Nabila Al-Qut Min Najm |
Just ahead Nabila spots the curious foreigner, beggar, and two women being assaulted by insects. "I thought you were looking for a fish, not bugs!" she chuckles with a grin as she readies her shortbow. "Back up and give me a clean shot," she shouts.
Chipluck |
With his daggers back in hand, Chip takes a different stance, switching his grip. His grimy, bony fingers flip the rusty pommels around in a flourish, and he attacks again and again...

Fadi you can use burning hands now and after this action you will fall paralyzed for next round.
Nabila Al-Qut Min Najm |
So...bless in 2nd is so much more limited, I forgot how different some spells were at the time I prepped spells. As a result, I am going to risk shooting into melee. Attacking a centipede on Nura since she has so many on her and that should increase the chance I will hit a bad guy.
Not seeing an opening, Nabila takes a deep breath and draws a bead on one of the centipedes trying to bite the woman with the scimitar, hoping for the best and expecting the worst.
Shortbow w/elf, Dex): 20 - 1d20 - 3 ⇒ 20 - (4) - 3 = 13
Damage if hit: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Her arrow flies wide, leaving her relieved she at least did not strike the woman even if she totally missed the insect as well.
Nura Hamdani |
Nura swings again at the centipedes attacking her, trying to get clear of the venomous insects. And once again, her wild blow misses the target.
THAC0 20: 20 - 1d20 - 1 ⇒ 20 - (7) - 1 = 12 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Chipluck |
The dirt covering the garbage rag called Chipluck quickly seeps into his fresh wound, but the super skinny blade machine keeps slicing...

Dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Attack, TWF 2: 20 - 1d20 + 1 ⇒ 20 - (11) + 1 = 10
Dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 3
After attacking he glances over at Nabila, wide eyed, and tries to step out of the way of her arrows if possible/needed.
Fadilah al-Qadib |
Fadilah stumbles back from the centipede swarm, and her gen returns to land on her shoulder, whispering secrets in her ear. She nods and stretches out her hand with the fingers splayed, and arcs of orange fire spray outward, washing over the centipedes.
Burning hands damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Her chin rises slightly as her muscles tense, and then the poison takes hold and her muscles all go rigid, leaving her paralyzed.
Nabila Al-Qut Min Najm |
"Oh, my!" Nabila exclaims as Fadilah drops frozen. She doesn't seem to have taken notice of the other newcomer yet, distracted by the sudden emergency.
Seems there is no check for healing a poison, but also nothing can do to help since it has set in.
"She should live, is anyone else hurt?" she asks.
Chipluck |
So the paralysis starts now, or in 8 hours? Fad I wouldn't worry we can find a place to rest maybe. Old mods like had stuff like this to force more rolls on the random encounter tables I think. Take a peek at Shrine of Tamoachan sometime...theres a poison there that lasts 5000 years. xD
"One of their mandibles got stuck in my calf, but its alright...that part of my body had the least dirt on it. Er...is that...is that an ork with you my lady?"
Nura Hamdani |
Nura sighs with relief and starts to speak, but her jaw refuses to work. This is followed swiftly by her arms, then legs as the poison spread through her body. Then, she falls to the floor, unable to support the weight of her own body.
Nabila Al-Qut Min Najm |
"You are very fortunate," Nabila says as she ties her scarf around the beggar's wound. Nura drops behind her and she gasps. "Very fortunate indeed!" she adds as she turns around to check on Nura. She mutters to herself as she works, "Such a paralytic would be useful. I could potentially disable threats so I am not forced to kill."
"This one will also be fine," she stands and faces Orven. "And you? Are you injured?" she looks the man up and down, but seems to be more interested in his appearance than any possible injuries. "I like your hat," she says with an immodest grin.
Orven |
"I seem to be fine, thankfully. Now that we're not being chased, perhaps we can all take a moment to introduce ourselves while we find a spot to care for those who are paralyzed?"
Orven doffs his hat and bows over it, saying "Allow me to formally introduce myself. I am Orven the Magnificent, wizard extraordinaire."
Maudril Sandcaster |
Maudril drops into the cistern having been following the priestess as requested by the church. He was upset that she had gotten down here so swiftly and he had not and he rounds the corner only to run into a large crowd he was not expecting.
His hand goes to his kopesh but he does not draw and in his gravely voice he asks
priestess, are you alright? I am Maudril Sandcaster, Faris of Najm at your service. What is going on here?
GMEDWIN |
Nahla, Fadi's gen says, "What is a wizard? Wizard Wi... wiiz wiizzzard... sounds like lizard... are you a lizard, Effendi?"
He then sees the ork and says, "I've heard the City of Brass may have a zoo as well stocked as this but I have as of yet not seen the city. Maybe mistress once we get more power and then not have to be afraid of them Daos...
Nabila Al-Qut Min Najm |
"Oh! There really is an ork behind me!" She turns and glances at the newcomer. Poor me, stuck here with an exotic stranger and an athletic half-orc!
"Welcome to Muluk, Orven the Magnificent," the elf flicks her raven hair over her shoulder and holds her chin up high. "I am Nabila Al-Qut Min Najm. Though, just 'Nabila' is fine," she says with a sublime smile on her face.
"Orven is correct, we must make these two ladies as comfortable as possible. And yes, Maudril asked the right question. Just what is going on? I saw the fight and the fish, but I did not expect..." she trails off and begins to look around the area. "But it is delightfully cozy and cool."
Fadilah al-Qadib |
Fadi, as a Shair you can request your gen to get you a cure poison spell.
I can't cast it while paralyzed, though!
Nabila Al-Qut Min Najm |
Well, we can't easily escape without the pirate lady's help anyway, lol. Looks like we might just have to wait it out. Plus, I think Chip is on the right track...
Nahila stands beside the beggar as he listens and examines the wall. She slowly moves her fingers around the section he was listening through, checking to see if air flows.
Elf active door search: 1d6 ⇒ 3 1-2 for hidden, 1-3 concealed.
Orven |
"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, lady Nabila."
When the asked if he is a lizard, Orven says "Little creature, I posess the power to rewrite reality with my mind; although if I am being completely honest, I don't have access to the highest levels of power or extensive amounts of it."
GMEDWIN |
The gen says, "I am from the land of the Marid and I have the ability to just as you say and more."
Chipluck
On the southern wall you see the wall is blocked by some not yet dried plaster.
Orven |
Orven crosses himself when the Evil Eye is mentioned, in a rather odd-looking gesture.
"So, I know what the Evil Eye means where I am from, but is it as dire a threat here as it is in my own lands?"
Nabila Al-Qut Min Najm |
"It is serious," Nabila mutters. She knows she can be prideful and reminds herself to be more humble while down here. "The genies' punishment can ruin lives."
"Tell us about your lands, Orven. We have to pass the time before the other ladies recover."
Maudril Sandcaster |
Maudril moves back from the plaster wall a ways and nudges the party out of the way and then will give a running go at the wall and hit it with his shoulder!

