I'm late to the party I see... In case you need Keskodai to roll Fort I'll do it in a Spoiler, can't roll for any of the latter checks.
Keskodai lifts his son's container closer to his mustache. "Pay attention Chk Chk, this is how you survive in the wilderness, by being surrounded by people that know what they're doing. That way you get to sit back and enjoy the scenery. We DO NOT enjoy being a mosquito buffet though."
GM Aerondor |
Tolar and Justin notice a perfect tree, and quickly fell it. The precision of their felling causes it to split neatly in two, and soon the nearby vines secure the halves together and into a more than serviceable raft.
You quickly pole across the small lake and end up at the bottom of a valley with your destination almost in sight. However as you work you way up the valley you find a herds of great grazing beasts. There are heavily armored quadrupeds, feathered bipeds with long claws, and massive dinosaurs with long necks.
It looks like you will have to go through the territory of at least one.
Pick one, and you can also make a life science or survival check to get a feeling for which might be safest. As per normal you can all make a check and I'll take the best. Please everyone also make a stealth check to see how quietly you go.

"I believe I've seen this plant before, is it.... NOPE! Not a plant it's moving, get it off me! Don't let it eat Chk Chk...
"What do you mean it was just the wind! Are you sure you're taking us in the right direction?" The shirren looks at Justin, but was not really expecting an answer, mostly trying to divert attention away from himself.

Keskodai doesn't have a good feel for which may be the safest animal herd to try and bypass.

Reynold cranes his neck to look at the dinosaurs, swallowing audibly. "Well, here's to being small enough to go unseen, I hope."

Justin Norveg |
"Given that Chk Chk is in a transparent aluminum sphere he'd likely pass through without any harm beyond more knowledge of the saurian digestive tract than he'd ever want to have."
Spacefarer Redelia |
Justin is able to determine that the huge long-necked creatures are the safest to move through the area of.
The team is able to move carefully without taking any damage.
You move on towards the beacon you are looking for, and find yourselves in a fetid swamp. The air is filled with the sounds of buzzing insects and chittering creatures. There are rickety bridges (acrobatics checks to move across)between chunks of solid land in the swamp. There are also tall rocks which can give cover.
I am uncovering the map and putting you on it but not the enemies; you may attempt survival checks to know where the enemies are before you try to move.
Tolar Buntu |
"Hmm. I don't think we are alone here."
Tolar finds a tall stump to stand on and looks around.

Walking through the sauropod silva...

Reynold Malkin |
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Reynold draws his new zero pistol as he creeps ahead. Let’s hope these reptiles respond badly to cold.
Spacefarer Redelia |
Now I'm feeling really silly; I was waiting for our 6th player to post a stealth roll... sorry, guys.
You find yourself approaching a massive bipedal dinosaur with a mouth full of razor sharp teeth. Grav and Justin may act in a surprise round, after which I will roll initiative. You may start anywhere you want on the small island you are on. The green swampy water is difficult terrain, and the bridges require acrobatics checks to move across.
Justin Norveg |
Justin reaches into his cheek pouch and takes out a large sausage and tosses it to the dinosaur
"Erm, good boy. Girl. Dinosaur. We have food. Lots of food... "
food fight : 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Justin has the wildwise throat augmentation, so that might make sense to the creature. Of course he could just be saying that he is food and tastes delicious...

