I will assume that Eorsten grabbed his weapon and stood, getting shunted to the square I placed him in. He will act in normal initiative order.
Petrok: I realized you may not have dropped unconscious due to Feats. Since you are in a dire situation, I am placing you into Delay, to act with the next block of characters. With Diehard and Nimble Moves you could remain conscious and 5-foot step away in the difficult terrain. But pretty much every other option is a risk I would rather you weigh. If you don't act by this time tomorrow I will bot something, so your turn isn't lost/wasted.
Dark Claw again bites the remaining blue duergar.
Botting: Elenial 5-foot steps out of the rubble and unleashes several arrows at the duergar speaking nonsense.
Attack, PBS, RS: 1d20 + 12 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 12 + 1 - 2 = 20

Petrok into Delay.
Having just been bitten the blue duergar swings his large waraxe at Dark Claw!

I usually try to hold back a bit, but since there seems to be a bit of a 'let's get this over with' mentality...
Roni takes a quick step aside to avoid blows from the rank-and-file.
""I don't know how long you've lived Ironwhip, or how many times you've cheated death -" Roni takes a deep breath, tugging on his glove as the air crackles with power quite unlike what was seen before. A snap, a spark, and blue, all consuming flames surround the the priest.
5ft step. Touchy provides me cover vs Blue so he doesn't get an AoO for the blast. Boss probably gets partial cover from Petrok/Elenial. Move action to gather power, taking 2 burn to make this a Blue Flame blast burning, and empowered.
vs touch, PBS: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 13 + 1 = 23
Dmg, PBS: 8d6 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 1, 4, 3, 1, 5) + 9 + 1 = 34 x 1.5 -> using up the lucky number 1 for +2 dmg,
For a total of 36 x 1.5 = 54 dmg, DC 20 ref save or catch fire.
"- but not anymore."
Aaand now just hoping it didn't cast prot from fire or anything while underground >.>

![]() |

ok Petrok started the combat with 44 of 45 hp.. assuming I made the reflex save on the first rock shunting from the duergar’s body effect I count a total of 50 dmg. Done 12 from hammer strike 9 from rocks and 29 from the neg energy? That means Petrok would have been at -51hp not neg -52? Correct? Anyway, using my boon to reverse the effect would actually heal all dmg anyway correct? (The 29 hp dmg would turn to 29 hp healing.. bringing me up to full hp (took -12 from hammer and 9 from rocks already down 1hp)? Is this correct am I getting anything wrong? If I’m at full hp Petrok steps back with a 5’ step and uses a standard action to call lighting down on the dude that just hit me DC:16 1/2 dmg. lightening: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6) = 17

Pretty sure Eorsten's first swing will finish off the duergar
concentration to cast defensively (DC 17): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Touchy turns his attention to the leader of this group of Duergar, giving Ironwhip the stink eye!
5' step, then using his Malign Eye on Chergin Ironwhip

![]() |

Touchy steps back and gives the side-eye to ol' Ironwhip.
Touchy, your link to Malign Eye says it's a (Su) ability. That shouldn't require a defensive cast, unless I'm missing something?
Eorsten obliterates the remaining blue duergar flunky.
Seriously, the guy had 2hp remaining, and Eorsten just did 3x it's full HP in damage.
Roni unleashes an inferno the heat of which brings tears to the eyes of everyone nearby. When the blast clears... Ironwhip is still standing, if only barely.
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 2 + 2 = 22
Petrok, appearing rather invigorated after Ironwhip's last hit (much to his confusion) steps back and calls down a strike of lightning.
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 + 2 = 10
Leaving Ironwhip unconscious.

Out of initiative. Just a couple things to wrap up left. One being the big thing for the scenario. Primary prestige and whatnot.
From one of the small prison cells to the east a small voice calls out "Help! Can you please let me out?"

![]() |

Hmm... for some reason I thought it was spell-like.... though I listed as Su too... ah well! Moot now.
Yay for blasting!
"Well, I don't think we're gonna get invited back." He exclaims, as he says a quick prayer to heal his own wounds.
CMW on Touchy: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (6, 6) + 5 = 17
The then goes over to give Eorsten a slap on the buttocks, healing him as well.
CLW on Eorsten: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

![]() |

Eorsten is finished healing his wounds and focuses his ability to discern the evil in the strange creature as he approaches him "Hello my name is Eorsten, paladin of Iomede and agent of the Pathfinder society, who you are and why are you locked in"

![]() |

The creature responds in accented Common. "My name is Swareti. I'm from a wayang village not too far from here. I and a lot of my village were captured and brought here as slaves. Please! Can you undo these manacles and let me go?"
Everyone: As we are out of initiative, I will try to respond to posts as often as I am able.

