I'm good to go. However, and I would have remembered to mention this earlier if I handed landed in the hospital twice, I will be at GenCon from 8/1-8/5 (unless I end up back a third time...)

I think a Monday start works best!

No questions here!

What are the stats for a ketchup bottle? That sounds tempting...

It is a light improvised weapon with the fragile quality, and -5 penalty to CMD vs. swallow whole.

For those who don't know the meme: There are t-shirts that say, "Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup."

We'll restart on Monday.

Sorry, no post until tomorrow. Taking a personal day from life.

Haha nice meta joke there Thalasou :)

GM, when you say the hallway is empty, are there no doors or anything either? The way you've situated the map, I'm assuming we opened the "wrong" door, but I figured I'd ask before just meta-knowledging to that conclusion. Also, thank you for the light reminder, I had forgotten it was dark in here!

I will be in Paris in the next 3 or so hours until Sunday! I should be able to post without issue, but if we do progress to another room, please assume Tiber will take point like he has said (and since he doesn't need a separate weapon out, he can be his own door opener!).

Sovereign Court

The hallway you're currently in is a dead-end. It could be a large walk-in closet, except that there's no shelves or anything like that. The other hallway has a door, that is partially visible after my mangling of the map.

And if you get a chance in Paris, I recommend Les Invalides. It's smaller and more manageable than the other museums, and it's a museum of military history--so much cooler IMO.

Oh, RIP. After the bit about MS paint being a butt, I thought there might be something here. Welp, that's okay! Ayalina's already the resident derp. :) Onwaaaards!

Sovereign Court

Fair warning: as in combat, I will advance every day even without (all) PC posts.

Sovereign Court

Sorry about the missed posts. I should be back to my normal routines by tomorrow.

Do I seem like the type of GM who would challenge his players to their utmost?

Sovereign Court

So when I said that life should be back to normal today, life apparently took offense at my presumptuousness. Completely separately from what derailed me earlier in the week, last night there was another catastrophe with my girlfriend.

I think all of you except Ayalina know about the first catastrophe, which led to an 8 month sabbatical from Pathfinder. Well, last night I found out that my girlfriend has not been (completely) following the plan that we put together for her, probably to the expense of ~$10,000 in the past 16 months.

Thankfully, she has been following that plan somewhat, which has kept her from incurring any new debts--which makes this problem less stressful for me and easier to handle. Secondly, I am taking much better care of my own health now, and therefore able to handle more. Thirdly, this game is my only Pathfinder obligation.

Hopefully, that will be enough to keep me from taking another extended absence. But I can't make any promises, and my consistency may very likely suffer.

CG Male Human Oracle 1 | Speed 25 ft | AC 16 | HP 18/18 | F +5, Ref +4, Will +5 | Per +5 | Focus 1/2 | Hero 0/3 | Spells 1: 1/2 | Conditions: minor curse (trickster)

I'm sorry about that, Granta. My sympathies.

Oh my goodness. I'm really sorry about that, GM. I'm glad to hear you're paying better attention to your health, though! Do things at a pace that works best for you. :)

Hang in there GM, please put the needs of you and your family above gaming (not that I don't appreciate your commitment to balance)! Like Ayalina, I'm ok with a slow down if that makes it more conducive to your continued participation.

EDIT: Lady Delena, viper scouting will definitely be useful in the future, but I agree with your assessment on doors/corridors. Tiber has RP reasons right now too, but I'll save those for gameplay!

Sovereign Court

A reminder: if you don't explicitly say what you are doing, you're stuck with my guess. So far, nobody is really doing that with their Perception checks. As a rule of thumb, assume that searching an empty 10' x 10' section of floor takes a move action. Adding more space, walls or objects increases the time.

Sorry, I meant I was searching the bookcases first. I'll try to improve. Do you want another set of rolls?

Sovereign Court

Lady Delena wrote:

One roll is generally fine for larger searches. I will just adjust or mention the time required if necessary.

