LOL - nice! And ditto on the thanks for taking over on this one, GM TOZ.

@Yuri - yes on the spells. Kasimir lives to serve, because disobeying orders is very bad for him.

@Omrax - you should play with us. Given that THIS group is behind time-wise, it makes it very simple for you, because let’s face it, a melee paladin doesn’t require a ton of complicated decision-making. We already know that you’ll adhere to your Code of Conduct, and we also all know that your best move is to close to melee and smash evildoers.

I don’t see a lot TO metagame.

Liberty's Edge

Medium Male CG Dwarf Barbarian (chained) 12/Fighter 1 | HP 142/142 (raging 194/194) | AC 27 (29) T 15 (13) FF 24 (26) | CMB +19 (22), CMD 32 (33) +3 vs Sunder, +4 vs Bull Rush & Trip| F +20 (24), R +12, W +9 (12) | Init +6 | Perc +16 (+2 stonework) & darkvision SM +0 | Speed 30' | Active Conditions: | Constant: Combat Reflexes, DR 2/-, Imp. Yes, to echo Kasimir's point, I can see how metagaming becomes more of an issue for, say, a prepared spell caster. But the truth is that melee types like Omrax or Yuri are probably not going to play very differently even if you do know what's coming.

Is there a way to change factions without spending a ton of prestige?
I can see this character being more aligned with the Concordance or the Exchange. He is my -1 so his faction was picked at the suggestion of others (so many CG-CN people who play Pathfinders) who thought Liberty's Edge was the best faction.

Edit - I agree to that as well. Paladin types generally do not have a lot of narrative power.

Edit 2 - @Kasimir - Is your character any good with that mace that you never use?

Thanks Kasimir.

I agree, Omrax doesn't do much differently going into a combat. If there are smite-able things like undead - he will smite. He doesn't have enough prepared spells to make a difference in that regard.

Omrax is a bit lower tier than the rest of you, so he will continue to provide a moral compass rather than a plot compass :)

You can try. It is a hard road to hoe with this party. ;)

Do spells reset?

We are still in 1. We get a full break in between. So I assume we can even go retraining or implanting Ioun Stones etc.

@Grandmaster TOZ - Can I assume that my Mite is able to clean up the blood magically? I do not want the party to be dripping into part 2.

@Grandmaster TOZ - Would the spell (Heal) in my Spellstaff carry over?
Generally spell storing items are allowed to carry over but I am not sure about this one as it is created by a spell in the first place and not a magical item.

@Kasimir - Please keep prepping Shield of Faith. I have pearls of power (1st level) so it will be a free cast for you. If you can spare a Magical Vestment (3rd level slot) that would be great. I spend most of my time in humanoid elemental form so I will be picking up some Parade Armor,MW. I could even prepare a Resist Energy, Communal for the party to swap off for the Magical Vestment.

It looks like Spellstaff does not fall under the list of spells allowed to persist through scenario end, so that magic will fade. Still an acceptable trade off for the reset of everything else.

To accommodate Yuri, part two will start Sunday night at the earliest, Monday at the latest.

@Mage - deal

I might also try to cram in a Thaumaturgic Circle. I’ll give the spell list some thought over the weekend; I have a better sense of what people can do now.

The Air Walk was great and really appreciated. Yuri has no way of flying besides potions of Fly and in the heat of battle he has to come out of rage to drink those or superstition kicks in.

currently on part II of EotT with another PC... 'tis slow going =)

My chronicle was put under Hamish's pdf. It is fine as the information is correct for me. However does everyone have a filled out and usable chronicle sheet?

This character did not play EOT. I have played it through however.

In terms of the knowledge boon on the sheet. Would my familiar be able to use it?

Shadow Lodge

Table Maps | Passing the Torch |

Must not have saved correctly, fixing it now.

The boon isn't explicit about who can use it. Most of them are written for singular characters, but you could argue that 'you' refers to the player rather than the character. Expect table variation.

Understood. What is your ruling?

Also in terms of the Frostbite spell. Can it trigger 1/round or does it trigger on any hit with all natural weapons? This is another one that I find has table variation.

Shadow Lodge

Table Maps | Passing the Torch |

Since Whisper is intelligent enough to understand the notes, either of you is fine. For the Frostbite spell, melee touch attacks are standard actions without some other ruling.

In terms of Frostbite if they were standard melee attacks it would not trigger?

Shadow Lodge

Table Maps | Passing the Torch |

It is the same reason ghosts and other incorporeal creatures don’t get iterative attacks on their touch attacks. A creature with Frostbite would not get it on claw attacks without some other ruling allowing it.

