Uninvited Guests at the Execution - Dalinar, Pon, Prosper, Rush & Wint

Dalinar, Pon, Prosper, Rush and Wint rush to the execution site!

Aibretta is dangling from a lamppost by her manacled hands. Her body hangs so her feet nearly touch the ground, her nose bleeding badly and fresh bruises rising all over her face. Two senior Aeon Guard cadets—particularly cruel members of the organization—stand near Aibretta, taclashes at the ready, and a dozen colonists stand around watching in numb horror.

Meanwhile two regular Aeon Guard Cadets stand near Jellik. One has a gun casually pointed at his head, while the other reads from a prepared document. “Colonists of Nakondis, be aware today that two rebels face justice. Jellik Fulson is here on charges of sabotage and the foul murder of four aeon guards. His wife, Aibretta --”

“Ex-wife!” Aibretta shouts before getting punched in the face by one of the two guards upon her.

“--Fullson, is charged with aiding, abetting, and harbouring him. Her sentence, to be carried out immediately, is 50 slow lashes. This is what happens to the families of traitors who rebel against the Azlanti Empire that comforts and protects you. We will kill them, and then we kill you.”

Then the cadet reading nods, and one of the senior cadets grabs Aibretta’s jaw, forcibly opening it, showing Aibretta’s sharp little tusks. “In addition, it has come to our attention that this colonist’s blood is sullied -- she’s not even human. So putting her down will be a mercy.” The person reading smiles. “Proceed with the sentence.”

One of the cadets lifts his whip, and Aibretta screams defiantly, ”We’d do it agai -- Aaaaaaagh!" Whatever else she might have said is lost as the whip hits her.

Both of the cadets on Jellik hold him down as he struggles, trying to reach his ex-wife.

Hobgar Liberation - Minos and Spec

With the pulse gun that had been liberated from the Azlanti drones, and Minos as back up, Spec flies in to try to short out the hobgar cage!

A sturdy metal pole rises 30 feet above the settlement, its top nearly obscured by fog. A wide metal cage with an angled opening no wider than a human fist sits on top of the pole. The wire mesh of the cage crackles with electricity. A small control box rests right underneath a metal plate at the bottom of the cage. Several tiny, furry creatures leap about inside the cage, rattling the electrified mesh and hooting in distress.

“Oooga-chaka, oooga-oooga-chaka!”

This trap attracts hobgars from throughout the settlement, who climb the pole to investigate the charged mesh cage and become trapped inside. Normally, the colonists empty the cage once it has trapped six or eight hobgars, but with the Azlanti occupation, this hasn't been a priority. A dozen hobgars are currently squeezed into the cage, frustrated and angry. The hobgars occasionally launch their energy rays at creatures they see, but the pole is too tall for the rays to reach anyone on the ground.

Please note what you are doing in rounds. Assume that it will take 2 rounds to make it to the other location.

Not so long ago Dalinar was the type of person who would've balked at the idea that these colonists were worth as much as he. Pon's statements may not have meant exactly that but Dalinar took them that way. He tries very hard to banish those demons but worries every waking moment that they will return stronger. These roiling emotions put him in a bad place.

The soldiers outing Aibretta as a half-orc and claiming that made her less than them would've made him very angry. If it were possible for him to be any madder, or if he had even heard it over the rage in his head. Seeing the former couple chained up for a beating sent him completely over the edge. By the time the Azlanti had begun speaking about Aibretta's heritage Dalinar was long gone. All he could see was the soldier with the whip. All he could feel was the power of creation, and more prominently, destruction coursing through him. As he felt his attunement rising his armor flared even brighter and he rushed at the soldier before attempting to relieve him of his whip arm.

Pon, now surrounded by a crowd of colonists, points toward the oncoming squad of Azlanti, "More Azlanti are coming!" He then takes that opportunity to hobble away and hide.
Stealth: 1d20 + 4 - 3 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 3 = 15

Pon hobbles behind the closest module, leans heavily against it and slides down to a sitting position. He lets go of the weapons he is holding as he puts his hands to his wound and applies pressure. Wincing at the pain and panting from everything following this he thinks to himself, I hate this planet. This is why I live alone.

Prosper throws the evil knife down (covering it with his foot to stop any of the riled up colonists for thinking of picking it up) and returns to using his rifle. He sends a flare arcing over the heads of Dalinar and Minos to try to distract the green azlanti even further.

But the flare fires far over everyone's heads instead.

Dalinar doesn't just look badass, he feels it. He had been doing so so at best in the Teapot crew's previous fights but here stopping the Azlantis from actively executing someone he feels his full potential is coming to fore.

Dalinar moves towards the sound of the soldier screaming. He finds himself in the midst of the hobgars and a pair of cadets. His blood cries out for him to go nova but he holds back, he doesn't want to catch any of the colonists in the blast. He settles for attacking one of the soldiers with Stag Render.

With all the holes that have been chewed in the Azlanti's armor, and the flank bonus from the helpful colonists, Dalinar's mighty blow hits!

And I'm going to hand-waive the rest of this combat, because one Azlanti against the rest of you doesn't stand a chance!

The last azlanti attempts to run, and is brought down in a wave of colonist clubs!

Whack! Whack! Whack!

COMBAT OVER

While the remaining hobgars much contentedly on Azlant armor, the colonists help you gently pull Aibretta down from the lamppost. She groans, but waves away Jellik's attempts to comfort her.

