Nerrot Ergaval |

Yikes! Chef is down below I'd think. He never got healed up from single digits.
WHAT? Ya gotta say something! Nerrot's got the healing hex, he can work on getting you above a single digit at least! Backtracking!
Nerrot gives Chef a good look over and proclaims, "OI, dat's a nasty wound ya gots dere! Stand still for'a'sec!" The little man then places his hand on the bigger chef's lower back and pushes a healing pulse into him.Healing hex: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (3, 1) + 5 = 9

GM_Starson |

Sorry, a reflex save to catch is only a thing if you fail a purposeful jump, not if your knocked off. But I like the ingenuity of some of these. I'm gonna say no GM reroll since I'm veering hard into "It's AP so i do what i want!" territory, but i don't think you'd have to push her hard... just with the wind.
Lorq holds out a hand and blasts Yvonne as she falls, causing her to nearly miss the hard wood and instead slam into the water!
Nonlethal: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
Lethal: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
Unfortunately, she hits the water with killer force, blacking her out, and sinks immediately below the waves!
Yvonne isn't killed outright, but she's unconcious and below water in the middle of a horrific storm... But hey, there's a chance!
As for Mort, It's a reflex save to avoid a falling object, so I'd assume the oppisite is true... and unfortunately, Nerrot failed that check. Ivan, wanna try and catch Mort?

Nerrot Ergaval |

What kind of actions and checks would it be to go diving in after her? And water lung requires a line of sight that the waters would break right?

GM_Starson |

Correct on both points. And even with waterlung, your going to have to make swim checks to stay afloat and make your way in the storm... while giving her waterlung would keep her from drowning, she's gonna keep sinking, and that cannot end well... But I suppose one problem at a time.

Nerrot Ergaval |

Sorry about the lack of posts. Still not sure what actions things will take, but I'll take a stab at it anyways:
Nerrot gives a look at the woman overboard and shouts to the crew and people on deck. "WOMAN OVERBAORD! I'M GOIN' IN AFTER 'ER!"
He then sets up waterlung on himself jumps over the edge of the boat and tries to swim after Yvvone. He tries to dive after her and catch sight of her and set up waterlung on her.
Swim: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
He once he has that set up, he tries to swim down and reach the sinking woman and put a healing hex on her.
Swim: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Healing Hex: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (7, 6) + 5 = 18
I also realized that the flight hex allows Nerrot to use Feather Fall at will, and doesn't seem to limit it to caster only.

Ivan the Artillerist |

it doesn't seem so mean tbh, we just had our tank and healer get double hosed by rolls haha

GM_Starson |

Sadly, the last line of the hex says "This hex only affects the witch" which would include the feather fall bit.
Ivan, Mort's only hope is for you to catch him and take some of the damage with a reflex save. Otherwise, he's done, so i'll go ahead and roll it.
Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
.... Of course.
Mort slams into deck and the sound of his spine breaking echoes even over the storm.
Meanwhile, Nerrot dives into the stormy waters, and manages to swim down her giving her some healing. You got super lucky on those rolls...
Yvonne wakes under the water, waves crashing above her and Nerrot looking over her very concerned.

GM_Starson |

Yes! But about 15 feet underwater, thankfully you have waterlung on you, but you need to make swim checks not to sink.

Nerrot Ergaval |

Sadly, the last line of the hex says "This hex only affects the witch" which would include the feather fall bit.
Argh! I knew there was a reason that didn't work! What I get for not reading the full hex, sorry! I'm also operating under the assumption that he had to cut his tether to the ship to go overboard so:
Meanwhile, Nerrot dives into the stormy waters, and manages to swim down her giving her some healing. You got super lucky on those rolls...
Yvonne wakes under the water, waves crashing above her and Nerrot looking over her very concerned.
Nerrot gives a wide grin at the cleric woman and then burbles out something that turns out to be a complete waste of time, before frustartedly pointing up and starting to try swimming up himself.
Can my luck hold? Swim: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Thank-you, RNG gods!