Sovereign Court

@Thalasou: A general search will either take a lot of time or penalties, so being specific is usually to your advantage. This time in particular, I assume you meant to target the southern stack of boxes. Those can't be searched until they are organized.

Sovereign Court

1 person marked this as a favorite.

@Tiber: That is more specific than necessary. One roll is usually good. Technically, I believe each 10' x 10' square is a separate roll, but I don't think any of us want to deal with that hassle.

The important part is that I know clearly what is being searched, and a lot of that is driven by in game time constraints. In your post, I would have done it like this:

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 hall and door

And that right there is a prime example of why the GM shouldn't roll player dice!

My pleasure. Though watch your back for a knife when Ayalina realizes that her initiative is the first thing rolled during combats.

Next update will probably be Monday. Renee and I have five social events between tonight and Sunday, and have to prepare something to bring for three of them. I'd ask you to shoot me now, except that I'll get to play boardgames at three of those parties.

Enjoy GM! Sounds hectic put a lot of fun!

Ayalina, I think what you mean to say is that you are deeply invested in keeping our reflexes sharp!

Sovereign Court

What is your watch schedule, and will it be your default for the future?

Will the person on watch sit in the room where everyone sleeps or patrol all four rooms?

Female NG Human Bard 2 | HP: 15/15 | AC: 16 (12 Tch, 14 Fl) | CMB: +1, CMD: 13 | F: +0, R: +4, W: +3 | Init: +1 | Perc: +4, SM: +5 | Speed 30ft | Bardic Performance: 8/11 | Spells: 1st 4/4 | Active conditions: None.

A watch altogether in the one room, but with a patrol as you're passing it on to the next person? That way two people will be awake at the same time to guarantee party safety but we get the best of both worlds?

NG Male Human (Taldan) Oracle 7 | Speed 20 ft. | AC 17, T 13, FF 14 | hp 65/65 | Fort +7, Ref +7, Will +7 | Init +3 | Percep +6 | CMD 18 | Spells per day used: lvl1 0/7 lvl2 0/7 lvl3 0/5 Channels per day used: 0/6 | Conditions: none

Good idea Ayalina. I'll just throw out a watch proposal:

Pavo
Thalasou
Ayalina
Delena
Tiber

Does that work for everyone? Does everyone have a chance to get enough rest to prepare?

Female NG Human Bard 2 | HP: 15/15 | AC: 16 (12 Tch, 14 Fl) | CMB: +1, CMD: 13 | F: +0, R: +4, W: +3 | Init: +1 | Perc: +4, SM: +5 | Speed 30ft | Bardic Performance: 8/11 | Spells: 1st 4/4 | Active conditions: None.

I think Ayalina already called dibs on the last watch in character, but aside from that, it's fine by me. :)

Feel free to move it around. I was just putting out an almost random order. So this?

Pavo
Thalasou
Delena
Tiber
Ayalina

Looks good to me! Tiber will remain in the room (aside from Ayalina's idea of doing a lap when we change shifts, which is great btw).

Seems fine.

I won't do anything on the watch if that clearly hurts perception.

Tiber is going to have some problems when he tries to change the lighting. Would people rather sort the puzzle in character or just fast forward and find out how the lights actually work?

Fast forward, that’s one of my least favorite puzzles.

That position is fine for Pavo for future watches, too.

I accept doing it fast-forward. In character, I would do it by putting one person or snake on every switch, and then quickly iterate through all the states, one person shouting instructions and others switching.

NG Male Human (Taldan) Oracle 7 | Speed 20 ft. | AC 17, T 13, FF 14 | hp 65/65 | Fort +7, Ref +7, Will +7 | Init +3 | Percep +6 | CMD 18 | Spells per day used: lvl1 0/7 lvl2 0/7 lvl3 0/5 Channels per day used: 0/6 | Conditions: none

Fast-forward is fine with me too.

Sovereign Court

Default Watch Order Pavo, Thalasou, Delena, Tiber, and Ayalina. Two hour shifts, taking 10 hours total.

If that works for everyone, I'll just automatically use it in the future.

Map has been updated with room labels and light switch functions.
