As the yellow-sashed Kellid flees from the melee, Bellius reaches out with his longspear, placing the haft between the man's shins to try to trip him.

Combat Maneuver (Trip), bless: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 1 = 22

Using a Trip combat maneuver as an attack of opportunity. If this maneuver is successful (which I believe it will be), the yellow Kellid would be prone in whatever square he was when he provoked from Bellius.

Prank War Map

Bellius is able to trip to the man as he flees. He is unable to make much distance from the group as he sputters with confusion.

Bellius studies the prone man like a cat studying a mouse, and strikes out fiercely with his longspear at the downed man, though he attempts to avoid the vital regions.

Considering you get a +4 to hit a prone target, I'm sure that you're fine. :D I would have gotten a post in sooner, but I was out playing with my local PFS group. I'll just wait for GM Blazej too confirm if the combat is over or not before posting something substantial.

Prank War Map

Bellius is able to score a decisive blow to knock out the warrior, but in the warrior's fight to block the attack, it connects the head with a considerable amount of force. The warrior is left bleeding from the blow and likely will need aid soon before he succumbs to the wound.

Combat over. Warrior ended up taking 19 lethal damage from the blow since the non-lethal was in excess of his hit points. He is bleeding out.

Even before he sees the result, Bellius feels the lethal damage unintentionally dealt by his attack, snapping back from the thrill of combat. A sick feeling rises in the pit of his stomach as he realizes the gravity of the Kellid's wound. "Gods' deaths!" the man curses as he drops to a knee and attempts to staunch the bleeding wound from the mortally wounded Kellid's head barehanded.

"Healer!" he shouts, blood gushing through his fingers, "this one's bleeding out!"

Whoops! Well to be fair, Bellius did say he was bad at dealing nonlethal damage. I will attempt a heal check if others don't stabilize, but I wanted to give a chance for others to post, and I thought it was a fun RP opportunity.

Bellius breathes a sigh of relief as he sees Benu's magical healing stabilize the Kellid. He turns and bows to the priest. The blood-covered hands and garments make the young man's bow appear just a bit out of place.

"Thank you, Benu," he says. "I can do without any extra deaths on my conscience." Turning to the samurai, he adds a second bow, "And thank you as well, Ken'ichi."

He pulls a cloth from his clothing and begins to wipe himself and the Kellid down (with limited success). The archer gives a sigh, as he goes to retrieve his bow.

"Be right back, friends. I'm going to rinse off." He is able to remove most of the blood using water from the nearby pond. After a minute or so, he retrieves his longbow and rejoins the group.

Logan collects a healing potion from the warrior along with an axe and composite longbow as the bleeding warrior wounds are tended to and he is stabilized.

Shortly after another band of the Twinhorn warriors approaches, part of the entourage that traveled with you to and from the blighted forest. They keep their weapons low as they watch the horizon for more threats.

The leader among them shows a great amount of distress looking upon the fallen warriors. "I saw from a distance. These two were among those who volunteered to stay here and defend these lands from the portal. Yet they turned to follow her despite that."

She says a prayer for them as she adds, "Thank you for sparing them. The wounds you took for them are another sign to everyone here of your honor. Yet we do not wish to make you carry these wounds for us." She takes a moment and withdraws a pair of potions. "Take these along with our continued thanks."

Among the two warriors were a pair of potions of cure light wounds, the leader of this band of Twinhorn is providing you another two potions of cure moderate wounds as well.

With both the channel and that potion I believe Bahen is left with 2 damage.

The team leader breaks her group in two, one taking the unconscious pair from the area. "I would wish for nothing more than to suggest you continue pressing throughout this land. Yet I feel the power of the rift wavering even now. I pray your fellow Pathfinders can put an end to Eshmika, but we should be ready for any other plan or escape she may have ready."

She begins to lead her group back to the rift and bids you to follow.

