Aegekt |
Sorry for the delay! After Rudzik destroyed the last turret and the gravity didn't seem to stop, Aegekt would come out of delay and cast Shield of Wings.
Fly (if needed): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24
Pooka Bladespinner |
"We've got to turn this cursed thing off!" Pooka shouts, spinning in the air to get his feet underneath him and willing his body to move through the air towards the door that Xichi is opening.
"Luna! Stay! Guard!" he shouts to his faithful pup.
Move action to 'stand', then move action to go to the door Xichi is opening.
Luna Starlight |
Luna hears the shouts of her master, but it does not slow her borking. The confusion from the shifting gravity has already left her brain, but being separated from Pooka in this moment of stress is not sitting well.
Obediently, she stays where she is, and takes up a circular flying pattern a few feet off the ground by the others who remain outside the strange orb.
She will continue to move enough to not have to make a fly check, but stay in the same area. As always, please let me know if I am stretching the boundaries of what I should be able to do.
GM Picatrix |
I could have sworn I posted this much earlier! It was on my GM google doc. Anyway, apologies for the delay. I made a promise to finish this scenario before RetroCon so I'll keep things on track.
Rudzik looks around for any way to disable the weird gravity effect but doesn’t see anything. Xichi is concentrating on his detect magic spell but does not sense any magic auras other than those of his allies. He flies over to another door and opens it. Aegekt gives himself fiery wings. Pooka tells Luna to guard the others and flies over to the door with Xichi. The next area looks similar to the previous one, including three more turrets that have not been destroyed.
out of initiative for now. What would you like to do?
Rudzik |
Rudzik sighs and turns to Enora. "Do you have a way of helping me fly?" he asks humbly. "I prefer to keep my feet on solid ground, but when the ground no longer remembers which way is down we must place our trust elsewhere."
He then whistles for Wilk. "Time for a nap," he says gently as he pulls out a scroll and begins casting a spell from it. He touches Wilk, and the giant wolf shrinks down into a hand-sized carving. Pocketing his companion, Rudzik looks for the rest of the party.
"If there's more of those shooting things up ahead, let me know and I can pick them off," he calls. "But it would save us time if someone could retrieve my arrows from this room while I'm doing so."
Xichikitte |
Xichi switches his Detect Magic for a Mage Hand, and casually uses it to gather the spent arrows.
Xichi is able to help you with that.
Pooka Bladespinner |
"If you can get them from out here, that would be a far safer way to handle this. I don't think I can take another blast."
Pooka finally takes a moment to look at his wounds, then pulls his curing wand out. "While we have a moment to catch our breath, a little help?" he asks.
If the average rule still applies, 10 charges to heal me back up + another 10 for Luna please! 2 minutes to complete that...
Pooka Bladespinner |
Pooka accepts the beating, crossing his eyes only slightly as the wand sends out a resonating *ping* with every charge expended.
When it is over, the halfling looks up at the towering warrior with a wry grin. "Careful doing that with Luna. She is liable to take it out of your hand and wait for you to throw it..." he chuckles.
GM Picatrix |
Rudzik shrinks Wilk into a figurine and puts the miniature wolf in his pocket. Xichi magically collects the durable adamantine arrows used to take out the turrets. Pooka spends a couple minutes getting himself and Luna back up to full health.
Those flying: note that two minutes have been spent healing. In the interest of getting this scenario finished before Retro Con, I will point out that there are more turrets visible but Rudzik would be able to take them out from an area of normal gravity. And enough of you are flying that I won’t spend time putting us through more rounds of the gravity trap. Once triggered, you’re able to determine that it lasts for 5 rounds and resets after a minute. You’re able to eventually spot some things that appear to be security cameras that seem to cause the trap to trigger.
There are a couple unopened doors on the map. Where would you like to go/what would you like to do now?
Rudzik |
Rudzik puts a few arrows through the magic viewports. Whatever weird kind of technology this is, at least arrows still work against it, he thinks grumpily to himself as he thanks Xichikitte for his assistance.
"Well, the journal only mentions 'a door' inside the ruins," he says to the party. "If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably in this central room. Why don't we check out this side room over here first, make sure there's no surprises to catch us from behind?" He keeps an eye out for traps as the party moves through the ruins.
Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25
Rudzik is suggesting we open the door(s) closer to his icon first, then proceed to the central room afterwards.
Xichikitte |
Sounds good to me.
Pooka Bladespinner |
"Sounds good to me." Pooka adds.
GM Picatrix |
Chairs upholstered in frayed fibers stand before decrepit metal desks, each sporting an array of large windows that hang suspended against the walls. Most of these glassy surfaces are shattered. Low steps to the south lead to a circular area containing only a small throne precariously perched atop a thin column.
This room appears to have once been some kind of command center. What would you like to do?
Enora - Arcanist Iconic |
Enora will try analyse the room using the book.
kn engineering : 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
GM Picatrix |
Enora makes an educated guess that two currently-functioning technological devices (computers, although I don’t think most Pathfinders would know what a computer is) in this area help manage the defenses and surveillance equipment throughout the entire facility.
I’ll save you some time and let you know there are no magic auras and there’s nothing else interesting to find by looking around. What would you like to do now?
Xichikitte |
Xichi flies up next to the tiny chair and examines it.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Aegekt |
Aegekt briefly looks over the room move action...
Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
...and Assuming he doesn’t find anything turns heel away from the room.
”Nothing here but Numerian junk! Let’s just move on to the central chamber.”
Aegekt stands ready to open the door once his companions are ready.
Pooka Bladespinner |
"There are some other doors over here, let's make sure there are still no more threats. Hopefully that book comes in handy..." Pooka nods to Enora.
Are those doors where I moved my token too? Might as well work our way through them!
Edit: Didn't see your post! Either one is fine. Gotta get 'em all anyways.
GM Picatrix |
OK, with Christmas delays finally done and a deadline to finish this scenario looming, I’m going to do my best to keep it moving! Some GM posts will probably be short and light on flavor, although I’ll try not to be TOO railroad-y. Definitely skipping the optional encounter.
The Pathfinders poke around the rest of the structure and don’t find anything of real intertest. A broad stairwell in the center of the dome leads 25 feet down.
Let’s get y’alls tokens in a marching order by the stairway and prepare to descend!
Xichikitte |
Xichi prefers to be last or near to last.
Enora - Arcanist Iconic |
"I would like to be in the middle please. You know ... I small and petite, right!? she says smiling.
Pooka Bladespinner |
"Luna, Hup!"
The wings already worn off, Luna trots over to Pooka at his call and plops her hindquarters down in front of him. He walks over to her right side, scratching her ears as he moves and plants a foot in a stirrup.
"Let's go girl." he half whispers in her ear. As she stands, Pooka swings his leg over, lightly lifting him into the comfortable saddle.
"I'll act as rear guard, Xichi and Enora stay in front of Luna, and we can make sure nothing sneaks up from behind us. Thanks to Luna's nimble feet, we can get past you should we need to line up my lance with another technic league lackey." Pooka smiles.
GM Picatrix |
The Pathfinders descend the stairs. Four doors are situated almost equidistantly around this circular room. To the northeast, the wall is shorn off, and a deep crevice in the floor nearly blocks the opening.
You hear some mechanical whirring, clanking noises going on beyond the shorn wall/crevice.

Suddenly several doors open. Through the doors and around the corner come some robotic-looking creatures. Each of the robots has a low, spider-like body with ten segmented legs. A long, multi-jointed arm emerges from its “back” and terminates in a complex cluster of tools, including a set of pinchers, a cutting torch, and a camera.

Aegekt goes into a rage at the sight of the spider-bots. He is surprised to see that his first attack feels both not-fully-effective and very effective! (Hardness, AND they’re vulnerable to crits). His second attack renders the thing motionless.
Xichi recalls nothing about the mechanical spiders, although his choice of spell seems to work surprisingly well against them.

I'll wait to see what is left when the dust settles. If by some crazy reason the Red is still left due to line of sight/effect, I can do one of my 90 degree turn charges and attack it.
GM Picatrix |
I started detailing the attacks but decided to give the short version: All the bots are definitely destroyed! There’s a bunch of salvageable sky metal that translates to GP on your chronicle, as well as a timeworn rail gun with 5 charges remaining (timeworn info here).
