The arrow lodges in her chest, leaving her with gasping, rattling breaths. She can't stay standing much longer, right?!

I am using a swift action to get a scroll from my spring loaded sheath, casting it at Teal as a standard, giving Combat Advice to Styfis versus Teal, taking a five foot step back, then dropping prone.
As an arrow pierces Alexandra's side the illusion covering her body flickers for a moment, showing a body covered in copper scales and scars. This momentary lapse escapes her notice as the taste of iron floods into her mouth accompanied by a sickening crack from inside of her.
Oh gods that was a rib. Gotta focus. I'll deal with it later.
As she flicks her wrist a scroll leaps out into her hand. She tries to cast the spell through the blood pooling in her mouth but the panic is starting to set in. With a flash of light an arrow forms and then fizzles in the air.
Damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9
Maybe I'll deal with it now.
She calls out to Styphis while diving for cover.

Dax dives into the water, directing a suddenly frigid current of water towards the swimming attacker, who flounders in the rough current. Her companion makes one last desperate strike against El Garrapata, but the crush of the crowd saves him from the worst of it. Acting beyond the limits of her endurance finally catches up with her, and the swordswoman collapses, unmoving.

I have no idea which is correct, I can't find a proper ruling. You use con for the damage on kinetic blasts, but wis for the DC of blasts which require saves, I.E. Torrent, or my saves would be way higher.
Dax leaps down into the water, which rises up to support the gnome's weight and starts carrying the very small burden across the waves. A hand brushes the surface spray and it hurls a ball of solid water at the ocean-bound foe.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Damage: 5d6 + 1d8 + 16 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 1, 2) + (4) + 16 = 29
GM Cwethan |
Okay. I'm reasonably certain you use Con, so we'll go with that - No massive burn. Also, my understanding is that while Form Infusions use Dex to determine save DCs, Substance Infusions (and most Wild Talents) do actually use Con for their DCs. Unless you've got some archetype I missed or something.
So... good news all around I guess!
Either way...
Dax's watery deluge knocks the remaining archer unconscious to drown or be fished out as you wish.
A more thorough examination of the provocateurs reveals a few badges identifying them as agents of the Aspis Consortium, as well as their assorted loot.
The captain manages to narrowly cram the remaining citizens onto his ship, and set's sail forthwith.
You can heal up, you can request help from back at home base as described earlier, but either way, it's time to pick which district you're heading to next!
Dax Rya |
Dax tries to use a wand to heal the minor maladies, then goes to drag the unconscious individual from the water. The water bends to the hydromancer's will, as of course it would, and deposits them back onto the dock.

I still vote Confluence, I don't believe much has been done there and it sounds fun.
Alexandra Trazaron |
I think the Confluence is a fine idea.
OK, one...two...three!
Alexandra pulls out a wand with one hand and grips the arrow tip with the other. Ripping the arrow free, she immediately begins to effortlessly heal the damage away while picking over gear of the Aspis Agents.
Wand of Cure Light: 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (8, 1, 6) + 3 = 18
Why did they do this? They could have just asked us to take them. Wait a second.
She begins speaking, mainly to herself.
"These Aspis agents might have been opportunists. Maybe they were making 'the best' of the sudden situation when they got caught in the city. However, it is also possible that they are involved in this invasion. Perhaps they think they can get something out of the collapse of this city."
She perks up as she grabs a few things.
"Perhaps I am just being paranoid. Wouldn't be the first time. I could use these scrolls of Ray of Exhaustion and this wand is really nice as well. Oh, and one of these longstrider potions. And also one of those Silent Images. Unless any of you also want this stuff."
GM Cwethan |
Please do feel free to retroactively heal in your first post - or even 'point out' that you went back to the Lodge in order to avail yourself of the Society's supplies, but two votes for the Confluence means we're on the move!
In blessed contrast to the docks, the streets here are empty of civilians, but as you try to find someone to direct you, you hear the repeated clanking of running troops in armor.
A group of fleeing crusaders rounds the corner and hurtles past you, one of them bounces off El Garrapata, and quickly explains. "By the gods, it’s horrible! This big, fat, scaly reptile-demon let loose these awful monstrosities with the help of some cultists. They must have been raising them inside for who knows how long! The demon said they would herald in a new polluted dawn, whatever that means!
“Look, we’re not prepared to fight them—we’re running, and you might be smart to flee as well!”
With that he suits action to words, and continues his flight. Scant moments later, the source of his terror becomes abundantly clear. A seething mass of bubbling molten rock churns and moves ofits own hungry accord. An awful rotten stench steams off of the dripping ooze. Something foul. Something corrupt.

