All for Immortality, HARDCORE MODE! (Inactive)

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 12–15.

Every year, one of Thuvia’s five city-states receives a mere six vials of the famous sun orchid elixir—a potent and extravagantly expensive tonic able to reverse the effects of aging. After both of his last two shipments disappeared without a trace, the ruler of Pashow has retained the services of the Pathfinder Society to ensure that this year the elixir arrives unharmed and restores prosperity to his realm. However, what begins as an unusual security assignment quickly spirals into a revelatory unveiling of Pashow’s treacherous underbelly.

Hello Everyone, My name is GMStarson. To celebrate PBP being included in the RSP program, as well as finishing my own run under an amazing GM, I'm opening call for a run for the infamous "All for Immortality" series! But, I don't have a rep for being a killer GM for nothing, we'll be playing this in hardcore mode, and I won't be taking it easy on you! Don't bring any character you aren't willing to lose or that you don't have the prestige to bring back if they are killed horribly!

Normally, I take first come first serve, but considering the deadliness, and length, of this series, I'm going to do something a little different. First, we need to fill roles if you want to hope to survive. Second, I want you to introduce your character, in character, to get a feel for your roleplay. So, Introduce your character and have them explain why they should go on this super special mission for the decemvirate.

Roles at Minimum that need to be filled are as follows:

-Healer (Or strong healing capabilities)
-Tank (Someone who can take a hit/protect the crew)
-DPS (Someone who dishes out damage, and a lot of it. Doesn't matter how you do it, ya just need to do it)
-Skill monkey (Someone who can handle traps, skill checks, ect.)

Your character probably, and should, cover multiple roles, but I wanna make sure all 4 corners are covered or I'm going to feel bad when you all die horribly. :) Posting expectations will be the standard 1 per day and 1 per weekend, and I'll try and meet your guys speed if you go faster.

So, Victim Roll Call! Who's willing to take the challenge?!

Liberty's Edge

Ok, I'm really not primarily any of those 4 roles. However, I can do a decent job on any of them with summoned creatures. I'm a celestial bloodline sorcerer with Summon Monster III and VI and the Augment Summoning feat. We have used summoned creatures to just set off traps. A few of the celestials can do a fair amount of healing though nothing spectacular. And of course a flood of several somethings appropriate can do a lot of damage or take a lot of damage.
Oddly enough, most scenarios though I have spent a pretty fair amount of my spells on buffs and utility instead of summons. Definitely not a 1 trick pony.
Flame Strike, Spiked Pit, and Dismissal for offense.
Communal Protection from Energy, Magic Circle Against Evil, and Haste for buffs.
Remove Curse, Teleport, Dispel Magic, and Make Whole for utility.
He is even a decent diplomat if the other side speaks common.
He has been very successful and useful. Though I can't really call him properly a super optimized caster. He is my -1 and I probably would have done some things differently if I had known better.

Before you stands a good looking half-elf male. He bows in a most respectful manner, though he obviously has confidence in himself. I am Lavode de'Morcaine. I have answered your missive in person as requested. Theft of the Sun Orchid Elixir is obviously a serious crime. Someone is tyrannically subverting the will of the gods. I would be privileged to stop this monster. Permanently. Let us begin immediately.

Grand Lodge

Throwing my lvl 13 wizard into the frey! This is a series that keeps escaping me. I am a conjugation specialist exploiter wizard, wirh a lot of skills and can fill any role for casting/supporting/controlling the party needs. He has played through Hard Mode 14-15 Rasping Rebirth and Betrayal in the Bones with no problem.

Does not have a character sheet on the forums yet because he is my main pen and paper character, but that can be done in a day if he is selected.

Grand Lodge

A masked figure walks in, wearing a sleeveless blue robe. On his left arm, burned symbols of the Golarion pantheon seem to be etched, like scars across his bodies. He speaks patiently. Hello everyone. I am glad to find more seekers to join our ranks. I am Ras’al, seeker of knowledge and whisperer to the void. Immortality is definitely an under represented study, and I would love to figure out it’s fine features. If you will let me, I would love to study them wirh you all. there seems to be a presence around him, one of solitude and great power. Light seems to bend slightly around him.

