DM-Salsa |

Wanted to let everyone know I'm still around. I'm not feeling well, so no post tonight. I'll catch up tomorrow.

DM-Salsa |

Loot:
Potion of Barkskin +2
3x Potions of cure moderate wounds
Small masterwork breastplate
small +1 shortsword
Dented crown worth 20 gp
A key ring with several keys
3x potions of cure light wounds
and 120 gp in various coins
Sorry for the delay in getting this up. I've been dealing with some mental issues and it's been affecting my posting. Thank you for being patient with me and I'll be endeavoring to be more consistent.

Morgrym Stonestepper |

As I said, and from someone that suffers from PTSD, I can fully understand that issues come up.
I am a hell of a lot more patient with someone that states they have a problem and it may affect posting.
I am more willing to wait for them to come back, and definitely willing to overlook delays in your posting rate because of it.
Just remember, your own health should always come first.

Morgrym Stonestepper |

lol. on the DC. Just gives us a challenge in getting out. :)
Anyone mind if I grab a potion of CMW.
I will carry the keys and anything else we want to bring along.

Thank you for the kind words. I've been battling depression for most of my life, but I still don't feel that excuses the flakiness I've been showing of late. Explains it, perhaps, but definitely does not excuse it. At the moment, I'm hoping that I'm keeping things at a good enough pace that y'all are still having fun.
Especially since I may have gone a bit overboard with this encounter.

Wayland Egorius |

On the DC, yes, that is pretty high for this level. There is the question of how we all stepped into preset traps simultaneously, or if the fleeing goblins could so quickly regroup and lay traps.
We'll see how this goes. Adding new material to a published AP can present balance challenges; we are not a super-optimized party (and that is something I am grateful for).

Wayland Egorius |

I mean, I admit I am curious.
If we screwed up in such a way that they were prepared for us and we walked into a TPK trap, I'd rather know how. I thought we had a pretty good plan.

Morgrym Stonestepper |

As am I.

DM-Salsa |

Okay, so I tend to set the DC for checks like this at 10 to 15 depending on what's going on. Only a couple of you rolled high enough, so I rolled a random encounter for the type of terrain, and you got goblins. I did roll to see if there were any goblins besides regular goblins as well, just to spice things up. They rolled really well on their perception and stealth checks, so I figured they'd have enough time to set up a trap. I'm pretty sure that y'all could win, even with the disadvantage you'd be under, but I'm not going to have you die from a random encounter, especially when I stacked things a bit too heavily against y'all.
That said, there's a few options.
1) Get free and run.
2) Get free and fight.
3) Surrender.
Entirely up to you, but I'll give you way out no matter what you decide to do.

Morgrym Stonestepper |

For when things always get up close and personal.
I always have at the very least a dagger.
Also useful for cutting rope, twine, small branches.
Every now and again, critters. :)
For myself, Option 2.

Wayland Egorius |

For myself, Option 2. Wayland likewise has a dagger. And should be able to cast spells even from the snare, if he makes a Concentration check.
Even an 8th-level Trapper Ranger could not have made a DC 20 trap to catch all of us. And certainly not in such a short span of time. But if that is something that goblins can do, then I would like to know where we erred and what we should do in the future to avoid this sort of danger. I would like to be able to learn from this and play smarter.
Should we be very specific about who is walking how far in front, and have them carry a 10' pole to test the ground?
Should we remember to Take 10 on Perception checks if allowed? That gives Lazur a 20+1d6 result vs traps.
What would you recommend we do to have this not happen to us again?
For now, Wayland will fight. How far off the ground were we lifted?

Lazur Anil |

I am good with option 2 as well. I figure I should be about 30 feet in front of the main body when scouting that way any traps hit me first and only me. We'll get through this I am sure.

Morgrym Stonestepper |

it will be rough, but I think that we should be able to cut the ropes around our feet.
Stomach exercises notwithstanding,
But anyone with a light weapon, should be able to fight even hanging upside down.
Plus I think we have one free, who can cut ropes to drop us on our heads should help.
however,
I will be busy tonight. Will not get anything else up until at least 0800 tomorrow.

