Ifzari
|
As she isn't able to comfort the guy who is already healed, the spiritualist takes her crossbow to be ready if something happens.
Can we say she summoned Dhavak before leaving Medda?
| GM Blazej |
Ifzari can summon Dhavak.
A charge of the wands help the tengu, although he clearly is still exhausted from the path of the swamp.
"Don't really know where the rank little git made off. It shot something horrible at me from a good ways, didn't even get a good look before that." He takes a quick glance around, straining to move his head about to get vision. "I think the rest of my group went after the whelp, but we got cut off and it pushed them back."
"Tried to get an angle, but ended up losing sight of it, and them."
"Have you found any of them yet?"
Bellius isn't finding any threats, but the Pathfinder needs more talking to try to get the most useful information out of him. That or reading his body language to pick up subtle information on where the rest of the group and attacker ended up. Bluff, Diplomacy, Perform (comedy), or Sense Motive check
Ken'ichi

Ken'ichi watches the tengu as he tells his tale, trying to read his expressions and body language to get more of the story.

The dwarf gestured at Ken'ichi and smirked as he cracked wise. "I don't suppose he's one of the ones we needed to find."
Perform(comedy): 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16
| GM Blazej |
The tengu groans as the commentary forces his focuses on the party. "First my weapon jams and now I'm getting my getting my feathers pulled out of the fire again. I owe you all."
"I always hated oozes."
"If you haven't found them yet, head out, but be careful. This thing is hard to see among all this molting plant life. If you see it be careful, most oozes are easy to keep at a rage once you spot them, but this thing fights even better, I don't think it ever missed with that toxic spittle."
Between the bits he was able to share and the way he is moving, both of you can get an accurate read on the direction.
That before you find a set of ruins surrounded by ample vegetation and hear another voice call out from within. "Bless us. Finally some favorable winds blow our way! Watch out to you all. This beast is keeping the sails down low and has us pinned in here. It hides in the plants like some mutinous wretch."

Both Logan and Benu are able to spot it even from a long distance. A small creature covered in plant across a ichorous sickly form. It hasn't seemed to have detected you yet, although that is hard to tell. But the party has a chance to move and open up this combat.

* All green areas on the map are thick vegetation, not enough to slow movement, but does offer concealment to things more than 10 feet away in it.[/ooc
* Only Benu and Logan can see the creature. You can spend a move action to make the DC 16 Perception check to spot it before it acts (-1 penalty per 10 feet of distance).
* The Pathfinders in the building are able and willing to help. You can gain any non boosted benefit of an aid token this combat.
* From tracking it, you were aware of it having an sickening ray of acid it can fire at a range of 60 ft in addition to knowing about the difficult in spotting it in plant life.
Logan Hammerbammer

Logan spotted the ooze and noticed that others were having a problem finding it as well, so since there was no point on sneaking up on it, he let the arrow fly in its direction.
Distance Stabbing: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 61d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
"Oof. Well look at my arrow. It's a little closer to where it stuck."
| GM Blazej |
A note that most of you both get your surprise round action and a full turn for the first round of combat. Only Logan and Ken'ichi are not taking their full turn yet.
Bahen Dayendrati

Bahen moves forward and draws his shield towards where Benu said the thing was. surprise round action
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
His hackles raised by knowing an enemy is out there, he's overcome and begins speaking in tongues.
He begins speaking another few words.
"Ak Styg om te!" and the greasy, infernal blessing of hell rises up on the party. [ooc]Bahen casts bless
As a surprise round, he moves forward. Move action was to look for the ooze, standard action cast bless. "Bless fills your allies with courage. Each ally gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects." Since it's a 50 ft burst, I believe everyone is affected by it, except perhaps the spirtualist's phantom.
Ken'ichi
|
Assuming that means that I only get a single action for the first round. NM. I just opened my eyes and looked closer. :p
Ken'ichi tries to spot the slime, using his allies aid to track it down. As he does so, he moves forward slowly, hand on the hilt of his katana, ready to draw at a moment's notice.
Standard Action: Move forward 20 ft.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
I'm assuming that my bonus for spotting invisible creatures doesn't apply to stealthed creatures. If it does, then add +2 to the roll.
Bedlam Benu

Oh yeah, I forgot round 1.
Benu gives Andoletta's Blessing to Bellius and then continues moving up behind Bahen.

Unable to get a solid vision on the camouflaged creature Bellius closes the distance and readies to take a shot once the creature appears.
It doesn't take more than a moment as plantlife in question shudders as this pile of rolling slime quivers and turns as it takes notice of the party's approach. Torn and uprooted plantlife cover the creatures surface as it undulates for a moment and launches a caustic spray at Bahen getting a direct hit of painful acid.

Ifzari arrives in the house where are the pathfinders. Dhavak comes through the wall.
Well now you have to come to take down this creature with us. Are you pathfinders or cowards?

The Pathfinders in the building are able and willing to help. You can gain any non boosted benefit of an aid token this combat.
The outburst rattles all the tengu Pathfinders, but also confuses them significantly as they were all waiting to help on command.
"Well, you could have told us your group was ready for our assistance from a distance, but I will take that as your signal then."
Two others move out while the third gives a stream of advice on how to take down the ooze.
Timely Inspiration from Aid Token has been activated.
Bellius leverages the inspiration and after closing the distance takes another shot at the ooze. He lands a solid hit that tears off a chunk of the creature.