As a side note, he has a collection of animals in jars. His collection of powerful enemies he has Baleful Polymorphed and kept to study. He is very weird...

Im 1 XP short of level 14, but I am also completely fine playing in higher tier. I love a challenge.

Grand Lodge

The overwhelming odor of horses barges into the room, followed by a shabbily dressed, yet extremely pretty man with long, straight black hair. "Heed me mortals, and rise for the mighty, wise and dangerous dragon: Riddywipple!"

Grand Lodge

A tiny blur of purple, pink and orange zips to the center of the room and lands gracefully on the table. Wings flared and neck held high, the little dragon snorts a blast of bright colors, then pointedly stares down each person in the room. "The only thing that tastes better than you, is candy. So mortals would do well to keep me fat with candy, lest their days end in the belly of a dragon."

Spellcraft DC 16:
Huritt is casting ventriloquism.

Riddywipple lets out a fart loud enough to have come from an ogre, then continues in an even squeakier voice, "And I also love to groom human's hair and pick the lice out of their scalps."

The dragon turns to glare at Huritt, then flies to a corner and curls up, using one wing as a pillow.

Grand Lodge

The human brushes some hay off his cloak, then seats himself at the table. "Now that we'll be working together, I suppose it's time to reveal my true identity: Huritt Two-Hoof. You've probably heard of my alter ego: Aram Zey. I used that persona to hide my true power from the Aspis Consortium. But as you will soon learn, the situation is dire and should any of us hold back in the slightest, all of us will surely perish."

Sense Motive DC 50:
Huritt is completely full of s#&%.

Bluff: 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (19) + 31 = 50

Huritt is a 38 XP sorcerer (character sheet needs a lot of updating). Deception/illusion is his greatest skill and pleasure, but he can also control a battlefield pretty well. For example, a persistent mass reduce person (DC 26) plus a persistent slow (DC 25). His damage capacity is next to nil, though.

He also has a couple dozen scrolls for versatility, that usually get activated by Riddywipple.

Grand Lodge

Ahh, well met Riddywipple. I have heard of your great exploits in the Grand Lodge. Your reputation is nothing compared to how you are in the flesh. And Lavode, i am happy to see another master of the arcane join our ranks. This should be very interesting...

Ras is completely stated up and ready to go on the forums. He has a huge spell book, and can change up the spells he takes. If we want a full party of mages, I can bring a full arsenal of blasting spells if you would prefer. Skills are all very good too, only thing he is lacking is disable device, but can cover all other angles.

Spell list he usually prepares with ballanced team...:

..7th (3/day) [DC26] Qu Haste, Pe Baleful Polymorph, Hi Chains of Light
..6th (4/day) [DC25] Chains of Light, Chains of Light, Chains of Light, Qu Glitterdust
..5th (5/day) [DC24] Posession, Baleful Polymorph, Baleful Polymorph, Break Enchantment, Cone of Cold
..4th (5/day) [DC23] Emergency Force Sphere, Pe Glitterdust, Confusion, Dimention Door, Telekinetic Charge
..3rd (6/day [DC22] Haste, Heroism, Displacement, Fireball, Aqueous Orb, Communal Resist Energy
..2nd (6/day) [DC21] Glitterdust, Glitterdust, Resist Energy, Create Pit, Mirror Image, See Invisibility
..1st (7/day) [DC20] Magic Missile, Magic Missile, Protection from Evil, Hightened Awareness, Snowball, Grease, Snowball
..0th (-/day) [DC19] Light, Message, Detect Magic, Arcane Mark

Note! - All conjuration spells have the Capasity of being 4 higher DC. All other spells have the potential to be 2 higher DC.

Grand Lodge

Dwarf came into the room in Monk's Outfit. He bows. Then he approaches the nearest person and hands a piece of paper. On paper is written.
My name is Dorje. I'm not talking because of my vow.

Dorje is level 12 monk. But if needed I have level 12 bard and arcanist

1 person marked this as a favorite.
My PFS Lavode De'Morcaine wrote:

A buffer is super important, no worries. These aren't hard and fast roles, and we'll be taking 6, not 4, I just wanna makes sure those things are covered at minimum, otherwise life is gonna suuuuuuuck.

