Runt heads on over and peeks into the cracks and looks for things that look wrong.

It's pitch black on the other side and Trunt makes a check of the door and declares it safe. Runt thinks she hears some raspy breathing but she cannot tell where it is coming from. Isabella looks (darkvision) but she cannot make out much more. The limited view of the keyhole allows her to see that the door opens on a wooden floor.

"Nope. No traps. But I think I hear something in there. Who wants to go first?"
Body language seems to suggest that Runt is not volunteering.

I can go first if Lavenor doesn't want to, but with the Dex Damage my AC dropped a hair and I'm down to one panache point (unless I get one back for tackling a flying quasit by jumping off a balcony and pinning it underwater?).

Trunt opens the door allowing Lavanor to step through. He steps in on what appears to be a rickety wood platform but feels much more solid than it appears. The light from Camil's ioun torch follows him in and reveals a raised walkway moving off to the north and turning east toward the east side of the room. Two sets of stairs on either side of the platform lead down into what must have been a prison. At this distance the whole lower area is covered in shadow but Lavanor can make out the doors of several cells along the north wall.

Runt is stretching and bending to try to see what they have run into next, but she is unable to pierce the forest of legs and see squat.

Isabella comes in in the middle, her keen aasimar eyes able to see into the darkness. She remains quiet (as much as she can) while holding her falchion at the ready.

Despite his low-light vision, Lavanor strains to see anything in the room. "Anyone see anything? I wonder how many people in town know this is down here? " he asks the others quietly.
I'll wait for Trunt and Camil to roll before committing to anything.

Lavanor hesitates. "If this is a prison, there could be traps to keep people from escaping. Trunt, do you mind coming up here and having a look?" he says, stepping to the side.
Trunt's Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 nice, 6 rolls and none of us could get above a 10. Where's my eyeroll emoji?
When Trunt also says he sees nothing, Lavanor carefully moves forward on the platform.

Hopefully I have not confused the situation. You can see the prison. The cell doors create enough shadow behind them that you cannot see into them from where you are. The platform you stepped out on is 20' above the floor. There are steps leading down to the prison proper or you can follow a catwalk out across the middle of the floor that leads to an exit on the eastern wall that is again 20' above the floor of the prison. Although the wood looked rickety, it feels solid beneath your feet.

So the choices are, basically, cross or descend, or something creative.
I suggest we descend. We may find an ally and some information by freeing a prisoner or two.

Seeing everyone heading for the stairs, Camil volunteers to stay on top of the platforms. I'll stay up here with the light and my bow, that way I can help more. Saying that Camil steps out onto the platform extending into the room.

Lavanor starts down the steps and hears the raspy breathing coming from under the stairs just in time (full CMD, no AOO). Gaunt clawed hands reach through the slats of the stairs to grab his ankles but he manages to hop over them and land at the bottom of the steps.(sin spawn token has a shield icon representing his cover from being under the stairs)

Runt does not have a good view of thearea, but she knows by the noise that something is going on down there, so she does what she does best - basically let others do the fighting for her. But with style!
Channeling her connection with the downtrodden and misshapen of the world she draws a little essence and sends it Lavenor's way in the form of Inquisitor's Direction.

Camil spins looking to fire on the assailant under the stairs, seeing the new threat instead he quickly looses an arrow at it. luckily, the arrow seems to fly true despite the haste in his shot.

The one sin spawn tries to sneak up the stairs but is spotted. (his double move has him at the head of the stairs). The other comes out from under the stairs and attacks Lavanor. Its clawed hand draws blood. Then Camil's warning is shouted out and he plunks the sneaking spawn with his bow.

Moving to aid Lavanor, Isabella brings up her heavy chopping blade and cut down at a slight angle, letting the weight of the weapon do the work and swinging with the power in her hips and shoulders. Even though it's not made of any special metal for fighting against such beasts, her sword gashes through the creature in a spatter of viscera, leaving entrails flopping about and a spray of noisome juices that splash over her tabard.

Seeing the sinspawn's death cover the cleric in noxious fluid, Camil wrinkles his nose, That's unpleasant, but great work! Let's see what this prison holds for us.
Cautiously he advances, shortbow half drawn, expecting more of the unpleasant creatures to appear as if by magic. Stopping suddenly, he exclaims, I forgot, do we not have to burn them or something like that? I'll keep my eyes out if someone back there can help with that.
Eyes scanning the room for more threats, he muses to himself, Sure, be a hero, its more than just playing cards... Well, smellier, more dangerous, and full of the unexplained. At least with a card game you know what you are getting in to at the start.
