That sounds great to me. Merritt in front if we are exploring/looking for traps, Torrak in front if we are expecting combat.

At least to me, it feels like our characters are expecting combat, so unless Merritt wants to lead, Torrak will be in front of the group.

Cross-posting in all of my games; apologies if you see this more than once.

Tomorrow, I head out for a weeklong vacation to where there are beaches, sunshine, and tropical beverages. I intend to be taking utmost advantage of all of the above (especially the latter). As such, I may have difficulty posting while I'm away; please bot me if necessary.

That said, the resort does have free WiFi, and I just got a new keyboard for my iPad that should allow me to post better on vacation than I ever have been able to before. I will be trying to keep up with all of my games as much as possible.

I expect, though, that my posts will necessarily be brief, even to the point of simply making my rolls without much roleplay. If I am silent in social situations, or not posting my combats, please err on the side of botting me early, rather than waiting; it will likely be better for us all that way.

Looks like there might have been a typo in that damage roll - if the goblin dog does a d26 of damage on its bite, we might want to leave while we can.

Also, did Torrak's readied action and AoO happen? Would that have changed anything?

The goblin dog does 1d6, but it landed a 20 20 crit. Dunno how 1d26 happened. Oops. I'll reroll that in the gameplay chat. The readied action and AoO both missed. Though I included that but I guess I didn't. Oops. I'll try to be a bit more careful next time.

That's one hell of a goblin dog if a 21 on my readied action missed! Lol glad I got it down with my next attack, that could have been way worse!

GM, would you prefer each roll on its own line? I know I sometimes mistake a damage roll for an attack roll if they're on the same line. Or maybe you'd like us to add something like so:

Example wrote:
Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 -> Damage roll: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

...to make a visual difference between the two rolls?

No worries, I'm relieved we aren't fighting something with hella AC to start of a bunch of level 1 characters! XD I'll separate my rolls from now on so it is clearer!

Before I continue, I'd like us to come to a unanimous decision on the following.

I've been told by a local VO (and have since confirmed it myself) that Emerald Spire is not legal for PFS campaign mode. The sanctioning rules are missing the campaign mode wording that modules like Dragon's Demand have. I'm perfectly okay to continue GMing a full run, we just solidly won't be able to get any PFS credit for doing so.

I won't post in gameplay until we get this sorted out. My apologies for not being 100% sure of the campaign mode bit.

So, do we continue?

Oh, that's poopy. But all the forum posts I can find on the subject seem to agree.

Personally, I would prefer to switch to PFS characters and continue the full run (changing builds and roles to fit within PFS guidelines).

TBH, I've no real preference either way. I'm surprised too, never would have even suspected that Emerald Spire wasn't eligible for a campaign mode.

I made a fresh PC to do this anyways. Unless our party changes and Torrak no longer fits, I'll stick to this character. I don't think he is illegal for PFS. Don't get me wrong though, I've no problem changing everything about this character to conform to what characters y'all have available/want to play.

Thanks for the transparency GM, I'm sure it puts you in an uncomfortable spot!

EDIT: What level characters would we need to use? Would we switch them out right now, or after this floor?

I would prefer to play this PFS and still get credit. I would definitely need to rebuild Merritt; tieflings aren't legal in PFS, and I don't have a boon that would allow me to play one.

I would be interested to know how our transition from Campaign mode to PFS would look: would we continue from here with our newly-legal PFS characters, or would we restart from the beginning?

Well, I have a PFS-legal evangelist cleric I could swap in for Felix. More support, more damage, less debuff. Zelphar and Torrak look like they're PFS-legal already, so we'd just have to adjust Merritt's race and then could probably carry on as if nothing had happened.

What say you?

Pardon my butting in, but I will have a spare tiefling/aasimar boon this weekend thanks to completing my RSP GM boon. I believe I can hand it off to Merritt without a problem. I'll have to check my boons but I may also be able to pass an aasimar boon to Felix as well. I'll try to check tonight and get back to you.

I'd rather not restart if we don't have to. My current plan is to have us just adjust our characters to be PFS legal before continuing (as if a VC came over to ensure legal characters and found some that weren't during play. Just an on the fly rework is all.

TOZ, that sounds very generous! Thanks for butting in, haha. We will have to change at least one part of Felix for sure (sadly, the domains had to be modified. Shame. Oh, and alternative channeling. I don't think that's PFS legal. And the Aasimar, possibly.)

From what I can tell, The only illegal part about Merritt is the Tiefling part (thanks TOZ for possibly alleviating that.)

Torrak, as far as I can tell, you're already perfectly legal. Just make sure all the racial traits you selected are.

Zelphar, as far as I can tell, you're also already legal.

Everybody, let's plan to regroup here on Tuesday January 15th with PFS legal characters, and we'll continue from there. What do y'all say?

Welcome to the Emerald Spire, where the goblins set up a trap, but it's not called a trap and has no disable device or perception DCs. It's not even an actual cave in, so I don't know if you even COULD have noticed that ahead of time.