Ras'al Til can fufill skill monkey it looks like and has most if not all of the knowledge checks covered.

Dorje Wangchuk, I like your gumption, and you can fufill a bit of that meat shield/damage role as a monk.

Huritt Two-hoof, I giggled, your character is hilarious and I love it. Battle control and versatility is certainly helpful.

Lavode De'morcaine can also help with versatility it looks like, and summons can certainly take on a battle roll.

If I can make recommendations, you'll want to find at least a healer before we get started, and another fighter type wouldn't hurt since you have plenty of magic to throw around. I love all your characters so far though. :)

The Exchange

I am going to throw my hat in the ring as well with another arcane caster. We have two sorcerers and a wizard, time to add in a witch!

Garam is a damage dealer and control orintated witch with a fondness for disabling cold based magic. He has access to a wide array of spells and can manage a bit of healing if needed (he has a sigle heal, what could go wrong) and he has the various condition removal spells. He can act as an effective face (high bluff, diplomacy and sense motive) as well as decent stealth, perception and UMD.

In terms of the rolls above he is a mixture of skill monkey and damage dealer with a focus on area effect damage and disable effects with his memorised spells. Single target he tends to use his hexes. He also comes with a wand wileding, UMD using Imp familiar.

I should note that I have both run this several times (including hard mode) and played it so I would be burning GM stars to replay.

The Exchange

A short, thin human with greying hair and pale skin slowly floats into the room. He observes the group then doubles over in a fit of coughing.

All this fresh air isn't good for me, give me the musty depths of the library of the Grand Lodge every day. He sighs, I knew it couldn't last, you try to retire but they just keep dragging you back just because there's some sort of desperate crisis that needs someone who knows what they are doing

He pauses and sizes up the people already here and gives out a short barking laugh, Ha, old Valsin has been throwing darts at the board again has he! Well, there's enough arcane firepower in this room to level a small city, I cant imagine whatever the trouble is would be much of an issue for you lot.

Those of you more perceptive hear somerthing whispering in his ear Master, you have not told them who you are, remember, you have been retired a long time, best to let them know. Wandering down in those catacombs all this time has left you forgetful. Also I dont like the dragon thing, can I dribble poison in its ears while it sleeps?

Hush you he mutters, swiping at something on his shoulder.

Oh yes, my name, Garam Gallonica. Pleased to meet you all

A small creature slowly comes into view sitting on Garams soulder and hisses at Riddywhipple.

Scarab Sages

Am tempted...

Just haven't played my oracle in a couple of years... and he was never a power house to begin with. So 3 later season hard modes in a row is a bit intimidating.

Dooooooo it. >.>

Grand Lodge

We really need a heavy martial focused dps...are there truly none out there?

You know you want to.

Grand Lodge

Depending on when you want to get started I could be talked into bringing in my soon to be Level 15 Dwarf fighter. He is currently completing Unleashing the Untouchable via Play by Post. I am not sure exactly how much longer that is going to take at the moment.

Grand Lodge

Rurik would definitely fill the front liner role, but I'm not sure whether Teriq has enough healing, without heal or channeling. With the current roster, we would probably need to buy several scrolls of heal--every scenario.

Scarab Sages

Well, I do have a level 6 and 7 spell to pick.
Heal could be one of them.

But ya, no channeling for sure.

Grand Lodge

If Teriq learns heal and we buy several scrolls of heal, that should be enough. Huritt can auto-activate a scroll, and Riddywipple only fails the UMD check on a 1, so we could reliably drop three heal spells in a round if things really go sideways.

Ras'al Til
Dorje Wangchuk,
Huritt Two-hoof
Lavode De'morcaine
Teriq Ashfall
Garam Gallonica

Are the folks I have in the running so far.

Rurik Delver, I'm fine with you joining, but if your not sure when you'll be done I'd hate to make everyone wait, though you seem to be the only beefcake to apply so far besides Dorje. It'd kinda depend on how others feel.