"The other terrors that roam this land will need to be put aside for the moment, if our children are to ever live in safety we should now turn our eyes upon the portal and be fully prepared." The dark and dismal landscape leaves little to the eyes on the path, and the site of it nearly brings the Twinhorn woman to tears. She breaks open another subject to take her own mind off of the horrors of her homeland as she asks, "I assume you know several among the Twinhorn venerate Vildeis including myself. From a young age I heard the songs of the warrior Ivvora. It was her wholehearted devotion that saved my tribe from evil many years ago. I hope to repeat that again and make this land safe for my tribe in the generations to come."

"What of you all? I understand the Pathfinders hold a variety of faiths. Many of them I must say I'm surprised to see on a cause such as this, even if this was at the behest of your leaders."

"I strive to follow what I believe is the path laid out by the Last Azlanti, Aroden." The Taldan pauses briefly before continuing, "Everyone believes Aroden to be dead, and perhaps he is. But I do not believe he failed in ushering in the Age of Glory that was foretold."

"No. Aroden would not have failed at such a task. Rather, I believe he purposefully offered an opportunity for his charges to reach out and create that age without the interference of gods or prophecy."

His face takes on a sad expression as he continues, "Cheliax was primed to grasp this, but failed to do so, turning to diabolism as a means of power, and showing that they were not ready to stand on their own."

The archer continues, "I do not have a quarrel with the other gods. Still, I look forward to the day first when humanity leaves its childhood behind and learns to stand on their own, ushering in a new and glorious age without the need for divine intervention, and then leading the other races of Golarion into the same. And I seek to do what I can to aid in the birth of this great and unrealized potential."

Ken'ichi remains silent for a moment, letting the others say their peace first. Finally, he speaks up, "I have learned, through my training and travels, to venerate the spirits. While the gods oversee many things in our world, the spirits are active and present, and often have impacts that we don't see. So I venerate them and aid them whenever possible."

Prank War Map

She nods as she appraises Bellius's words. "I believe I can understand a matter of having faith despite the hardships put forth. Is your work with the Pathfinders what leads you to this goal or do still accomplish this when you even when not in battle? Working with training others, outreach programs, or becoming a leader of your community? It was difficult for myself to find a life outside of battle until learned to tend to the wounded and infirm."

*

She seems comforted by Benu's faith with her mind wandering to other lands as she responds, "I'm familiar with Andoletta as another of the empyreal lords. Our tribe met with several other of her worshipers over the years as we passed through Lastwall. There is a small township has a congregation devoted to her. I don't doubt for a moment their conviction. I'm proud to have you among our side here now and hopefully we can make take on the task for the sake of all others."

*

"I certainly agree," she states, offering no suggestion of objection to Logan. "We are glad to have Vildeis's blessing, but even without it I would still stand here and do all I was able to fight this threat. What I find in the faith is solidarity, even in the darkest times I know others have faced trials as I have and that reminds me that I'm not alone as I risk my own life fighting. Is there anyone or any cause you fight for Logan?"

*

"Your bond between you and Dhavak is strong and no one in my tribe would question it. Medda, and those who have come before her, have all bound themselves to Anok. While they are not like you two, they also have an emotional bond tying them together."

*

"I must admit I have not thought of that prior to this last journey," she admits as she responds to Ken'ichi, "but over the course of working with the Pathfinders and seeing how they can find allies among fey, spirits, and dragons I wonder if I have discounted to quickly the aid we could provide one another. If you are able, I would wish to ask you after if you could offer your advice your own dealing with the spirits. Both those that are active and those whose effects we may have failed to see."

You are brought back to the stone circle and little has changed since you have left, aside the addition of a few more destroyed undead about the perimeter. The air is filled with a dull chanting as everyone stands ready for any reports from the Pathfinder teams within the rift itself.

As an update, I would expect to be ready for the next encounter to start within a day or so.

