Three days walk from here lies the ruins of an ancient fortress from the age of giants, it fell to invaders from the black ocean and then served as the headquarters of those invaders for millennia. After the invaders returned to the black ocean the ruins have been a death trap for all... Legends say that deep in the bowels of the fortress the invaders left behind an ancient device called in your tongue the "Ravager". According to myth it possesses the ability to pierce any mindward and override any will, with it the invaders pried the secrets of the giants from their leaders. By doing this they overwhelmed every foe they encountered, until dragonfire scorched all of Xen'drik....
you will be finding the shaman first and then Drask, should have worded it differently (what I get for posting before the first cup of coffee).
You all go over to the "stables" and see that your host wasn't kidding, a massive four foot long scorpion in the clan's colors skitters before you. The scorpion is chattering madly with the shaman, it seems he is talking to the pack scorpion...
Ormak:
The shaman is speaking the druidic tongue and is clearly commanding the scorpion to be obedient, loyal and most importantly to NOT sting its new traveling companions. Using the druidic tongue as cover the shaman also tells you to speak to him in the tongue under the guise of communicating with the scorpion itself.
Ormak smiles slightly at the sight of the scorpion and the Shaman communicating. He then speaks to the shaman in the ancient tongue of those who serve nature.
Drudic:
"Good morning, honored Elder. I am Ormak." He says politely, and with a touch of formality as a way of greeting.
You seem to be an earnest young one out to experience the world and learn of nature's many mysteries... As you have proven yourself an ally of the Drow I believe that it is safe to show you a few secrets of nature only known to select drow. Of course I need something from you, you will find the reward well worth it for I can show you how to shift your form into things that your homeland has not exposed you to... However you must be willing to retrieve something from the ruins for me, are you interested?the shaman can teach you to add a new transformation to the wildshape ability, want to be Ormak the scorpion?
"of all the unnatural beasts, I never thought I would see one as ugly as that. I guess it has the advantage that it can defend itself, but who can trust a beast of burden that can easily kill them?" artor stands behind the druid. His weapon planted upright beside him, held in his left hand.
Ormak bows deeply to the Drow "I would be most honored to learn anything you have to teach me, and gladly will I accept any request in return for such knowledge, revered Elder"
The shaman turns his head in annoyance at the Dwarf, while he can't tell what the dwarf is seeing it seems pretty obvious that the shaman gets the general gist of it from the dwarf's body posture.
Druidic:
As I was saying, you are not the first to visit the ruins. Years ago the former chieftain, Xipotizil went to the ruins to recover an important drow artifact... It is known as the Stinger of Vulkoor, the great spear given by Vulkoor to his first priest who would then launch the drow rebellion against the giants. It is important for the clan who has the spear commands great respect and sometimes outright obedience. This is required if the drow are to survive the coming years, unless our people stand united under one leader we will fall to outsiders. The thranians could have conceivably wiped out this village, if the drow do not unite they will fall into death and they with never wake up... To command the scorpion, simply speak to it in the tongue we are now speaking in. She has been instructed to obey you and will carry both your food and loot from the ruins. Do not take her into battle if you can avoid it however, as while she can defend herself the pack scorpion is not one of our war scorpion and she can be sluggish and slow.
Artor doer exactly have high charisma, I figured one of the ways that might manifest itself is through him speaking his mind, even when it would be better not to.
Don't worry Artor, good roleplay is important... Once the roleplay with the shaman is complete your three day adventure through the desert/jungle of xen'drik begins!
Yea, sorry. My RL gaming group met last night and today was a little rough as my doc cut off a lot of the dead skin on my crushed toe, so I've been in a fair amount of pain tonight.
Druidic:
"Gladly shall I do my best to recover such an important artifact to your peoples and do not worry about the scorpion, I will be able to handle her. Does she have a name?"
Your journey through the desert in uneventful, the scorpion faithfully follows you and as your first day in the journey begins to end you see a series of building in the distance...
Ormak has been leading Shalista, often pausing briefly to chat with the scorpion. Shortly after the last break, he spots some buildings in the distance.
Kyrso has trouble seeing the buildings due to the bulk of the party being in front of him, the others however see that the village is clearly drow... Who else has so many banners with scorpions emblazoned upon them, yet the village seems empty and the docent unmarked received is shimmering lightly...
As you all walk in you see that the village is deserted, then the docent begins to glow a dark purple and Unmarked is lifted into the air...
Unmarked:
You see drow they are all frozen in place, each one is awake you can see it in their eyes yet they cannot move. Then you see the warforged, interspersed among the drow they are like you including the fact that they possess docents similar to yours. They gather up the paralyzed drow and put them into strange man sized purple crystals, as they do this one of the warforged glows brightly. The warforged lifts up into the air and the orb becomes an even darker shade of purple, a black hole seems to open in the middle of the orb the warforged wears. As he falls to the ground you see that his eyes glow and then you hear it speak.Prepare these drow for ascension...
As the vision fades you fall to the ground and orb reverts back to it's normal color...
You saw crystals in your vision but you see none now, you only get the feeling from the vision that whatever "ascension" means it won't be good for the drow. Now roll a knowledge psionics check to get more info on the docents in your vision.
Knowledge Psionics 15:
The orbs are strange, yet you believe that they are some sort of communication device...
Knowledge Psionics 20:
Judging from what you saw and your own knowledge it seemed that warforged were somehow... "possessed" as if the orbs either housed some sort of "intelligence" or acted as a receiver for said "intelligence".
no taking twenties (for all intents and purposes you can take a twenty on a skill check if you have one day to devote completely to it) however taking ten is perfectly acceptable so long as you aren't in danger...
I'm just the type who thinks taking twenty is what happens when the wizard to solve an arcana check pulls out all the bells, whistles and halflings... First he grabs the crystal ball and asks for the answer, when it responds with the number "8" he summons a pit fiend and demands the answer... When the spoke and rubble is cleared and the pit fiend has summarily been dismissed the wizard interrogates his Halfling servant...
