So Chumtooth isn't some unintelligent Reaver?

Liberty's Edge

Ben Gar wrote:

Nope. I wrote his backstory as a savage curious about the world outside his people's islands. He has had a few years of gradual acculturation, but he's by no means fully civilized. He won't be randomly killing and cooking people, but he will probably give a few people the distinct impression that he just might. ;-)

Sczarni

Looks like some good submissions! I'll submit an app for a third try, Haha. If picked up I'll find another trait to be added. Besides that, Malak is pretty much ready to set sail.

Zaketta, your skills seem to be at second level. Is that correct or am I somehow miscounting something?

Malak: Looks complete other than the aforementioned trait.

Kismet: Good fluff, obviously need crunch.

I'm gonna throw this guy in there.

Sh'torek

If this race is even allowed I'll look for that third trait.

Grand Lodge

Thanks GM! I enjoy writing and spinning tails in PBP. So I understand the unique style PBP offers. I like to think of it as a collage of stories from each character, everyone has their own style and way of writing.

Dark Archive

Hey, Reigar!

@Malak, this is Isabella's fifth try! She got selected first time for a game which never made it past the opening, so here she is.

If I have said you were missing something, please let me know when you have updated your character to fix this. Monday, I'm going to add a little more flavor to the apps that are completed so I can get a feel for who the characters are beyond their backstory.

Here is my submission. In the interest of full disclosure. I am running Skull and Shackles for my Table Top crew. Also I have played in another S&S campaign here on the forums, that campaign went through 3 GMs. I have no trouble separating in character from out of character info.

good submissions! GM will have his work cut out for him in selection.

@ GM Hills - what kind of posting regularity are you expecting?

Once a day minimum. Letting me know you will not be around for a few days is fine and weekends aren't going to be as big of a requirement since so many on the forums don't have as good of weekend access (I have a good amount most weekend, but meh).

Also, the player that was previously accepted that was going to play an 'other' role is going to be an Undine Watersinger, they confirmed with me just now.

The other person will fill a role that is needed based off what I choose here.

Well seeing as there is already a Bard chosen for this campaign I am going to submit Terz. He has been in a previous S&S campaign that hit a reef still in book one.

GM Hills wrote:

Ah, no, I think you're right. Maybe we got started at second level or something. I can't rightly recall. I'll go back and re-calc everything to make sure it adds up right.

Ok, I think I've corrected everything. Sorry about the oversight - I should've reviewed this ol' character sheet more carefully before submitting.

Kismet's stats are up. He's become a Sorcerer, simply because I couldn't make the oracle water-based crunch fit with the character and a Seaborn sorcerer fits quite nice.

All else is the same!

One more trait, Kismet.

Dotting for interest, I have a character in mind, but I'll need to put some thought into it.

I would also like to play in this game. I haven't ever played in a Pathfinder game before, but I have roleplayed and played by post home brew narrative games with friends. I would really like to get some experience with Pathfinder, so if my relative inexperience isn't too big of a downside, please consider Nissa. :-)

Fixed.
I'm looking forward to Monday's additional flavor challenge!

I've added the third trait. I think that's everything. If not, let me know. I tend to miss things.

Sh'torek

Interested will have to think of a good character idea. It will Most likely be a Hexcrafter Magus.

Sczarni

Just to clarify DM, Reigar was not submitted. I just didn't switch my alias on accident. However, Malak is more than ready to bash skulls, seize treasures, and ride into the gales of the sea.

Here is my application: Bramzit "Bzzt" Brightonspinner, Sorcerer of the Air element.

Background:
The Brightonspinner name can be found all over Golarion, with several claiming to be 'Brightonspinner' without any real way to verify such a claim. They all, however, seem to possess the emerald eyes and vibrant personalities so characteristic of the Varisian heritage.

Bramzit was born into the traveling troupe "Harrigan's Harlequins", where he learned the finer points of showmanship and chicanery. But as many children dream of running off to join the circus, circus children must dream on a greater scale. Bramzit dreamed of being a pirate.