Are you other 6 feeling comfortable with this crew? Or do you guys wanna hold out for someone else?

Liberty's Edge

This guy has been waiting for years to get into Seeker level adventure, so I really don't mind if we wait. On the other hand, it is hard to imagine too much magical might. So I am ok either way.

Grand Lodge

Fice arcane casters and a monk? That sounds like a massive ball of fun, I’m down.

Only questions is what is our APL? Becuase most of us are 13+ and our only frontline monk is 12. So if we play upper tier, he will struggle. Either way, I’m fine playing either tier. Just wanted to raise this.

Grand Lodge

I'm in no hurry, fine waiting for our fighter.

Scarab Sages

I'm not comfortable with any of it! =)

Though have long ago learned having the frontliner be the lowest level, is usually not a good idea. So if there are tiers, that might be relevant.

I've not played this guy for a few years, so am in no rush. 8P

Got two waits, one go ahead, and one meh, so we'll wait for a bit and see if we can get another fighter, though that will bump one of you out. This is tiered, just so you know.

The Exchange

I am afraid I am going to have to drop. I am a bit overcommitted at the moment, especially with Outpost II starting soon. On the plus side this gives you a space for someone who can frontline.

Grand Lodge

@Rurik: Does the GM for your current game have an estimate of when it should finish?

Sent him a PM, but if he's already level 15, he may actually level out of range when he completes the mission he's on, as these are meant to be played with the same team and you actually lose a bunch of benefits if any of the team hasn't played previous parts. May need another frontline to step in.

Grand Archive

If you're willing to wait until the current siege of diamond city games end, I'll happily bring my monk/paladin/champion of irori to keep the casters safe. He has a lot of chronicles waiting for him to finish to push him to 12.

I have a 12 Fighter who dual wields Dwarven Dorn Dergars and a 13 Fighter who Sunders and Vital Strikes with a Lucerne Hammer. Both were irl, but I'm moving more characters to PbP now that I have a baby. I would have to use stars to play. I put a rogue through on 14-15.

I have a magus that has ran the first two portions. If you manage to get to the third part I would love to join in. Good luck to you all playing this on hard mode.. You will need it..

EDIT: It has been a min since I played pfs. Is there still a rule about not playing a scenario again with a different character? If not I have a Barb 13 that could join.

Grand Archive

Yeah, you can't repeat scenarios even with different scenarios unless you have earned a replay credit.

Grand Lodge

Do we really need to play this on Hard mode??

Grand Archive

Personally, if there is the option of hard mode, I'd always prefer it so I know I didn't miss any of the experience of the scenario, especially since it would take burning a replay to experience it again on hard mode if I didn't play it that way the first time.

Grand Lodge

zer0darkfire wrote:

Same here. Well, as long as we get a balanced party that can handle the challenge.

Grand Archive

I'm going to withdraw my application for current time constraints, so feel free to pick the other front liner.

I'd love to have you along for the ride ZDF. :) I think since we're filling out the last slot though, it might be more up to the guys we've already got if their okay with waiting. How much longer do you think you might be? I know it's a pretty swift moving thing since it's a special.

No offense Thralleon, but I'd prefer to take guys in who haven't played before if I can help it, since this isn't one that gets run often.

Grand Archive

Well, if you need me to join I will, but I'd rather someone else be able to play. I'm pretty sure we are in the last section of the scenario, although the site maintenance slowed us down.

Ninja'd! Oh well, we'll keep waiting on another frontliner or Rudrik, whoever is avalible first (He did confirm that it'd be after his current mission he'd be 15.

Edit: If you don't feel you can do it ZDF, don't worry about it. I only want people to sign in if they really are excited and want to. :)

Grand Archive

I'll let you know after the scenario concludes then, but I'll definitely try to make some room in my bandwidth for it.

None taken

Grand Archive

Looks like siege of the diamond city just finished, just waiting on the Chronicle. Let me know if you still want me to fill that frontline position, I don't have too many active games now.

Grand Lodge

Still very keen to play. Bump bump!

Grand Archive

Got chronicle and some free spots so I'm up for it now.

Grand Lodge

Ready to deploy, sir!
