrain for no gp cost into that feature the next time you have downtime.

I want everyone to get to flesh out their characters as much as possible in this new system, and thus far this has been an absolute delight. :)

Cool, sounds good. How do archetypes work in 2e anyway?

They are basically alternate class feats you can take, so you can pick and choose the bits you like.

Experience 890/1000 | Level 2 | #097: In Hell's Bright Shadow | Part 2: Rebuilding the Ravens | Day 4 (Sunday, 6 Rova 4715)

Here is the page with all the rules text, but in a quick format you just take archetype feats with your class feats. You always have to start an archetype with its relevant "dedication", and the Hellknight stuff starts with the Hellknight Armiger dedication.

Male Human Paladin 2 | HP: 32/32 | AC: 20 | F: +8, R: +7, W: +7 | Perc: +5 | Speed 20ft | Hero Points: 2/2 | Focus Pool: 1/1 | Reactions: Shield Block, Retributive Strike, Divine Grace | Conditions: None

Ah, so the Armiger feats won't kick in until we hit level 2 then, am I correct?

Yessir! You'd take the dedication from this page at any level 2 or higher with a class feat and then since you're melee focused you could take the dedication here at 6 or later.

You guys will be hitting level 2 very soon (I keep the exp in my status bar very up to date), and I guess this is as good a time as any for me to mention that I am adapting this campaign to go from 1-20 instead of 1-17 since all PF2E APs will be doing so.

@Tilorean - Hope some rest has got you recovering well from the operation!

Also just wanted to remind you that you're free to take and use that wand of mage armor, considering you're more in melee than I am.

Hey all, I think I'm going to put us on a 24-hour timer for combat posts on weekdays. If its been 24 hours since a round started I'll just bot whoever has yet to go in an effort to keep things moving at a decent pace during combat.

If anyone has any objections to that please feel free to voice them, as obviously I know everyone would rather have personal control over their actions. I just know that games on the forums have a bad habit of falling apart and being stuck in small combats for extended periods of time is a surefire way for things to get stale.

I don't have any problem with that. I shall give you botting instructions, if it's ever needed.

Also, I forgot that Tilorean had inspire courage up, so the electric arc damage should be 6 instead of 5.

Good idea. Nothing slows PbP down more than grinding combat.

Fine with me. Apologies for my lack of post yesterday, my computer seems to have something wrong with its battery and now it can't charge. I should otherwise be able to get a post off every day, and combats can really slow forum games down, so I think that's a good measure to take.
Plus I'm definitely not going to argue with getting a crit while botted. :)

Hey Jilvi, Sanctuary is two actions so I think you were one over on that turn. I figured you'd rather cast that than shield, so that's what I ran with.

Edit: Glad you did the rolling though this time, a natural 20!

Will definitely second Enara's recommendation on that. If anyone has any level up questions please let me know! It will be a second before we do any more combat so take your time. If there are any aspects of your character that you want to change now that you've played feel free but please let me know via PM. I'll go ahead and get the plot moving along in the morning ~

It has been brought to my attention that the rules on magical items are not 100% clear on the requirements needed to transfer runes and whether or not you need Magical Crafting to do so. I will be taking the more favorable reading until errata'd otherwise: as a 1 day downtime activity you may transfer a rune as long as you are a high enough level and make a crafting check of appropriate DC to the items level.

So, in the case of the two runestones the party now has, it would be a 1 day activity with a DC 16 Craft check to transfer them to a weapon. Transfer from a runestone is free.

I'm going to take Sorcerer Dedication with Draconic bloodline, giving Jilvi some Arcane spells. She's going to focus on spells that enchant enemies or buff allies.

Decided to just go straight Paladin for level 2. Went with Fiendsbane oath and picked up the skill feat Group Coercion, which will be a nice little debuff (especially at level 3 when he gets expert intimidation, allowing up to four targets)

Figured Fiendsbane would be useful in this campaign.

Cool. Like I said, I went for Expert in Stealth, so that's a +10. Any time I'm using Avoid Notice, folks can use Follow the Expert, which lets them add their level+2 as their proficiency bonus for stealth, even if you're untrained.

For my skill feat I went with Experienced Smuggler, which means I always roll at least a 10 against passive perception to hide stuff. Class feat I went with Quick Draw, so expect me to start throwing daggers a lot.
