Sorry. I edited the post a few minutes later to have the initiative put back in, but....it seems to not have stuck.
One more goblin. Then we're out of initiative and I'll do some hand waving.
Torrak Farcrusher
Pretty sure the answer is no, but it's worth asking: Can I move over the rubble to fight the other goblin?
Tseghet

Pretty sure the answer is no, but it's worth asking: Can I move over the rubble to fight the other goblin?
I'd hate to think it would add more crushing damage to those trapped underneath, but Torrak would finish off this goblin so much faster than Tseghet and then we could both get back to work digging out half the party.
Torrak Farcrusher
My thought was more the height of the rubble than the crushing damage for added weight. I figure since it is already high enough that you can't get out without digging, it might cause problems going over it.
GM XaveTheNerd
Sadly, the scenario specifies that it blocks access to the other side, and will take almost a day of work to clear. You CAN fit through the tunnel. You'll just take -4 to AC and attack rolls while you're in it.
Torrak Farcrusher
Tseghet's attack looks like a ringer to me. Will put off a post to see how it resolves as it will change my actions.
Torrak Farcrusher
I say we jump that sleeping goblin! With just one goblin, we can probably get in there and kill it quickly with minimal resource expenditure.
Torrak Farcrusher
From the GM's original placements, I've reshuffled our positions in such a way that I believe would allow me to 5ft step into the room after Tseghet opens the door, gives Merritt a shot into the room and Zelphar LoS into the room.
Does that look good to everyone? GM, is this arrangement possible (Idk if checks would be involved, if certain things aren't possible, etc.)
As far as moving the action forward, I think entering initiative for what is hopefully a surprise round would be good!

The entire floor here is difficult terrain, so 5 foots steps can't be made. Otherwise, that would be allowed. (sorry. Scenario says so)

I just realized one other change I needed to make to Merritt for him to be PFS-legal: PFS Alchemists get Extra Bombs instead of Brew Potion. So, Merritt has 2 more bombs to throw today than I thought.

Hey all, I need to apologize for disappearing. I got really really sick. I feel terrible for just disappearing like that though. I was hoping to get caught back up on my games tonight but I still don’t feel well and have no motivation. I’m thinking one more good night’s rest and I’ll be feeling well enough to go through everything I missed since the weekend. I’m really sorry.
Torrak Farcrusher
Haha for some reason it made sense in my head that Skizzert was one of the PC's! My bad GM.
Zelphar Xyroris
Quick heads-up: I have a guest coming over for Valentine’s Day on Wednesday night to spend a couple days. I will be sure to post Wednesday but I won’t be able to post Thursday and maybe not Friday. Depending on where we’re at in-game tomorrow I’ll try to post potential actions or botting options. If we’re just at an RP point I might just need to catch up over the weekend.
Zelphar Xyroris
Hey all, I’m off on a last-minute road trip out into the west desert after just finishing a big/stressful work project. I’ll make some time to update soon.
Torrak Farcrusher
On the topic of my trying to not negate my allies' tactics: Tseghet do I need to keep trying to make space for you up front? Zelphar, is there anything I can do or shouldn't do to help you with your summons? Figure if we are in this for the long haul, we might as well learn to fight with each other ;)
Tseghet
|
Eventually Tseghet will be a flanking partner, but his defenses are paper-thin right now so he's less likely to do so (especially given the difficult terrain everywhere).
Zelphar Xyroris
Hey all, I'm back from my road trip. I apologize again for taking off with such short notice. I have my home group Adventure Path tonight that I'm getting ready for now. And a few things I need to do tomorrow morning. But I'll get caught up and posting in gameplay by tomorrow evening/night.
GM XaveTheNerd
I assume it's obvious, but we're nearing the end of the scenario. Because I don't have a good way to push you up there, the last place to clear out on the surface is up. The stairs do lead down in that room, and they lead down quite a bit.
On that same note, please make sure your information on the slides (slide 2) is correct. Chronicle sheets will likely be coming within the next week.
On that happy note, time to slay another small set of boring, regular old goblins.
GM XaveTheNerd
Apologies in advance.
This week is my midterm week right before Spring Break, so I've got a lot of work to do. My Play by Post commitments are getting the backburner. I'll still attempt to post every day, but I can make no guarantees for about a week. Once my paper, homework, lab report, midterm, and various other commitments are taken care of, I'll update here.
Tseghet
|
Tseghet's got 2 rounds of performance left, shield of faith, and 4 charges left on the wand. He could continue, but resting would allow his to prepare other spells like bless that would benefit the party.
Torrak Farcrusher
Not to be meta, but this is PFS and are characters aren't aware of any time constraints. Lets do a rest for the day and roll through the last room like a bunch of savages. We can go whole hog on whatever is up there and be done with it :D

Hey all, I got hit hard by a bug on Wed PM, and I'm not quite recovered yet. Thanks for any botting you've done. I'm going to share this message in all of my games first, and will then circle back to posting in-game. That may not happen quickly, however, so please keep botting me until I post again in Gameplay. Thanks!

I'm still missing some information on slide 2 (Hawthwile character name)
As for day jobs, please roll it here if your character's got one.
Also, as you may know, there are a few floors here where in normal play you WOULDN'T get a level, so I'll be sure to let you know which floors you should slow track to ensure you can still play this character in the spire. On that note, this floor is a REGULAR track, so expect to level up before heading deeper.

