The effects of BOF and Haste overlap but do not stack. That means that you can get the +30' movement and extra attack from Haste and then choose +2 attack,dodge AC and reflex saves from BOF. You cannot add together the additional attacks from both BOF and Haste or add the +2 to hit from BOF to the +1 from Haste. You must take the better of the two in all cases. I hope that this makes sense. :)

Assuming that the fight lasts long enough my minions are coming. :-)

Yep, no worries. It slipped by me the first time too. A wand or scroll could have allowed it, so that’s something to consider for part two.


He really needs to buy Boots of Speed instead. Every martial I have gets them ASAP. A free action haste that can be used as needed is too good to pass up.

I don’t think I have any characters with them. My life oracle loved feather step slippers before the errata, and my flame oracle enjoys the cleric’s feather fall with boots of the cat.


The paladin has mobility issues so the boots would work well for him. An extra attack at full bab on demand is really good for marital characters. For characters that are not going to be in melee regularly it is not worth the investment. I only have two characters (my melee bard and my zen archer/inquisitor) that have the boots but they do swear by them. The feet slot definitely has some good choices.

Edit - I am just trying out a Paladin/Bloodrager combination. It is really fun.

I’ve been meaning to check out a bloodrager, it’s just hard to NOT take Arcane bloodline.


I agree. I really like to buff my characters so getting all those free buffs every time I rage. Yes please. If I am able to play this character enough (big if considering the current state of 1st edition) I would like to take the Metamagic archetype for quickened spells at 5th level. Now that would be really nice. :)

I suspect I will get to play one in an AP. The question will be if going dragon disciple is suitable to the direction of the campaign.


I thought about going DD for my Melee Bard but I just like casting too much. I doubt I would even be able to do it as a Bloodrager. If you are planning on not investing in Charisma then you can go for it and just be a melee beast.

Definitely go for. Being a barbarian and being able to cast just seems too cool to pass up.

Z-axis calculations make those sorts of areas trickier than normal!

Though Rokgurn is outside, on the top of the ruins, likely she won't be able to get there... so at not quite everyone. =)

Not the biggest deal as my character has Pro. from Fire up and Improved Evasion but does she have line of effect to my square?

It is an area effect, which I don‘t believe requires it? Shapeable spells are tricky.


As it will not do damage to my character I do not need a concentration check to finish my spell. Do I?

That is correct. I believe you may be right about not being targetable, line of effect does not exclude shapeable areas from needing to be targetable with line of effect..

Firestorm?

She'd still have to actually see where she's placing the cubes, if she even knows where Rocky is.

Do we see where she cast it from? As it normally has to start adjacent to her location.


@Hamish - I think that you are confusing it with Fire Snake. Another very fun spell. Fire Storm has a fantastic range and Area of Effect.

The catching on fire part is really when the fun of the spell starts as if taking all that damage up front was not enough.

Sort of a Pyro here. It comes with the Druid territory. :-)

Ah, I'm so used to using it from the Flame Oracle revelation department... which does have it start at you, and expand outward.

Correct. Kasimir realizes that she has returned to invisibility, but was forced to cross the area of his purge. The transparent image on the right was the last point the party was able to see her.


I thought that there were no other entrances/exits. Is there an exit outside of the temple around where she just left?

I am just wondering how she targeted my character on the roof.

Mislead is a really evil spell when you have enough rounds of time stop.

Should have listed who HAD to make the save instead so I wouldn’t miss anyone. Updated.


Silly question but would the Sirocco outside potentially douse the flames of anyone caught on fire due to the high winds?

I wish this character had the Animate Objects spell. I would so like to use it on the statue of the mantis god to whack out this Cleric.

That would be highly appropriate. I’m not sure anyone will actually want to run outside the temple to blow out the flames, but it seems in keeping with our rulings so far.

Slipped my mind, I was just going down the list of buffs. It’s also hard to call identifying an illusion effect in place by sight.