GM_Starson |

Nerrot swims slowly to the surface, but Yvonne finds herself unable to move! Instead she sinks deeper (20 feet)
Ship shift?: 1d6 ⇒ 1
The ship moves 10 feet away from Nerrot to the north.... there is the distinct possibility that it might be moved away and hidden in the storm as he keeps diving down.

Ivan the Artillerist |

Ivan pulls out his elixir of swimming and downs it, "I vas saving ziss for saving my own arse, but Miss Yvonnes is nice enough!" he says as cuts his rope loose and dives in after her and Randu.
Swim: 1d20 + 10 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 10 + 9 = 27
Swim: 1d20 + 10 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 9 = 35 not sure how many "rounds" we have had but here's another swim check if needed.

GM_Starson |

Ivan cuts through the water like a fish, making his way down to Yvonne.
Okay, now do you want to assist Yvonne's swimming (Giving the standard +2) or do you want to swim for her (Which will incur penalties per weight as usual to swim checks.

Ivan the Artillerist |

I’ll give her my second elixir of swimming, that will give her a +10 for an hour.

Ivan the Artillerist |

As in underwater? i believe this scholarly article will answer that.

GM_Starson |

Yup, I agree with that. Yvonne, I'm still gonna need at least 2 DC 20 swim checks, and each one you fail before you reach those two will add 1 more you need to make. If you take more than say, 10 attempts to do it, the ship will be blown to far away, and you'll lose it, and you guys will have new problems.

GM_Starson |

Soon enough, Yvonne is rescued, and Nerrot and Ivan swim back and pull themselves painfully onboard. The purple flame tilts it's head in confusion and then holds up it's hands. In a few minutes, the storm comes to a halt, only a slight drizzle dampening the world. The creature then gives out feelings of happiness as it floats away from the ship, up into the storm clouds.
In the middle of the ship lies the dead body of Mort, his body broken by the huge fall.

Ivan the Artillerist |

Ivan clambers back up on the ship with Nerrot and Yvonne, then plops on deck, splayed out gasping for breath.
"Vat...vas...GASP... zat!? GASP Did it kill COUGH Mort???"

GM_Starson |

Mort does not stir... as the storm slowly abaits, the Captain steps forward, taking her hat off her head.
He died... protecting this ship... he should be given sailor's funeral.
Slowly, folks begin working to prepare his body for the sea. The captain puts a hand on Yvonne's still slightly smoldering body.
Glad to see you made it... that was close...

Ivan the Artillerist |

"Eh Capitan? I do not sink it vise to cast such.... vealth, out to sea vith dear departed Mort. perhaps zee Chef could veild Mindy in Mort's memory? And Miss Yavonne vould look great in zat mythril breastplate..." Ivan says once he stands up, wringing his hands lecherously while eyeing Morts other belongings.

Ivan the Artillerist |

"I don't suppose zere iss a blacksmith on board zat could melt her down to bullets...." he mumbles to himself.

GM_Starson |

Many days go by as the team sales to a port. The Captain takes Mort's body ashore, though she let's the team pilfer his things, and spends the day rounding up some new crew members.
Later in the day, she comes back, hat tipped and steps aside as the two new members of the "Fixers" Walk up the plank.

Corskadai |

A large plesiosaurus with two small budding horns quickly scampers onto the ship. A man steps off his companion. "Greetings everyone, I am Corskadai. This is Dorvuzak. your captain like me has an eye for talent, and I will be joining your crew."

Corskadai |

He grabs a mug from his backpack “Of course. Thank you”

Ivan the Artillerist |

"I vill never remember zose names I am afraid. Instead, I am sinking Corky and....Doory. Yesss zat vill do nicely." Ivan says, shaking Corskadai's hand and getting his own mug out for some of Yvonne's grog."If you please Miz Yavonn?"

GM_Starson |

Did we have another joining? or was it just Corskadai? Sorry, i'm a we bit confused.

Ivan the Artillerist |

I think it was just him and Nessy.

