There are a few obvious options here pay with the wine, try to lie and pay with something else cheaper, try to beat it our of him (with a cop present for whatever complication that adds), or walk away and try to find another source. I'm open to other solutions. If I have to votes for an option I will go ahead with that.

"I admits that I seen her lurking about in a nearby building—and that she’s no longer hangin' out with the Tower Girls. In fact, she seemed to be doing her best to hide from 'em. After following the directions:

Natalya’s new hideout has seen better days. Its clapboard sides are dark with mildew and marred by scorch marks. In places fire has gutted portions of the roof’s mosscovered tile shingles, but the building appears to be structurally intact. The building stands near the stark wall of the Seacleft, and scree from several decades of minor rockfalls has piled up along its southern face. The structure was built over a group of collection pools in the city’s early sewers, and when its interior was gutted, the floors collapsed into the septic system below.

Von-Dai, knowing nothing about healing, has no idea he may have contracted some sort of illnes from the man.

One look at Natalya's hideout, however, and he groans. "Seriously? How does a rundown, derelict structure like this exist in Magnimar? I heard nothing about this when I was growing up here. What does the Lord Mayor do all day, sit on his arse and pick his nose?"

Von-Dai rolls his eyes behind the Watch officer's back, and says, "I know not everyone grows up in a nice house, but still. You'd think the city government would put some money into fixing places like this up, if only to keep the crime level under control. Give people decent places to live and meaningful work, and a bad area can quickly become less of a problem area. It's simple civics, honestly."

Upon opening the door.

Part of the ceiling above the entrance has collapsed, revealing an attic crawlspace above; a rickety ladder leads up from the water into the crawlspace. A door stands in the far wall across the sludge pit. A wooden plank balanced between both doors makes a precarious bridge between the two doors.

I'm rolling initiative now for convience this does not mean you have to fight.

A large number of Natalya's crew have followed her to the door.

You feel the situation has escalated significantly. Though Natalya is being friendly and displays no malice she also seems to be taking no chances.

Von-Dai itches to follow and look at whatever it is, but given the tense situation, he realizes doing so might bring this to battle, and he isn't sure they want to do that yet. Hopefully Darjiah would call him or Elendar over so they could study it.

Elendar exhales slightly, glad that Von-Dai has stepped closer to their vulnerable companion. He casually moves closer to Marcus, and whispers, "Reinforcements approach, at least eight. And there are others outside, might have followed us, or were lying in wait." He smiles at the thugs watching them, holding up his empty hands to reassure them that a fight is not imminent, while mentally preparing himself for the inevitably imminent fight. That woman is clearly ensorcelled, he thinks. She's not going to give it up willingly, and could turn on her old friend in an instant.