The combined Pathfinder and Twinhorn forces have beaten back the worst of Eshimka’s vanguard, and their spellcasters are hard at work repairing the damage around the planar rift. It seems there is at last a lull when a pair of blade-like arms stab through the rift and tear it wider. The wound releases a wave of negative energy that crashes into the mystics’ wards, though the shock causes the trees for hundreds of feet around to wither, their limbs snapping off and turning to ash before hitting the ground. Through the widened rift steps a towering giant with sinister horns, shaking the ground with every step as her army follows her: vampires, towering suits of armor, hungry corpses, and even a powerful dragon! Medda’s shout carries over the din. “Eshimka is here! Strike now!”

The giant laughs thunderously as it regards the mortals around it and tears of pieces of her own flesh that turn into nightmarish beasts. “The living are no match for my might. Spread out, and reduce every one of these mortals to dust!”

There is a vast battle going on around you as the undead match against the Twinhorn and other Pathfinders. Several undead break off to strike at you, charging from Eshimka's vast army. Two are tortured humanoid souls, their bodies dripping astral stuff as they fly at you unleashing horrid wails.

Behind them is an abomination, an unquiet soul that has taken the form of an amalgamation equine creature with a wolf's head and claws. It's eyes glow with a red hue that, even at this distance, inspires nothing but fear into even the stalwart of warriors.

Knowledge (religion) DC 10 to identify phantoms:
These are undead made of ectoplasm an unearthly semi-liquid substance that, while not incorporeal, is able to pass though phsysical barriers with enough effort. Weapons still will harm them, but slashing weapons will be the most effective as blows from bludgeoning and piercing weapons would be dulled against their frames.

Knowledge (religion) DC 13 to identify monstrous undead:
This is a vukodlak, a powerful undead that tears into the flesh of their victims, draining them of their blood in the process. Their gaze is enough to trigger a primal fear response in many, paralyzing someone in fear until they can overcome the initial panic (Will save vs mind-affecting fear or be paralyzed for one round. Saving against this renders you immune for 24 hours. Also a reminder that you all still have the blessing of Vildeis.

Eshmika is on the field of battle as well fighting the most powerful of Pathfinders on the field. She is a distance away, but her effects are wide ranging and could easily connect with you at the side of this battle. In order to redirect this attack away or interfere with her landing the attack against your group, you would need to make a ranged attack against her of sufficent damage or a Bluff check (as a standard action).

Gaze Attacks: The rest of the party will likely be able to tell, one way or another, the negative effects of this gaze attack. It only began to effect Logan at a distance of 30 feet. You can fight normally and attempt Will saves (as Logan), avert your gaze from the monster (The mosnter would gain concealment from you and would have a 50% chance to still make the Will save), or close your eyes (or turn your back, wear a blindfold) this would give the monster total concealment against you.

Using 8-99C: 1d20 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 2 + (5) = 15

Logan looked back at the monstrous undead and paused momentarily before being filled with the inspiration of Vildeis to flip it off as he avoided the attack. "Nope."

Prank War Map

As Eshimka fights the other Pathfinders she releases a wave of necromantic energy that rushes across the field even catching others in the crossfire. It burns through your flesh while mending the damage already done to the undead. As one saving grace though, it seems as though the Pathfinder fight against her will be focusing her attention directly on them in the moments to come.

Negative Energy Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7

Everyone needs to make a DC 15 Will save or take 7 negative energy damage.

Benu: As a note for you, I wanted to make certain you knew that you did not need to make a concentration check. Casting from a scroll doesn't require a concentration check when taking damage.

Ken'ichi gasps in pain as the negative energy rips through his body. Rather than give into it, though, he draws his blade, almost like a physical manifestation of the strength that he draws to carry on, and attacks the yellow phantom.

Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Benu finishes reading the scroll and as it fades to dust a celestial wolf appears in the melee. He then steps over to Ken and draws the cure scroll in case he needs it.

The wolf snarls a challenge and bites the phantom.

Bite with flank: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage with Smite: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Benu takes a free and the wolf is activating smite.