Leaning on the teenager once again, the woman with the crutch clomps over to you. Clomp, clomp, clomp! When you look at her more closely, you realize that she isn't as old as you previously thought. Just weathered and very battered and in a lot of pain. "I'm Quorsica Arquinn. So you're Aibretta's heroes?" She stares at you with narrowed eyes for a moment. "You'll do. I'm gonna assume that you're going in there." Quorsica points at the barracks. "Spent my time in there and then they brought me out here and beat me to an inch of my life to teach me a lesson. Guess I'm hard to teach!" She grins, showing a mouth with a lot of broken teeth.

"Why don't you rest up, we'll get my son Welldis to heal some of you, and I'll draw you a map of what I remember before you head in there?" Assisted by other colonists, she leans down heavily.

Welldis looks very nervous to be called forth, and stares at the ground instead of meeting your gaze, but becomes interested when seeing your wounds. "Ooh. Nasty. Um, I think I can help?"

Welldis can do two healing spells and one healing touch. Who most needs it?

BEFORE WE HEAD TO THE BARRACKS, IT'S TIME TO LEVEL.

I'm going to level you all up here since we're most of the way through part 2. If there is some small aspect of your character that you want to change, you may do so. So you could shift an envoy improvisation or a spell or... well, tell me and we'll work it out.
Don't forget that you may pick up Azlanti with a point in Culture, and you've had plenty of chances to learn a little already.

House Rule: Solarians get 6 skill points / level.

"Follow me Welldis." Dalinar leads the lad over to Pon, "This man needs you most it seems to me."

As the two emerge from around the corner of the module, Pon holds a hand up, "I am with the crew that has been helping Abrietta-Oh it's you..." Pon trails off as he sees Dalinar. He says nothing in response to Dalinar just gestures at the young man and points him to his wound.

It seems that Pon was in the middle of sewing up his wounds himself. He thankfully accepts the healing of the young man, "Thank you young man. Your talents are a credit to this colony," he says softly with a wince and a smile.

Prosper deftly holsters his rifle (in a way that would have been impossible had he had +0 BAB still), picks up and stows his demon knife, and waves to the others through the mist. "Oh my gosh guys, we did it! Well, to be fair, mostly these colonists did it!" He looks to the nearest colonist that smashed one of the azlanti cadets "You guys swing a mean club, that's for sure." He exchanges high fives with anyone who feels up to it.

He slips through the crowd to Quorsica and grins at Wint's comment. "Yeah, Mysterious Seven. That's us! Aibretta's group must be, like, some other guys." He winks at Wint, before speaking more seriously "Um, anyone else around here hurt? That was a really chaotic fight, and with the mist, y'know, people could mistake each other."

"Oh, and, yeah, we're planning to go as soon as we can." He points to the barracks. "Is Cedona in there still?"

Goraya arranges for food to be brought out for all of you. Wint of course helps her, garnishing all the dishes, and carries out several platters full of smoked fish sandwiches with some sort of vinegared bitter green in lieu of lettuce. While the food is arriving, Quorsica sketches the interior of the barracks. ”My hands are ‘bout the only bones that the damn Azlanti didn’t break.” Quorsica attempts and fails to get into a comfortable position for the task, wincing several times as she draws. “But I’ll show them. Not gonna be a cripple forever, and the next time they show their faces, I’ll be there to whup their emerald asses.”

Meanwhile, an argument between Jellik and Aibretta is steadily growing. “But I did it for the colony,” Jellik insists. ”They get to go on daring missions and help us, why can’t WE help us?”

“Don’t lie to me, Jellik, you did it because you were jealous of them getting all the attention and glory.” Aibretta glares at him. “You wanted to play the hero, and then you got yourself caught!”

“ANYWAYS,” Quorsica says, clearing her throat, and enunciating a bit louder than normal. “Let’s get back to the barracks.” She looks at Prosper. “You should know that Cedona got separated from the rest of us -- early. Those damned Azlant bastards think that androids aren’t fully sentient. But she was brought to the barracks same as me, Madelon, the three Tengridi brothers -- Paolo, Mario, Stefani -- Molly Riverwalker, Yasmi Ashidi, Danib and Cheskit. Basically, everyone who went on the expedition for that god-forsaken ship. So that’s nine prisoners in there.”

She shows you the map that she’s drawn, and then points to each room.

Now you can see that map on SLIDE ONE.

“ROOM ONE. That’s some sort of staging area, where the Azlanti like to muster and make sure their buttons and fancy boots are all polished before going out on assignments and such.” Quorsica pauses. “It’s also the main entrance to the place, and they’ve got some kind of lock on it so it only opens for Azlantis.”

At this point, Jellik rushes up. “That’s what I was working on... A little sabotage on the wiring leading to the main doors. But there’s something I learned while scouting for my sabotage.” He pauses here, and looks hopefully at Aibretta to see if she’s listening, but instead, she’s limped off to Welldis, showing him her injuries.

Jellik sighs. “Look. The cadets come and go freely from the garrison, as the doors there simply open when they approach. But I saw one of the cadets remove her helmet just before entering the garrison, as though she were going off-duty, but the door didn't open for her. She looked at her helmet, tapped it a few times, and put it back on; the door then opened for her.” Jellik taps Pon’s armor. “Now, I can’t be certain, but I suspect that the garrison doors are keyed to open for anyone wearing Azlanti armor.”

"Suggestion: We were able to take out enough Azlanti cadets to get their armor for at least most of us. It would be probable to say we could utilize them as disguises for an infiltration. If not, there should be enough technical skill here to get it to open anyways, but possibly set of an alarm."
