"I know that these items radiate magic, but I don't know their purpose." Elenial whispers.
Petrok Kaznikh |
Praying to the spirits for guidance each time, Petrok tries to identify the scabbard 1st then the wand spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 1 = 25 spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 = 18 the scabbard will enchant a weapon for a short period each day, since my weapon is not enchanted I could use it... unless another more worthy warrior claims it. Petrok picks up the wand this summons a rain of earth to fall on one’s oppents .. it makes the area difficult to maneuver in for a time after..
Touchy |
"What she's decribing." Touchy says. "Sure sound a lot like duergar. But was the fell influence of Droskar during the quest for Sky that brought those about... and that over centuries. Suppose its possible the dwarves here got so corrupted in the past three hundred years... but there usually needs to be a questionable outside influence... and I just got here!"
The lascivious grin returns to his face.

GM.BastardBard |
So, what're you doing, gang?
Petrok Kaznikh |
GM is there some kind of check we can make to identify the creature we're talking to? Also the town near us...is it apparently inhabited?
Petrok clears his throat, Noble creature pray tell what is your duty here, why do you stand sentinel? Do you guard the town nearby? Are there citizens there we can talk to before heading into the mountains?
GM.BastardBard |
It is a very... unique creature. You are currently in Naldak's point, the only village within sight. The village is bereft of all life, except for the creature you have been talking to.
"My master was the last of the Naldak's Point dwarves. He was grief-stricken over the loss of his house. When he passed he tasked me with telling the tragedy of it all. Which I have already told you what I know."
Petrok Kaznikh |

The creature shrugs.
"Put those items to good use, I suppose. Honor the memory of the true dwarves of Naldak's Point?"
Petrok Kaznikh |
Petrok looks at the path into the hills shrugs his shoulders and looks to the others...Seems our Path is clear..Elenial, will you guide us? Petrok takes position 3rd in line as we march down the trail. Behind the Paladin and Elenial but close enough to heal them or engage any enemies as needed.
Elenial Windwalker |
"Thank you for your help, noble creature." Elenial says before heading towards the village.

Petrok Kaznikh |
Petrok hands the wand of Stone Call to the Ranger Elenial, I don't know how the spell attached this wand works...perhaps you will... Elenial now has the wand of Stone Call...Petrok tells her the command word he gathered after studying the wand.
Roni the Flame Alchemist |
"Keep your eyes open, though. There's clearly been someone else here recently, in addition to us, her and the dwarves that left. They could still be around."
"We should probably send the scout in first, and then search the remains of the village. Whe- Where'd the elf go?"
GM.BastardBard |
Anything more to be gained from the village has already been given to you based on the Perception checks I made for the group as you entered the village.
GM.BastardBard |
It looks to be about a ten minute walk to the nearest edge of the base of the mountain.
eorsten |
Bruca and me on front of march but elenial should go 20 or 50 mts ahead scouting
GM.BastardBard |
There is nothing else to be found in the village. No items of note. None left whole anyway. Roni sees more of the details he noticed on the first pass through the village.
The group takes the overgrown eastern path. After travelling for about 11 minutes...
The mountain reaches overhead, covered in lush trees and white mist. As warm winds whip around the mount’s rises, wisps of cloud separate from the thick cover and float away. A brief plateau about halfway up the mountain features a sheer cliff, otherwise inscrutable from a distance.
The roar of the waterfall overhead explains the thick mist that covers much of the mountain. The vapors become gray clouds as they rise in altitude, but near the base of the mountain they are white wisps rolling out from the pool. The pool’s water is clear and deep, with the spill forcing white bubbles back to a rippling surface. Deep into the pool, away from the frothy cascade, a glint of gold beckons the eye.
The rocks in the water are wet. The river is flowing swiftly. As another note, the "waterfall" shown on the map is actually a flat-ish part of the river, it is just "rapids" of rushing water.
The waterfall that falls off of the mountain face is off the map to the right about 30 ft
Petrok Kaznikh |
Petrok motions the others to follow, Come now..there's nothing left for us here..let's proceed.. Dark Claw has taken the lead. We should catch-up.
Roni the Flame Alchemist |
"That looks somewhat dangerous, crossing the river. Elenial, do you plan to scout ahead, or want me to? I can cross the river with relative safety. Probably. Not IN the water, though."
Roni moves up a bit.
"Water looks clear enough. Think we should get a bird's eye view?."
eorsten |
Eorsten does not like anything when things are too tame and calm, nature is movement and evolution so he concentrates his power in the water trying to look for some kind of aura or subterfuge.
Let's be careful I think it's all too quiet

Petrok Kaznikh |
Petrok walks near the edge of the pool...and looks at the area (including the water carefully)...perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Pretty place...but nothing worth stopping for ..let's move on.
GM.BastardBard |
Moved characters up towards pool that were looking into it. Moved Elenial and Roni closer as they discussed crossing. Dark Claw moved up (not as far) to not be left behind by the group.
As the party party approaches the pool, motion under the surface draws their attention!

