in the pitched darkness none of you can truly see what you face, yet the hissing is audible...
while you cannot see the creature in the darkness you can hear it and tell that it must be roughly within thirty feet of you...

ack, forgot you did Artor all I remember about the core races was that only half orcs had darkvision my mistake...
Before you a massive snake with black scales lurks, while you cannot see all of the snake you can see that it is large... Very large (at least seven feet tall
GM Xen'Dragon |
As Kyrso casts the spell all of you see the serpent in it's terrifying grandeur... The beast is easily ten feet long and exceptionally wide, it's body is nearly as wide as a small beer barrel. The creature is almost entirely black in coloration but has white stripes covering it's body like some form of ribcage, the snake's snout is also white...

Kyrso |
Kyrso quickly summons 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Celestial Eagles as close to the beast as possible and commands them to attack! Assuming Kyrso is close enough they will be summoned immediately adjacent to the snake, and all full attack.

The eagles attack with great fury, yet most of their blows do nothing against the snake's glistening, resilient scales... Even the blows that make it through seem to not have their full impact... The snake turns it's focus to the eagles and bites one with exceptional hatred, killing it...

it is now round 2(note on the creature/encounter table I'm using it is only used during "exploration" or "journeys" scripted events like the siege will be CR level (relatively) however during exploration and journeys encounters may not be CR equivalent (this applies both ways a random encounter/creature could be way above you in CR or way below you and anything in between))
Kyrso |
The eagles continue attacking...

Kyrso cast a Ray of Sickening:
touch attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Fortitude DC 16 negates
GM Xen'Dragon |
oops even the gm forgot it was snake's turn...
The snake with great effort rears up and spits at Artor... The spit as it strikes the dwarf smells of acid and poison...
attack1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 (this is a ranged touch attack), damage1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Artor must now roll a fortitude save (dc 18) or suffer 1d2 dexterity damage..
Artor |
Artor strikes back at the creature.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 for 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 dmg.
Confirmation roll 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 for 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
I am almost thinking Artor should take a level of barbarian so he can truely rage against all the creatures that want to eat him.
GM Xen'Dragon |
And I would even lift the no Lawful alignment for it, as while I can't see a LG barbarian I can see a LN and especially a LE barbarian (Genghis khan anyone)...
Your sheer rage empowers your blow to slay the creature, you have decapitated it in a shower of gore...
Ormak if you want to you can now examine the creature again to figure out what sort of fell beasty it is (if you wanna take 10 you can)

yeah, ghengis khan makes sense.
GM Xen'Dragon |
you hit the mother load, in addition to the previously posted information concerning the snake you also get this
Is'chom are dreaded serpents that have haunted the drow for a long time, they were at least according to drow folklore and tradition serpents that the giant's took and altered via powerful magic to hunt down the drow during the age of rebellion against the giants. Whatever the truth is these serpents are feared by the drow and are known to hunt down those who are drow or who have recently consorted with them (via the scent of drow upon those the snake targets). The Is'chom while aggressive by snake standards reaches a new level of aggression that borders on hate when it smells the scent of Drow...
