Not my business, I know, but may I suggest the Soul Weaver for Corynne? With souls swirling around, it just seems so appropriate. There is even an archetype for conjuring ghosts.

It's really awesome and intuitive. Basically turns magic into a Skyrim-esque talent tree. SoM does a similar thing for martials to eliminate boring "stand still +full-attack" fights.

There's also an archetype for gunslingers that gives some light-bending abilities, other than the one in Spheres of Might, giving them access to basic talents.
Also, the Dual Wielding sphere finally allows for efficient double-pistol or double-crossbow builds without weapon cords shenanigans.

Another possible course of action: question LeBrix again, pointing out the flaws in his story.
Miselle |
We might want to wait until we can piece more together, so if he tries lying again we can go 'Nope.'
Plus he's probably got Diplomatic Immunity.

Gotta say, the gunslinger archetype looks pretty cool, not just for the light-bending but also for the skill swaps and for the bonus to perception for keeping a grit point. Perception is just so universal, and having Know(Arcana) ties straight into the Mad Shootist prestige class.

The gish archetype playtest has some more goodies. The Bladewalker Armiger is extremely pleasant, but I think that a Spell Dabbler Conscript will be my way to go.

FYI, Drop Dead Studios has put the Spheres of Power stuff in HeroLab for $20. If this is the direction we're going in I'll probably end up buying it rather than the actual PDF of the book.

Az - there's a wiki for Spheres here that has most everything; SoM will be up later this month.
Azaghâl Flintbreaker |
Thanks Ellena! I've been browsing through the wiki a bit but I haven't really had time to really sit down with it.
I do like that Glass Eye Gunmage archetype, but it's a tough sell to get rid of the Musket Master archetype...I mean, it would mean giving up the Rapid Reload (musket) feat, not to mention no longer getting the Fast Musket ability which would let me reload the musket as a move action instead of full-round action and thereby potentially double my damage output.
I like the other archetype a lot, but losing that Fast Musket ability makes it a much tougher trade-off to evaluate.

I think that they stack.
He may choose to swap out any deed he would normally gain from his class at the same level, as specified in the new deed descriptions.
Just don't swap out Gunslinger's Dodge and Utility Shot and you're golden.
In addition, while waiting for the SRD, there's still the Open Playtest online, with little difference from the final product. The Gunslinger Gunfighter archetype, sadly, doesn't stack with the Glass-Eye Gunmage, but one can again swap out their standard feat progression with martial talents.Alice Kildare |
Don't worry, good lunk with your new job!
Spooky, if you don't tell us she's lying I guess we're leaving.
Miselle |
Boo. This is why people need jobs like mine. I post from it. But may the job bring you happiness and the cash that funds happiness in our capitalistic society.

SoM is now up on the Spheres wiki. I gave what I had planned for Ellena a quick once-over; they changed the wording on some things to make them less attractive (Swordmaster doesn't use attack actions. Ever.). Still, there's one or two things in there I still want though I may wait until I can pick up Bleeding Critical.

Out of curiosity, have you experienced any weirdness with the website recently? I've been unable to log into the Wayfinder app, and the site keeps logging me out when I try on both my computer and my phone. I'm obviously able to get in and post, but when I log in, it sends me to an error page first. Just seeing if anyone else has a similar experience before I submit a support ticket to Paizo.
Miselle |
Yeah, it's been logging me out everytime I sit still for a few minutes. It's a little annoying. I don't have Wayfinder or the error messages, though.
Corynne |
Everyone's having the automatic logging out on every device issue since it was down for about 9 hours overnight Wed-Thurs.
Might be another security upgrade like the last one that killed wayfinder app for about 6 months and made some smartphones and browsers unable to connect at all.
Alice Kildare |
I'll grab it when I respec to Spheres of Might. In the meantime, we'll wing it (potions, anyone?).
Miselle |
Well, all the Spheres of Might stuff is up on Rednal's Wiki now, so I suppose we can start considering rebuilds. Unless Our Benevolent Dictactor wishes to wait for us to level up and such?
Ellena Tabbit |
Considering? I've rebuilt Ellena six ways to Sunday already and still have one or two ideas left to try. Biggest thing is avoiding anything that requires an attack action, since Ellena never uses them.

Next level I'll put a point in disguise, which I have as a class skill and will kick me up to a +7. But yeah, we're not that big on stealth, which given the way this group operates makes a lot of sense.
Alice Kildare |
If you need a hand figuring it all out, feel free to drop me a PM!
I'll be posting my ideas for Alice as soon as I figure out the most practical build order.
Also: it's still playtest (from the upcoming gosh book), but would the Spell Dabbler Conscript Specialization be alright? It gives Low-Casting for 4 specialization points.
Your Benevolent Dictator |
@Alice: I vaguely remember that option from when I glanced through the gish playtest a while back. I'm fine with it.
@Azaghal: Even though Spheres is pretty straightforward, learning an entirely new system can be a bit overwhelming. Here's a couple places to start:
Spheres of Power: Glass-Eye Gunslinger archetype
Spheres of Might: Barrage and Sniping Spheres
EDIT: I won't be as quick to reply as Alice, but I'm equally happy to assist.
@Alice: try the Duelist and Fencing Spheres. I think I remember them having some passive abilities that would synergize well.
Ellena Tabbit |
(I'm assuming you meant Ellena with that last one, YBD)
Ellena will be picking up Duelist, but not until later during the ramp up to Bleeding Critical. Both Duelist and Fencing require attack actions to trigger their base abilities (this was changed from the playtest) so Duelist isn't really useful until I have a reliable source of bleed damage and Fencing really isn't useful at all.
What does have a surprising amount of either passive or swift-action abilities is Gladiator, which Ellena will likely dip in. That, Duelist, and maybe Athletics as well if I can fit it in.
So here's a question: can I ditch the Dual Talented human racial trait?
Alice Kildare |
Well, if I pick Duelist, I can be a reliable source of bleed damage ;) but I think I'll go for Fencing first.
Also that specialization was axed from the playtest, too bad. I'll keep my Mageknight dip.
Alice Kildare |
