About Penthesilea Aelyosan

Appearance::
Penthesilea might be a bit shorter than average if you took the time to measure her, but she stands as though already in command of the world, so she probably won't stand still while you get out your yardstick. Most people aren't as tall as they look anyways. Heels, padded boots, potions. Ladders

She's worn her dark hair long ever since her first voyage when someone told her to cut it short to get it out of her way. It's also served as a source of spare bowstrings in emergencies. It hasn't worked yet, but starting the first myth about you only takes once!

She keeps a collection of good luck charms around, and a few bad luck ones in case someone pisses me off, but still accepts gifts from me. Her collection of charms always includes eleven holy symbols:
Besmara's Flag tattooed across her shoulders for her Queen, and ten more to keep in good with whoever's in charge of what she's doing Besmara's always in charge of my brigandry, so she's in ink. The rest are all fickle, so I just deal with wood for now.

Bonus Feat: Penthesilea received an extra feat at 1st level.

Skilled: Penthesilea gains an additional skill rank per level.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Penthesilea is proficient with all simple weapons, plus the longbow, sap, short sword, and shortbow. She is also proficient with light armor and shields (except tower shields). Penthesilea can cast bard spells while wearing light armor and use a shield without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance.

Diminished Spellcasting: Penthesilea casts one fewer spell of each level than normal.

Bardic Performance 12 rounds/day - Standard action start

Inspire Courage (Su): Penthesilea can use her performance to inspire courage in her allies, bolstering them against fear and improving their combat abilities. To be affected, an ally must be able to perceive Penthiselea's performance. An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls. Inspire courage is a mind-affecting ability. Inspire courage can use audible or visual components. Penthesilea must choose which component to use when starting her performance.

Arcane Archery: Penthesilea’s skill at ranged martial arts allows her to learn to cast a number of powerful, offensive spells that would otherwise be unavailable to her. She has selected a number of spells from the sorcerer/ wizard spell list equal to her Charisma modifier (2) and added them to her bard spell list as bard spells of the same level.

The spells selected must not already be on the bard spell list, and must be 6th level or lower. At 4th level and every 4 bard levels thereafter, she will add an additional sorcerer/wizard spell to her bard spell list.

Penthesilea is limited to the following spells when adding spells to her spell list in this manner: acid arrow, arrow eruption, flame arrow, gravity bow, greater magic weapon, longshot, magic weapon, protection from arrows, spectral hand, true strike, and sorcerer/wizard spells of the evocation school. Penthesilea must still select these spells as spells known before she can cast them.

In addition, for the purpose of meeting the requirements of combat feats and prestige classes, Penthesilea treats her bard level as her base attack bonus. Her skilled blending of archery and arcane magic also allows her to fulfill a spell’s somatic components even when using a bow in both hands (though not other ranged weapons).

Precise Minstrel: Penthesilea gains Precise Shot as a bonus feat. In addition, any creature that is affected by any of her bardic performances does not provide soft cover to enemies against her ranged attacks with a bow.

Less Common Performances:
Countersong: Penthesilea has learned to counter magic effects that depend on sound. Each round of the countersong she makes a Perform (Oratory) skill check. Any creature within 30' that is affected by a sonic or language-dependent magical attack may use the Perform check in place of their saving throw. If they are already under the effect of a noninstantaneous sonic or language-dependent magical attack, they gain another saving throw each round they hear the countersong, but must use Penthiselea's Perform check for the save.

Feats::
Point Blank Shot: Penthesilea is especially accurate when making ranged attacks against close targets.

She gets a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls with ranged weapons at ranges of up to 30 feet.

Rapid Shot: When making a full-attack action with a ranged weapon, Penthesilea can fire one additional time at her highest bonus. All of her attack rolls take a –2 penalty when using Rapid Shot.

Precise Shot: Penthesilea is adept at firing ranged attacks into melee.

She can shoot or throw ranged weapons at an opponent engaged in melee without taking the standard –4 penalty on her attack roll.

Arcane Strike: Penthesilea draws upon her arcane power to enhance her weapons with magical energy. As a swift action she can imbue her weapons with a fraction of her power. For 1 round her weapons deal +1* damage and are treated as magic for overcoming DR.

