Crap, I always forget about that casting time on Sleep. In this case, I'm going to handwave it ... people were moving up, and could easily have stayed just out of reach while he finished the spell. The yeti might have managed to hit someone, but I'm ok calling it here. I'll do it right next time! ;-)

If he survives that's a DC 40 Fortitude save or her's dead anyway.

EDIT: Actually, can you power attack on a coup de grace? If not my damage is 24, and the save is DC 34.

The Midnight Mirror

You quickly move up, and Juno lops off the yeti's head. Looking around, you notice that the north wall features an intricate mosaic of monks walking on clouds. A pair of staircases flanks the wall, leading up to a ten-foot-high porch and three sets of wooden doors beyond.

There are doors at the top and bottom of the map, and a set of double doors in the middle that are party open, revealing another set of stairs going up.

Brakkik sniffs the severed head, then shakes his own. "Doesh anybody even know vhat thish thing ish?" he asks before getting distracted with the mural on the north wall.

Brakkik's vote is for the north (top) door. Better to have something solid at our backs.

Jale takes a good look at the mosaic before moving on. He looks at the floor as he walks by the body, uncomfortable with the largely growing pool of blood. Then he focuses on the mural. As he examines it, he mumbles, "Ya, I like that door." Without looking, he points to the north door.

The Midnight Mirror

The mosaic was probably once beautiful, but time and the elements have taken their toll. It may have told a specific story, or may have just been art, but you aren't able to discern anything from it.

Moving up the northern stairs, you check the area for traps and other dangers, but see and hear nothing. Opening the door reveals another set of stairs leading into a rectangular chamber.

Eleven ruined mattresses and a few aged and cracked pots are this room’s only furnishings. A section of the ceiling has collapsed in the northwestern corner of the room, causing the wind to howl eerily as it blows over the building. A series of images has been carved into the still-standing sections of the room’s walls, each image indicating a humanoid in a series of different positions and stances.

Two sets of double doors lead out of the room at the far end.

Brakkik heads forward gingerly, looking for signs of danger such as a weak section of floor or more aggressive creatures.

The Midnight Mirror

After taking a moment to let Zelrora activate a healing wand for Brakkik, Juno opens the door at the far end of the room.

The remains of four wooden training dummies stand in the northeast corner of this wide courtyard, while a few scraggly plants struggle to grow in the southeast corner. A cracked mosaic lies half-buried beneath years of dirt in the training ground’s center.

Standing in the center of the eastern wall is another yeti - again, only the size of a human despite the race's usual giant size. It appears to have been watching the main double doors, and turns in surprise as you open the door from the building.

Zelrora notices the yeti and begins singing, lifting everyone's spirits despite the cold and thin air.

The yeti roars and runs across the open yard. As it gets close to the door, you all feel the effects of its frightful gaze.

Zelrora, Juno, and Brakkik must save vs the yeti's gaze. Anyone who moves within 30 feet of it must immediately save as they cross the line. Thanks to Zelrora's excellent initiative, you all get a +1 on your save!

Brakkik just stands at the door, unable to tear his thoughts away from the memory of the spear driving into his shoulder. It didn't hurt then, but the ghost of the pain flares up now that the adrenaline has worn off.

Brakkik stands, staring in horror at the frightful beast, as Gronkh pulls out a set of goggles to cover his eyes.

Sadaf runs in, ordering Danduun to attack. The dinosaur darts up and takes a small but painful bite out of the yeti.

Jale stares at the yeti, sending his darkest thoughts into the creatures mind. It winces in pain.

Juno gets a solid hit with her axe and draws a line of blood across the yeti's white fur.

The yeti backs away slightly, and focuses its attention on the mighty dwarf. One of its claws is just deflected by Juno's armor, but the other leaves a gash on her neck, and through the pain she feels a horrific cold in the wound.

Everyone is up! Brakkik must save again against the gaze, everyone who passed is immune for 24 hours. Gronkh will have to save when he gets within 30'.

"Oi! Fight fair!" Juno exclaims as some weird magical cold starts to freeze her wounds. She swings her axe at the horribly outnumbered yeti -- apparently not holding herself to the same lofty standards she expects the yeti to follow.

Brakkik shakes his head. "No," he says softly, "got to do shomething."

Taking a deep breath, he steps through the doorway. "Fire in rah hole!" he yells, casket in one hand and powder in the other. "Shtep ashide!"

Brakkik will (hopefully) pass the saving throw, 5 ft step, and ready to throw a bomb at the yeti if Juno steps out of the splash radius (rolls below). GM, will you allow her that retcon since my previous post vanished into the void? Hopefully nobody else gets close to the yeti in the meantime.