Perform (oratory), Take 10: 10 + 5 = 15 (10 gp is better than 0 gp!)
Torrak Farcrusher
Being large works for me Zelphar! I'll respond in character, but just wanted to let you know incase you get to post before I do.
GM XaveTheNerd
Since you're doing the whole spire with this PC, I'd suggest you look into the included Land Rush chronicle. It can provide some cool things. I'll wait to post in gameplay until everybody has confirmed that their chronicle has been received and looks good AND that the character is leveled up and ready to go.
Also, it's at the chronicle delivery point I always ask this. What do you think I did well as a GM? What did I do badly? Where can I improve? Got any general tips for a newbie to PbP GMing?
And thanks for being a part of my 4th ever experience GMing PbP.
Tseghet

Do we still get the Goblin Bane boon if we didn't actually kill Grulk?
Merritt Provoxt
|
I think I'm going to do it. It looks like the B hexes get you 1 PP back, but you also get 1 Fame, which increases our purchase limit There's a real, material value to that. Using the B hexes to get to E/F/G might be a good plan.
Merritt Provoxt
|
Oh, and Merritt has a Day Job. Might as well collect it!
Craft (alchemy), alchemy, day job: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 = 25
Can you add that to his chronicle sheet?
Merritt would also like to attempt a faction goal. Is there a named NPC in the town that qualifies as a "scholar, knowledgeable spellcaster, or similar figure?" I'm happy to roleplay the Knowledge (arcana) check I need to make to recruit them to the Dark Archive, or I can just roll it here.
________________________
As far as GM feedback goes, I'd like to praise how you kept us moving through doors and hallways well. PbP is a notoriously challenging format for that, and dungeon crawls like this are the worst case scenario. You're doing well keeping us moving.
Zelphar Xyroris
Hm. I'm probably not going to get a day job, and the Country Estate vanity isn't very good. So the only land rush boons I care about (besides regaining PP spent on this stuff; B and D) would be: F (probably taken later for more gold) and G (for the initiative bonus. So I'd end up spending 9 PP (after getting 3 back), getting 1 extra fame, getting a max of 2250 GP (if taken at level 15), and +1 to initiative. That 2250 would be worth 6 PP if converted via buying items (scrolls, wands) worth 750 GP using 2 PP. So I'd get 1 extra fame and +1 initiative for the remaining 3 PP spent. Eh, I guess I'll do it.
—
@GM: no criticisms from me! You kept the dungeon crawl moving and were a fair judge. Question though: how will you handle possible folio rerolls if you roll our saves for us like with the trap that buried a couple of us (which is understandable to keep things moving)? Since we "know the results" and all?
Zelphar Xyroris
Leveled up, profile updated. Ready for the next floor. I bought a cloak of resistance +1 (1000 gp) and a wand of infernal healing (2 pp), and spent 2 pp on hex 'A'.

Merritt is leveled up and ready to go!
Items sold
Light crossbow (35)
Hellknight leather (30)
Thieves' tools (30)
Purchases
Light crossbow, masterwork (335)
Leaf armor (500)
Alchemist's lab (200)
Thieves' tools, masterwork (100)
Wand of cure light wounds (20 charges; 300 gp, limit 1)
Bandolier, 2 (1)
Crafted
Alchemist's fire DC 20, 6 (40 gp) (Craft (alchemy), Take 10 = 28)
Spent 2 pp on Hex A
GM XaveTheNerd
For rerolls, I've always taken the approach of roll first, describe later. If you think a roll is too low before reading the result yourself, I'll allow it. Really, we're working on the honor system here.
Land Rush is just a fun little thing you get for doing this with these PCs. But, note, the more floors a PC does, the more likely they are to die. If somebody dies mid spire, we'll have to replace them, of course, so be weary of spending TOO MUCH prestige, but that should go without saying.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Keeping the stuff moving has been quite an effort on my end, but I've stolen a few tricks from some other GMs here, and I guess they're working!
Still waiting on Tseghet and Torrak to be ready.
And yeah, you shouldn't have the Goblin Bane boon. Just recently found the super official sanctioning information with the missions and such on it.
Torrak Farcrusher
Aside from the Goblin Slayer Boon, my chronicle looks great! So we can basically spend 2 pp every chronicle to buy a hex of land that is adjacent to a hex we already own. Sounds fun to me! How many chronicles will we have for going through the entire Emerald Spire? Just for planning out my land purchases.
I'll level up this evening!
Torrak Farcrusher
Torrak is leveled! Bought a mwk dorn-derger, weapon focus for my feat, bought chainmail to replace hide armor.
Is anyone grabbing a wand of CLW? Since we will be playing these characters together for a while, we could rotate who replaces the wand as it gets used (and otherwise spend our PP for magic consumables to the benefit of the party), should we be so inclined.

Merritt purchased his copy of the 20 charge wand from our chronicle sheet. We can rotate through those (limit 1 each, but that means we can purchase 4 all told) and then switch to full charge wands.
Torrak Farcrusher
Oh yes, that is an excellent idea. For 300gp each, we can get the partial charge wands. Sweet!
Tseghet
|
Sorry, life is slightly busy and I haven't had the chance to update Tseghet's profile. But rotating the partially-charged wands sounds good to me! Tseghet will be happy to use them on whoever needs them.

Thank you for being patient everyone - Tseghet has new weapons and armor and is ready to spread the word of Iomedae into the depths of this tower!
