Glad to hear it! I hope you are enjoying yourself :)
I'm crossing my fingers that it will get to 40 degrees next week to melt the 8" of snow in my yard!
DM medlii
I'll be traveling for work on March 9, 10, and 11. I should be able to post Monday and Tuesday, not completely sure about Wednesday at this point. Unfortunately, I don't get to go somewhere fun like Trey, I'm just going to snowy Pennsylvania!
DM medlii
I didn't put anything together, I leave that up to you guys... if anyone puts something together, let me know and I'll link to it. I wrote up what you've found since coming to Old Korvosa here.

I currently have the wand of Dim Door, and if no one else takes it I would grab the amulet of Nat Arm +2.
Currently, Trey has the wand of soundburst.
Trey or I either one could use the wand of prot from energy.
DM medlii
Am I understanding that Lantressa and Trey are voting to take the ladies back to safety and then going on to the Arkonas, possibly with a short detour to look at the Gray Maiden's outpost? Once everyone agrees, I'll post.
Cephelo
Ok, I took (and updated my character sheet):
mantis mask
Glamered chain shirt +2
Cloak of resistance +2
Belt of incredible dex +2
The updated sheet is here.
Sorry DM, but you'll have to update your link.
Game on!
DM medlii
Wow, I didn't realize that 10:15pm on a Sunday was a popular time to post! I'll reply to Lantressa's question, but you are welcome to ask more questions of your host, of course.
Thank you Cephelo, I updated the link.
Lantressa Darksong
Actually, it was bad timing on my part, I meant to post earlier in the day and remembered at the last moment. I was exhausted all day on Sunday, had a very late game night the night before.
DM medlii
Giving Trey a chance to respond before continuing, I'll continue tomorrow evening.
Lantressa Darksong
Was kinda waiting to see what happens before I post anymore.
DM medlii
I was waiting for someone to open the door. It doesn't really affect gameplay, so I will railroad you to the next room.
Lantressa Darksong
Ah, I got the impression that he had to do it for some reason.
Lantressa Darksong
Understandable and good reason.
DM medlii
Pick a door, any door! What will be behind it? A fabulous prize? A tiger? A goat? Maybe a new car!
Cephelo
Pick a door, any door! What will be behind it? A fabulous prize? A tiger? A goat? Maybe a new car!
Dungeon crawls are not very well supported by this gaming medium so I suggest we come up with a protocol (i.e., always choose the door on the left if there are not distinguishing features among them).
Lantressa Darksong
I got the impression that we were heading to the door behind the illusory wall that Trey found, was I incorrect or is that how we got where we are now?
DM medlii
So here are the choices. I will post the order here, then I will roll 1d4 for which door you are going through in the next post.
1: Single door in the large cavern (northern door on slide 2)
2: double door in the large cavern where Typhon heard a faint sound as if something was moving on the tile floor (southern door on slide 2)
3: double door at your current location (northern door on slide 1)
4: hidden double door at your current location (eastern door on slide 1)
Please give some thought as to how you want to proceed through the rest of the dungeon, such as always turning right, or naming someone the leader during the dungeon crawl, or any other ideas you may have.

Just a heads up, I will be going to Pittsburgh Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. to visit my Aunt. she has Cancer and we don't know how much longer she will be around. Doctors said she can no longer travel.
not sure on posting ability during that time.
DM medlii
I'm sorry to hear that. Safe travels and best wishes to your family.
I will be traveling for work Thursday evening. Not sure if I'll be able to post tomorrow or not.
Lantressa Darksong
I will be going out of town June 3-7 and will have limited internet availability most likely so feel free to bot me during that time frame.
Lantressa Darksong
Wonder where Ty has gotten off to?
Cephelo
Guys, it's been a while since I've been able to dedicate the time to the game that it warrants. I'm currently swamped at work and don't foresee a break in the next couple of months. As such, it's best that I leave the game and perhaps give someone else an opportunity to play and contribute. Deal with my PC as it best suits the game. Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
DM medlii
Several different topics here, so bear with me.
I'm sorry to hear that, Cephelo. I'm glad you were able to join us for awhile. If things turn around, you're welcome to rejoin us. Thank you for taking the time to share that and not just vanishing.
---
I'd like to thank Trey for pointing out that you guys should be level 10 by the end of this adventure, which you are relatively close to at this point. That's 100% my fault. I suggest jumping to level 9 at the end of this fight, and then level 10 at the end of the adventure, unless you have other suggestions.