I so should have prepared Source Severance instead of Anti-Life Shell. That would have ruined her day. The woes of being a prepared spell caster.

It just goes to show you how anti-fun this scenario would be on a replay.

Yuri and Omrax still have saves versus Fire Storm, then the party is up.


What is the reach of the Eidolon?

It seems that Hamish is >10 feet away so it is worth asking. It will likely make no difference in the outcomes due to dice rolls but we should at least try to get things right when we can.

Also do not add the Reflex bonuses for both Haste and Blessing of Fervor as they do not stack together. This is easy to forget and I have done it before myself.

Can someone please give me a brief summary of what (in-character) Yuri knows or has seen about what is going on, i.e. the current state of the board? I can't tell if she's invisible or what, which icon is her, etc....

GM: how high do the columns with the clawing mantis things go? Floor to ceiling? (The ceiling is like 60' there, or 80'?)


@Hamish - Fly out on your turn and I will put out the fire and heal your character. There is no way that you saved with a 24.

Hey, not that bad. If she had a bonus, some of you might have missed her sneaking behind the statue.

Yuri, the top transparent icon is the illusionary double she set up, and the right icon is the last place anyone saw her before she got out of Kasimir's invisibility purge. I suspect Kasimir will be fixing that problem shortly.

Edit: Pillars are floor to ceiling, which I am calling 20ft above the entrance balcony, meaning 60ft from the floor below.

Ok, thanks. Some questions before I take my turn, so I don't mess up again:

1) She's currently invisible but the icon behind the statue is where she was last seen? And casting Fire Storm on us didn't cause her to stop being invisible (i.e. greater invis or something similar)?

2) The three assassins and the northern Saviya have been identified as illusions and that's been communicated to us, so Yuri can basically just ignore them. Correct?

3) There are icons on the pillars with green writing on them. Are these creatures? Have we seen them do anything? Does Yuri have any in-character reason to avoid those pillars?

4) Are there any environmental or spell effects inside the temple currently (that we know of) besides Unhallow (and Invisibility Purge around Kasimir)?

5) Are there any party-side buffs up besides Inspire Courage and Blessing of Fervor (aside from the ones we did at the start like Life Bubble)?

Sorry if this is all redundant but I feel like I'm missing some details with all the quick posting.


@Yuri - It is not super relevant but I did put up Delay Poison, Communal and Hunter's Blessing up on the party as well. I think you resisted the Haste but you should check. The communal Fire Resistance that Kasimir put up has expired.

1) Yes, although it hasn't been identified she used Mislead to leave an illusion of herself behind and gain greater invisibility.

2) Correct, Rokgurn and Bombshell were able to suss that out with Will saves.

3) The pillars have mantis carvings that writhe and reach out towards the party. No one has apparently gotten close enough to find out how dangerous they are.

4) No other effects that the party is aware of, except the change to bleed damage. (I misread the hazard as stopping all healing while bleed was active, but it actually just prevents you from stopping the bleed damage. My bad!)

5) That's one for the party to answer. I have set up a buff and condition tracker on the last slide for fights going forward, you are welcome to add to it for this fight as well.

Haste was cast (by Hamish) but Yuri resisted (currently active on Hamish, the Gull, Rokgurn, and Omrax (the rest were out of range at the time))

Blessing of Fervor was cast by Omrax after all (totally missed that) ... not sure who he got in the area though (but since it was back up top there, likely the same group that Hamish got with the haste))

There was a Hide from Undead, from Kasimir before we came in... but I don't think that'll be relevant.

Then just the Air Walk, and the Delay Poison, and the Life Bubble

Sadly the soul eaters were evil outsiders, not undead. But a good precaution!


Actually Hunter's Blessing is still active but Hide From Undead is gone now as we have attacked someone in combat.

Edit - Hide from Undead is a good spell to have up. It could have saved our bacon against incorporeal undead or the like.