The dinosaur grabs the sausage and wanders off to gnaw on it.
fight averted
You move to the beacon location, and find bones, destroyed equipment, and other evidence that the Starfinders who left the beacon have long since died. However, the beacon contains information about a larger group of Starfinders that established an outpost on another planet in the Agillae system. The information is encrypted, and it will require time onboard one of the larger ships to decipher.
Luckily, a group of landing craft has just become available and can extract you from the site, so you do not need to backtrack to your ship.
success!
Tolar Buntu |
Tolar helps gather bones as he catalogs found gear.
"Could those things be sentient?"
Tolar takes some photos for later study.
Spacefarer Redelia |
Zigvigix, leader of the Exo-Guardians, gestures at a screen behind them. On the screen, several derelict ships can be seen drifting amid the ring system of an ice giant planet. "Look, look at that! So many ships. They all look pretty badly banged up, so we don’t expect to find any survivors here, but there must be a reason why they’re there. If you can find any intact datamodules, we may be able to uncover what happened. Something destroyed those ships and we don’t know what it was, so choose a functional ship for yourselves that you think can handle any trouble you may find."
Keskodai -Khaoz |
"Chk Chk, this is what other species do with their remains, throw them in a bag or catalogue them. You can always be amazed by the variety in the living mind."
He then proceeds to say a prayer for the souls of the fallen, hoping that they'll find their way to the Lady of Graves.
Justin Norvegicus |
"Heeeey don't go getting her attention over here! Some of these may not be all the way dead yet "
Not having been preparing for the life of a mystic, Justins understanding of the divine is... missing a few pieces.
Reynold Malkin |
Reynold settles into the captain’s seat. ”Let’s keep our distance and try to find a safe route to close the gap. Get those sensors working, make sure nothing nasty sneaks up on us.”
Grix "Grav" Gorrixas |
Grav will start looping around the outskirts working his way towards the center of the ships, waiting on any feedback from the science officer to direct a more deliberate path
fly casual: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
Tolar Buntu |
"Better safe then sorry."
Tolar double checks that the weapons are all in good shape. Assuming all is satisfactory he'll sit in the turret for now.
Keskodai -Khaoz |
Keskodai double checks that Chk Chk is safe, and able to see the screens before turning his attention to them.
"I think this is the first time I'm in charge of shooting, what does this button do?" He points at the large RED button on his panel.

"Some of this looks familiar..."
Spacefarer Redelia |
You approach the closest wreck (a Starfinder ship), and are surprised to see that it looks like it was destroyed by Starfinder ship weapons. You investigate another wreck, and find the same thing. As you finish looking at a third wrecked ship (finding the same result again), you are hailed by an unknown ship. Your scanning is unable to find any operative ship that could be the source of the hail.
Reynold Malkin |
Reynold scowls. "Pick up the signal, I suppose, but be on your guard. These ships we destroyed by friendly fire. Don't trust whatever message comes in."
Justin Norveg |
"On Agiliele 5 they messed up our landing gear through the com systems. Maybe we ought to answer with something other than the ships systems, or disconnect the two completely so they don't do the same to our weapons systems? "
Spacefarer Redelia |
We'll say that you did something along the lines of putting the communications in a sandbox for safety, OK?
When you answer the hail, you hear a human female voice. "I am Katryn Mathius, captain of the Starfinder ship Empyrean Eye. Who are you, and what are you doing here?"
please roll either a bluff or diplomacy check when you answer. This is a standard check that allows aid another.
Tolar Buntu |
"If that is a Starfinder ship we should tell the truth. If it isn't then we won't be fooling them with a lie."
Tolar gets himself ready for a fight.
Justin Norveg |
Justin will aid the diplomacy check if there is one
diplomacy aid: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Assuming he isn't hushed by Reynald
"Squeeee survivors! I'm Justin Norveg of the Pegasus Six . We're starfinders here to rescue you. Do you require any assistance? We're pretty handy with tools "
Knowledge culture to see if There was a ship with that name in the scoured stars, with Katryn Mathius either as a captain or someone that might reasonably become captain after a few of the other captains didn't make it??
knowledge culture: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (18) + 17 = 35 +4 to recall knowledge (which he'll take the time to google her assuming the torpedoes don't start flying now)
Reynold Malkin |
Reynold opens the communications. "This is Reynold Malkin from the Starfinder Society fleet. We're here to find and rescue survivors from the Scoured Stars incident. Where are you located?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33
Spacefarer Redelia |
"We're right here; you're the ones who are phase shifted with the Material Plane. What technology is this?"
dodge the question with a Bluff check, or give a plausible explanation with a Computers, Engineering, Mysticism, or
Physical Science check.
Justin finds that there are not many records, but there does appear to have been a Starfinder captain with that name.
Grix "Grav" Gorrixas |
"uh, that's pretty weird. We're on the material plane, and as far as I know, these radios don't work across the barrier into the drift or any other plane... so what's up? Anyone got any ideas?
Engineering assist: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Reynold Malkin |
”Just a new variation of Drift technology that transfers to the Ethereal Plane. No big deal. Do you know what happened here?”
Bluff: 1d20 + 16 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 16 + (2) + 1 = 39
Dang, where were all these 20s in the combat encounters?
Spacefarer Redelia |
"We were conducting a scientific mission looking for rare minerals on First Seeker Jadnura’s orders when the force field appeared. After all of that, we’re just trying to survive. Did you come to kill me like the others did?"
Bluff or Diplomacy check to convince her of your peaceful intentions or Intimidate to point out you would have already attacked if you wanted to destroy her ship. A Sense Motive check first can help you choose your words more carefully.