Orven |
"I come from the lands of Amn, home to mercantilism and civility. Also, temperate weather. My master, Otheniel, also known as the master of Dark Flame, has sent me here to collect water from a sacred spring as the culmination of my apprenticeship, which when finished will result in me having the official title of Magister."
"I would appreciate it if perhaps someone could enlighten me on the place to which I have come. I know nothing about the desert, nor any kingdoms within it; my education did not really cover such things."
Chipluck |
Chip was a bit too frightened for a history lesson at first, he paced around the small chamber looking for anything resembling or hinting further at the 'elders'. Finally, he decided the best course of action was to scrape the message away, and put his own in its place: 'tsal eht naht recin tib a etiuq si egassem siht'.
Attending to Orven "You are in the City of Kings..." he said with a hint of sarcasm "...the last tear of the Sakina Canyon, one of the Free Cities of the North coast that cap the Furrowed Mountains..." he goes into more detail about Muluk itself, describing his accounts of the military and culture as best he can. But he ends with "...do not be on the streets when night falls, ajami."
GMEDWIN |
Roll me a lift gate check... In order make a way through you are going to need to pull it down not push it forward.
The gen says, "Your must be confused. Flames bring light they are not dark. It is known, effendi. This is Zakhara the Land of Fate, Muluk is the City of Kings. In the Bazaar a map and compass may be acquired... this too, is also known."
Nabila Al-Qut Min Najm |
Nabila cocks her eyebrow and smirks. "I have heard tales of impossible quests. And to me, bringing water from a far away desert seems to be one of those. Of course, your ways are not necessarily ours, and if you do indeed have the ability to reshape reality, then perhaps it is not so hopeless." She is less interested in discussing things she already knows than in the unknown story of Orven.
Nabila remains outwardly calm when the warrior put his shoulder into the wall. Inside she was boiling over with curiosity. He thinks there is something behind there. I wonder what it could be? And really, why is he here?
GMEDWIN |
The gen says, "I am a being of water, would you perhaps know which water you require. We have sweet water, salt water, mineral water, running water... many different kinds. Water means freedom... life... it mayhaps is difficult from time to time to find in the land of fate but when found it is the best. Always keep a waterskin, Effendi!"
