Thanks GM!
I am ok with 4 or more.

![]() |

I prefer 6 since I've found that 4-player adjustments are a little swing-y, but I'll happily play 4 if that's what makes sense :-)

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Ok- so if we go with Unseen Inclusion- Penthesilea, Drea, Rogarch can all play without using a replay, and Kenji would need to use a replay.
If everyone is good with that, I'll recruit 1-2 more to jump in and we can start in a day or two (once everyone has reset their characters).
Let me know when you're reset to PFS legal and if that works for everyone.

![]() |

Penthesilea's reset, but I haven't applied her new Chronicle Sheet yet.
Somehow missed the Day Job request...
Perform (oratory): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

![]() |

I'm a bit confused as to how I would reset Drea.
Check that, I'm absolutely gobsmacked about resetting Drea, and contemplating not continuing due to how much effort that's going to take.
Could someone help me, please?

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

- subtract gear you gained by picking it up during the scenario (or pay the gold cost to keep)
- restore spent charges on consumables and flasks, potions, or scrolls you used during this scenario
- since Drea will be higher level than they are now, you don't need to de-level, just level them based on final XP total and double check all options are PFS legal
-add gold from the Chronicle sheet and make an purchases you need before the next chronicle

![]() |

What? We've been playing this game for TWO YEARS! "Subtract the gear I picked up during the game?"
This is a punch in the gut, GM. I don't understand. I don't like it.
Frankly, I don't think I can continue here.

![]() |

On second thought, I am done here. I am sorry.
This is not a fun way to run this for me. I like creating characters organically and making their decision based on in-game roleplaying.
I feel like I won't have grip on Drea moving forward, and would be roll-playing in the future.
Thank you for the game. It was a pleasure to play with you and the others.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

I understand your reservations and if that is your final decision- I also definitely understand what you're saying about wanting to build the character organically.
Jumping in and out of campaign mode like this is confusing, but all that is required is to bring the character back into PFS legal state, which is why you can pay for the durable gear you picked up you want to keep from the gold you get for the Chronicle sheet-- think of it as after one adventure selling the unused gear and making an even split.
If that doesn't work, we could also leave Drea as they are now and pick up using them when we start Mommy's Mask part 2 (and go back into campaign mode) with you playing a different character or characters for the Scenarios.

Hi Drea,
I do understand your reasoning. At the same time I am a little sad with respect to your harsh reaction as I really like to continue with you as a player and Drea as a character.I see that you are multiple star GM so that you must have experience with PFS and would understand that the route our GM has proposed is necessary to be compliant with PFS rules.
If you want to keep the items that you currently have then just purchase them with your chronicle sheet gold. If you cannot afford all items then just use the opportunity to role play that you had to lend them to the society and will receive them back after you have done adequate service! And when you have the necessary GP at a later point in time you can just purchase them with your Chronicles.
If you want I can explain everything again personally via chat on Discord or PM.
All the best,
Noral

I've taken some hours to consider things, consider re-working things, consider creating something new, and I am resolved in my opinion. I cannot continue at this point with this game.
GM, thanks for everything. You have run an excellent campaign. I am sorry that I didn't understand how this would work, and frankly, I still don't understand. I admit that I was shocked to find out that I would have to wind Drea backwards, and I am very much antipathetic to that. I could create another character, but it wouldn't be a Scarab Sages character. It has nothing to do with the loot or the abilities - it has everything to do with how I like to organically evolve my characters. It just feels wrong to me.
I also don't have the mental bandwidth right now, and it would be unfair to limp along without full commitment. I think it is the right time to bow out of this campaign for me, and, GM, you shouldn't feel like this is a rage-quit. It comes across as such in my previous posts, and for that, I apologise. You deserve better; you deserve the graciousness that you've shown me and the others as our GM. Thank you.
To my fellow players, thanks for letting me play Drea with you. I enjoyed the banter and the characterisation. Noral, thanks for reaching out. I don't like to disappoint, but I need to step away now.
Be well. All the 20s.
-Drea (dinketry)

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Thanks for playing Drea; will look forward to playing/GMing with you again in the future.
That leaves us with:
Kenji (melee)
Rogarch (Melee)
Penthesilea (Ranged)
So I'm going to recruit 3 to fill, asking specifically for an arcane, a divine, and a support build to plug in.

Mage of the Wyrmkin |

It was fun playing with you Drea. I am sure that we will see you again online.
@Oxnard - Rolling back a level is tough. :) I will need to think if I want to keep my Paladin levels now as I will be locked in. Decisions, decisions ...
I have played Unseen Inclusion as well but not a problem. That is what replays are for.

![]() |

I'll admit - I made my temporary level 3 REALLY basic just so I wouldn't feel too bad at the end. There's a chance it ends up the same, but it definitely made just gong WEAPON FOCUS a lot easier :-D

![]() |

Thanks, everyone, for the well wishes.
GM, could you please inactivate me from the game as a player?
Adios, y'all.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Rogarch's sheet is up and Penthesilea's is updated for day job check.
Added two, just one spot open- but I doubt it's critical so unless there are complaints I will post the start of Unseen Inclusion this afternoon.

![]() |

Perfect! Thanks a lot GM.

![]() |

Welcome!

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

First post for Unseen Inclusion is up-- yes everyone can make purchases from chronicle sheet/Fame available now as we get started.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

For the record-
Fiata and Skai level 2 +
Kenji, Penthesilea, Dario, Rogarch level 3=
16/6- 2.66 APL= Low Tier with all but Fiata & Skai out of subtier.

![]() |

Just to clarify, the last chronicle sheet I need to apply will give Skai 6xp, which will push her just to 3rd level. I will hopefully update her tomorrow. But I don't think this will change the APL.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

No, would still leave us just shy of 2 with one level 2 character.