Prank War Map

Bahen: Your turn isn't up just yet, but I can use that for your next action on blue after the phantoms act. Also your placement would put you in range of the wolf-monster's gaze attack. I assume from the action that you would be turning your back on the creature, but that would effectively make you blind against that wolf-monster. Otherwise you would need to make a Will save against the gaze.

Benu (and everyone else): Yes, you are correct. Half damage on the will save.

Benu: Also for scrolls of higher caster level than you, unless you have an ability, you need to make a caster level check vs DC scroll caster level+1 (DC 4 in this case). For the sake of having less unknowns on the battlefield I'll make the check.
Caster Level on Scroll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

Logan: And for clarity, after Logan resists the fear gaze, he feels like, at least for the time being, he feels immune the gaze from this creature.

Ken'ichi's wound is grave enough to give just enough advantage to the phantom to avoid the deadly strike and Dhavak isn't able to land a blow in the spectral, ichorous, floating undead.

As Benu's summoned wolf appears, it doesn't hesitate in tearing down one of the undead instantly, tearing through the ghost with a single bite. There is little left as the phantom evaporates, leaving a barest amount of film where it last lingered.

Emboldened by withstanding against the gaze and negative energy, Logan started maneuvering around it, and called his shot as the drake swooped by to help. He grinned defiantly at the undead. "I'll try my best to remember you longer than tonight."

Using the draconic assist

Gandasa: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 212d4 + 2d6 + 3 + 1d8 ⇒ (1, 2) + (5, 4) + 3 + (1) = 16

Prank War Map

Logan: Because of how Allied Offensive works, you only get flanking after the first hit. It does still do considerable damage, but does lose the sneak attack from the first roll and is only able to study after the second hit.

Bellius keeps his distance but tries to score a hit on the monsterous hound beast himself. The attack falls just short of penetrating the creature's hide. Like many others the undead energy shreds through Bellius's body, not taking him out of the fight, but severely weakening him.

Bellius Attack: longbow(x3): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13Damage: longbow(x3, P): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Bellius Will Save vs Negative Energy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

The monster is severely weakened by the vicious set of attacks from Logan and Zurhriga. The drake cursing the undead for falling prey to Eshmika's call. However each blow is dulled and had trouble digging through the creature's flesh. The beast cries in rage as it is torn through still and has every intent on returning the favor to Logan.

Unless I am missing a special quality on Logan's weapons, neither penetrates the creature's 5 DR.

The slimy phantom flails at Dhavak, but the attacks are predictable and easy enough to dodge.

Blue Slam vs Dhavak: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Logan isn't as lucky as the creature, incensed by the damage dealt, howls and digs his fangs deep into Logan.

Bite vs Logan: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Grab vs CMB: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
I can tell from your stat block if I have grappled Logan with a 18 vs CMD, but the monster has dealt 15 damage to Logan with this hit. Does this grapple?

Bahen is able to move into a flanking position, but the undead is just able to keep one step ahead of the attack and the shortspear is only able to collect a trail of undead drippings.

Meanwhile, near your engagement, Eshmika is able to throw off several undead that have been turned to the Pathfinder side and she is preparing for another major attack. An excellent Bluff check or a highly damaging ranged attack both could disrupt it before it occurs at the start of round 4.

- Round 2 -
Bellius (7 damage)
Monstrous Undead Red (11 damage, flanked until Logan's turn.)
Bahen (9 damage)
Ifzari (3 damage)
Dhavak (7 damage)

- Round 3 -

Benu (7 damage)
Celestial Wolf (Round 2)
Logan (18 damage)

Phantom Blue

Terrain Notes: Forest does not offer cover or concealment. Eshmika is on the battlefield!
Reminders: Everyone still has blessings.
The red marked undead has a 30 ft gaze attack that will paralyze anyone who isn't protected against the gaze. It is a DC 14 will save vs mind-affecting fear to negate this.

But gets caught by the gaze attack.

Well I tried. If the wolf is paralyzed next round that's pretty much it. It probably could close it's eyes and track the thing by scent but I doubt it would with a 2 Int. My channel should catch everyone but I rolled garbage.