@TOZ - I won’t be able to play pt. 4 with Kasimir, but I do have a level 12 who is closing in on level 13.

@Mage - Kasimir isn’t much good with his mace, but he’s solid enough to take a hit or two. He’s most useful casting spells.

Shadow Lodge

Table Maps | Passing the Torch |

Yeah, I'm not sure that you'll be allowed to play part 4 with a new character that hasn't done the rest. Eyes is...difficult to schedule. You technically shouldn't have been allowed to play this or anything else with Kasimir until he finished the arc.

Since 1E content is no longer releasing, hopefully we can get some leniency.

Good luck getting any official feedback on 1E now. They are too focused on 2E. Sad really as I am sure there is a good residual market left over in 1E. There are many players that will not switch over for many reasons. I do not understand why they do not make the minimum effort to keep these players happy.

Shadow Lodge

Table Maps | Passing the Torch |

I meant from the VO corp, maybe as far as Tonya. She does answer some questions at least.

Honestly, this is the minimum effort in their eyes.

I guess we have to be happy that it is allowed on the site at all. It feels like 1E was hard dumped after Gen Con. I understand they want to promote their new products but people will continue to play (and buy stuff) from 1E if not discouraged. At least that is my take. You are closer to all this being a VC and all.

@TOZ - I got a pass from our VL after a schedule shift left pt. 4 possible for everyone but me (stupid work on Saturday ; ( ). I’m not in-between sections, I just flat-out missed the last part.

He did say he’ll let me know next time a table runs in our area...but I’m not holding my breath

@Kasimir - Perhaps you can pick it up here. It does seem to be run fairly often from what I can see. It is a real shame to miss out on the ending.

@Grandmaster TOZ - Is the identity of a follower only fluff? I mean you could get an Angel, Outsider etc. as the mechanical benefit is always the same and they do not interact in the game in any meaningful way outside of the listed benefit. Also in terms of a skill boosting follower could it apply to a familiar's skill check?

Shadow Lodge

Table Maps | Passing the Torch |

I don't care enough to say no.

As far as I know the only way to trigger Frostbite multiple times in a single round is using the Magus' spellstrike. And I believe that use is not contested (may even be addressed in an FAQ somewhere, though I'd have to double check).

Having just run it today, I do hope you get a chance to play it at some point. Even if you play it with a different PC, as a player you'll still get a chance to complete a great story. It was pretty epic today - took about 10 hours - I'm a slow GM and it was a party of 7 - and I had them pretty worried multiple times. The life oracle took something like 600 points of damage. But in the end they were victorious - sigh - damn pathfinders! I would have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for those meddling kids!

EotT was definitely good the first time around (despite the fact we had a party of 4 and lost one in book 3. So we were botting him the most of book 4.) Spending the replay was worth it and much better experience across the board. Definitely in my top three all-time (going back to Living Greyhawk finale and Red Hand of Doom as the other two).

EOT spoiler:
It was fun. My Bard had no clue what was up in the very first combat so he went invisible with Vanish before the archers arrived. Good thing too for him but bad news for the rest of the party. Fun times when the fighter had to cut his way through a door with 1 hit point to avoid the archers' next volley and certain death.

I've done my purchasing and am ready to go. GM, do you want my list of purchases for noting on the next chronicle sheet? I usually write them myself on the chronicle sheet of the just-concluded adventure, but I know some PbP GMs prefer to note them on the upcoming chronicle.

I used 2 prestige for a scroll of stone shapes, and 20,000 to upgrade my headband of wisdom. Keeping the rest as coins.

I’m ready to roll.

@Omrax - What LG region were you in? The Verbobonc finale was amazing.

I generally record all my purchases on the Inventory sheet. I really do not understand the need to record them twice but I am happy to list them if you want. My starting gold will be 7.5 gp and 26 PP.

I am ready to roll.

Not worried about regular gear purchases, just condition removal like negative levels and raise deads.

We will continue using these threads rather than starting new ones, opening post tonight after I get back from our local store.

@Kasimir - I was in Dyvers, but played in some of the Vebobonc as well. Sadly could not attend that finale. I heard it was top notch as well by many who attended.

Omrax purchases complete. Mainly bought a winged helmet of the Valkyrie after selling a circlet of persuasion. Now he can fly more regularly and looks more like his image. :)

Nicely done. :)

Please make sure to update the party slide with your chronicle information changes.

First time I ever buffed my character before a mission brief. What is the Grand Lodge coming to. :)

People might want to update (or clear out) the Buff slide as well and double check the initiative and save slide in case there are any changes.