![]() |

Touchy will go over to inspect the downed Ironwhip fellow, to make sure he is not fast healing or something.
He will remove whatever magic he can detect, just in case... then proceed to making sure he doesn't bother anyone again, ever, while the paladin is distracted with the prisoners.
Using a little OOC knowledge here, for brevity
Of course, his first attempt to knife the man quietly, has his blade skitter of the duergar's rock hard skin. With a frown, he then tries to smash his head with a hammer... which also just sort of bounces off.
Finally, he just kind of grins evily, and casually just sits on the man's face, waiting for him to suffocate while he examines the items he confiscated.
"What? Some places you have to pay extra for this sort of treatment." He says, if confronted about it.

![]() |

Several items radiate from magical effects that fade after several rounds or minutes... or hours.
Touchy also finds a mwk heavy steel shield, a key ring, and an onyx gem.
As Touchy snuffs out the last of Ironwhip's life with a... creative coup de grace.

![]() |

That's fine you'll make the 'DC Chronicle Sheet' Spellcraft check after the scenario!

![]() |

Dark Claw does not have Bruca's social graces, so will inspect the cells not containing the prisoner.

![]() |

The other prison cell is empty. No inhabitants or items of note.

![]() |

What is the decision for freeing the wayang slave? Also, there is a door on the opposite side of the temple from the prison cells.

![]() |

"Personally, I vote for FREEDOOOOM for the prisoner(s)."
Roni is already trying to break the locks if nobody attempts to stop him and/or talk him out of it.

![]() |

The key that Touchy provided opens the door, and the key that Roni had already recovered from the forge opens the manacles.
Having been freed, the wayang adresses Roni, “Thank you, thank you, I cannot thank you enough for defeating that horrible man. He sent a raiding party to my village to capture and enslave. He and that Mueritt force us to work day and night, until we are too tired and weak. They say if we don’t keep up, they will sacrifice us to their god. So many people have already been taken away, and they never return. I collapsed and woke up here, chained to the wall.”

![]() |

Alright, feels like things have taken a sharp drop-off since last week. Please let me know two things:
1) if you would like to continue roleplaying out the remainder of the scenario?
2) whether you would like to give the Wayang the manacle key you have, so he can try to free the slaves (needed for reporting/chronicles)?
If majority are done (or don't reply) I will issue chronicles in the next few days.
As for the wayang, I will go with majority vote of those that actually weigh in, otherwise I'll roll a d2 and go with that if absolutely no one weighs in.

![]() |

ill help to free your comrades

![]() |

correct, have not found the Sky Key yet. You're welcome to search for it. I was gonna narrate it if people have already dropped off.

![]() |

I sorta thought I was already freeing the slaves? And sorry, had totally forgotten about any and all sky key components >.>
Roni is obviously going to help the Wayang with freeing prisoners, and tells him that they are trying to find a sort of a key, asking if the wayang(s) would help them after being freed.
Likewise, Roni asks Tanbaru (that was the name of the mask, right?) how he feels now that Ironwhip is dead, and is there anything else he can do to help him un-corrupt himself?

![]() |

Well, there's the gate on the north side of the room, did we look there?
Touchy wanders over to the barred off area on the opposite side of the room from the prisoners, to see if there's anything interesting in there... or if one of the keys will move the bars enough to get in.
And hey, I promised to unblind the water guy on the way out of here... not that Touchy's always a dwarf of his word, mind you... but seems simple enough, once we're back across safely.
Especially given it gained a new undead buddy just as we came in

![]() |

After the exhausting fight, Petrok hardly seems interested in his mission. I need to reflect on why I do this again? Why do I play a constant game of fetch for people who care little if I live or die?.. Petrok is conspicuously quiet as he contemplates..

![]() |

wayang: "Oh no no no! There are too many duergar here! I couldn't accept your help. That's too many duergar even for mighty heroes like you! If only I could have the key to the manacles. They don't seem to be able to tell us wayangs apart. I could probably slip back in among the slaves while wearing unlocked manacles. And, when the duergar turn their back, I can unlock the manacles of the other slaves! Once free we could run for freedom! Us wayangs should be able to use our natural stealthiness to sneak away, while the others take advantage of how slow the duergar are."
You still have the option to help, but he assures you: it's dangerous.
Tanbaru to Roni: "Well, uh, now that they're gone: I guess I'd like to do more good things. Or, at least, less bad things. Maybe I could come with you guys and help you all?"
Touchy uses one of the keys found on Ironwhip's corpse to open the door/grate to the north.

![]() |

"Here's the key. Get yourself ready - we'll assist you after we're done searching through this area. With Tanbaru's knowledge of this place, we'll probably do just fine."

