I think if we retreat and come and get it tomorrow, I can provide you guys with a bit more protection, with some Mage Armor...And get a bit of flanking in...have a bit of a plan...
Chi is not set up for vermin very well...and not built particularly well, why did I take the charm hex, it was a really good fit for the character, just rubbish on this island...so far...
I'm toying with taking brew potion, so we can create a few CLWs and other stuff, or would you prefer I go with the buff/debuff in combat. I like the brew witch...but would happily take input/advice from you.
Also can anyone make a scroll of CLW, so I can learn the spell? that way I can get a different spell if I get to level.

You won't be on this island forever ;)...
Unless you perish of course. Then you WILL. :D

I don't take it for granted she will make it off the island...but she's gonna damn well try!! She's somewhat frail in comparison to those big hearty fighter types, whom she hides behind... :)

... Would it surprise the group to know I've only ever killed two characters in all of my RPs?
One was a save or die from an Assassin in 3.5, player rolled a 1.
Another was torn apart by a Marilith, but the player wasn't in attendance to see his character die.
I have a reputation for horrid 'we're all going to die' combats that leave the party sorely tested but no deaths. Harder to do in PbP, but i'm getting the hang of it.

Actually, that's a very good reputation to have. For me, that's always been a sign of a good DM.
Nothing better than having a bunch of players saying "Holy S#!+! That was close."

Hey Dan E/Marcus,
I don't know if AK will allow it but in the new Inner Sea Primer book there is Rondelero Duelist fighter archetype, I seem to remember that being appropriate for your character. The first two changes from the archetype are:
Buckler Bash (Ex): At 2nd level, a rondelero can perform a
shield bash with a buckler (use the same damage and critical
modifier as for a light shield). This ability replaces bravery.
Buckler Catch (Ex): At 3rd level, a rondelero can catch his
opponent’s weapon between his buckler and his forearm,
effectively wedging the hafts of polearms and hammers
or the flats of blades. This functions as a disarm combat
maneuver, and the rondelero gains a +4 bonus on the roll.
If the rondelero’s attack fails by 10 or more, he suffers a
–2 penalty to his AC until the start of his next turn. This
ability replaces armor training 1.

Very interesting thanks. I haven't seen this.
I went with Rondelero for background flavour but as per RAW fighting with sword and buckler is just a bit crap. You can't hit things with it and if I'm not going to hit things I want a heavy shield.
So I went sword and spiked light shield / two weapon archtype for marcus figuring that evolved from using a buckler in his mercenary life.
I will need to read the whole thing and if its nifty maybe Alex will let me retcon. If its disarm based though I may have difficulty as Marcus currently doesn't have the int to get combat expertise and the related feats.

NP, AK -
I have been obsessed with reading as much as I can about RPG Superstar lately, so I've been neglecting my PbPs more than I should. FWIW, my apologies.
Bad you ;).
I don't think i'll enter. If I got into top 32 i'd just have to say 'erm, I don't actually have the time to participate in Round 2 so i'll pass...'.

Those who went down do freel free to look in the DM Only tags pre-combat. You were extremely unlucky for many reasons-
No one made the DC20 Survival check to spot predators territory.
No one spotted the lizard's stalking your group.
Then horrible initiative rolls...
And another horrible roll on the lizard's round 1 action (feel free to look at that one too... you'll see the roll I mean.)
But actually, the encounters fairly balanced. Three CR2 creatures.
The book had two shocker lizards and that assumes four 15 point buy characters, I added one more to scale up the encounter for six. I did consider tweaking them very slightly to compensate for the difference between 15 and 20 point buy, but its usually such a minor difference its not worth bothering with. Glad I didn't now!
I hope with the rolls available for you to see you'll see that this was mostly horrible dice rolls, it was far more likely you'd have a round or two to wail on them before something like this happened.

Sorry for the intrusion, but I thought I should point out that the electrical damage done in the initial attack (to Tun'ada, Ambroze and Marcus) is non-lethal damage.
Not that it will likely matter, but you never know! ;)
Cheers
EDIT: I believe this would keep Ambroze in the positive HP (and conscious) but staggered. This will also give Tun'ada a few more HP to work with... maybe? :)
EDIT 2: Ambroze would be at 3HP with 5 non-lethal, meaning still unconscious but not in the negatives (and therefore no need for stabilization rolls). Tun'ada is the reverse. 5HP and 3 non-lethal.
Sorry I tried guys...

No complaints here! The dice fall where they may. That's one of the reasons why I like this PbP and Tal's CoT so much, you guys do your rolls on the boards and don't fudge. That's what I'm striving to do in the Kingmaker PbP - it keeps the DM honest, and I've found that it actually fosters DM creativity.

That's not entirely true....when Bron suffered plot death there were no rolls to even consider fudging. I just decided I wanted him gone.

I leave for work all day and look what happens! We nearly have a TPK in a single round against glorified iguanas. Savarend is playing it safe and trying to keep some distance between himself and the shocker lizards.
To quote his internal monologue, "I'm not going near those sodding lizards!"
Deevor |
When I looked in the brochure it said the island had sandy beaches with sun shades and chairs, blue seas, beautiful scenery, fine hotels and plenty of Pina Coladas brought to you by some of the finest waiters and waitresses on the island... where did it all go wrong.
The move from 2 to 3 lizards, perhaps didn't scale so well in relation to the points, moving from 4d8(18 avg damage) to 6d8(27 avg damage), didn't scale with the extra HPs from an extra 5 points, but the rolls never helped and it happens...
Mind you, I wouldn't have thought that if I'd be DMing.

When Savarend gets home, he plans on writing a strongly-worded letter to the Sargavan Tourism Board.

Sorry to intrude, again, but...
"Healing Nonlethal Damage: You heal nonlethal damage
at the rate of 1 hit point per hour per character level. When
a spell or ability cures hit point damage, it also removes an
equal amount of nonlethal damage."
So in Ambroze's case, he would heal 2 non-lethal damage over the first hour since the battle, leaving his HP total at 3 and his accumulated non-lethal damage also at 3 (from 5 previously). Meaning he becomes conscious but staggered. Gwen's channel energy of 3 HP would then put his HP total at 6 and remove all of his non-lethal damage.
Just remember that you always track non-lethal damage separate from your actual HP.
Cheers

Hey Folks! I'm working on a comprehensive list of all of the treasure and gear that we've salvaged from the various shipwrecks or dug up from other sources on the island up to this point. I'm trying to make sure that all of our useful treasure and gear has been allocated, and that nothing that could be critical to our survival has been left unclaimed. I hope to have the list posted later this evening, and ask that you all take a look at it and note which items your character has (and make sure that I didn't miss anything).
Thanks!
- Your Friendly Neighborhood Party Accountant
