Faerieth |

Taking the time to switch out her staff to a new, more balanced one found among the equipment in the cave, and buckling a silver bladed scimitar to her belt, Faerieth prepares for the descent.
"Nice trick!" she says as Antoni ensures his companion's safety on his person. Taking her time to carefully climb down the ladder, she casts a light spell on the tip of her staff, holding it aloft as the group prepares to resume exploring the trog caverns.

Moragul Bearskin |

The trogs prove to have more of value than Moragul expects. Probably stole it all. It will keep them going a little longer, at any rate. He follows into the great pit, curious what lies below.
Per for the Central Chamber: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Onward.

Darry Swiftfoot |

"Very nice trick..."
He muttered darkly setting Sebastion to guard the top of the hole. There was no way they were getting him down there.
"Counting on you boy.... keep our egress clear.."
He began ordering Sebastion to guard the top for them. as they made their way down.

Moragul Bearskin |

Moragul has 18 str. I'm sure he can handle the lil snickerdoodle.

Faerieth |

Casting a light spell on the top of her staff, Faerieth is the first to climb down.
I'd say Fae, Yaron, Antoni, Darry, then Moragul after he lowers down Sebastian.

Moragul Bearskin |

Sounds good!

DM-Camris |

As you lower out of the shaft, 20 feet above the floor, you see a larger chamber than you saw from above.
The vaulted cavern seems more finished than the upper chambers.
Walls of smooth masonry stones intersect a mirrorlike marble floor.
A statue of a twisting, insectile form stands in the center of the large chamber, as if a beetle-like god were flowing like water.
Reliefs along alcoves to the eat and west depict rough-hewn reptilian forms gathered around a step pyramid.
Rough purple gems have been wedged into the reliefs, forming starburst patterns.
The southern part of the chamber still lies in darkness.

Yaron Oravar |

Yaron casts light on a stone and tosses it forward, into the darkness.

Antoni D'Asterii |

Ziggurats and reptile men, this is incredibly ancient down here. Those gems could be used to purchase a lot of supplies for our people, if we can ever find a merchant. And what's with the statue of the beetle god?!? Antoni asks as he carefully continues downward.

Moragul Bearskin |

Moragul kneels near the statue, looking for signs of life. "I don't know much about troglodytes but I assume the higher ranking ones will be deeper within the earth. Expect trouble."
Survival (Footprints): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Yaron Oravar |

Yaron nods, "Makes sense, I suppose. Was rather hoping our large friend from earlier was the worst of them."

Antoni D'Asterii |

Ach, undead? I'm not very good against undead... Easy Caleb, you stay with me. Antoni says, pulling out one of the new wands and sending a dart of magical force into the skeleton.
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Faerieth |

Faerieth casts a spell, sending a thrum of power through her staff as she steps forward, bringing more light forward.
Cast Shillelagh

Moragul Bearskin |

"Some kind of... blob." Moragul says, unimpressed. He drops his spear since the blob clearly isn't a troglodyte, draws his greataxe, and swings it through the gelatinous body of the thing with great strength.
I was gonna move away and cast Stone Call to slow it down, but I don't wanna abandon Faerieth. Free Action to Drop spear, Swift Action to use Animal Focus (Bull), Move Action to Draw greataxe, Standard Action to Attack.
Greataxe (Power Attack): 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 - 1 = 14
S Damage: 1d12 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Yaron Oravar |

Yaron says, "Anyone know the best way to kill an invisible jelly-coated skeleton?" as he raises his bow to take a shot anyway.
+1 Longbow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Moragul Bearskin |

"Is the lore of monsters not your purview, bard?"

Yaron Oravar |

Knowl (Dung): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Yaron shakes his head, "I'm sure I've picked up a little by accident, but I did my best to focus on the stories that weren't nightmares... and the bow."

Darry Swiftfoot |

Ancient halfling proverb ...done eat the moving jello."
He keep Sebastion on a short leash and eh tossed a dagger at teh monster.

Faerieth casts a spell, sending a thrum of power through her staff as she steps forward, bringing more light forward. Cast Shillelagh
Antoni's magic missile disappeared with a flash a couple feet away from the skeleton. The waves rippling through the almost invisible flesh due to the impact revealed the presence of an Gelatinous Cube!
"Some kind of... blob." Moragul says, unimpressed. He drops his spear since the blob clearly isn't a troglodyte, draws his greataxe, and swings it through the gelatinous body of the thing with great strength. A great gout of gelatinous spatter jetted out, and it sagged a little. A hiss of acid sizzled along the edge of the axe and an acrid smell drifted from it.
Yaron says, "Anyone know the best way to kill an invisible jelly-coated skeleton?" as he raises his bow to take a shot anyway. The arrow shot into the body of the cube, slowed and hung up in the middle of it, not appearing to have done much damage.
Darry keeps Sebastion on a short leash and tossed a dagger at the monster.
The dagger hit the cube and also sank into the body, not seeming to do much damage.
Faerieth ref save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Moragul ref save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
The huge gelatinous cube slid inexorably forward, engulfing Faerieth and bouncing Moragul aside and threatening the rest of the team beyond.
Faerieth takes 1d6 ⇒ 5 acid damage, gains the pinned condition, are in danger of suffocating, and are trapped within its body until they are no longer pinned. She must make a DC20 fort save or be paralyzed 3d6 rounds.

