Runt hits but with her partially hidden by the wall (+2 cover) the beast tears into Zandril. One claw slashes the swashbuckler nastily.

Lavanor Garavon |
"That will delay it regenerating but you need to burn it to finish it off," Lavanor reminds Isabella as he moves over to the other staircase to try to help with the other creature.
Not sure I can attack it from my position but just in case ...

Runt makes a jagged cut across the monster's thigh. Lavanor runs around and swings up at the beast but is unable to get a good shot at it. Then Camil puts an arrow in the things neck but astonishingly it keeps its feet. Trunt follows just behind Camil and puts a bolt through the things head. It drops and falls down the steps its unhealthy looking flesh beginning to shudder.

Round 4
Runt
Lavanor 21/24
Trunt
Isabella
Camil
Zandril 18/22
Camil D'este |
Camil will rush to the closer of the downed creatures (by Isabella?) and light a torch to burn the creature and end its unnatural healing. Lavanor, Zandril, do you two need a torch over there?
Assuming the creature combusts when a torch is lit to it, Camil nods to Isabella, Good work keeping this thing down. I cannot believe it just heals like that, I wonder if these things age?
Isabella Monstrance |
"Not sure I want to do the experimenting to find out," replies Isabella, keeping her heavy sword ready. "Do the work!"
Zandril Siska |
Zandril hollers back at Camil, "Yeah, if you can get some fire over here, that would be great.
Zandril moves down the stairs and hops over the creature on the ground and sticks it with his sword again for good measure.
Damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 3) + 3 = 10
Camil D'este |
Camil hurries to not drop the torch over to where Zandril, Lavanor, and Trunt are, setting the sinspawn afire. It is relatively unnerving to watch these things heal like that. I cannot get over it yet, but I will.
Looking to the two more martially inclined members of the group, Does one of you want to carry this torch, I don't really need it, but if we have more of these things it may be useful to have? Camil proffers the torch to the warriors, or barring that, anyone in the party who doesn't have a light. Runt, do you want to carry it?
Lavanor Garavon |
"Well done everyone," Lavanor says as the creatures are burned. At Camil's question, he holds up his elven curved blade. "This requires both hands so I can't hold a torch and use my weapon effectively. Let's see what else we can find down here," he says before searching the remainder of the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Runt PbP |
"Um, sure. Why not. Though if a fight starts I will probably set it down and grab my weapon."
Camil D'este |
Camil bows to Runt and hands her the torch, heading back to the platform to illuminate more of the area and keep watch with his bow and arrows. Wow, I'm going to run out of arrows today. I haven't shot a bow since I was a child, and here I am shooting arrows into near-mythical monsters which regenerate...
I'll go back up top to watch out and see what else lies in this prison. Don't worry, I'll scream really loudly should anything come through that door up top. Camil pulls another arrow from his diminishing quiver and nervously heads back up the ramp.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Runt PbP |
Runt explores the cells along the perimeter of the room.
Ironperenti |
The groups scans the cells. They find the skeletons of 21 people in the numerous cells. Some are chained to the walls, others are curled up in a ball in one corner or another, and one forms an odd pile in the middle of the room below an iron grate. They find nothing of value here.
Runt PbP |
"Weeeellll, if they are skeletons, thaw would suggest a pretty long time. Can someone shoot it just to make sure there isn't something hiding in there?"
Is there a bow or crossbow that Runt can find and use around here?
Runt PbP |
Runt picks grabs a sin eater and shoves it into the room with the pile of bones in the middle, then steps back and watches.
Runt PbP |
"I guess I'm just being paranoid. Thought for a second there that there would be some ooze or something under those bones that would eat anything that cam near."
Feeling more confident now, Runt goes in and pokes around the bones with her spear, glancing upwards just in case a threat comes from the ominous grate.
Camil D'este |
Bemusedly watching Runt poke and prod at the remains near the grate, Camil asks, Are we done here and can continue with this exploration? I've got an itch for a card game, and this smelly dungeon isn't all that fun. Although it is fascinating how we're barely below town and this ancient temple is right here.
Camil will move over to the doorway to the next chamber and see what he can from the room.
Isabella Monstrance |
"I guess the town was built over the ruins," suggests Isabella. "Not uncommon. But it rather makes my skin crawl that these chambers have lain dormant down here for so long, and now someone's putting them to ill use again."
Runt PbP |
Runt shrugs, half glad and half disappointed that nothing manifested.
"I wonder where we are under the town."
...
Always eager to satisfy her once latent and now fully emerged aggression against goblins, she answers Lavanor hopefully "Sure, I'm ready. Let's move on."
Ironperenti |
The group heads up the stairs and out across the catwalk to enter yet another stone corridor. It is short, about 30 feet, before it opens into an ominous room. Inside there are several ancient relics of what appear to be torture implements, although their function and style seem strange and archaic. In one corner sits a spherical cage with spikes protruding inward from its iron bars. In another stands what appears to be a star-shaped wooden frame, its surface studded with hooks. And in the center of the room is a long table covered with leather straps and a number of cranks that seem designed to rotate and swivel. All the items appear to be rusted or dry rotted. There is a door on the far side of the room as well as another to the south.
Camil D'este |
Regarding the implements in the room with disgust, Camil pauses, A Torture chamber too? Who were these people who built this place? I'll take a look at the south door first, lets make sure it is safe.
Camil crosses to the south door, and begins to examine it, starting at the floor level, paying careful attention to the locking mechanism, and the door jams on either side of the door.

