Daniel points at the bubbling ripples and yells, "right there! Watch out!" He quickly retreats to a hopefully safer distance and then casts a spell, strengthening his bowstring.

This is a supernatural ability. This racial trait replaces shadow magic.

GM Dennis |
**OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT**
It is difficult to tell how much time has passed through the smothering canopy as Medda addresses the regrouped Pathfinder and Twinhorn forces. “The ancient battlefield is just beyond those trees. There, Ivvora and her comrades scattered an undead army, but the necromantic taint never left this land. Instead, the plants and animals have gradually absorbed the evil, encouraged by someone calling herself Mother Bloodleaf.
“We must strike as one, simultaneously attacking the corruption’s heart as well as the seedpods spread out around the swamp. Their destruction will unleash harmful energies, so we of the Twinhorn following shall head toward the center to ritually disperse that energy to keep it from festering anew! Each team should follow its Twinhorn mystic to an intended target, and from there, three blasts of a horn shall signal our attack. May Vildeis bless us as she did Ivvora before us!”
Medda, the Twinhorns, and the Pathfinders spread out and make their way through the woods to their striking positions. When all are in position, three blasts of a war-horn echo across the heavily forested battleground. As the Pathfinders rush toward their targets, startled figures with purple glowing eyes hurry toward the seedpods and the enormous dark flower at the heart of the swamp. A shriek carries over the battleground. “What treachery is this? My minions have fallen without so much as warning me? No matter, I shall rip out any trespassers’ souls and feed them to the blight!”
Table GMs, the Unaware Guardians condition is now in effect, in addition to the Helpful Spirits condition. The way to area Q is now open. Please move to that encounter area quickly.
GM Batpony |
The ancient battleground has turned into a fetid swamp that fills the air with the scent of death and decay. Rusted weapons jut out from the patches of solid land. Here and there, skeletal remains and grimacing skulls clad in ruined iron peek out from the glowing mire. A seedpod pulsing with purplish energy grows on an islet across the swamp.
The spirits that accompany you whisper amongst themselves as they come into view of the purple blighted seedpod, a large kernel with a hardened husk that pulses with purple light, and offer you aid, "We shall help you bring the downfall of the blight! You must destroy the pod!"
Helpful Spirits: The forest spirits accompanying you use their powers to open two connected portals that allow instantaneous movement between two trees of your choice. These trees cannot be more than 60 feet apart. When a creature enters the area of the portal tree, they can appear in a space adjacent to the other portal tree. The portals work both ways and remain open for 1 minute. You can choose which trees form the portals and only you and your allies can use the portals. Spells and effects do not travel through these portals. When the encounter begins, one player can attempt a Hard Knowledge (nature) or Spellcraft check to increase the distance between the trees to 120 feet. Just highlight the two trees on the map for this purpose.
The swamp water glows unusually a light green tint, illuminating and creating visibility around the land. Dim light conditions, The swamp (Green areas on the map, is about 2 feet deep and functions as a shallow bog for which it costs 2 squares of movement to enter a square.
The large fallen tree near the center of the map forms a slick barrier about 10 feet tall, requiring either an DC17 Climb check to clamber over it or a DC20 Escape Artist check to slip under it while moving half speed. The narrow fallen tree that crosses to the heart of the blight is unsteady and slippery; a creature must succeed at a DC20 Acrobatics check to cross it, and failing the check by 5 or more dumps that PC in the water.
From around the corner, without warning, a few creatures have come into your view. They look as surprised to see you as you are them, and definitely do not look to be friendly by any means. Leading the pack, is a mass of tangled vines and dripping slime rises on two trunk-like legs, reeking of rot and freshly turned earth. Following, is a unarmed troll, who looks to be corrupted by the blight. Beside him a monstrous looking bulbous, pitchershaped flower, with serpentine vines.
Kn. Nature, Local and Nature respectively to identify the creatures.
Attacking the seedpod is akin to attacking a inanimate object, but it does have an AC so you will to make attack rolls against it.

Sir Ibb |
Do we have a chance to put up hour long buffs beforehand? Ibb has an 80-minute mutagen, and Longstrider. He would also have his ioun torch out if he saw the lighting in the swamp is dim. If not, that's fine. For now I am going to refrain from marking a light source on the map.
I circled a couple potential portals 60' apart with the aim of getting us to the seed pod ASAP. Feel free to change this — it's just a suggestion for now; that said, as long as we're all on the same page here about using the portal to get to the pods ASAP Ibb will use his fly speed to move through it. This is a little awkward, as placing the portals should be a group effort but it doesn't translate well in PbP….
Ibb flaps his arms, sprouting thrush wings! 40' fly; if we place the portal elsewhere he will either go towards it or go through it; right now he can just make it with 40' fly. Now that I think about it, maybe a portal closer to the main group would be best, so others can get over there on this round and not have to worry about being cut off by behind enemy lines.
edit: I marked a second option in blue on the map. Umbrato has +11 spellcraft, so maybe he can make a high check…
He flies to the tree and passes through the portal.

The scenario doesn't really say, but I will say that hour long buffs would be practical to assume you had them on as you were travelling in search of danger. Minute long buffs would not make sense as you were not sure when danger would come.
Irp does not know of this troll's abilities, but is fairly familiar with the plant like creatures. The blighted flower, is also known as a crypt flower, a dangerous acidic carnivorous plant that attempts to poison it's victims and eat them whole. A crypt flower can use its shoots to dig rapidly through soil, dirt, sand, or other loose ground. This constant activity makes it difficult to manoeuvre around it.
Acid attack/resist, some sort of poison, swallow whole ability, and all 20ft distance around the creature is difficult terrain.
The other blighted vine like creature is a shambling mound, intelligent, rotting mass of vegetation. To your surprise, the creature is naturally resilient to lightning and fire.

I like the blue portals as it is possible to get in and out without getting into the green swampy water. However, can anyone try the Knowledge(Nature) or Spellcraft check to get greater distance between the portals? If succeed, we can have the nearer portal practically beside us and the further one next to the bridge that reaches the seedpod. Doesn't matter much for Fung as he can fly and has enough speed to fly to the seedpod in one move action with the portals as is.

Rallas jumps into the swamp, unbeknownst to him, the blight has corrupted and desecrated the swamp making it somewhat toxic. The elf feels the poison of the swamp start to burn through. Affect only occurs on start of next turn, but you should be aware that something is amiss. This is negative energy damage

Daniel Thrace |
With the enemies closing in on them, Daniel takes a step next to the tree-portal thing and sights in on the troll druid fire explosion master, attempting to help Umbrato interrupt the spell. With a flurry of activity, he fires many arrows at the beast.
5-ft step, full attack vs. Troll

Sir Ibb |
Now that it looks like his teammates have the crypt flower well in hand, Ibb decides to
CHAAARRRRRGGGGE!!
the spellcaster.
Power Attack; Furious Focus; Mutagen; +2 Adamantine Nodachi +20/15-20x2: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (3) + 20 = 23
P,S, Magical, Adamantine, Mutagen: 1d10 + 26 ⇒ (8) + 26 = 34
Not sure how tall the trees are. If Ibb can't charge while flying here, he'll double move. I feel like he probably can't charge here but wanted to roll the dice in case the answer is "yes." He will definitely eat an AOO to get in this caster's face, regardless.
