Retired to Taldor?

Seamus looks at the group for a moment and finally says, "Well Autumn or I weigh the least, and I don't mind going first, someone give me a rope to tie off with and I will try the frozen creek."

what kind of skill roll are we going to need for crossing?

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

make a reflex save DC 15 Seamus. The ice is thin there due to the elementals shaving it to form themselves.

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

I don't think he's actually tried to cross yet...

"Heh heh hold up there. Why risk getting yourself wet in this blasted chill when..."

Paletress brings forth the ten foot pole.

"We can do it proper? Heh... best purchase made today."

Male Half-Orc Cleric of Groetus (Lvl 1)

"Brilliant! Good thinking! I... am proud to know you."

Caan straightens his robes, watching the group's efforts.

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

I would not have told him about the reflex or the thin ice if he had not already committed to the action so please don't game me:) He committed to it in Roll20.

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

Hope he has a spare pair of boots then!

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

Will you hold the rope for him then?

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

I'll pull him back if I can. Paletress isn't about to let people test ice with their feet. I'd not realized the tracks went across the stream or she would have been more proactive.

Retired to Taldor?

sorry guys, the pole idea was a better one, just didn't realize, I will be move patient the next time!

as Seamus takes the end of a rope from Paletress, he heads out onto the ice. moving slowly testing it as he goes.

reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

The ice breaks in one square but you are able to avoid falling through.

Retired to Taldor?

Seamus avoids the hole in the ice and makes it to the other side, looking around quickly, he calls back "There is a hole in the ice! Do you want me to tie the rope to something or just try and hang on to it?"

perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

"Hang onto it, heh. I'll test the ice nearby and see if there's a saferplace to hoof it across... heh heh. The horse definitely can't make it across here."

Paletress begins testing the ice with the pole, trying to see where it would be thick enough to support her weight and that of their packhorse.

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

Paletress finds three more thin spots in the ice in a diamond pattern, but she finds a path across. On the other side you find a body.

Retired to Taldor?

while Paletress is testing the ice, Seamus is carefully searching the body, too many surprises out here first the chest, then the snowman, lets be careful checking for traps first then possessions.

perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

The dead body of Old Man Dansby, a farmer from Heldren, lies here. He chased a couple of winter-touched sprites who were stealing crops from his fields into the forest and ultimately fell victim to the ice elementals.
Treasure: A former soldier of Taldor, Dansby kept his posses sions in good repair, and they remain with his body. They include a composite longbow (+1 Str) with 12 arrows; a dagger; a masterwork handaxe; and a pouch containing
14 gp, 25 sp, and 18 cp.

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

Paletress eventually manages to find a path across the ice capable of supporting everyone's weight. Stepping onto the far side she calls back, "One at a time, heh. Don't crowd across!"

She walks over to Seamus and the body, noting the bow. "That might be a good bow for you or Spar, heh heh. Hmm... nice hatchet. We aren't heh heh planning on burying this guy are we?"

Retired to Taldor?

Seamus smiles and tucking the money into his pouch and the dagger in his belt says "Never trained with the bow or handaxe, so someone else can use them, burial would be tough in this weather." thinking to himself, and I don't want to wait for the fairy's to come back he then asks Paletress "Can you follow these tracks? Do you think they are our kidnappers?"

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

"Humanoid, heh, and a day old by the look of things. Fits the timeline nicely, heh heh."

Paletress turns as Sparhawk makes his way across the creek and calls out. "Hey Spar, you and longbows get along? Heh."

I ain't gotta roll another survival check to follow the tracks, do I?

Male Half-Orc Cleric of Groetus (Lvl 1)

Caan's not to worried about burials. I did try and post a short prayer, but the site crashed.

Male Human Magus (Bladebound Eldritch Scion of Destiny) 2; HP 20/20, Init +0, AC 15/FF 15/T 10; F5+4, R +0, W +3; Per +4; CMB +4 CMD 13

Sparhawk nods, "I can fire a bow decent enough, neighbor."

He takes it and slings it over his shoulder, and then sets the dead man ablaze in a small pyre while Paletress looks for tracks. "Learned a long time ago the dead need to be buried, or burned if you can't bury them. Never fun when they get back up."