Now that initiative has started I will be holding you to posting your action w/in 24 hours of my calling for it (if everyone takes their turn earlier, I will progress). If you do NOT act in that 24 hours, I will either bot you, or move you into Delay. If your tagline is not up to date, and you don't have relevant information on your profile page of your character (attack/damage stats, spells prepared, etc.) I will NOT bot you, and you will be placed into delay, which can place a lot of pressure on your teammates. So, please update taglines and profiles with current info (that also allows me to double check your stuff throughout combat, even if you know it all) so that these combats and this scenario move smoothly.(and maybe I can add more flavor for your enjoyment)

Question on terrain: are any of the rocks difficult terrain, does the shore seem shallow enough to move 5 ft in without a swim check? My actions assume favorable answers
Bruca moves up to the shore, drawing his kukri's as he goes, and attacks:
Masterwork cold iron kukri: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 161d4 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 1 = 12 (Additional plus one is due to only person threatening creature)

Be careful my friends i detect four evil auras on water
GM.BastardBard |
The stones are not difficult terrain, but they are rather slippery. The pond drops off suddenly at the shore. Any squares that are ~1/2 stone should be okay, but if it is mostly water, that will require a swim check, or an attempt to jump over the water. I'll say that the square that Dark Claw is in is okay for now.
Dark Claw moves up and slashes at the water. However, his foe is at the bottom of the pond 15ft below the surface. if the distance from the surface would have changed your action, let me know

Can I see the surface from where I am now, or are the rocks big/high enough that they block my view? If Roni can see the surface, he readies an attack:
The air crackles and shimmers around Roni as he focuses his power.
"Evil? I don't see anything... Yet. But I'm ready for when I do. Don't get pulled into the water! Move back from the shoreline!"
Move action to gather power, ready action: If have a line of fire to an enemy (not under water)

DC 19 ref save or catch fire. If they catch fire, 1d6 dmg each round until the fire is extinguished.
GM.BastardBard |
Roni is on one of the rocks, so he should have good line of sight across the surface.
The glittery treasure disappears from the bottom of the pool, and a few seconds later a man with luminous skin, flowing white hair, and striking blue eyes surfaces just above it...
Roni's Readied action goes off. Hits, but no bonus from Point-Blank Shot
Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
... this man is then hit with a fire blast from Roni, and catches on fire. As the creature regains its bearings it sets its sights on Eorsten and Touchy on the nearest shore, and casts a spell.
Eorsten: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Touchy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25+2 vs poisons, spells, SLAs
A large 10 foot diameter orb of water coalesces into existences around Erosten and Touchy. In a rare moment for Touchy, he decides he would not like to get wet, and jumps from the encircling water. Character moved to adjacent square. May pick another from that corner, if you would like.
Damage(NL): 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
Eorsten: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Eorsten takes 8 points of non-lethal damage, and has been engulfed by the orb. Gains cover against attacks from outside the orb, and is considered entangled. You may make a Reflex save on your turn to attempt to escape (you may also choose to remain in the orb, if you wish).

Elenial tells Barry to defend her in case one of the aquatic creatures decides to get out of the water and close to her.
Then she moves closer to the pond, up to one of the rocks and shoots an arrow at the one which just appeared at the surface and cast a spell.
Arrow: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21

Roni the Flame Alchemist |
Oh! As long as it's on fire, I get +2 ab against it, +2 cl vs SR, and +2 DC to my abilities against him. In addition, the fire burns away any resistance he might have - When you roll the D6 for him to take burning damage, the target's fire resistance is lowered by the amount rolled from the dice (without applying the resistance for this roll).
This reduction lasts 4 rounds and stacks with itself.
GM.BastardBard |
Thank you for that, Roni. Kineticist infusions can get crazy, I had only started going through all that you're capable of.
Elenial, does your character sheet show stats with Point-Blank Shot active? Trying to figure out the last +1 of attack/damage with the bow. As the enemy is currently out of Point Blank Range. I'll mark it down as what you said, though.

Oo... good joke!
"Hey, its rude not to at least ask first!" Touchy shouts, at the creature in the water.
But then his eyes are drawn to the other four things moving around, and he realizes they are not the same.
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
I'd like to know the most important piece of information... as it will let us know how precarious our situation is at the moment.
That being the rider on their melee attacks (special attacks?)
After that, resistances and DR type stuff, if there's more knowledge to be known.
He looks a little worried, once he realizes what he's looking at.
He says a quick prayer to Calistria, ending with a sweeping gesture with one hand, directed at the creature that just cast the spell at them.
Casting Blindness on the fellow that cast the aqueous orb. DC 20 fort negates.
He then backs away, pulling out his whip.
GM.BastardBard |
Correction to creature damage. Elenial, you struck it solidly, but it appears that your arrow had trouble piercing the creature's flesh
Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
The four other creatures make their way from the bottom of the pond to the surface. One of these creatures green surfaces right next to Dark Claw and attacks with a greataxe!
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Damage: 1d12 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20+1 Negative Level
A creature with temporary negative levels receives a new saving throw to remove the negative level each day. The DC of this save is the same as the effect that caused the negative levels.
Another of the creatures red surfaces right next to Eorsten, and attempts to strike Eorsten through the orb of water!
Attack against cover: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17 MISS!
Damage: 1d12 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Ref DC 19 for half damage, Ref DC 20 to avoid catching fire (DC 21 and 22 for the burning one)
Despite the description, it's an AoE "spell" and doesn't require a line of sight, just line of effect. Like fireball.