In his youth, while learning the ways of the jugglers and acrobats, Bramzit excelled at the high wire. He loved the height, the wind, the freedom of the birds. He loved it so much that even in his free time he was up on the wire, trapeze, or just sitting in the nest. It was there that his life took a bit of an odd twist. At the age of 16 he was practicing a flip on the wire when a storm rolled in out of no where. Before he could scamper down the ladder, a bolt of lightning struck him, the current coursing through his veins. But instead of killing him, it awoke his ancient blood. The lightning coursed around him, dancing to his whims, and supercharging his senses.

Of course, he kept his new skills a secret, lets he be tossed in the freak show with all the others of “unusual” talents, but it signified to him that he was meant for something greater. Being a Halfling you are taught certain skills from birth, and how to sneak around was definitely one of the ones he remembered. He stowed away on a merchant vessel heading to Eledar in Sargava. A dangerous voyage, given the proximity to the Shackles, but there was money to be made. Of course, Bramzit was found eventually and about to be tossed overboard when he revealed his little trick. Moderately impressed, he was put to 3 months hard labor scrubbing the decks and cleaning things that the others didn’t want to. Well, as expected, pirates attacked the merchant ship and Bramzit was tossed overboard in the attack. Clinging to some flotsam, he made land and eventually found his way to Port Peril.

I don't have the crunch, yet, for Diabolito, but I do have some serious fluff put in. Crunch is nearly done.

Nissa, I'm not seeing how you have 3 feats. 1 for being 1st level, Weapon Focus from class, then you have a 3rd, but you gave up the human feat for getting the extra +2 to a stat. Did I miss something? Otherwise, your crunch is good.

As far as the fluff for Diabolito, how is it looking, GM? I definitely am concerned about it not being solid enough. Although I do feel that there is a ton of irony.

Dotting for interest. Heck, may as well throw a hat into the ring. ;)

Character background:
'Suny' (As she prefers to be called by her friends) is a cheery, happy soul. Having grown up about the ports and harbors of she has earned a living, up until now, by working on small fishing boats and trawlers or by providing impromptu entrainment at the small local taverns in the hamlets where the ships would put in for berth.

Now, slightly bored of the sea (And always cleaning the salt from her hair), she has headed inland to see what the world at large holds in store for her.

"N'so, a description o' th' kin 'Back home'. Island Elves of which she wus a part of would seem to be more 'Native' like. Simple hunter, gather-ers who might supplement things with a bit of 'natural' crop farming and other horticulture'l endeavors."

Now, bein' Native don't mean bein' Stoopid. Frowns and waggles a warning finger at folks.

"Since we're more like Seals then Fish, they'd be on goodly terms wi' th' Merfolks there abouts an' probably have good trade relations wi' 'em. As fer raiders an' such? Well, every community puts up with that sort o' folk in a fantasy setting, right?" (^_~)

Suny's (Elasandriel) kith and kin have been living on the edges of the sea from time immemorial. Whether it was exploring some new and pristine beach or scampering about the rigging of whatever sailing vessel was the fashion of the day. Being 'Of the sea and shore' are part of her nature.

Possible/Potential Game mechanics:
Since I've been in another Skulls and Shackles where being a 'Sea Elf' was considered "Too powerful" I was thinking of tempering the mix by spending a trait on 'Ocean born' and the General first level trait of taking Aquatic Ancestry. So, by spending up two slots it'll potentially lower the power level of the character.

As for possible class? Would a variant on the Magus be something people would be happy with?

Looking forward to DM's reply.

Much cheers to all.

Suny, if you want to play an undine, why not just play an undine? Trying to make something work and house rule stuff seems a bit unnecessary. Send me a PM for any house rules you are looking to deal with and we can discuss, but I don't see the need in you reworking things to make it fit, if you can just play something similar...it's not PFS, if we need to re-skin something, we can. Like I said, just PM me.

Update time!