Male Half-Orc Cleric of Groetus (Lvl 1)

"I wouldn't say never!" Caan barks a short laugh. "There's nothing more... freeing than hacking through a few risen!

The half-orc gets serious, patting Sparhawk on the arm. "I think he would have thanked you, if he could."

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

"I wonder if he has family," Paletress comments, otherwise fascinated by the flames. "Should check on that, heh."

Retired to Taldor?

Seamus asks Caan, "You were from here abouts, did you know the man?" As Sparhawk prepares the pyre for the local man Seamus takes the opportunity to check the perimeter keeping an eye out for any thin unusual.

perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

Caan roll a knowledge local please to see if you know him DC10

Male Half-Orc Cleric of Groetus (Lvl 1)

"I never knew the old man. There were a lot of farms around Heldren though. I rarely made it out of the hamlet proper!"

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

The dead body of Old Man Dansby, a farmer from Heldren, lies here.

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

"I wouldn't want his family to wonder, heh, if he had one. Wouldn't be right."

Paletress makes a mental note of the location on the map.

"Thousands of heh tiny tragedies heh heh. Little things that heh heh seem small but so few stop heh heh heh to think about those left behind heh heh heh..."

She stares at the fire as her comments seem more and more distressed. Suddenly, her eyes go cold, and she looks to the trail.

"I think I shall kill them for this. Whoever brought this cold. Heh. I care not for some ice-queen's design. It will be for this. Heh heh heh."

She turns and makes her way to the trail, then looks back at the others expectantly, eyes like ice.

Retired to Taldor?

seeing that Paletress is ready to continue following the tracks, My focus is on rescue, but if she wants retribution, who can blame her Seamus gathers the horse's lead rope and begins to follow her, crossbow in hand gently pulling on the lead rope, speaking to the horse as he goes. "come on boy, you know I really should have asked that lady your name, huh? Oh well, you probably don't care as long as I feed you, right?"

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

The trail begins to climb a ridge line to the south beneath snow-laden trees. The prints of boots and horses mar the fresh fallen snow on the trail.

Retired to Taldor?

easy enough to follow Looking at the tracks as the trail climbs the ridge line to the south, as he looks carefully into the tree line Seamus points out, "Their certainly not concerned about covering their tracks are they?"

perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 looking into the trees for potential ambush, well that was about a waste

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

You don't see anything Seamus, but you do hear voices ahead.

Retired to Taldor?

Seamus leans forward and quietly tells Paletress, Shhhh, I think I hear voices

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

Paletress slows, and attempts to listen as well.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Stupid dice roll wierded out on me... and then when I correct the problem, it decides to be a jerk. Great.

"I hear wind, heh."

Sparhawk moves a bit closer, pulling out his crossbow again, but will lag abit back as he has never been very quiet, or sneaky.

Retired to Taldor?

not sure the best way to handle this, Seamus dropping the lead rope for the horse, quietly whispers "Do you want me to sneak up there and see what's is going on? Or should we all just rush them in a big surprise?"

Male Human Magus (Bladebound Eldritch Scion of Destiny) 2; HP 20/20, Init +0, AC 15/FF 15/T 10; F5+4, R +0, W +3; Per +4; CMB +4 CMD 13

Sparhawk nods, motioning to his eyes and pointing ahead.

Retired to Taldor?

Seeing Sparhawk motion with his eyes Seamus slowly begins to climb up to the ridge line, to the south, beneath snow-laden trees. what are you doing Seamus, this is crazy keeping the crossbow in hand, Seamus keeps low, moving slow, till he can see what's going on.

You see three bandits quarrelling over their share of the loot. They don't appear to notice you.

Retired to Taldor?

Seamus carefully moves back down the hill, he quietly goes to the group, there are three bandits quarrelling over their share of the loot. They didn't appear to notice me, do you want to sneak back up and quietly jump them, or do you want to approach them and offer them a chance to surrender?" looking at the team for the method they want to use to take the criminals, but keeping his opinion to himself. I think I would rather bushwhack them, but I'm not in charge.

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

"Get into position and ready to fire, heh. You know how I will proceed. Heh heh heh..."

Paletress pulls out her longsword and prepares to move up the trail.

Retired to Taldor?

Seamus, crossbow in hand, follows Paletress back up the hill, seems like its going to be the easy way, lets hope they don't hear us coming