The latest arrow from Bellius just barely misses the quivering mound as it shifts about in reaction to the vast amount of movement surrounding it.
Bahen is able to move up to a position to enter melee next round without blocking Logan's next shot.
The haggard and beaten Pathfinder party looks upon Ifzari with a general quizzical look but continue their offering their aid from a safe distance with a minor amount of banter in Tengu.
"I suggest you keep such commentary to yourself, we have no idea what they went through to bring them here. Be thankful for their aid despite how they deliver it."
By instinct the Ooze shifts around as creatures surround it and it fires another blast of spittle at Logan as it dives back into the plant life.

Now that he had a clear shot, he spent a little extra time studying the ooze before letting another arrow fly.

Combat Over
The tengu keep their weapons ready for a moment before they are certain the combat is over.
The three all give their thanks for the assistance.
"Your skills with the bow is impressive," states the archer among them. "I would appreciate the chance to train with you, once this all passes."[b]
[b]"Yeah. Yeah. I was feeling like I was walking the plank there for a minute. I'll be looking forward to being able to return the favor someday."
The third gives a low bow stating, "I would like to thank each of you. I wish I could have contributed more, I will take what you have done today as points I need to match in my own martial training exercises."
Bellius Vulso
|
Bellius approaches, silently cursing himself for not seeing the enemy and for missing that final shot. At 30 feet out, you should be able to hit a bulls-eye every time. Lucky you're traveling with strong fighters. He looks happy but uncomfortable with the praise for the group's archers from the first tengu, muttering something about still having a lot of practice to do himself.
Realizing he's being unsocial, he speaks up, "Just happy we got out of that mostly in one piece." The young Taldan continues with a grimace. "That was a nasty enemy. Are you able to travel, or do you need further assistance?"
Bedlam Benu

After everyone gathers together Benu heals everyone again since it appears that a few still had nagging injuries. "It was no trouble. Do you know of any other Pathfinders who haven't made it to the meeting place yet?"

Ken'ichi returns the bow "No thanks are necessary. We only do what is neccesary. This venture would be over before it began if we left Pathfinders behind."

The nod with agreement on the matter of not leaving others behind.
"With that healing we should be able to make the trip ourselves to the meeting point. Once there we should be able to better prepare ourselves for the final assault. On the matter of groups, we did see sign of another group being hunted by some other creature, but we weren't able to follow given our own issues with this unusual garden ooze."
"We saw various webs on the trail, but I couldn't investigate to tell what kind of spider created them, if it was a spider at all."

Part 2
You find one of the Pathfinders, but far less lucky than the previous ones. He is dead for a few minutes and strung up to a tree with strands of thick webbing. He seems to have suffered wounds from bites and claws.
Make a Heal, Appraise, or Knowledge (dungeoneering) check to find out more about what did this

Bellius wishes the tengu safe passage through the woods, and then turns his attention to tracking the other group of Pathfinders. He checks both the ground and surrounding plant life for signs of their passage (Probably not too successfully!)
The young Taldan frowns as he sees the dead Pathfinder suspended in the trees. "Poor bastard," he mutters to himself, covering his mouth with a cloth to cut the smell of death, "now what in Golarion did this to you?" He studies the scene carefully, trying to recall any stories he's heard of creatures that hunt and kill this way.

Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Heal: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Logan set out after everyone, but was too distracted cleaning off the ooze's attack and griping to be much use in navigation. "You know what I like most about oozes? Nothing."
| GM Blazej |
Bellius identifies the wounds to be from an ettercap, a type of abberation with both the most general form of a humanoid, but the features of a spider. They can create webs that can ensnare or entangle their target, but this warrior seems to have been killed by bite wounds and a pair of ripping claws.
Moving to follow the tracks they become much fresher, about a minute ahead, but after that you stop making progress. The creature seems to have picked up the pace in response to your presense and has no intent to let your groups unite. You will need to move quickly or furtively to close the distance.
Make either a Climb, Stealth, or Acrobatics check to keep pace.

The party moves quickly and overtakes the lingering monster. They find it fighting the three other Pathfinders. One unconscious while the other two are fighting with sling and dagger. The creature itself is a horrendous creature with the heavy bulging purple humanoid body and the mandibles of a spider on its face. At the end of its arms are a pair of long sickle-like claws.
"Ah, the cavalry has arrived just in time." Says the dagger wielding gnome. He has already take a few slashes and is another attack from being brought down low. "Watch out for this things teeth, my body has been slow on the draw ever after taking a hit from him."

Ken'ichi: Well you had a string of good rules for a bit passing on two portions of the tracking and chase yourself.
It wasn't Benu's turn yet, but the blessing can apply to the enxt turn unless Benu has any objection.
The creature dodges out of the way of Ken'ichi's blade straight into Bahen's spear thrust. It cries out in pain as it turns to face the interlopers with twitching mandibles, words crawling out the maw, "Pity. I thought I would have more time to finish this before facing you. No bother, just a larger meal for me."
It brings down both claws on the pair of Pathfinders that just attacked it. Both are blocked by blade and spear, but it lunges forward to deal a light bite against Bahen.
