I rhink Ibb would have a possibility to strike now with haste active? Fung still misses with the +1 to hit.

Umbrato boost the party with the power of agility through the spell Haste.

Fung and Daniel move closer but with caution as they decide not to jump inside the negative energy zone. From afar they attack, Fung's attack misses but Daniel strikes true.

Seems like someone slightly moved the map and removed the circle of the negative plane leakage. Not a worry, mistakes happen but please do inform me as they might have unintended consequence. If you're unsure if it's been moved, also do let me know so I can verify. eg. On the moved map it showed Rallas 10 ft away from blue, but in actuality he was 5ft once the map was corrected.

Ibb and Rallas surround one of the Guecubu and attempt to strike it down hastily. While their strikes hit, the creatures proves to be a strong opponent, and doesn't flinch.

The negative energy escaping from the dimensional crack begins to burn everyone that finds themselves within proximity of the heavily influenced area. I.e. Cernan,Ibb,Rallas. The undeads slightly recover from the hurt they've taken earlier. In addition, they have fast healing 5

For each attack that hit, you must make a DC20 Will save or be permanently cursed by misfortune. But even if we bring him back now, he would still be prone in front of guecubu. He can't crawl away or would get an AoO which would take him down again. But if he stays, he'll keep taking the negative energy damage. My idea then is to try to take down the guecubu in one round, then bring Rallas back to life with the Healing Sacrifice. Does that sound right?

Fung is torn, ready to dive in to rescue Rallas, but a quick consideration of the options do not look good. Instead, he pulls from the elemental energy around him and releases a powerful blast at the undead while drifting closer, ready to reach down to Rallas later.

Daniel nods his thanks to Umbrato for the buff as he moves up to engage the enemy. Watching his allies tear his first target limb from limb, he switches over to the other as Rallas thuds to the ground. Taking a deep breath to consider his options, he watches as the second target is mercilessly attacked. Good decision, we can heal or mourn once the scourge is down. War is but a lesser version of the hell we pray to avoid by fighting it.

He unleashes many arrows at the standing undead fiend.

Cernan, that is correct!

Daniel's follow through eventually forces the undead being to yield as it crumbles to the earth where it stands. By this time, a few Twinhorn mystics have begun preparing a ritual to close the rift, ideally forever, but it becomes clear the planar tear has a will of it's own and begins to actively fight back and even tries to rip itself wider. If the mystics are to succeed, they clearly require your assistance.

While it's not explicitly written, it seems to make sense that the assistance would take place within the tear and hence make you susceptible to the ongoing N. Energy affect every round. You are allowed to heal before attempting to assist. The alternative to assisting the ritual is to jump into the tear to face whatever monsters lie inside.

There are a few ways a PC can defend the rift:
Contribute Magic: Although skillful practitioners perform the ritual, magical energy helps sustain it. By expending one prepared spell or unused spell slot from their highest or second-highest spell slot (minimum 1st level), a PC can fuel the ritual with their raw magical power. Doing so requires no check.

Defend the Site: Until the ritual concludes, undead continue to emerge from the rift, and monsters encroach from the wilderness. With a successful attack roll or Craft (traps) check, a PC neutralizes one or more of these threats as they approach, keeping the ritual’s participants safe. A PC can also succeed at this task by using a spell or ability that harms undead.

Perform the Ritual: With a successful Knowledge (arcana), Knowledge (planes), Knowledge (religion), Spellcraft , Perform (dance or sing) or Use Magic Device check, a PC applies her expertise to the ritual, increasing its power.

Prepare Reagents: The ritual includes numerous powerful focuses and material components, and the Twinhorn mystics brought most of what they need. However, the rift’s resilience requires far more materials than anticipated. With a successful Appraise, Craft (alchemy), Heal, Knowledge (nature), or Profession (herbalist) check, a PC adeptly prepares additional ritual focuses that are quickly incorporated into the incantations.

Others:You may aid others in their check in your turn, or try something creative

Once you are ready, select your task and make your check. Or let me know if the team somehow decides to jump into the rift!

Rallas, did you heal of your damage earlier

N.Energy effect: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (7, 6) + 2 = 15

Bravely, the Pathfinders brace the N. Energy, defend and assist with the ritual. Majority of the Twinhorn mystics are still setting themselves around the stone circle, and there are relatively few undead threats emerging at this time.