![]() |

"As paladin of Iomede god of freedom and justice in this land and as a faithful servant of the silver crusade I will never hide from danger leaving the innocent in danger for fear of danger. When you are ready we will be the shield that protects you and the sword that unlocks your chains"

![]() |

Touchy snorts at Roni's suggestion.
"You go with him, you'll just get 'em all killed." He says. "One of 'em can sneak around unnoticed. If you were paying attention... we're not so good at that."
"And besides!" He adds with a cheerful grin. "This thing here looks properly swanky. Maybe its the key!"
He examines the area quickly, in case there are other dangers, then studies the strange device (Using detect magic), then snags it if it looks safe to do so!
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

![]() |

Wayang: "Uh, okay. If you guys really want to help you could fight some of the guards, make a lot of noise, you could draw out the guards as a distraction. That might make it easier for more of us slaves to slip away."
Anyone that wants to participate in this plan can opt-in (I'm assuming Roni and Eorsten plan to participate), but it is not required.

![]() |

![]() |

Considering Roni's face wants to do more good, and his pledge to the Liberty's Edge presses him to assist and free slaves, and the fact that if the Wayang's could just sneak around, they could have left already - Roni will assist him in freeing the rest of the captives, though he agrees that maybe he could create a diversion so as to not mess up their sneaky sneaky operation.
Roni also asks if the Wayang would be interested in joining Liberty's Edge afterwards, to fight against oppression and slavery all around golarion!

![]() |

Roni: well, they've never had the key before, so that will help. :)
"Alright, if you're really willing to help. Like I said, it's dangerous. There are a lot of duergar slaves. But if they're fighting you, they'll be chasing after less slaves, so more might go free!"
...
"Well, we're all still kind of stuck here in the tapestry, but we can try to do our best to prevent slavers from taking us again!"
As Touchy picks up the Sky Key piece from the desk thick purple smoke billows into the room through holes in the desk that were previously covered by the Sky Key piece. DC25 to notice that "trap"
Touchy Fort, poison: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 2 = 21
But Touchy, despite inhaling quite the whiff, seems to be unaffected by it. And could safely leave the room and shut the "door", it's only really enough to effect 10' around the desk.
Everyone: You have the Sky Key piece. Need to know who is helping out with the rescue op. Otherwise everyone else can leave through the waterfall (but it appears to be a ~60' drop onto rocks), or back the way they came in.

![]() |

Touchy coughs a little from the fumes, but doesn't stick around to close the bars... them not being the best at holding gasses at bay, and instead just moves away, pondering the strange artifact.
"Don't look at me." He mutters, as the rest seem to want to run off and get themselves killed.
I'll stay out of it. The wayang seemed to have it all in hand, anything we do seems unnecessary self aggrandizing.
"Seems like just leaving this place will be enough of a commotion. No reason to make a day of it." He adds.
walking back out, might kill 2 birds

![]() |

Not enough to knock anyone out, so anyone that participates should be able to escape intact. Thanks to your efforts, Swareti is able to rescue way more slaves than he would have been able to otherwise!
After escaping from the duergar fortress you are able to make your way back to your planar eddies without issue. Tanbaru is able to make it back through remaining a part of Roni's face (and separate once back on the material plane).
When the you return to the Grand Lodge, you find Aram Zey staring at the tapestry, deep in thought. The Master of Spells asks you to give a quick summary of your discoveries and any other important information that you learned on your adventure inside the Hao Jin Tapestry.
After about 5 seconds of listening to you set up your story he starts interrupting and asking very pointed questions to get short answers for the details he is curious about. "Did you meet the dwarf clan?"..."what happened to them?"..."did you get the Sky Key?"
After you finish your hastened report Aram Zey says:
“The transformation of Naldak’s descendants into duergar was an unexpected and unfortunate development. However what matters is that you recovered another piece of the Sky Key. You successfully completed your mission.” The Master of Spells returns his attention to the tapestry. After a few moments, he barks, “Why are you still standing around? Do you want an award for doing your jobs?”
In the following days, the Grand Lodge buzzes with excitement over your discovery of another piece of the Sky Key. The story of your deeds grows out of proportion, and several junior Pathfinder agents ask you to tell tales of how you defeated thousands of duergar without sustaining a single scratch.
That wraps up the scenario. Everyone got full prestige. I will contact the convention personnel to update the checkbox reporting. I will try to have chronicles up by tomorrow. Thursday at the latest.
I hope you all had fun! I enjoyed running for you all!

![]() |

Dark claw has vanished.
Bruca shows up at the meeting: "Sorry, but I had to arrange for one of my caravans to meet us there. Always a good sales opportunity in the mountains. What, you've left and returned, how unfortunate."

![]() |

Petrok confused by all the machinations of the Wayang and even his own superiors decides to opt out of the rescue and returns back through the water fall using his potion of levitate if necessary to prevent injury ..