---
So a couple of questions/ thoughts. With Cephelo leaving, that brings us down to three or maybe even two players. I PM'd Typhon last week, but haven't heard back. He could still be in the process of moving and getting internet set up. Please weigh in - this game is about you guys having fun and developing the characters you've made. If people aren't having fun, then what can we do to make the game enjoyable? Do you want to continue the campaign? If so, there are a few ideas/options. Let me know what you think, or have some ideas of your own.
Option 1: Recruit more players. I will require applicants to have a background specifically related to the story and would give some options for how/why they want to save Korvosa.
Option 2: Continue with 2-3 players. I can tune the combats down, or turn up the amount of gold/magic items to make this possible.
Option 3: Roleplay/ speed up the remainder of the story. If you are curious to know what happens during the rest of the story, I can accelerate it, remove combats, and focus on key combat encounters and roleplaying scenes so your characters can experience the major points of the story.
Option 4: This could go along with any of the other options. The next two books take the PCs out of Korvosa, which I feel doesn't fit well with the theme of saving the city from Queen Ileosa's destruction. I've found info from other DMs on how to keep the party in Korvosa while still working on overthrowing the queen. This method could potentially allow individual party members to go on some solo missions to work towards that end goal, or could continue as a group if preferred.
Lantressa Darksong
Sorry to hear that Cephelo, you'll be missed.
As for the rest, I definitely want to progress somehow. I'm usually good on skipping/hand waving most thug encounters, they are a waste of time in a pbp and combat always seems to be the thing that causes problems.
As for following the story out of the city or staying in it I don't honestly know why it even does that. From the blurb I never really understood why you suddenly leave and go into the wilderness and I would be more than happy to stay in the city to work towards the goal of kicking out the queen.
I would also prefer recruiting a few more players over running with just 3 (or two?).
As to the current encounter, if we are that far behind on levels and now players, and since it's pretty hard to insert people into the middle of a fight, I'd almost suggest we run, really fast, and let the two monsters duke it out, they can probably pretty safely annihilate one another and save us the work. It seems like a battle long coming and means we could easily deal with whoever survived later.
DM medlii
Trey, what are your thoughts on next steps and how you'd like to continue the campaign?
If you are both interested in recruiting more players, I will get something up this weekend so potential players can take a look.
Trey Merosa
I wouldn't mind more players.
it would make continuing much easier.
If Ty is officially gone that puts Trey as the last of the mostly original group.
as for the current encounter...
in character trey would not just run away.
but for ease of playing it makes sense to run away.
I do want to continue... I really have enjoyed this game and the character development.
Lantressa Darksong
Ultimately, if Trey won't run away from the fight Lantressa won't either. She's bound herself to the group by now, she just doesn't see the sense in fighting them both at the same time.
Lantressa Darksong
Ah, got, we mean the dame thing just saying it differently. Or do you mean Stan by and watch the fight then deal with the loser? My reason for doing what I did was using their distraction to try and find Vecarlo since we're still looking for him. If you'd rather wait for the fight to end then deal with the winner that's fine as well.
Lantressa Darksong
Ah, so wait for them to finish, turn on the winner and then continue searching for Vencarlo, that's fine, assume Lantressa stops and waits rather than follows her stated action.
DM medlii
Got it! First, I will post to recruit some more players. If I have time tonight, I will also resolve the fight between Vimanda and Sivit. They are both similar CRs and fairly tough, so it might take awhile (both have multiple attacks and damage reduction). As soon as this fight is over, you'll be level 9!
DM medlii
I'll be traveling for work Tues, Wed, and Thursday, but should be able to post.
If you guys have any thoughts on the applicants, let me know!
DM medlii
To Kaddoc, Halfik, Damian, and Gideon - Welcome to the game! I am working on some intro posts for each of you today, and should have them up later today/ tonight. Please don't feel like you need to rush and jump on a story hook. I am introducing everyone slowly for a few reasons - it feels a little more natural if you don't all meet at the exact same moment, especially with your varied backgrounds, and because Trey and Lantressa are in the middle of a dungeon crawl which would be difficult to jump into. So for most of you, we'll go back in time, compared to where Trey and Lantressa are right at the moment to go over some key points in the story line.
In the meantime, please update your character pages as well as your signatures if you haven't already. In your signature, include your HP, initiative, perception, AC, touch AC, flatfoot AC, and saves.
FYI, I usually post once a day, in the evening. If I'm waiting for folks to respond or something during combat, for example, or am on the road for work, posting may be less frequent.