The few who assist in the ritual struggle to really understand how the ritual works, and perhaps even accidentally undermines the ritual in a minor way with their efforts.

Ibb clearly knows what he's doing by strong arming every undead threat before they can become hostile to the ritual.

Daniel expends his magic to help sustain the ritual effects.

However, the ritual is now only beginning to build momentum, if the ritual is to succeed, they will need more help.

cure serious: 3d8 + 9 ⇒ (6, 7, 2) + 9 = 24

Daniel will use his Pearl of Power to refresh the same spell and then repeat, cringing as the negative energy burns his organs, "ouch, you all went through this when fighting those guys? Wow, not fun."

He waves his thanks to the pathfinder who stopped by to channel some healing energy for them, though his bones still hurt.

I thought the next part started right after the battle finished...if I had time I would have got someone to cast Infernal healing on me...how long would we have had?

GM said we could heal before starting the ritual. I'm assuming we can't heal during the ritual though would be happy if that were not the case.

With a shrug as the energy eats away at him, Umbrato refocuses. Taking his time to watch the ritual a moment, he smiles. "Oh! I see it now. If you do this...then that'll weaken enough to do..."

Certain he's figured out the task at hand, the small man begins to explain in great detail the mechanics behind what he's doing to the others.

I say round, but each part is actually 5 minutes, and the scenario doesn't give the guidance of the in between only that it says that you need contribute to the most challenging parts of the ritual. It doesn't make sense to continue rolling 50 rounds of negative energy damage, It made sense to me to treat as 1 round of affects and assume that everything in between (49 rounds) manages itself, is you focusing on the ritual, fighting, healing.... etc as such, in my head mid round healing doesn't seem to make sense.. but you need not worry about that as you won't be put into a situation that is dangerous to health at this point, it's really more an RP thing like "Oh no, the N. energy is affecting us, we need to use all our might to close it out before it consumes the world! AHHHH!"

As the ritual progresses, the rift contorts in response as if angry. The building negative energy releases violently, washing over the area and causing many of the ritual focuses to crumble.

Xuan Fung and Ibb continue fighting off evil forces in hopes the mystics are able to put up against the malevolent energy, but it becomes to clear the twinhorn need a lot of help if they are to overcome the affects of the retaliating plane.

N.Energy?: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 6) + 2 = 10

If from the description you'd like to change your action, please let me know. I went ahead to assume Ibb and Fung are unlikely to change their actions.

Rallas, Daniel, Cernan, your actions are up!

Ah missed that.

The surge of negative energy nearly overwhelms the mystics! Daniel contributes magic in a similar way again. Rallas and Umbrato struggle to contribute to the spell in a meaningful way and cause a few small mishaps that hopefully go unnoticed.

The UMD results did not pass the DC.

With the ritual starting to take whole and causing the rift to slowly close, it begins to unusually and acts as some sort of beacon. Soon an a surge of undead creatures begin to attempt to overwhelm the mystics. Not only are they coming from within the rift, but undead creatures nearby have started to come towards the rift to stop the ritual!

Unfortunately that curse really hit you guys hard with the result of the successes, and a few unfortunate rolls did contribute. You guys were one success away in round 2 to make this part an overall success.

The Pathfinders admirably defend the site as the ritual continues. Undead from every corner is immediately defeated and forced away by the groups offensive strikes.

Unfortunately, some of the mystics' concentration falter due to the earlier incidents forcing them to remain with the ritual a while longer. But it becomes clear that they have reached a sustainable point in the ritual and no longer need you help for now.

We can pause here until the next transition in a few days, or attempt to go into the rift. Based on earlier sentiments, I'm going to assume that we will be taking a breather.

**OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT**

The combined Pathfinder and Twinhorn forces shatter undead bones and topple the walking dead, even while sustaining wounds of their own. However, their momentum seems unstoppable. The holy approval of the empyreal lord Vildeis grows stronger, as if recognizing the Pathfinders’ righteousness by causing their weapons, armor, and even blood to shimmer with angelic power.

Table GMs, the Empyreal Approval condition on pg. 23 is now in effect, restoring the PCs’ expended blessings of Vildeis.