AdamWarnock |

Hey, I just wanted to let everyone know I'm not dead. The past two weeks have been a bit hard on me and I've been working through some issues. I'll be back soon, but I need to take a bit to work through some things. Sorry to do this again, but I should be more consistent once I've gotten through this.

Morgrym Stonestepper |

And the rejoicing was heard all the way to sandpoint. :)

Wayland Egorius |

Still here, still doing okay.
I have some other games on the forum so I will not disappear if this game sits for a bit. Thanks for checking in!

Morgrym Stonestepper |

Same here, working to stay safe, and appreciate the check in.
Will still be here when you decide to pick it back up.

DM-Salsa |

Hey y'all! I wanted to let you know that I'm still alive and I'm still planning on returning to run this. I don't think I'm going to be able to muster the will for the whole AP, but I want to at least get y'all to the end of book 1.
That said, I want to know what y'all want to do. Do you want to continue or call it here and look for a new GM? I can reach out to some people I know and see if they would be interested in taking over.
Either way, just let me know. I know you've not had the best luck with GMs (myself included) and I'd like to make sure you have someone that's as good a GM as y'all are players.

Wayland Egorius |

Thanks for letting us know, and thanks for being willing to see Book 1 through.
I personally really want to continue. This is, after all, the iconic PF1 campaign, and one I have never had the chance to experience.
If you do have people you know who might be interested, perhaps you could ask if they'd want to follow the campaign for a little while to get the hang of the players and our characters. They could get up to speed on things and start prepping for Book 2 while you are wrapping up Book 1. It would make for a smoother transition.

Trig Fanabarellalisa |

As long as you're taking care of yourself, that's what matters.
I'm also with Wayland on this one. Still in it for the long haul, and if you'd like to ask around for a replacement for book 2 then we'd appreciate it.

Morgrym Stonestepper |

I will also echo the others.
Keep care of yourself, and let the rest come as it may.
I also would love to complete this.

Morgrym Stonestepper |

If this restarts over the next couple of days. I will not be on.

Wayland Egorius |

As this has now been marked inactive, should we start looking for a new GM now?
Or GM, do you still think you will be able to finish Book 1?

DM-Salsa |

Unfortunately, I think it would be best to start looking. I hate admitting that, but I have not been able to muster up the gumption to get the ball rolling again.
I truly am sorry for bailing, and I'm sorry it took so long for me to admit that I couldn't find the wherewithal to continue at least to the end of the book.

Wayland Egorius |

@All - do you want to ask Camris to take over?
2-3/week sounds like a decent pace.
I think Rizzenmagnus's idea of a giant table is less appealing (for reasons of either chemistry or balance) and the other two haven't followed up. But four prospective GMs is an abundance of riches.

Trig Fanabarellalisa |

I'm also good with Camris.
I'm not fond of a giant table, personally. I feel like any table with more than 6 players dilutes the experience too much.

Calin Moonbreeze |

Im in two games with GM Camris. I enjoy playing under him.
I am also in two games with Rizzemagnus and he is a blast to play for, but i do have a little hesitancy with the large table idea. I think he could pull it off, there would be some dilution. Though you all would love The elf druid barbarian over there, very nice fellow. kinda shy. until its death time.
Im good for any of the above options sorry im not much help.

DM-Salsa |

Yes, he was killed in an ambush by the PCs after luring him out of Thistletop. They haven't gotten there just yet and have just been ambushed by the goblins themselves.
Feel free to PM me if you need to pick my brain on anything. I had some ideas, but didn't really build up much before burning out.

Morgrym Stonestepper |

I apologize for not being on. But I got hit hard by the flu.
I will be catching up today, and will be back to posting tomorrow.

Trig Fanabarellalisa |

I'm eager to get back into the thick of things but I also don't want to be too pushy. What are the plans for getting back on track?

Morgrym Stonestepper |

Cannot check at work. Will check tonight when I get home.
MY tablet went belly up, and I am on my work computer.
I can access the forums, but cannot reach roll 20.

Morgrym Stonestepper |

Well, just spent the last 2 days digging out from a blizzard that buried our vehicles. :(
Give me a bit of time to get caught up and posting.
