Round Four: Ben, Mikos, The Keg, Rodi, Goblins
Ben tries to hold on but the door handle is ripped away from the old, brittle wood of the door. The goblins on the other side, surprised by their sudden and immediate success, fall backwards over each other. Ben retreats to the far corner and reloads.
Mikos runs over to aid Rodi against the automaton, stabbing twice. One strike deflects off its armor, but the follow-up snaps something elastic inside. Clanky twitches violently, one arm flailing uncontrollably as sparks fly from its head.
The Keg, too late to block the door, throws up one of the makeshift cots to provide a temporary barricade, then draws his club.
Rodi withdraws, but stays within the dim edge of Mikos's sunrod.
On the north side, the goblins untangle themselves and stand, then start climbing over the upended cot. The first one over cackles at it lands beside The Keg. "Fress dorf fer supper!"
Clanky makes some rough clanking noises and regains control of its limbs. It winds up again and punches Mikos.

Round Five: Ben, Mikos, The Keg, Rodi, Goblins
Ben recites an extended spell, casting three flickering force missiles at Clanky. They slam into the automaton, blasting off bits and chunks of plating and makeshift parts. Clanky begins to make an unhealthy buzzing sound.
Mikos falls back a few steps and draws his rapier. The Keg
casts a quick healing spell for the human warrior before bashing the near goblin over the head with his club. The goblin staggers and flops to the floor, senseless.
Rodi hangs back, unsure where to engage... or flee.
On the north side, a second goblin scrambles over the barrier, kicking over his fallen comrade while he swings at Keg with his dogslicer.

The third goblin comes over next, shoving past and trying to regain her balance on the rubble-strewn floor.
To the south, Clanky stands still, limbs and head twitching in random spasms as more sparks fly from its head and torso. "Clanky, attack. Attack!" he goblin shaman screeches to no effect. The shaman curses and calls upon Lamashtu again then draws a falchion from his back.

Ben casts a sticky glob at the shaman but it sails a few inches over the goblin's head.
Mikos laughs and spins back, driving his rapier straight through the heart of the goblin by the barricade. She silently collapses into the rubble.
Rodi scrambles over to aid The Keg, attacking the last goblin, but off balance. The goblin nimbly lurches out of the way.
The Keg heals himself and swings the club, nearly losing his grip while missing high.
The goblin continues to cackle, slashing again at the Keg.

Ben backs away and casts another tanglefoot vine at the shaman, this time hitting. The sticky vine wraps around the goblin's limbs, slowing it down.
Mikos strides over the remains of Clanky and stabs at the shaman, landing one wound.
The Keg smacks the goblin with his club, dazing it enough to smash its head with a quick back swing.
Assuming Rodi will now attack the shaman instead...
Not to get left in the dark again, Rodi follows Mikos and his light, moving to stab at the shaman. He manages one good hit, but the goblin blocks next strike.
The shaman lays into Mikos with his falchion. He screams in joy as he cuts the man deep. "Die longshanks! Revenge for Clanky!"

Skizzertz continues screaming in a keening wail, calling out for Lamashtu's blessing as he turns his falchion on to Rodi.

The Keg swings his club haphazardly, laughing in the face of the goblin's keening. It provides just enough distraction -- Rodi strikes true, piercing Skizzertz through the neck. The shaman gasps, cutting his screaming short, then slips to the floor.
End of Combat!
You are able to search the rest of the room and the goblin bodies. Among the six sets of goblin leather armor, dogslicers and shortbows, you collect 36 copper, and 95 silver. Skizzertz carried an expert quality falchion, leather armor and a wand. The automaton remains of Clanky -- an arm, leg and its head -- appear to have some esoteric value, perhaps for a collector of odd curios.

Mikos gingerly stands with his hand pressed against the gash in his side. He recovers his blades and sunrod and scowls as he cuts off his usual goblin trophies. "I didn't think you had it in you, Rodi. Well done. That makes fourteen goblins killed. That's a good days work. I think I'm done for now. I imagine that the Keg is tapped as far as healing."

Revealed more of the map to show the exterior corner of the tower.
You can see into the next room from which Skizzertz and Clanky emerged. This curving hall has been badly damaged, but there are intact doors to the east and south, as well as a large double-door leading north towards the core of the tower. The eastern door is ajar, revealing what appears to be a kitchen or laboratory beyond.
The southwest corner of the room has collapsed in a mound of green glass rubble, but a tunnel runs down through the debris, shored up with rough timbers.
The tower is quiet.

Mikos tests the bandage wrapped around his wound. "That'll keep me together enough to move around, but I'm out of combat without a little magical mending." He shoves the dead goblin priest with his foot grimacing at the twinge in his side. "Only thing worse than goblins are demon-worshipping goblins. That one might have had some demon in it. Hit hard enough. You think it was the leader here?"
"Can you tell if any of this stuff is magical, Ben?"

"Unless this here wand is a healing wand, we gathering up goblin ears and headed back for our bounty and some rest. Need to replace me shield as well?", the dwarf holds up the battered and broken thing on his arm.
It is ears we need, right?
Contrary to his own suggestions, Bruno peeks his head into the kitchen/laboratory to see if there's anything of interest there.
"Course, iffun we cleared all the gobbies out, mebbe we should loot them now and cash in on our trip back into town?"

DM mentioned in a sidebar with me that resonance is not required for wands (looks like it's going away in the final version) and it has 10 charges
So, 3 bursts gives us 12 hps each. And if we want to spend 10 more minutes for another medicine check ...

... everyone gains their con modifier back as well.

Mikos burps loudly as Keg's sudsy healing rises up through him. "Well, that's better." He lifts his mail shirt to inspect the red welt that runs over the path of the horrible gash. "How long is it going to itch? OK, I can swing a sword without springing a leak now. Let's see if there's anything of value in that lab anyway." He tosses the metal head and arm in his backpack for good measure.

After a short rest and healing, you search the nearby rooms. You encounter no other goblins.
Kitchen Laboratory
This curving room is a good-sized kitchen, complete with decaying tables, cupboards, and bins. One newer table has what seems like a child’s laboratory set up, with broken cups standing in for beakers. This appears to be where the shaman Skizzertz was working on Clanky.

Mess Hall
Two tables with benches lie scattered around this mess hall. Decaying food of an indescribable nature sits on the tables. The hindquarters of a mangy coyote appear to be the most recent feast.

Skizzert's Room
A plush, human-sized bed stands in this chamber, along with a table holding a bone scroll tube and jars filled with eyeballs, claws, and teeth. Various automaton parts lie scattered around.

Ascending Stairs
Stairs wind upward to the right, circling around a glowing wall of semi-translucent green stone. It seems the Azlanti tower was built around a core of some other material — a spire within a spire.

The Keg checks under the bed and looks around the jars, being sure to grab the scroll tube and check whats in it.
"Eh, now there are still those doors from the central hallway. You guys up for seeing what the goblins were keeping in ... or keeping out?"

Mikos gives a few trial swings to the falchion and the peers at it ambivalently. "Huh, a bit heavier and not as balanced as an Aldori blade, but it does appear well made. I'll give it a try. Anyone want my shortsword? I'll keep my rapier as back up."
At Keg's query, Mikos shrugs. "I wouldn't generally put much faith in goblin judgement, but if something says 'DANGER!', I tend to believe it."

Mikos gazes up the stairs and turns to the dwarves, who might have a little more knowledge of construction. "How many stories do you think the tower has? Any chance we got all the goblins or are there more upstairs?"
'Rodi, you might need to hold onto the sunrod, I'll need both hands for this falchion. Don't you run off though."