Traits:
Giant Ambivalence: Penthesilea was strongly influenced by two separate acts by Cyclopes, one of great beneficence and one of great violence. She reflexively gauges the intentions of powerful creatures in case they turn to violence. She gains a +1 trait bonus on initiative checks. She also gains a +1 trait bonus on Sense Motive checks, and a +2 trait bonus on Perception checks to not be surprised.

Irrepressible: Penthesilea's hope for a brighter future blessed by the gods, combined with her powerful personality, allows her to force her way free of spells that cloud the mind. She can use her Charisma modifier in place of her Wisdom modifier when attempting Will saving throws against charm and compulsion effects.

Planar Sage: Penthesilea is versed in the ancient cultures and the bound elementals that helped build their wonders. She is trained in Knowledge (history and planes) and treats her bonus on these checks as though it were 3+the number of goals she has completed (+6).

Explore, Report, Cooperate (x2): Penthesilea has an excellent sense of what makes an exemplary Pathfinder. As a free or immediate action, she may consider whether a particular action she names would help realize the goals of the Pathfinder Society. The GM then informs me if that action would help the secondary success conditions.

Prized Find: Penthesilea was instrumental in uncovering a cache of lost records that the Pathfinder Society can use to explore hitherto unknown sites. If she would fail to earn a Prestige Point at the end of an adventure due to failing a success condition, she may use this boon to remind her superiors of her past breakthroughs and earn the 1 Prestige Point as if she had fulfilled the condition.

Inside Knowledge: As a former member of the Aspis Consortium, Magali Delroya is well informed about the organization's activities, and she shares some of her information with Penthesilea. She gains a +2 bonus on Knowledge (local) checks about the Aspis Consortium and can roll such checks untrained. She can give up this boon to take 20 on a single such check.

Lord Avid's Recommendation: Lord Avid is impressed that Penthesilea managed to complete her mission without using his writ, and he speaks highly of her discretion. She gains a +2 circumstance bonus on all Charisma-based skill checks against nobility while on the Isle of Kortos. She can use up this boon to lean heavily on her connection to Lord Avid. If she does so, the circumstance bonus on one such check increases to +4 and she can apply it while interacting with anyone on the Isle of Kortos.

Friend of Janira Gavix: The field agent who oversaw Penthesilea's Confirmation is appreciative of her bravery and camaraderie in the face of danger. She helps Penthesilea perform research, granting her a +1 bonus on Knowledge checks attempted while she is in the Grand Lodge.

Echoes of the Dead: Penthesilea's chilling experiences in the House of Pentheru have hardened her resolve and strengthened her fortitude against the effects of haunts and the troubling visions they bring. When she fails a Fort. or Will save against a haunt, she can use this boon to gain a +2 competence bonus on the save retroactively.

Debt to the Scarred Sage: As a representative of the Jeweled Sages, Penthesilea promised that Grandmaster Torch would be welcome to participate in confronting any threat to the organization.

Secrets Beyond Sight: Penthesilea knows that there's more to understanding history and her surrounding than sight alone. She can use up this boon to gain one of these benefits: Object Reading (CL 5) as a standard, Scent for 10 minutes as a swift, blindsense 10' for rounds/level as a swift, or tremorsense 20' for rounds/level as a swift.

Veshtahz's Favors: Penthesilea has convinced the doru Veshtahz to serve her in exchange for the tempting secrets he craves. She can once call on him to get a 30 on a Diplomacy check to gather information.

Back to the Grave: While exploring the tomb of Pharaoh Sekh-pa-Mefer III, Penthesilea encountered many undead creatures, and with each one she and her companions vanquished, she learned another trick to destroy them even more quickly. She can use up this boon as a swift action to gain a +1 insight bonus on attack rolls made against undead creatures. Each time she successfully hits and undead creature, this bonus increases by 1 to a maximum of +3. This boon lasts for 5 rounds.

Seeking the Sages: Penthesilea is in pursuit of the legacy of the Jeweled Sages, which Amenopheus believes is very close at hand.
