that's curious, why would someone drag a chest out here, drop it and leave it? Looks like a perfect opportunity for a trap Seamus, seeing the trunk asks the team "does that look suspicious to anyone else? Give me a moment to check it out." After tying the horse off on a nearby bush He approaches the trunk carefully looking at it for a few moments looking for trip wires or any other types of traps.

The packed snow hides a rope they strung through the undergrowth to a spiked log suspended high in the trees.
Seamus Passeri
Seamus fishes up under his coat to his Bandolier and removes a few tools he then moves around the trunk to be as far from the logs targeted area as possible and begins attempting to disarm it.

not being able to get the rope, Seamus returns those tools to his bandolier and removed another one, wiping off his brow on the back of his coat he attempts to disarm the rope trap again.

Seamus tries again and manages to untie the rope leaving the chest free of traps.

well that's a reliefhaving disarmed the rope and log trap, Seamus carefully ties the rope off so the long won't hurt anyone, putting up his tools he pulls his coat down and carefully looks over the chest, seeing if it is locked and if there is anything else odd about it, if it is unlocked he will open it up and look inside also

well we can at least use it to return the dresses to the poor girls families Seamus finding a use for the trunk, quickly takes it over to the horse and packs some of the loose items in it, after attaching it to the pack saddle he gathers the horses lead rope, smiling, "Not much but a used trunk, but at least it didn't get anyone killed, shall we move on?"
brvheart
If the chest is dug up, the loot is plainly visible. The cache contains the
majority of the weapons and armor stripped from Lady Argentea's guards, including five sets of leather armor, three sets of studded leather armor, a masterwork chain shirt, two light wooden shields, seven longswords, two spears, a masterwork dagger, and three light crossbows with a total of 25 bolts .
Seamus Passeri
slight adjustment from earlier post, sorry for any confusion
well, you don't see that everyday Seeing the stuff under the trunk, he begins to load the items into the trunk, finding the masterwork chainshirt he holds it up and asks "Does anyone mind if I use this? Oh and this?" holding up the masterwork dagger. Laying aside the chainshirt and tucking the dagger in his belt, he continues loading the items into the trunk. He then attaches the trunk and the items that wouldn't fit to the pack saddle, as the roman-nosed bay stops nibbling on frozen tree leaves and looks at him. Almost giddy about the fancy chainshirt he pulls off his winter coat, immediately regretting it. He quickly changes the armor and pulls his winter coat back on and then spinning about asks the team, "So what do you think? does it look good on me?" Realizing the stupidity of the question, his winter coat is covering the chainshirt he blushes slightly, grabbing the lead rope of the now unhappy bay and says "I guess were ready now."
Edit: any experience points for the trap?

Everyone make a DC 15 Fort save, +5 for wearing winter gear and other appropriate adds.