Faerieth |

As the barely visible mass ruses forward, engulfing her, Faerieth can barely hear herself scream as she is suddenly without air, the creature's acidic touch burning for a moment, before fading to numbness and with it, an utter inability to move.
Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Paralyzed for: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1) = 13 rounds

Antoni D'Asterii |

Seeing Faerieth get absorbed by the creature, Antoni backs up a step, continuing to point the wand at the shimmering, acidic mass, and fires again. What do we do? We've got to save her!
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Moragul Bearskin |

Moragul slices into the cube again, with no idea if he's actually effecting it.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 - 1 = 23
S Damage: 1d12 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Yaron Oravar |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Yaron begins to recite another set of limericks to aid his companions, We have to get her out of there before she's a skeleton like the other..., and having no idea if it's helping, fires his bow again.
+1 Longbow: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 = 28 Oh sure, waste that on the thing immune to crits..
Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 + 1 = 9

Moragul Bearskin |

Can't you take an AoO against a jelly boy when it tries to eat you instead of trying to avoid it? I'll do that if I can If it tries to eat Moragul again. It can't have that much health left.
AoO: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 7 - 1 = 15
1d12 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Darry Swiftfoot |

This may hurt
Faerieth! no!
He stabbed at the thing with his lance now keeping his distance from it in case Faerieth started to look worse insdie it.
lance melee: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Round 2 completed______________
As the barely visible mass rushes forward, engulfing her, she is suddenly without air, the creature's acidic touch burning, before fading to numbness and an inability to move. Paralyzed for 13 rounds.
Antoni backs up a step, continuing to point the wand at the shimmering, acidic mass, and fires again. The magic dart struck it, creating a little shockwave, but nothing else.
Moragul slices into the cube again, letting out a great gout of the gelatinous insides. It wobbles a bit, visibly shrinking a foot or two, but it continues to slide forward.
Yaron begins to recite another set of limericks to aid his companions, We have to get her out of there before she's a skeleton like the other..., and having no idea if it's helping, fires his bow again.
The arrow pierced the creature, but hung up inside it, doing little damage.
As Moragul stood in front of the gelatinous monster, preparing to let it engulf him to do some great damage, Darry rode forward and plunged his lance deep inside the cube.
And that did it. The cube burst like a water balloon, flooding the chamber ankle deep in numbing acid, before it slowly drained out through hundreds of small fissures in the walls and floor.
Faerieth is left lying prone on the floor, still breathing, but unable to move.

DM-Camris |

The remnants of the cube still holds your weapons, except for the arrows, which had the wooden shafts dissolved.
The undigested remains from a Lastwall crusader lay fallen by Farieth.
*A masterwork longsword
*A gold holy symbol of Iomaedae worth about 100crowns.
*A breastplate emblazoned with a bronze angel.
*Two potions (Bulls Strength).

Yaron Oravar |

Yaron ruhses to the druid, making sure she's alive and pulling any ooze out of her mouth and nose to ensure she can breathe. Concerned, he asks, "Anyone know if she's going to be all right?" He lets out a grim chuckle, "Normally, I'd be asking Faerith that, but she can't answer."

Antoni D'Asterii |

I've got a wand which can heal her? Should we use it, I'm not the best with it, but if someone can cast curing spells, it should be easy! he holds up a wand of cure light wounds to whomever to cast on her.
1/50 charges
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Yaron Oravar |

Yaron says, "I can make the wand work."

Moragul Bearskin |

As far as gelatinous cube encounters go, that was pretty tame.Heal Skill(?): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Moragul doesn't know anything about (hopefully) temporary paralysis. He props the elf up in a sitting position against the cave wall. "Well, I don't see how it could have damaged your nervous system. Probably just temporary." There are various fish and frogs that can temporarily paralyze attackers. Since she's still breathing, it doesn't seem to be an emergency.
While waiting for Faerieth to come round, Moragul inspects one of the hidden doors.
Moved Moragul to the western door.
Moragul also has a partially charged Wand of CLW. We good on healin' for a while =)

DM-Camris |

It takes a full minute and a half before tingling feeling comes back into Farieth's limbs, the numbness leaves and she is able to recover mobility again.
Anyone going to take any of the stuff that was in the Cube?

Faerieth |

As the feeling and mobility returns to her body, Faerieth begins to cough, her body desperately working to clear the acidic goo from her throat. "Ugh...that was...horrible. Thank you." she says gratefully to her companions as she slowly stands up.

Antoni D'Asterii |

Antoni, now that the situation seems resolved, gathers up the things formerly encased in the ooze, as the throbbing in his scar subsides finally. Huh, that's not expected. Any of this stuff immediately useful? Or should we just make a pile and come back for it? I'm sure Moragul could use these elixirs, Darry too? he asks, indicating the Bull's Strength vials.

Moragul Bearskin |

"I hear... maybe machines, through this door. Is everyone ready to proceed?" He glances at Faerieth.
Moragul can get half bull's strength with the animal Animal Focus. Probably better to give em to Faerieth if she's gonna mix it up in melee with shillelagh.

Faerieth |

"Yes, I'm good to go on." Faerieth says, brushing the worst of the clear slime off of herself in mild disgust, and taking her staff in hand.

Moragul Bearskin |

Moragul opens the hidden door, if he can.