+1 for trapfinding included above
Lavanor Garavon |
Lavanor shakes his head at Camil's question. "And how long ago?" he adds. "I'm more concerned that parts of it are currently being used though," he says while Camil checks the door before opening it.
Ironperenti |
The door appears safe and unlocked. Opening the door they find a small room, perhaps a den or tiny library. The crumbling remnants of several chairs and a long table clutter the floor of this room. To the south stand three stone doors, each bearing a strange symbol that resembles a seven-pointed star.
Runt PbP |
knowledge religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12, +5 if monster lore kicks in.
Rut peruses the room, looking for religious paraphernalia. The idea that Lamashtu is involved is troubling to her. The last thing she wants is to go back to being a flunky in a temple of mad people.
Ironperenti |
Runt does not recognize the symbols.
Isabella Monstrance |
"Isn't the seven pointed star the Sihedron star, usually associated with the Runelords?" muses Isabella as she keeps out a watchful eye while the more perceptive members of the team search the room.
Camil D'este |
Camil scans the chambers looking for any useful clues, Isabella, I think you are right; that fits what we've seen thus far
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Straightening up from a chair Camil holds up a scroll.
I don't know what most of this writing is, but this looks complete and important! Isabella, can you make heads or tails out of this scroll?
Camil will cross the room, and hand the scroll over to Isabella.
Lavanor Garavon |
Lavanor enters the room to help search but to also guard against anything coming out of the doors. "Well done, Camil. It looks like this stuff has been here quite some time," he says as he waits to see if anyone can tell what the scroll is.
Isabella Monstrance |
"What's this then?" says Isabella with a furrowed brow as Camil brings her the scroll.
Does it appear to be magical writing or mundane?
Runt PbP |
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Runt finishes her search without luck (or skill apparently) and when Camil shows off his discovery she comes trundling over curiously, glad that someone found something interesting because she was getting bored by the search.
"Hmmm. It may be complete but it looks like gibberish to me." she declares with disappointment.
Camil D'este |
Shaking his head in the negative, No I don't, sorry. Maybe it will have to wait until we go back above to figure out what the heck it is.
Walking over to the three door, Camil asks aloud, So which of these three should we try first? I'm for the one on the right, do others have a preference?
Camil veers over to the righthand door with the mysterious symbol upon it.
Lavanor Garavon |
Lavanor shrugs his shoulders in response to Camil's question. "I don't think it matters much. I'm guessing we'll end up opening all of them. Just make sure to check for traps first," he says preparing to defend or attack any creature behind the door.
Ironperenti |
Camil finds no traps and takes time to pick each lock. Eventually you open all three. Each appears to be a small cell. Within each is a single skeleton of a badly deformed humanoid; one has three arms, another has an enormous misshapen skull, and the third has a ribcage that goes all the way down to its pelvis—a pelvis with stunted legbones strewn below its strangely flat girth. A dark spot on the wall of the cell with the three arms and the fact that it has a fractured skull would suggest it had taken its own life.