That gives us eight characters who are 100% complete for submission, and plenty that are close. I SHOULD have the next wave stuff up tomorrow evening after I get home from work (Yes, I work weekends), at which point there will be something more for people to do that have complete their characters. I hope it will be fun, it was in the game I got into. That being said, for full disclosure, the two spots that are already taken are from my tabletop group that both have some desire to play Skull & Shackles, so we are able to get it done here.

GM, I now have a good deal of crunch done. I think all I have left to do is his gear, which shouldn't be too hard at all. Anything you can see needing to get further into? I'm concerned the background is a bit too light on details.

PM sent. (^_^)

So, the class of Magus is at least acceptable? (^_~)

Wishing all the very best.

EDIT: I see some one else is putting forward a Magus? There's no need to worry about an 'over lap' as I intend to first take levels in Barbarian(Titan mauler) so as to dextrously swing an elven curved blade. (^_^)

:Sunny: wrote:

One of these things is not like the other...

Diabolito, you can Finesse an Elven Curved Blade. It is special. That said, might want to look at Urban Ranger, as well, Sunny, since it rages for Dex, if you so desire.

Uh-HUH! Can too!

*Points to rules* =>Says so right here.

Will be taking Titan Mauler to swing tha' thing one handed. (^_^)

Edit: Whut tha' DM done said...

Oh I know they can. It's just an amusing image in my head, especially since Titan Mauler has such an amusing image to it as well.

<-- has an overactive imagination.

The 'Urban Rager' is interesting, but the Titan mauler lets me swing the sword and be a Magus. :)

Also, I can't take both Barbarian types, as they over lap. Other wise, thank'e muchly for pointing that other archetype out, Master DM Sir....Um...unless ye be a gal...then it be all Ma'am an' stuffs.... (¬_¬)

And I thought a dwarven druid with a battleaxe & shark teeth was an odd image.

Sunny, that reminds me of the quote from Crocodile Dundee. That's not a knife. THIS is a knife.

*Giggles* (^_^)

Aye,

"That not be a sword." shring "THIS! Now this be a sword!"

And that is when the dwarf and the girl will be good friends. After all, not another race on Golarion denies the concept of overkill as much as a dwarf. Except for maybe a goblin.

Who'd a' thunk it? A Elf an' a Dwarf hittin' it off. Why, sure there should be a tale about fer somat like that. (^_~)

Yeah, but that was a platonic bromance. I don't think Diabolito and Sunny could be a bromance, all considered. :P Maybe it's just the fact that Sunny is female. But we definitely are fish out of water.

*Nods*

Yeah, 'cept when we's in'a water.

Then we be like fish....um..in'a water....um...

Then we'll be peoples in water. Just strange people. Or Diabolito can literally be a fish in water.

Now I haz an image of a furry walrus in me head! >_<

Gah! Thank'e fer that. :P

(^_^) Jus' kiddin'. ;)

lol :P Hey now. It's a furry, bearded shark. Get it right. And it smokes cigars. Waterproof ones. Young, elven wippersnappers with no respect for the power of the water beasties. Harumph!

:) That is pretty funny. Not sure what's worse: furry walrus, bearded shark, or behemoth hippo with muttonchops?

*Laughs* (^_^)

I does so has respect fer tha' water beasties. *Points to sword* (^_^)

"Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A kensai is proficient in simple weapons and in a single martial or exotic melee weapon of his choice. A kensai is not proficient with armor or shields and suffers normal arcane spell failure chance when casting magus spells while armored."

Since Nissa is proficient with the urumi, I thought that meant she would note that proficiency as a feat? Is that the wrong way to do it?

Sovereign Court

I think I might submit something by tomorrow evening. In fact, it'd be an older character updated to Pathfinder mechanics, from a homebrew pirate-y PbP I played here a few years ago.

Was thinking Cavalier for Intimidating everyone, with the Huntmaster archetype, but I might make something else (take a dip of gunslinger, and all that). We'll see!

Much lookin' forwards ta' swingin' steel with ye miss Alami. (^_^)