Kargen move to the man he killed. While the others decide where to move to next, he performs a small ritual over the body. He takes out a small piece of bread and eats it. Then he kneels down and whispers to the corpse.
Kargen can use his Eat Sin ability to Speak with Dead. Will save DC 15. Kargen is going to ask about the Aspis plans, but I don't know if that will matter in this Special.
The archers takes potions of cure light wounds, longstrider, and invisibility. As the others decide to move to the Confluence, he casts a spell on himself, granting him a bit of Erastil's grace.

Any and all of those water based abilities will work towards hardening its shell into immobility.
Kargen is sure that if the Magma Ooze hits you, there'll be enough suction that it would essentially grab onto and constrict you. Plus of course, touching it could burn you badly.

Yikes! Double posting while simultaneously not checking my rolls. That's sub-par to say the least. I'll make sure to not do that again.

Hmm, it feels like used chill cream. I wish I brought something to get samples with.
"The Woundward sounded like it needed help, but if things are getting worse than the Outer District will need us more."
GM Cwethan |
Hey guys, I'm really sorry. My post got goblined, but thankfully was saved in my browser nonetheless. Without further ado, I'll let 5-hours-ago-Cwethan take it away:
Alexandra's vote sounded more like a pitch for the Outer District, so I'll take her and Styfis's 2 as where we're going.
To the Gate!
You arrive at Nerosyan's northeastern gate, as Venture-Captain Jorsal is completing a personal assessment of the conflict outside. “Friends, I’m glad you’re here. There are still some Pathfinders nearby who weren’t able to make it on time to our gathering. I’ve plotted out their positions on this map, but I need capable agents to go and retrieve them. I have enough mounts to spare. Waste no time.”
He hands down a soot-stained parchment to you with the last known positions of the agents. A requisition from a nearby stable provides you with four horses and a pony. Then, it's up to you.
There are three groups indicated on Jorsal's map: the closest group is to the northeast, the middle group is to the north, and a third group is skirting the edge of the Worldwound to the northwest. If you want to avoid doubling back unnecessarily you should start with either the closest or the farthest one.
Start with the closest (northeastern), or the farthest (northwestern), or make a compelling pitch for just heading north

I can't let anyone go through what happened to me but...no, I won't let my fear stop me.
"We can't abandon these people. Lets go to the northeast first. If any of the groups are pinned down then we can clear a path for them to retreat back safely."
Kargen Hapspring |
"Northeast sounds like as good a plan as any. Do the agents know what happening?" Kargen drinks the potion of longstrider to give himself an added edge.
We have those potions we found if people want to heal up.
Styfis |
Is it possible to get two or three more horses? Because some of the rescued Pathfinders could need them.
I would also go to Northeast first.
Dax Rya |
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Dax approaches. "We would not all need horses. I do not need a horse, for instance. I could make do with a large enough dog."
GM Cwethan |
"Well... we had a pony for you, but... I suppose we could spare a few extra horses. Bring them back safe though! I've heard stories about adventurers using horses and ponies to spring traps, and you'd better not do that to Daffodil!"
***
Heading towards the closest group towards the northeast, you are able to avoid the frontlines. As you approach the spot Captain Jorsal had marked you spot four humanoids on foot. They're banged up but mostly whole, and as you get closer you can see their wayfinders. A burly dwarf unslings a greataxe from his back as you draw near, and shouts, "Ho there! If you're demonkin, come closer so we can smite you back to th' Abyss. If you're friends, can we borrow a horse or four?"
Kargen Hapspring |
Kargen pulls up to take good look at the group before identifying himself. I'm Captain Kargen Hapspring. We've been sent to bring in a group of Pathfinders. Who are you and what's been happening to you? The archer presses his horse closer and listens closely to their response.
Discern Lies at will as well as a Sense Motive check

Alexandra gives a friendly wave at everyone and addresses the dwarf.
"Hello sir, I'm glad to see that you and your group are OK."
I'd like to give them a horse but it might be better to keep them for the groups further in who need to cover more ground. If someone is injured they will need them more as well.
GM Cwethan |
The burly dwarf reaches up a hand to shake. "Holter Ironaxe. Well, we were out here on an expedition of our own when everything went balls up and demons everywhere. We fought off a wave of 'em, but the cowardly blighters killed our horses a couple miles off that way."
Kargen Hapspring |
Kargen dismounts and greets Holter. "If you are able to return in your own, we may need the horses for other Pathfinders we locate. You seem to be a decent shape. Jorsal is waiting for you."
Alexandra Trazaron |
Alexandra's worry begins to build slightly.
There are two other groups that are still out there. If you were hit then I worry for them. TO be so far from the walls...they might be pinned down as we speak."