Ivan the Artillerist |

Poke!

Nerrot Ergaval |

A small, and to be perfectly honest, rather dirty halfling wanders onto the deck and stops in his tracks, his eyes widening over the dinosaur on deck. He turns around and rushes back into the hold for a second before climbing back out with an eight legged hairless bear looking thing. He holds it up and points out the dinosaur. "'ook, Kanpo! A DINOSAU'! A 'eal li'e Dinosau'! I'so big!"
He then catches sight of the new man standing next to it and moves in closer, adjusting the tricorn hat on his head and smiling at the man. "Dis ya dino? I a'ways wan'ed'a meet one! So ya comin' on our 'rip wid us, righ'? Well, I'm Nerro' Erga'al and dis here's Kanpo. He's a 'ardigrade, no' no god dang spider!" He then looks down and asks in a much quieter voice. "Can I, ah... 'ide on your dino sometime?"

Corskadai |

“yes small one, you can ride Dorvuzak.”

Dorvuzak |

Dorvuzak looks at his master then at the small morsel then back at his master. He then lowers his head letting out a low growl.

GM_Starson |

Lol, Sorry I'm slow guys. On with the show.
The next day or two passes, thankfully, quietly. The crew shows a visible increase in respect, even the grouchier members giving a nod of acknowledgment to "Lightning Queen" for surviving her ordeal where mort did not. The captain invites the team into her cabin, and she lays out the maps and sighs deeply, staring at them.
Kelizar's Atoll. Kelizar being the great dragon Kelizar.
She sets out the horn piece that has already been collected.
The three reasons to live was originally in a dragon hoard of a dragon named Nicorydine. My husband and the other two captains he teamed with managed to slay her and take her hoard for themselves. Captain Stormeye held his piece with him.... until Nicorydine's son, Kelizar, caught him in his territory and avenged his mother.
She shudders.
Whole ship was sank, almost no one made it, certainly not storm eyes. So we gotta swim down and retrieve it.
She plots a few spots on the map.
So, since I'm not stupid enough to steal from a dragon's territory, the first thing we gotta do is get permission to scavenge. We tell the dragon a part truth... a item of sentimental value sank with a ship he destroyed and we'd like to retrieve it. Then, we get to the wreck site, swim down, grab the three reasons to live, and get out of here.
She gives a sheepish grin.
Sadly, I don't think I'll be helping out much this time around. I don't know how much Kelizar knows about his mother's death... the ship looks very different from when that happened, but the last thing I want is her recognizing me as Warvil's wife. So, one of you gets to play Captain for a bit and barter with a dragon. Volunteers?

Nerrot Ergaval |

“yes small one, you can ride Dorvuzak.”
Nerrot's face flashes over with an excited look for just a second, before the halfling tries to play it off cool. "Ah,good!"
Dorvuzak looks at his master then at the small morsel then back at his master. He then lowers his head letting out a low growl.
Ctaching the look and the growl Nerrot, gives Corsk a slightly incredulous look before turning to the Plesio and giving it a narrow eyed look. He marches right up to the dino, clearly feeling like the thing jsut looked down on him. "'ow look 'ere, Dor... Dino, I ken unde'stand ya see me as small, but don' even dink for a sec ya can unde'es'ima'e me! An' I ain' edible, 'kay?"
The next day or two passes, thankfully, quietly. The crew shows a visible increase in respect, even the grouchier members giving a nod of acknowledgment to "Lightning Queen" for surviving her ordeal where mort did not. She gives a sheepish grin.
Finding the whole "Lightning Queen" title a hoot, Nerrot takes every chance he can to call Yvonne by it, and occasionally when he gets too far into his cups, conjures up an Aggressive Tundercloud a 5 feet over her head and makes it follow her around, taking advantage of the distraction to take out a formerly-Mindy bullet that he'd snitched from Ivan and look at it in peace.

The small halfling perks up. "I 'ould possibly be able ta do dat.My draconic's gone oll rusty, but I ken 'alk up a storm if ya wantin' me ta."