![]() |

@Oxnard - Would my character not be level 2? She started with no experience prior to the previous game. Also I am not seeing the chronicle sheet in the link above. Thanks.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Ah- yes you would be 2 then, I thought you had XP before for some reason.
Odd, I'm seeing your sheet there, but here is a direct link to it- let me know if that still doesn't work and I will figure it out.

![]() |

@Oxnard - That is good. Thanks.
I will get a post up by tomorrow at the latest. I need to rebuild my character now. :)

![]() |

I got my character brought up to speed (mostly) - level 3, added some more breezy spells and bought a whole bunch of scrolls. Still have 3k to spend, leaning toward a cloak of resistance and ring or amulet of protection, unless someone has good ideas. Thought about some pearls of power, but realized I may get more mileage out of scrolls. (In non US countries, what is the equivalent to "mileage"? kilometerage?

![]() |

@Oxnard - Could I rejoin the party after this adventure? I have become squeezed on time lately and I do not want to be dragging in this adventure.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

That's fine if you need to Rogarch- we are still in the early stages here so you can either jump in when you're ready or wait till the next one.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Sorry- updated new slide link should be editable by all now.

![]() |

I love how I can be a boring lecturer even during combat in PbP. Face-to-face, this is would really annoying for the time it would take. If it gets to be too much, just let me know and I'll scale it back.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

On an off topic tangent- since my home groups have all been paused to COVID I'm starting a Reign of Winter run (non-society) and we have one spot left to round out to 5 players if anyone would be interested, I'd rather offer to people I already know before open recruiting for it-- let me know.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Have not started yet- the four I have two are DnD player's playing path for the first time and all four are new to forum/PbP so it's slow going and a lot of text messages to get characters rolling.

![]() |

Hallo GM, thanks for the possibility to play with you.
I have character with which I could join.
She is a 2nd level char with 3 xp that I retrained to an oracle.
Would that work?

Oxnard Kettlebeak |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Hey guys- just want to drop a note. My wife and I are at the hospital this morning inducing to have our baby. Still lots of waiting involved, but I'm limited to my phone and won't be able to do full updates till Wednesday afternoon most likely.

![]() |

Congratulations! I hope this is a normal inducement and not an emergency. More than willing to wait to hear that you have a healthy and happy bundle of joy coming home.

![]() |

Oh my god!! Congratulations!!! All the best to you and your family!!

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Yes, it was scheduled, not emergency. And thank you.

![]() |

Excellent news! I can't really describe the wonderful ways your life is going to change. You are about to witness some amazing things over the next few years.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Ok!
We are nearing the end of this one which brings us to another round of whose still in, who has run what, and PFS#s:
The three next possibilities are- Risen from the Sands 1 XP Module, From Under Ice, or to start the Destiny of the Sands Trilogy.
I'm tracking: (XP after adding 1 for Unseen Inclusion)
Kenji- 8 XP, has played both Risen From Sands and From Under Ice: Destiny Trilogy?
Penthesilea- 7 XP, has played From Under Ice but NOT Risen From Sands; Destiny Trilogy?
Dario- 8 XP- do not have played status for any, need PFS #
Skai 7 XP- do not have played status for any, need PFS #
FIata 5 XP- do not have played status for any, need PFS #
Rogarch 3 XP; do not have played status for any, PMed to see if he wants to return having skipped Unseen Inclusion
If you can respond with the missing information and Day Job rolls if relevant as we wind down Unseen Inclusion.

![]() |

Hi GM,
thanks a lot!
My status after this scenario as written above answering your question:
Kenji- 8 XP, has played both Risen From Sands and From Under Ice. BUT NOT Destiny of the Sands Trilogy?
Have a great weekend everyone!

![]() |

PFS # for Skai is #150786-33
No day job.
I have played all three options for credit already.
I have a few options. I don't believe I have ever used a GM star reply before, so I think that leaves me 2. Alternatively, I could play for no credit, but GM something in parallel and just apply the GM credit to Skai to keep up. I have not GM'd any of these.

![]() |

Dario will be at 8XP. I have played From Under Ice and Destiny of the Sands trilogy, but not Risen from Sands.
PFS #: 1142-6
Day Job (dance): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

![]() |

PFS# 151777-13
Perform, Oratory: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
The only one I have not played is Risen from the Sands.
I still have plenty of replays available, so I can go through the Trilogy.
Unfortunately, Fiata has been on From Under Ice, so a replay would not work.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Ok, so. . .
Short term From Under Ice remains the worst possible option here- it's not super integral to the story line, more tangentially connected so I feel fine just leaving it at the wayside.
Looks like Risen From the Sand only requires 1-2 to use a replay and a lot have not played it, so let's do that one next?
The two who have played it (Skai and Kenji)- I have not played this one, so if one of you is willing to GM one scenario here I can bring my Paladin and that saves one replay?
Risen from the Sands
Destiny of the Sands, Part 1, A Bitter Bargain
Destiny of the Sands, Part 2, Race to Seeker's Folly
Destiny of the Sands, Part 3, Sanctum of the Sages
Tyranny of Winds, Part 1: The Sandstone Prophecy
Tyranny of Winds, Part 2: Secrets of the Endless Sky
Tyranny of Winds Part 3, Caught in the Eclipse
Test of Tar Kuata
Mummy's Mask Part 2 This will put the party at 6th level for Mummy's Mask 2
The Rebel's Ransom
Port Godless
Mummy's Mask Part 3 this will put the party at 8th level for Mummy's Mask 3
(7-11 Scenarios into the later Mummy's Mask parts)
I do feel that the two Trilogies are important enough to the thrust of the story to try our best to include even if we need to use several replays on them
Thoughts on this plan?
