The pathfinder's ferocity easily matches the linnorm's. Torean strikes three times, and, despite its defenses, each blow causing tremendous damage to the regenerating dragon and the comte finally manages to sate his hunger with the life force reanimating the linnorm's corpse. Yet it's Truk who does the impossible. Despite the vastly superior size of his foe the half orc not only breaks out of its coils but manage to flip the creatures on itself!
Staying in a grapple with a constrictor is a bad idea... but what you did is actually awesome anyway Truk!

The Linnorm regains its sight just in time to see Wolgar's huge axe thunder towards its head. The blow connects with tremendous force severing it in one fell swoop. As this happens the sound of a thousand thunders explodes into the sky. Raising your eyes to the sky you can see Kolvi's silouette standing victorious over the defeated worm as well. She then salutes you and the storm clouds dissipate. The sight has surely been visible for miles and people in Frostreach are sure to know about the manifestation. What their reaction will be is anyone's guess though...
It seems you have won and the terrible foe was vanquished... but what about the curse for slaying it?
Wolfgar has to roll a DC20 Will Save or he gains vulnerability to fire.
There's an optional encounter we can play or skip due to time constraint. Would you like to try it or would you prefer to move to the last part of scenario?

Enora - Arcanist Iconic |

Wow!! We won!! Thanks GM! I would rather not fight anymore and return to the roleplay. ;-)

Both are fine with me!
Well done Pathfinders! I think we have done a great job together!
I hope the inhabitat will welcome us back with a great feast, I'm hungrier than before!!!

Torean shouts in triumph. "Your endless reign of terror is over!" He takes his axe out and hacks through the body for anything the linnorm might have eaten until he remembers that it was bones mere minutes ago. He does, however, recover the horns, scales, and fangs of the creature.
I'm fine with ending it, though I'm interested in what the encounter was.

Seems like the majority wants to skip the penultimate encounter. That's ok, it was about a group of raiders from the Coalbraid clan sent to hunt you down for "consorting with the witch". You could have killed them or just talked your way out of the encounter. Anyway...
Your return to Frostbreach is luckily uneventful, although you are sure you hear horses somewhere in the wilderness to the east. As you reach the village, the townsfolk are abuzz about reports of the strange combat in the sky as well as your recent exploits, or at least those exploits as processed by the town’s rumor mill.
With emotions running high, the town council calls a meeting to learn what the you were doing. The Trolltooths and Coalbraids attend in force, each anxious about what you might say and how this could cause the other family to lose face.
"Foreigners! Explain yourselves and the strange portents in the sky. Did your mad search unleash the witch's vengeance on all of us?" one of the village elders exclaims.
You need to explain what happened. I'll tell you what kind of checks may be required based on your explanation of events. You should all take part in thsi

![]() |

My friends! Have you prepare a feast? Because it's a bid day! Today was the end of the threat to your city! Today was the day of truth about Colvi!
For hundred of years, she protect your city from the return of the Linnorm that your last king killed.
Terrorized by the Linnorm's curse he was afraid Colvi find the truth and tries to kill her, but the fey he betrayed help her and the warrior killed in single combat the king.
I'm sorry to tell you that your ancestor made a mistake about Colvi, she was not a witch but a true warrior.
Despite her death, she continue to protect the town by fighting over and over the linnorm's ghost in the cave where the king was entombed with his last warriors.
Rejoice, because we uncover the Truth and lift the Curse upon your city!

Enora - Arcanist Iconic |

Enora nods and steps forward.
"It is important to underline that we are certain that Colvi was an honorable warrior and that the linnorm king feared to loose his power to her ... the king was obviously so paranoid that his personal guards his changing demeanor. We collected all evidence and also found these carvings of the guards in the cavern ... see my copies here. Also, this is a sensible topic: it seems that the former king had some help from the fey to kill his linnorm and was thus in the fey's debt although he never cared to repay that debt!"

![]() |

"Come, see the artifacts we found in the cave. Things Kolvi and the King bore during their life." He points to the axe Wolfgar is holding. "That's the King's own dragonslayer axe. The same one he tried to take off Kolvi's head with. And it's the weapon we finally used to end the threat of the linnorm after Kolvi's spirit has been holding it at bay for decades. Even in death, she wanted to protect the town from the linnorm's return."
If the axe (or any of the other items they found) has any insignia from the king to show it's genuine, Torean will point that out.

![]() |

Wolfgar stands with the party "Yes as my friends said Colvi was an honorable warrior and that the linnorm king feared to loose his power to not a witch but an honorable fighter!" He holds up the axe above his head, with his other hand he points to the dragonslayer axe. "Torean the dwarf speaks the truth. This is the King's axe. We used it to slay the wrym! We seek to rid your lands of any curse, no stain on your families intended!"

Truk nods as his companions speak up. When the eyes of the crowd turn his way he chimes in.
"Colvi was a great warrior, not a horrible witch. She killed a linnorm! She should be remembered as a linnorm king!"
I think everyone else covered the big points. If there's a diplomacy check Truk auto aids with a +12.