Looking at the shields and the masterwork longsword in the pile of previously acquired loot, Sarathress says "Heh, I feel as if the universe is telling me to go... what is the phrase? Sword and board? Heh heh heh. Does anybody else want that sword from the captain as well as one of these shields? Nobody else, heh, seems to have expressed an interest."
Also: How much weight would we have on the horse? I would like to try to drop to light load if I can. If we can keep food, other sets of armor, and miscellaneous equipment elsewhere
Seamus Passeri
If you are wearing the breastplate you are at medium already, I found out Autumn gave up “elven weapons” for another feat, you and Sparhawk are the only one trained with the longsword so you may as well take them
Seamus shrugs as he looks at the load on the ugly bay. “I’m not trained for either myself so help yourself. I don’t know that the bay is going to be happy about the weight, I think it will be too much for him, I realize its backtracking but I think we will be faster if we take the extra gear back to the cart and only take the necessities .” Seamus then shoulders his own pack relieving the horse a little. Turning around he leads the horse back to the cart and unloads everything they have found so far into it, and keeping only the necessary supplies on the pack horse. He looks at Paletress and says, ”Now there should be room for some of our survival gear on the pack saddle. Shall we head back?”
brvheart
The horse is getting pretty loaded up already especially with all the food you are carrying and now the new armor.
Paletress, the Laughing Blade
What I wouldn't give for the tractor trailer.
"We might wish to try and cover up the cart a bit if we're going to leave it here, or we might want to keep it with us until we hit an area that is more impassable than we can manage. I dislike the notion of just leaving it here out in the open."
Should I indicate what is being left in the cart for me? Paletress is pretty much gonna drop her backpack the instant a fight starts as it is.
Sparhawk.
Don't forget you have the cold iron longsword. I wouldn't mind having one of them for now in case we meet more zombies, but my polearm is slashing so either way. Also I have endure elements so unless it's under -50 degrees I am OK without a save. Leaving everything on the cart may not be a good idea if it gets stolen. Maybe hiding it in a broken carriage under the zombies?
Seamus Passeri
the reason we left the arms and armor from under the trunk was because of the weight on the horse, brv said it needs to be around 400 lbs. I though we dropped the cart so we could follow the trail, if we can take it further lets, I'm all for hiding the stuff or hiding the cart, or at least covering it with a tarp, but I don't know if anyone has one. Hopefully no one will be out this way before we return with the rescued Lady, we burned the broken carriage but we could hide it somewhere, my goal was just to lighten the horse so we could keep moving, probably should have asked questions instead of just "writing it" Also Paletress, doesn't the breastplate put you at medium anyway, so the pack shouldn't make any difference if its med or light, right?
Seamus Passeri
it is my opinion according to the PFSRD that they overlap, but that would be brv's call
brvheart
If your character is wearing armor, use the worse figure (from armor or from load) for each category. Do not stack the penalties.
Seamus Passeri
The cart is not going to make it off road. You can hide it in the trees/bushes with a survival check with your extra gear as was mentioned by Autumn here.
What I wouldn't give for the tractor trailer.

After loading the excess gear into the cart Seamus looks at eac om the party members adding "That's an excellent idea, Paletress, could someone help me find a place to put it in the forest where we could hide it? I really do much better with things in town, normally."

[ooc]I took Arcane Focus instead of Weapon Familiarity, I am wearing the cold weather outfit, from the cache, I will take a spear and some crossbow bolts, I think saving the studded leather is a wise idea too.[ooc]
I agree with (had the idea myself too) you on hiding the cart and building a blind out of wayward pines and such to hide it, also, anything that we left behind, including that we did not load in the cart, I will mark with my arcane mark, so i may track it. I will help you find and build the hiding place.

Seamus nods to Autumn, "thanks, what can I do to help? how about over there?" helping drag the cart to thee spot Aurora and Paletress approved, the hide they cart and weather proof it as best as possible, then hiding it with a blind as Autumn said using magic to mark it was a smart idea, I wouldn't have thought of it, course I'm don't know magic. As the team was finishing up Seamus picks up his crossbow and asks, "Well I believe we are ready to go again, Paletress, shall we continue following the trail?"
Seamus put the jewelry in his backpack, which is on the horse with the food, anything you want from the stuff, I know we have the armor and the longsword, just Identify and we will take it off the master list and put it in your gear, whatever you put on the horse let use know, he's (I think he's a gelding, too ugly to breed, roman nose and all) he's carrying 200 lbs his own food and Seamus pack 50 lbs, so he can take 150 more.

The snow becomes increasingly deep in this part of the forest, where a wind swept gully carves a path through a tree-covered ridge. A soft cascade of snow falls from an over head branch, hissing softly as it strikes the ground.
Because of the deep snowdrifts in the gully, entering a snow-covered square requires 4 squares of movement.

"Heh, glad I went in for that pole," Sarathress says, using the wooden staff to test the footing ahead of her. "There are a great many uses, heh, for a long stick. Be very careful, heh. Don't want anybody twisting an ankle or falling into a pit trap. We'll have to go single file through here, which means its a long slog for all of us."
She thinks for a moment, as if thinking she forgot something. Suddenly, she snaps her fingers in understanding. "Rope! Everybody tie yourselves to each other!"
brvheart
Who is going first and in what order if you are going in single file?
