make a reflex save DC 15 Seamus. The ice is thin there due to the elementals shaving it to form themselves.

brvheart |

I would not have told him about the reflex or the thin ice if he had not already committed to the action so please don't game me:) He committed to it in Roll20.

brvheart |

The ice breaks in one square but you are able to avoid falling through.

Paletress, the Laughing Blade |

"Hang onto it, heh. I'll test the ice nearby and see if there's a saferplace to hoof it across... heh heh. The horse definitely can't make it across here."
Paletress begins testing the ice with the pole, trying to see where it would be thick enough to support her weight and that of their packhorse.

brvheart |

Paletress finds three more thin spots in the ice in a diamond pattern, but she finds a path across. On the other side you find a body.

brvheart |

The dead body of Old Man Dansby, a farmer from Heldren, lies here. He chased a couple of winter-touched sprites who were stealing crops from his fields into the forest and ultimately fell victim to the ice elementals.
Treasure: A former soldier of Taldor, Dansby kept his posses sions in good repair, and they remain with his body. They include a composite longbow (+1 Str) with 12 arrows; a dagger; a masterwork handaxe; and a pouch containing
14 gp, 25 sp, and 18 cp.

Paletress, the Laughing Blade |

Paletress eventually manages to find a path across the ice capable of supporting everyone's weight. Stepping onto the far side she calls back, "One at a time, heh. Don't crowd across!"
She walks over to Seamus and the body, noting the bow. "That might be a good bow for you or Spar, heh heh. Hmm... nice hatchet. We aren't heh heh planning on burying this guy are we?"

Seamus Passeri |
Seamus smiles and tucking the money into his pouch and the dagger in his belt says "Never trained with the bow or handaxe, so someone else can use them, burial would be tough in this weather." thinking to himself, and I don't want to wait for the fairy's to come back he then asks Paletress "Can you follow these tracks? Do you think they are our kidnappers?"

Paletress, the Laughing Blade |

"Humanoid, heh, and a day old by the look of things. Fits the timeline nicely, heh heh."
Paletress turns as Sparhawk makes his way across the creek and calls out. "Hey Spar, you and longbows get along? Heh."
I ain't gotta roll another survival check to follow the tracks, do I?

Sparhawk. |

Sparhawk nods, "I can fire a bow decent enough, neighbor."
He takes it and slings it over his shoulder, and then sets the dead man ablaze in a small pyre while Paletress looks for tracks. "Learned a long time ago the dead need to be buried, or burned if you can't bury them. Never fun when they get back up."

Paletress, the Laughing Blade |

"I wouldn't want his family to wonder, heh, if he had one. Wouldn't be right."
Paletress makes a mental note of the location on the map.
"Thousands of heh tiny tragedies heh heh. Little things that heh heh seem small but so few stop heh heh heh to think about those left behind heh heh heh..."
She stares at the fire as her comments seem more and more distressed. Suddenly, her eyes go cold, and she looks to the trail.
"I think I shall kill them for this. Whoever brought this cold. Heh. I care not for some ice-queen's design. It will be for this. Heh heh heh."
She turns and makes her way to the trail, then looks back at the others expectantly, eyes like ice.

Seamus Passeri |
seeing that Paletress is ready to continue following the tracks, My focus is on rescue, but if she wants retribution, who can blame her Seamus gathers the horse's lead rope and begins to follow her, crossbow in hand gently pulling on the lead rope, speaking to the horse as he goes. "come on boy, you know I really should have asked that lady your name, huh? Oh well, you probably don't care as long as I feed you, right?"

brvheart |

The trail begins to climb a ridge line to the south beneath snow-laden trees. The prints of boots and horses mar the fresh fallen snow on the trail.

You see three bandits quarrelling over their share of the loot. They don't appear to notice you.

Seamus Passeri |
Seamus carefully moves back down the hill, he quietly goes to the group, there are three bandits quarrelling over their share of the loot. They didn't appear to notice me, do you want to sneak back up and quietly jump them, or do you want to approach them and offer them a chance to surrender?" looking at the team for the method they want to use to take the criminals, but keeping his opinion to himself. I think I would rather bushwhack them, but I'm not in charge.
