This encounter would have been a definite tpk but for the wands of clw and magic missile :o

Two harpies as a tier 1-2 encounter - I really can't fathom how this scenario didn't get retired.

The fight can be worse too with the harpies actually getting to sing while you're not even at the top of the shrine meaning you have to climb it to get to them while they hit you with flyby attacks (feat) and some number of PCs are entranced and helpless.

If I do get enlarged, unless the battle has changed substantially by then, I intend to take a withdraw action to get into position where as many hobgobs as possible, as well as Gaspard, will have to provoke an AoO in order to close with us.

It may make sense for the rest of you to also withdraw behind Ikari's wall of whirling spear at that point.

Good point Kenta - GM, do the hobgoblins have noticeable missile weapons? (I'm guessing probably not because they closed to melee).

Hiiragi, completing your spell with two hobgoblins in your face might be tricky :o

Also, my schedule has recently gotten more demanding :( I've had to take a hard look at my gaming bandwidth and unfortunately will have to step out of this gaming group. I really enjoyed playing with y'all (despite Itami terrible attitude and cynicism) and hope to see y'all else where on the boards! :)

Phew! I was concerned reading the first part that we wouldn't get Itami's story. It has been fun playing Kenta vs. an experienced cynical grouchy human. :P

I speak for myself, but probably reflect what others feel in saying that I'm sure if your bandwidth clears up down the road you would be welcome back (assuming there wasn't a massive level difference).

Also, thanks again for the save during the Harpies. I'm pretty sure without your Magic Missiles whittling the enemies down, that would have been a TPK.

It is more for right now than long term. I think I will be able to expand my games again, but right now my coaching schedule just changed and I've got an extra day and an extra hour per day of coaching. With the other stuff I have to do, I just have to cut back a tad, you know?

I'm glad you enjoyed playing with Kenta's antithesis ;) I had a lot of fun with it too, but I enjoy that back and forth quite a bit and I know it isn't for everyone. Magic Missile might have been the MVP for that fight, but it took a lot of y'alls HP to give Itami the chance to do it! Teamwork makes the dream work!

I'll shoot someone a message once things settle down some and try to get back in on this foxy action!

Hiiragi grappling six friends at a time might not be allowed by RAW, but hopefully the GM lets it slide. ;)

Actually, whether or not that is legal is pretty variable. There isn't an actual limit on the number of creatures someone can grapple because it doesn't actually have written that it takes a limb to do so, only that you take a penalty for not having both hands free.

A creature with grab, combat reflexes, and the ability to make AoOs while grappled, like my tetori, could grapple up to their dexterity modifier plus one creatures with AoO grabs. The tough part is maintaining the grapple as the most you could maintain against is 4 with grabbing style/master.