![]() |

Either the Comte or Enora: please roll a DC21 Diplomacy check, you get a +4 due to Torean and Truk's help
You show your findings to the incredulous people of Frostreach and a few of them seem dismayed as they consider the notion their ancestors might have committed a great mistake with Kolvi. One man in particular looks at the hunting horn and chainmail you looted from the dead warriors back in the cave:"Where... where did you find those? I recognize the craftmanship! That armor belonged to my great-uncle Eigor! And the horn... wasn't that the carved horn Alvard gave to Hulthod? These were thought lost! Where did you find them? Would you give them back?"

Nice!
Wolfgar looks at his comrades. "I for one would see this family relics returned to you. We seek no profit off of them!"

![]() |

Do you all agree to give those 2 items back to the original owners' descendants?
"The tombs? What tombs exactly? You said many things... about the old King. His axe. The linnorm.... and Kolvi. You claim she was not a witch and that she was an honorable warrior. Tell us her side of the story then" one of the village elders exclaims as the murmur of the people begins to increase...

![]() |

"Come, we can show you the cave. You should see the final resting place of your King and Kolvi anyway. But be careful of the fey. They are protective of Kolvi and her spirit." Torean will help lead any who want to come to the cave.
Torean votes to return the items. Honorable thing and all.

Enora - Arcanist Iconic |

”I would like to take the items for further study to the grand lodge. We do not know if there is any curse on them after all!“

![]() |

Despite Enora's protestations you decide to give the relics back to their owners descendants. They seems pleased with your decision and seem to warm to your claims.
"There will be time to check on the veracity of your words. For now we require a tale. An honest one I might add..."

Enora - Arcanist Iconic |

Enora thinks for a moment.
"Well, as you know, in life Kolvi was a renowned warrior who wished to prove herself against a linnorm and earn the title of King.
King Halvard of Frostreach did not share her enthusiasm though. Being the short sighted little man that he was, he followed Kolvi into the wilderness with 3 of his blood-companions. Halvard, you see was craven in life... they ambushed Kolvi.
She would have succumbed if not for the intervention of the fey who had supported Halvard to defeat the linnorm but were then betrayed by him. So the fey summoned a blizzard, dispersing Havard's riders and allowing Kolvi to face Halvard in single combat. Kolvi bested him and took his head.
Then Kolvi went back home to explain what happened to your ancestors ... as one of Halvard companions preceded Kolvi and poisoned the people against Kolvi's ... this companion claimed that Kolvi had used ice magic to defeat the king.
The people believed him... and hacked Kolvi to pieces. She thus died accused of a crime she didn't commit but for some reason her spirit was pulled to the cave where we found the remains of Halvard.
There she finally was able to do what she was not allowed to do in life... face the linnorm and prevent it from wreaking havok on Frostreach and beyond!
As only here spirit remained to combat the linnorm my companions and I supported her to defeat the linnorm! That is the story!" Enora says with some confidence.

![]() |

Torean nods. "Even her spirit was dedicated to protecting Frostreach despite what the people had done to her. Let's set the story straight and honor her memory and her descendants instead of shunning them."

![]() |

It seems that when the inhabitant put Kolvi's corpse where she killed the king, the fey took it and put it in ancient catacomb where the King defeat the linnorm.
Unfortunately for him, we think that when he killed the linnorm, he was cursed by it! The curse seems to be quite different than the usual one and make him fear the return of the dragon...
It seems that as long the king lives, the dragon could not be reborn, so when Kolvi's spirit arise in the catacomb she fight the linnorm's ghost for century to protect her hometown from the arrising of the linnorm.
Adds the count.

![]() |

"As my friend have said Kolvi was an honorable warrior despite being shunned by the people. She wanted to earn the title of king by killing a wyrm and preserve her name in honor but King Halvard was a coward and betrayed her with guile and poison"

I'd say that'e enough to get 6 successes and get you a second PP
Thanks mainly to the Comte's eloquence the people of Frostreach come to accept thee truth about Kolvi, Halvard and the linnorm's curse.
Your performance is so convincing Halvard companions' descendants actually agree to give you back the horn and armor as repayment for services rendered to the town.
The Trolltooth family name is redeemed and the Coldbraids' take a hit but things don't excalate to open violence and the clans actually make an effort to put the past behind themselves although it rests to be seen if they'll be successfull. The wounds of the generations-long feud are difficult to heal, but at least the process has begun. Likewise, the centuries-old Jarlsblood Witch saga resists revision at first, but the equally dramatic addendum of your exploits quickly gains traction with bards throughout the Lands of the Linnorm Kings.
Venture-Captain Bjersig Torrsen is pleased to learn of your success and congratulates you on a job well done. He books you passage back to Absalom (or wherever you’re bound next) and provides you a glowing recommendation to take back to Lady Gloriana Morilla. He also ensures that she receives a shorter report through magical means so that he can act on the Ulfen Guard informant’s intelligence as soon as possible. The response she sends is troubling, though: various factions and organizations in Taldor are mobilizing for something big, and the Society may discover what that is in the coming days. Lady Morilla does advise, though, that she will need some of the Society’s finest on hand to manage whatever chaos results.
Scenario successfully completed. Good job everyone. The game was reported a few days ago already. I plan to have your CS completed in the next couple of days. In the meantime... thanks for playing!

@ENora & Everyone else: Yes, sorry. I hope to be able to complete your CS soon (things SHOULD be back to a semblanc eof normalcy... I hope)
